Cole:
Cole had just got accustomed to the big house. Dating a girl who came from money had always had its perks, but he hadn’t fully adjusted to living life this way. And the more time passed, the more he seemed to resist. Instead of slipping into habits of a professional man used to the money, he pushed off his work for another day in place of his guitar. He got carried away with it on this particular day, Marissa off at school for the time being, he figured he was alone. “I like me better – I like me better,” he sang softly along with the beat his guitar was creating. Of course he was wrong in his assumptions, completely forgetting they’d recently hired the nanny who he could see creeping past the door, presumably to see what the noise was. The note slipping off his lips cut off, glancing up. “Damn, caught slacking off,” he laughed. “I’ll be honest, I completely forgot you were here. Sorry about that, I’ll keep it down.”
Sam:
Sam was still getting lost in the hallways, trying to get a mental map of the layout of the house so she didn’t look like an idiot in front of her new employer. The wife seemed nice enough and she had fallen for Marissa and knew they would be close from the second they met. She desperately needed the money, and this was much better than waiting tables until the semester started back up again. The sound of music drew her in when she turned a corner, almost inviting her to take one step closer to it with each lyric. Her blonde head of hair barely poked through the crack in the door when she saw the husband, still only referring to him as Mr. Knight. That was the name she used when she told her friends about him, how tall he was, the scruff and his eyes that made her stomach jump a little. “Don’t apologize, I shouldn’t be lurking” She opened the door wider to fully press herself against the doorframe and get a better view of him. “I was actually thinking of making myself some lunch and I was wondering if you wanted some too.” A slight smirk tugged at the corner of her lips as she played with the strand of hair in between her fingers. “Or you can keep slacking off and I won’t tell anyone”
Cole:
Cole pulled the guitar strap up and above his head, setting it aside, propped up against the wall to keep it upright. His attention turned back at the girl, the girl that seemed to demand his attention when she walked into a room. He tried to hide it as much as he could, certainly around Sarah and Marissa, not that Marissa would notice such glances. “No, you’re fine—can’t be expecting to hear that in the middle of a work day,” he nodded in understanding, a smile fitting to his lips. “Yeah, sure, I could eat,” he nodded. “Let me help out in making it though,” he offered, rising from the seat he was in and beginning toward her. His eyes caught the way the strands of hair rolled in her fingers, lazily gliding over to catch her smirk, a long breath escaping him, trying to escape his own thoughts. I won’t tell anyone. He knew exactly what she was talking about and it couldn’t have been a more innocent comment, but his thoughts were anything but. “What were you thinking of making?” He asked, trying to keep his normalcy about him.
Sam:
A bigger smile grew on her face when her invitation was accepted, she wasn’t sure what to expect considering the little interaction they had between the time she was hired to now. Her eyes moved up his body as he made his way closer to her trying to make them meet as she kept leaning back. “I’d love help.” She barely got out before trying to keep herself in check and stopping her from letting her mind wander off. “Very secret recipe, passed down from generation to generation. You’ll love it, and if you don’t I don’t think I can work for someone with bad taste.” Her shoulders shrugged a little but her sly pout still present on her lips, it took a small second for her to push herself off the wall and make their way towards the kitchen. Her short dress swishing against her thighs every time she took a step through the empty hallways. She couldn’t imagine living in a place like this, it was big but still gave her a hollow feeling that seemed to only be filled by his presence. “You sounded really good by the way, I liked it. How long have you been playing for?”
Cole:
Cole caught her eyes glancing down his body, but he brushed it off. Sure he was just seeing what he wanted to see, letting his imagination get in the way of reality. The girl was just at work doing her job, she certainly wasn’t stealing the same glances he was. “Secret recipe… that you’re about to let me watch you make?” He teased with a smirk. “Alright, then I guess your employment is hanging in the balance. Sarah’s going to be extremely disappointed in me if I tell her when she gets home that we need to go out and find a new nanny. What exactly is the meal?” It wasn’t long at all that it took for Cole’s eyes to greedily move down her body, fixating on her ass and the way her dress came just short of riding up, almost taunting him as they made their way through the house. Her words took his focus, his eyes glancing up in case she glanced back at him to hear his response. “Thanks, I appreciate that. Not my song, but it’s my take on it,” he nodded. “My whole life really; as long as I can remember anyways. My mom was really into music, got me into it,” he explained, fingers tapping on the granite countertops. “So—do you know where everything is already?”
Sam:
Sam bounced as she took she step almost giggling at his words. “I’m keeping your secret and you can keep mine. Tit or tat right?” There was no way she would be talking to Sarah like this, no she would be formal and polite not smirking her way down the halls. It was so new in her employment that she feared she would cross the line, but it seemed to her that he didn’t mind and for now that’s all that mattered. “Your song or not, it was still good. But that’s really sweet thought that your mom taught you, you should teach Marissa.” her words were simply a suggestion as she entered the kitchen grazing past him towards the refrigerator. “Almost, Mrs Knight showed me around my first day, got me all settled in but I’m still trying to remember where everything is.” Her hands rummaged through some cabinet trying to find where the pans were not noticing the top of her dress fell lower every time she bent over. “I wanted to mention the lock on my bedroom door tends to jam, so I was wondering if you could take a look at that?” she asked him as sweetly as possible with a small bat of her eyelashes.
Cole:
Cole’s smile hinted further up his lips as the sound of her laughter filled the air. “Secret’s safe with me, Sam.” They’d had a few nannies previously, finding someone that fit with their needs and even more so all of their personalities wasn’t always the easiest. And Cole had always found a decent relationship with them, it’d always felt like some mix of a working relationship and a friendship though. Sam had only been there a short while, but nothing felt like a working relationship. They certainly hadn’t found friendship yet, not having enough interaction for that, but in the short time there was more of a playfulness between them than he was used to. “I’ve got her playing around on a keyboard a little right now, we’ll see how interested she is in it all,” he shrugged. His eyes followed her to the fridge, eyes again glancing down her body. “Got it, let me know what you need and I’ll put myself to use,” he nodded. His tongue found his lower lip, forcing himself to meet her eyes again. “Yeah, sure,” he answered with a nod. “We’ll take a look at that after lunch?”
Sam:
“She was singing along to a couple of songs on the radio when I dropped her off, I don’t know but I think you both could do the whole Father-Daughter duo and really sell it.” The first couple of days, she quickly realized how fun the little girl was and they hit it off pretty well, so it made sense for her to agree to move in and be a full time live in nanny. Sam reached up to grab some more items from the top shelf having to stand at the very tip of her toes to grab it. “Gotcha.” She finally said getting ready to make lunch for the two of them. “Thank you, you’re the best.” She flashed him a smile before putting the pan onto the stove and buttering it up. “Are you ready for the best grilled cheese you’ve ever had in your life?” Her blue eyes looked back over her shoulder at him with a sly smirk painted on her features. “You can’t look all the way from over there silly.” She didn’t understand why were words were coming off as a challenge but she didn’t stop them. .
Cole:
“How’d she sound? Wait– more importantly, what songs were they?” He asked, brows tugging together and a small smile toying up his lips, a little prideful that his daughter seemed to be born with the gene. “Wait a second, your secret recipe is grilled cheese?!” He asked, mouth opening slightly, slowly turning to a smile, even more so when he saw that look on her face. She seemed to be playful, overly so, almost in a challenging way. Whatever it was, he liked it, definitely pleased to have her occupying his time rather than his work. “Right right, should I be taking notes?” He asked, making his way over to her, turning his body to lean his backside on the counter so their faces were pointed toward one another rather than in the same direction. His arms crossed in front of him, eyes set on her instead of the pan. “Step one, butter the pan,” he grinned.
Sam:
“She sounded great she made me drive around the block so she could finish the song, Taylor Swift of course.” She told him with a smile and a shurg of her shoulders. her hands hovering over the pan to see if it was warming up yet. “What’s wrong with that huh? It’s a staple and everyone loves a good grilled cheese.” She reached over to grab the bread having to get closer to him now that he was in the way. “You might grab a pen and pencil or you won’t be able to make it when it’s my day off.” Her teeth caught on her bottom lip feeling his eyes on her with every movement she made, not sure if she was just making it up in her head and just wishful thinking. “Step number two: pick out the amount of cheese you think you want and then multiply it by three, that’s how much cheese should be on it.” She handed off the packets to him her fingers barely grazing his once she did so.
Cole:
“Hopefully she made it to first period on time. We’ve got to get her coolin on something besides Taylor Swift though,” he shook his head, still smiling at the thought. “Nothing’s wrong with it, just– well, I’m frankly not as impressed with you as I initially was,” he teased, eyes briefly moving down her body. He had an innate tug to be nearer to her, though he knew he couldn’t close the space. What would be his reasoning for that? The real answer, that it was impossible not to with the way her lip caught in her teeth like that. But he needed to shake the thoughts. “This sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen to me,” he further teased, glancing down at their hands, twisting his lips and lifting his eyes up to her. “Six seems a bit excessive to me.”
Sam:
“It’s lunch, I’m not pulling out a full five-course meal out, plus you hired me to to be your nanny, not your cook.” She replied back with a small smirk and a raised brow at him, her body couldn’t stop fidgeting being close to him as if it needed to be pressed down to something to she would stop moving about. “It sounds delicious okay, and you’re going to miss out if you keep this up.” She kept her touch on his for a second too long, she recognized that, finally pulling away to start working on the dish she had been pumping up. A small clearing of her throat brought her back but the pink glow on her cheeks stayed put. “So, if you don’t mind me asking what is it exactly that you do? I mean, instead of secretly playing your guitar before being interrupted” It was a way to bring back the conversation under her control and not let her thoughts continue because that would be a slippery slope that she wasn’t even sure she could handle. a
Cole:
“Are the two not the same thing?” Cole teased with a small grin rising up the corners of his mouth, enjoying the way she seemed to react to him. “You’re tying to make me fat, I can feel it,” he continued, glancing down again briefly at their hands. There seemed to be something different in the air, in the vibe of the room. Like they were flirting in the most innocent ways, but of course, Cole wasn’t trying to flirt with a girl hired to help with his daughter. “I am a buyer,” Cole nodded, jumping up onto the counter rather than leaning there, just sitting in the same spot. “I work for a chemical distributor and I check in with clients and purchase the right stuff from the right places and things,” he shrugged. “It’s not that interesting,” he twisted his lips. “How about you? You’re in school, right? What’re you going for?”
Sam:
“I would say stick to your day job, but you tend to not do that either.” Sam teased him along with his own jokes. The side glances and the small touches were giving her a small high and she kept trying to push the boundaries without being too obvious. She tugged a piece of hair behind her ear still smirking at him as if she was hiding a secret. “A buyer? That sound important and a lot of busy work. So does your phone go off randomly all the time are is it pretty chill.” The spatula pressed down on the sandwich as the cheese melted and she quickly nodded. “I am, i’m off for the summer I finished finals about 2 weeks ago. Fashion design and merchandising and before you say it’s not a real major, let me remind you I can hold your food hostage.” Her hands reached up to the cupboard behind him to reach for a dish not minding that he was in the way.
Cole:
Cole smiled at the tease, catching a glimpse of the way she looked at him. She had everything it took for him to be filled with desire for her. It was built purely on appearances. She was cute, young, wore sexy little dresses to flaunt everything she had. But now it felt like more. The playfulness behind her words, the way her lip caught in her teeth, that little smirk. It felt like a dare. A dare he couldn’t fall for. A dare he shouldn’t even be thinking about. “Um, not really, mostly emails and shit. If it’s an emergency I’ll get calls, but honestly, if I don’t feel like dealing with it I just don’t answer it,” he shrugged off, turning his attention to her response. “No no, not at all, I think that’s pretty cool. Go after what you want in life. Buying and merchandising can actually go hand in hand. The industries you’re looking to work in are completely different, but they’re similar in ways,” he nodded with a soft laugh, ducking out of the way. “You could’ve just asked me to grab them you know.”
Sam:
“Wow, so they pay you good money to not answer calls when you don’t want to and be able to answer emails from the comfort of home, I’m pretty sure that’s everyone's dream.” Sam had to assume that it paid well, considering how big the house was and how neither of them batted an eye when she told them her hourly wage. But she would have accepted anything when he walked into the room, her eyes kept diverting down during the interview and she had used every ounce of self-control she had to stop her cheeks to turn pink. The wheels in her head had been turning ever since and now having him so close just made them go that much faster. “Thank you, I think I’ll be good at it just need to finish school and start somewhere.” She simply nodded the space or lack thereof made her breath hitch a little, feeling his presence so close to her almost made her skin tingle wanting to be touched and just feel his fingertips grazing over her frame. “I’m making you lunch, have to do it all the way.” She reasoned keeping her gaze locked on his putting the grilled cheese on the plate and handing it to him.
Cole:
“I wouldn’t advise this strategy if you’re looking to get ahead in your career, but it works for me,” he shrugged. Maybe he should have been more concerned with the trajectory of his career, but he wasn’t Sarah had money, if worse came to worse. And he was bringing in his share, no more was necessary and he could never quite muster up the desire to try much harder. Which was why he was in the kitchen chatting up his nanny rather than answering emails. “I’m sure you will,” Cole nodded with a grin. “How long do you have left in school?” He asked, a small comfortable smirk resting on his lips at the close proximity between them now. “Are you gonna feed me too?” He teased, but his expression didn’t change, seemingly lost in a trance in her eyes. His teeth caught the inside of his lip, biting down harshly as if that would keep him from reacting the way his body wanted to.
Sam:
“I have one more year so I'll be graduating next spring hopefully.” At least that was her plan anyways, Sam hadn’t really thought past that just hoping everything will fall into place in it’s own way. But her attention was brought back to the man in front of her. That smirk gave her more confidence than it should, and she could feel her heart beating fast every inch she moved closer to him. “Your daughter doesn't even ask me to do that But I mean I can..” She replied back her a small bounce of her shoulders. Sam set the plate down next to him, picking up the sandwich delicately and placed it in front of his mouth. If he opened his legs, she could close the space between them and get even closer but she knew her own self-control was hitting its limits. Her hands didn’t shake when he took a bite, she just simply kept her eyes going back and forth from his eyes to his mouth. “How does it taste?” The blonde ask biting down on her lower lip.
Cole:
“I was sort of joking, but if you’re willing,” Cole shrugged with a hint of amusement laced into his tone, glancing down and taking a large bite of the sandwich in front of him. His eyes didn’t peel off hers, honestly, in fear if they did he’d just begin staring down her dress, down her body, in places he shouldn’t. He chewed slowly, swallowing the piece a few moments after he’d taken the bite. “It’s good– super cheesy,” he dipped his head to the side and smiled a little more. “Really good,” he confirmed, eyes now set on her lips and he had to force them to peel back up to her eyes. “This the Holt family recipe in all it’s glory?”
Sam:
“I draw the line at putting a bib on you,” Sam answered with the same shurg he did. God, the way he looked at her just kept the thoughts she shouldn’t be having in the forefront of her mind; how it would feel to have his scruff against her soft skin and how his lips would feel biting down on her neck. Her legs shifted slightly pressing them closer together, almost clenching them. “You almost bit off my finger, it’s more than really good.” She told him taking a bite for herself and chewing slowly to give her mind a second to catch up. Her tongue ran over her bottom lip already feeling how pout it was from biting down so much. “It’s one of them, you have to be patient for the rest, we have all summer.” She reminded him with a small bat of her eyes.
Cole:
Cole’s legs opened slightly, hoping she’d take the small step to close some of the space between them. Though he knew he shouldn’t be hoping for it, not knowing what he’d do if he got his wish. He couldn’t do anything, of course he couldn’t. No matter where his mind wandered, no matter how crazy that little dress she was wearing drove him. “More than really good? Let’s not get carried away,” he said softly. His eyes followed her tongue and he should have done a better job to hide the way her stared, but he couldn’t. Eventually his eyes found hers again, clearly distracted from the conversation, but he caught up in time. “I’ve never been much a patient guy, hate to tell you.”
Sam:
Sam looked down at the space he created for them and took that step towards him minimizing it completely, so much so that she could feel his breath on her skin if she leaned in just right. “Getting carried away is what makes life interesting, no one ever did anything worth remembering if they played it safe. Her hand rested beside his leg, trying to ee how much she could get away with by gently rubbing one finger against it. “Really? Because all I got from you was of the in control type, the one who took his time, made sure everything was done right.” Her shoulder dropped slightly as she spoke making the strap of her dress fall beside her arm and she made no effort to fix it.
Cole:
Thoughts wandered, as they had been all afternoon, but he wondered if she was trying to speak right to him like this. Trying to speak about one thing, but convince him of another. She wasn’t safe. That was for sure. He was surely thinking too much about it, it was just a comment, but then what explained away the way her finger was moving on his thigh? “You read me wrong, Ms. Holt,” he offered with a shrug, brushing past the safe comments, unable to make a comment without getting himself in trouble. “I’m a fucking mess,” he laughed softly, trying to take some of the heat out of the moment, heat that maybe he was only feeling. The effort was fruitless, his eyes glancing at the way her strap fell off her shoulder, the way he wanted the dress to slip further down, to see even a glimpse more exposed skin.
Sam:
When he didn’t push her hand away, either for a lack of noticing or not wanting to stop she smirked more proudly to herself. A small victory when it came to him. “I can’t be that off.” Her brown eyes were searching his face through her long lashes, she was so close to him all she had to do was minimize the space and their lips would meet and their hips would not be that far off either. “Why do you say that? I think your life is pretty sweet if you ask me.” She watched his gaze follow over the tan skin of her exposed shoulder and all she wanted was to feel his hands pushing down the other one. Just the thought of it made her gasp slightly and she could feel the ache between her legs become more apparent. “You know when I was making your lunch, I burned my thumb.” Her voice was barely above a whispered for no need rather that it made her words fall fro her lips slowly. “Work hazard, I guess.” Her thumb was brought to her lips as if she was to kiss it away but her eyes never moved from his all the while her plump lips pressed against her thumb.
Cole:
Cole nodded, shoulders rising up for a gentle shrug. “I’ve got a good life, but that doesn’t mean I’m not a mess,” he said with a soft grin, a grin that soon turned to a more distracted gaze. It seemed her voice had turned more sultry, but he wasn’t sure if it was just in his head or not. “Sounds like a simple case of user error to me,” he shrugged again, eyes down on her lips, his teeth catching his own lower lip. He wasn’t exactly proud that the simple sight of her thumb on her lips made him long to put his dick in the very same spot, for her lips to tease him until he was begging for her. Internally, he was begging for her then, and his pants began to tighten just slightly at the thought. He knew he needed to stop, but he just couldn’t. “Might feel better if you suck on it a little.”
Sam:
“I like to think that your life is as messy as you want it to be, But what do I know?” Sam was tempted to move her fingers through his hair and push it out of his face but she resisted the best she could, simply taking a step closer to him with her hips right up against his. She tried to follow his gaze and how ti lingered on her lips and soft sigh fell feeling the warmth radiating from his jeans. “Oh yeah? You think so?” Her thumb parted her lips as she started sucking on just the tip as he had instructed her to do so. The sensation of her tongue that ran over her thumb felt warm and took her mind from the wetness that was pooling in between her legs. Not once did Sam move her eyes from his, clearly enjoying the fact that he had yet to stop her.
Cole:
Cole’s mind was less focused on the conversation, more interested in the one their bodies seemed to be having. He didn’t dare stop her from moving closer, didn’t try and break contact, didn’t peel his eyes from hers. He was relishing the moment. Living internally in a place where this obvious flirtation could go a step further, but externally he wasn’t going to act on that. He swallowed harshly, watching the tip of her thumb disappear into her mouth. His body shifted up, trying to will the boner away, but it was to no avail, his dick half hard in his pants, still not looking away. “Feel better?”
