one thing i do appreciate about the star wars fandom is how they'll truly play with the characters like dolls. no concept too weird or self-indulgent over there on ao3. sending characters backwards and forwards in time on a whim. giving thee most random characters force-sensitivity (alex kallus???). a character drops their wallet and it kicks off a 34-chapter-long epic in which the whole galaxy gets saved. fuck a skywalker saga, the protagonist is now clone trooper number 29343859793 who has 3 lines of dialogue and he gets to kill palpatine with his own bare hands. unironically i adore this. if i actually wrote the sith clone AU it wouldn't even stick out over there. people would just be like "oh a fic where cody is force-sensitive and falls to the dark side because of order 66 and then maul teaches him sith stuff, and in the end they're in a weird codependent throuple with obi-wan? guess it's a tuesday"
