one of my favorite things is how dungeon meshi consistently circles back to food being the thing that binds people together

the thing Misurn desired most was sharing a meal with his loved ones. so strong was his desire that the demon used to manipulate and predate him

...and the cost was being unable to feel any desire to eat at all. The result is a genuine disability that requires constant care from others to the point that he'll completely collapse from exhaustion if not forced into bed. Food, like many other characters, lies at the heart of his backstory and central motivation
