Disneyland Date

DisneyLand Date + First Kiss

A/N: Again, using they/them pronouns to make it universal

You were nervous, very nervous. One of your first official dates and it as a trip to Disneyland??? Wasn’t typical first dates like the movie theaters,a restaurant, anything that wasn’t as extravagant and out there as Disneyland? Not that you minded. You loved amusement parks and you were sure the day would be fun but….you were more worried about you kissing him. Maybe you were a bit too “old” to not have had your first kiss but...it just really never happened. And sure you always fell for the bad boy character in movies but….you never thought it would happen in real life. Or….that he would like you back? You didn’t think you were anything special. However, even with all these thoughts, there were still ways that he made you feel very special, like the luckiest person in the world. Very very lucky.

As you two agreed upon, you waited at the train station, dressed in, what you would say, one of your best outfits. Soon, you heard a deep voice behind you. A voice that was impossible to mistake. You turned around with a smile,”Samatoki, hey,”you said, being brought into a small and quick hug, enjoying the feeling of his chest for a moment before you pulled away, his arms still loosely around your waist. “Are you ready y/n?”,he asked. You nodded,”of course I am.”

Samatoki moved his hands away,placing one hand behind his neck and speaking,”you look cute today...not that you dont always look cute though,”he said, blushing a bit. You smiled at him,”thank you, you look very handsome, like always.” There was also that. He may have had a bad boy look but when he acted like this, it seemed like he had never even hurt a fly. It was cute. He was very cute. Especially what he was wearing. It was hot that day, so he was wearing shorts and red, blue, and orange floral colored button up.

Soon, the train came, and seeing the amount of people boarding, Samatoki instinctively pulled you close by your shoulders, walking into the train. Since it was the weekend, it was understandable that there were no seats...and crowded. Samatoki grabbed onto a handle, keeping you close to his chest, which made your heart beat….and his as well. You smiled into his chest as you could feel it with your hands and looked up,”thank you,”you said. “Just stay close.”

“Phew, who knew the whole train was basically going to this side of town,”you said, finally getting off. Samatoki grabbed your hand and led you to a bench,”lets sit down for a couple minutes,”he said, you thanking him for how considerate he was. You took a deep breath and looked at Samatoki,”were you able to get any sleep? I tried to, but I was too excited. Ah, dont worry though, I have way more than enough energy today.” Samatoki spoke,”the same...happened to me to. I was excited to go with you.” Your heart beat a little out of its chest and you spoke,”so were both still up even though we told each other goodnight,”you said, letting out a chuckle.

A couple minutes later, you and Samatoki stood up and headed towards Disneyland, your heart and body fueling with more energy the closer you got to the amusement park. Once the two of you got in, you were quickly stopped by a person with the camera, asking if the two of you wanted a picture. Might as well.

You stood next to Samatoki as he wrapped one hand around your waist.

“You two are lovers right? Closer closer! And you,”the photographer said, pointing to you,”maybe like, wrap your hands around his waist. And loosen up a bit, this is Disneyland, the happiest place in the world, show use those cute smiles!”

You did as she told, blushing at all the words. Lovers….such a big word! Wrapping your hands around Samatoki as he moved his hand around you shoulder.

“Make a heart with your free hands!”

You made half a heart, couldnt help but smiling at this point, the person’s energy hit you even though they all the way over there. Smiling up at Samatoki, he blushed, making the other half of the heart, the person taking a couple of pictures, then handing them a ticket.

“You can go pick your photos up as you leave over there, the place with a giant camera in front of it! Cant miss it!”

Bowing, you thanked them and looked at Samatoki,”you doing good there?” Samatoki nodded,”of course I am, I was just looking at the shop.”

“You want to go there and get some things to wear around? Like mickey mouse hats!”

Towards the middle of the day, the two of you had gone on a couple rides. The pair of you were wearing Mickey Mouse hats, yours pink and his blue, even getting your names engraved in the front. You were walking around and took a small break in a arcade. Your eyes went towards the claw machine and you gasped as you saw a [fav disney character] plush in the middle of it.

Samatoki noticed,”you want it?,”he said, smirking,”people always struggle but this a piece of pie to me,”he said, very confidently, so when he didn’t get it on the first try, you giggled. “Piece of pie huh?”,you said, only slightly teasing him. He blushed,”I was just warming up” You watched him as he tried five times. But he finally got it. He looked so determined to get it for you, when he got it out, his eyes were sparkling and he gave it to you proudly,”here, for you,”he said….it almost looked like he was a puppy waiting to be praised.

You smiled and hugged him,”thank you Samatoki,”you said, taking the plush,”and he says thank you too,”you said, holding the plush up in front of your face. You joked around and moved it towards his cheek,”mwah”, you said,making a sound, giggling as Samatoki waved it way,”really…”,he said, looking away and blushing. But...he was happy that he could make you smile.He had been a bit worried that he’d make it boring for you...but the two of you just always found thing to talk about.

“Are you hungry y/n?”,he asked.

“Yes,I am!”

The two of you went to grab a bite to eat and sat down for a bit to let the food rest before you went on anymore rides. So, you sat down in a resting area outside, the two of you at a table. You were on your phone and went to snapchat, opening the dog filter, placing the camera on Samatoki who was currently looking down at his phone. As if he felt your gaze, he looked up, and you took the shot. “Hey wait, what type of photo was that?”,he asked. You smiled to yourself,”just a photo.”

“Youre lying, you know you’re a bad liar y/n,”he said, leaning over the table. You moved back, phone to your chest,”but its cute!”,you said, and you had already saved it. “Thats exactly why it needs to be deleted, you put a filter on me again, didn’t you?”,he said, standing. Oh no. Hes standing. “S-Samatoki wait..”, you said, getting up yourself,”I cant delete it.” Samatoki’s eyes was filled with determination,”oh, you cant? I’ll gladly do it for you.” Your heart raced as he got closer and you went back,”I mean I can, but I wont!” Quickly, you turned around, running towards a bench, then behind a statue, going in circles as he chased you, and sending the photo to your email, because you knew capture was inevitable, until you hit into a broad chest,”Oof.”

Large hands wrapped around your body,”I got you.” You playfully screamed as you struggled in his arms and he pulled your phone away. He looked at the snap, stopping as he read the caption,”my cute boyfriend,”his face going red. Samatoki held it up, despite your desperate attempts to reach up at it. Tch. He pressed post then handed it back to you, then exiting the app.

“There,”he said with a smirk.

You hit his chest with your fist,”meanie!” Lucky you sent it to yourself.

Samatoki chuckled,”youre cute when your angry.”

“Sadist!”,another soft punch to the chest.

“Does that make you the masochist?”

Your face heated up,”n-no!”,you said. Even at times like these….you still loved him. Despite how nervous he seemed sometimes, he would sure contradict when he said bold things like that. You walked over to your table as Samatoki followed behind.

The two of you passed the day away until it came time for fireworks. He held your hand, fingers intertwined, as the two of you searched for a good spot, an hour early, even going on the internet to locate the best spots to see them, since the two of you didn’t know. You found your self sitting down in a a patch of grass. Samatoki had purchased a mickey mouse blanket for the two of you to sit on.

As you waited for the fireworks, you reminisce on the whole day, and thanked Samatoki for purchasing the tickets and….absolutely everything that day. You tried to get him to budge but once the words “this is our first date, so I want to do everything, so you can be happy without any worries.” You knew he was just being a gentleman, but that caught you off guard. You caved easily after that.

Your legs were spread out in front of you, a content smile on your face,”Samatoki...thank you for everything today. Being with you made me really happy. Definitely one of the best days of my life. And not cause its Disneyland but...cause you were here.” You were too embarrassed to look him in the eye.

Suddenly, a hand around your shoulder pulled you towards him, your head now on his chest.

“You make me happy too. Today was nice….and seeing your beautiful smile all day was the best part of it all,”he said, despite his slight blush. “Im lucky to have you.” You smiled,”isnt that my line?”

“No its not,”he said, pushing you away so he could look at you. Both hands went on your cheeks as he continued,”Im so very lucky to have you. I always push people away. I even tried to do that with you. But, this time, I couldnt bear the thought of you being away. You managed to weave your way into my heart, you’re special to me, dont ever think that you arent. Or else I’ll tickle you until you say the words from your mouth.”

Your heart was moved by his words and you were getting a bit emotional till he said his last words,”thats unfair,”you said, pouting. Samatoki pulled at your cheeks,”its very fair. I know all your weakness.” You chuckled,”is that a threat?”

“Hm? I dont know…”,he said and before you knew it, hands were at your side. You fell back on the blanket as you tried to move his hands away,”t-t-toki, unfaiR-ahahaha,s-stOP-” he stopped, laughing along with you, now hovering above you. Samatoki looked lovingly into your eyes and placed a hand on your cheek,”y/n, I love you.” Your heart rate instantly increased but you looked back at him, with the same intensity of love, smiling fondly,”I love you too, Samatoki.”

You could this was it. The moment.

When he started closing in, you closed your eyes, indicating that you were ready. You felt your lips connect and….it felt absolutely magical. As if on cue, the fireworks started, but you and Samatoki were you in your own fantastical world at the moment to care at the moment. As the kiss went on, and you slowly started to get the hang of kissing in general,your hands wrapped around his neck. It was definitely more than what you imagined, but you were glad it was Samatoki.

When you pulled, your face was very hot, and Samatoki pressed your foreheads together,smiling,”fireworks?” You nodded with a smile,”Yea, fireworks.” He pecked you on the lips again before you pulled aaway and the two of you enjoyed the fireworks.

OC Interview Meme

This looks fun. Also some answers drastically differ depending on around what time this "interview” takes place. So i got thinking and since I was tagged by@sakurabunnie who’s getting to know my pre-inquisition Soren, i choose to time this before Inquisition. Then i was tagged by dear @hadiden-lavellan too, but by then i was halfway through his post, and hey why not, some looking back :) Thank you both!!!! :3333

For Soren (Lavellan):

1. What is your name?

“A lot of people have called me by a lot of names. You can call me Soren.”

2. What is your real name?

“It is actually Soren. Yep, just Soren. I lost my original belonging and i didnt take any of my families surnames. Not permanently nor in any way official.”

3. Do you know why you were called that?

“Oh well, my parents wanted a pair of short and strong names that ring together, even if they had to get a bit creative. Also, as i learned, a pair of names that can be lilted and growled equally well haha “

4. Are you single or taken?

“i am free like a bird. Does your nest have some extra space on a cold night by the way?”

5. Have any abilities or powers?

“Im a highly trained assassin, among … other things. If you ever get in trouble… *slides over a strange little object* flash this around the shady parts of any city. They will take care of the rest. But for your lives sake, do not try to lie”

“ I dont think i ever used that alias… “

7. What’s your eye color?

“Oohhh you are welcome to gaze into them closer, yes ;) no low light excuses, they have their own, so just lean over… “

“ Oh yes that is harder to tell in different lights. Its dark red, like good wine or blood from the liver .”

“ I have tons. If you meant blood relation… other than my twin sister i have some distant family. Literally distant even, like few and far between, out in the world. Some of us exchange awesome birthday gifts some years though, regardless of the exact date. Who has time to time that. “

“ Sadly animals are deadly afraid of me. It takes just a sniff to run for dear life… Even predators… it takes a special blend of proud and crazy to befriend me it seems. I would kill for such treasures. Like that Hart i once fought for an apple in that deep forest and lately rode to far destinations… i think it starts to get even attached!!! If he sticks around im gonna call him Captain. But remember, Dont go close to him! For your dear life, please dont. He is easy to recognize. Big as a mountain and looks like “Oh, Shit”. “

“ Those things are about to change. Or drop in numbers significantly in the world. Just wait. …as truly as i want to mean that, unfortunately some things never change. Like the darkness in people, festering hearts. There will always be things like betrayal, prejudice, hatred, discrimination, envy, greed, cruelty,... i could go on. People who mostly keep themselves above those shades of their nature are all worth to be protected.“

12. Do you have any hobbies/activities you like doing?

“ Oh there are so many awesome things in the world and so many exciting things to do! I cant even count them. Like there’s hunting dragons for one! Speaking of hunting, there is also treasure hunt and demon hunt and manhunt and wyvernhunt and countless others, the bigger and meaner the better! But then theres also MAGIC! Do you have any idea how awesome that is? Everything magic and everything it touched. Putting together and using magic objects for so many things! And spells??? Potions, lotions, weapons... And there are also PEOPLE! The most magical thing is the warm light in ones heart. And they are so various and unique! There are different languages and codes and symbols and oh the stories! And dance and music and pleasures and laughing and caring and helping and…. oh … haha… im sorry, are you awake? Please ask away. “

“Hmm? What?” (*Muffs out with one of the interviewers -already leafed through-notebooks between his sharp teeth, booth on table...*) Hey! That is… how did you… *sigh*... nevermind

17. Do you look up to anyone at all?

“My sister, definitely. She is the best. She is indestructible in every way i swear! Gotta be the strongest person alive. She is also really cool. But hot. I mean explosive! Not that shes not hot, technically... she is my female version after all haha. And caring for me with great big sister love (*mumble*:even if i am like 5 minutes older), but dont spread that ;) Might harm her notoriety. I also look up to several of my tutors and many other people for many different reasons. People can be so many kinds of amazing.”

“You can not expect me to label my interests in a world full of so many differently beautiful people with warm hearts.”

19. Do you go to school?

“Yes. Life. 24/7. Got less intense since i learned how to survive and sustain myself, and grew a strong body to back up my needs and will, but there are always new things to learn and lessons you never asked for too. I had some actual teachers along the way too, but lately mostly i just teach myself what i dont just encounter by diving into new things. Which is not only fun by the way, you are bound to learn a few things. Then there are books, theories, researching, digging, honing instincts and reflexes, combining and refining techniques or theories, trial and error... Life is a bottomless school “

20. Do you ever want to marry and have kids one day?

“Wow, wow, you mean like.. babies? Sweet Fade, i wouldnt dare breathe their way, they are so fragile... little young PEOPLE, persons who arrived so recently and understand so little and cant even tell whats up just cry and i cant understand them, i understand every language but i can not understand babies for my life and ... and... thats terrifying! And do you have any idea how EASY it is to kill someone? And then there is that small bundle of vulnerability, my proximity could be lethal to it! And .... *sigh*... sorry just... It all would depend on that special person i might find who would want to keep me for life, for better or worse, and if they wanted kids... even if babies, i would be on board. I would do anything for that special someone. Even learn baby care... Bigger kids, well, i already have :D . In good care. If any of them were to be taken under my constant and indirect care, would depend on a lot of things. Right now they are much safer otherwise.”

21. Do you have any fanboys/fangirls?

“Most certainly ;D.But none of them know much about me, of course. With that comes a transformation of those feelings”

22. What are you most afraid of?

‘Im not afraid of ANYTHING!” *eyes instantly betraying* “Fine, fine, gotta be loss. Ironic, isnt it, for i have but what is on my person. Replaceable come and goes. Im mostly afraid of losses that arent even really “mine”, but others. Loved ones or even barely known ones loosing their lives or their light. Loosing my sister, myself, my heart... that is all i am. The only thing i cannot live without is my heart, i AM my heart, and loosing pieces of it or have it broken or freezing through a hole... I hate how selfish that is. But yeah. There you go. I still tend to leave pieces of it everywhere, and it only grows with that, funny how that works, but it also tends to get wounded on every turn. I fear the numbing cold. I fear the day when i cant hold it together and go on anymore.”

23. What do you usually wear?

“What you see is my whole wardrobe, hahah. But i shift and change to blend in from the dirt of Orzammar’s dust town to the shining halls of Orlesian palaces. Its fun. What i like to wear mostly are well covering clothes, that allow a great scale of mobility, but not baggy to catch on things. Made of high quality materials only. My clothes MUST be of great quality materials, more for comfort than durability. Heightened overall senses arent always fun. Oh and for outer wear i like leather, especially dragonskin stuff for light armor, and long boots are the only footwear i acknowledge, some with high heels, and a matching pair of long gloves from soft fine leather are necessary too. Long coats from mostly leather and all the necessary leather straps and harnesses and pouches and belt too of course. If it counts, all my current favorite necklaces with magical pendants and bracelets are a constant wear too. It also doesnt hurt if my clothes look great. But fine materials tailored to my body and my needs usually bring that effect without further touches.”

25. When was the last time you wet yourself?

"Bahahahhahaa now thats some blunt question! It deserves to be answered truthfully. I wish i could say when i was a baby, but truth is i think it happened a few times during the wilder rides of intense poison training with blood magic assistance, but im not really sure, i was barely conscious through those parts from pain and all kinds of nasty sensations, i came to my senses naked and tucked in after them. I never do extreme limit pushing training alone. There were also times when i was subject to some blood spells and experiments unwilling too. I have some suspicious blurry memories that i have made all sorts of messes. Egh. Lets move on to more fun questions”

27. What class are you? (High class, middle class, low class)

“I live outside of such systems. But i took part in every class during my life, thanks to current families or goals.”

28. How many friends do you have?

“Plenty, but one cant have too many. Helping each other goes a long way. I tend to make some friends everywhere i go, but i have few close friends. The closest one is my sis’. She knows me more than i know myself, and she is always there for me, at any cost.”

29. What are your thoughts on pie?

“Pie? One of the most fun cakes. It was invented for throwing i swear!”

30. Favourite drink?

“Hmmmm... old, red wine, hot and seasoned, spiced with a nice kick of that special antivan poison blend. I dont recommend you trying it, but you dont know what you’re missing out.”

31. What’s your favourite place?

“Wherever i am welcome.”

“I am interested in everyone. Are you fishing for some special interest?”

33. What’s your bra cup size and/or how big is your willy?

“Hahahha oh you never disappoint! Well, it was a long time ago when i last i wore a bra, back when i could still pull off the young girl appearance, to get in paces and so on. I always made sure to have a proportional but quite evident bosom. Oh it was such fun, my long hair helped too, and i dished out that act spot on! Like that time in Val Royeaux, when the heads i turned waltzing in as part of a rich antivan court were spinning all around in frantic search in the chaos, while i walked right out as a male servant. Oh sorry, i got distracted. You also asked about my “willy” if i recall correctly. If you would like to measure it so badly we can discuss that later ;) “

34. Would you rather swim in the lake or the ocean?

“Hmmm.... whichever promises more sunk treasures and secrets. Some lakes hide quite the surprises let me tell you.”

“My type of what, exactly, dear? ;)”

“I am very flexible in many ways, let me tell you, in case you are planning to bend me to your will. And if id have some suggestions, well, let it remain a little mystery for now ;p”

“What? Oh come on, we just got to some really “embarrassing” parts! Talking about “embarrassing”, would you like to hear the story of my encounter with this qounari dreadnought captain and ended up on board to Ostwick? Maybe you can tell me some stories yourself too in exchange..” *puppy eyes+shining grin combo* “Well, im not exactly in a hurry...” “Excellent!” *shifts closer and pours more wine*

The pink tax: The hidden cost of being female

Women working to achieve financial independence face an extra hurdle: the hidden cost of being female. Though its cheekily referred to as the pink tax, the additional cost women incur for personal-care products, toys, clothing, dry cleaning, health care, mortgages, and vehicle maintenance is no joking matter. It inflates our budgets, limits our ability to save, and sometimes hinders our ability to access affordable and safe sources of credit. Based on that semi-intense description of the pink tax, you may think its already been made illegal to charge someone more on the basis of their gender. But thats not true. Theres no federal law prohibiting companies from charging different prices for products that are identical (or very similar), but which are marketed by gender. At least not currently. Only one U.S. municipality Miami-Dade County has banned this practice. California enacted a similar restriction in 1995, but it applies only to the pricing of services. New York City followed in 1998. On top of the pink tax, women still earn less than their male counterparts. The average woman is paid 82 cents for every $1 her male colleagues earn; the discrepancy is much worse for women of color. When youre paying more for basic goods and services from birth until death just because youre female its easy to understand why so many women are pushing to Ax the Pink Tax.

What Is the Pink Tax? Twenty-five years ago, in 1994, the State of California studied the issue of gender-based pricing. They found women pay about $1300 more each year for the same services as men. Accounting for inflation, that figure is now closer to $2135 per year. If that figure doesnt shock you, maybe this will: By the time a woman turns 29 (like me), shell have spent an estimated $39,203 on the pink tax alone! Can you imagine how much money I could have right now if Id put the money I spent on the pink tax in a savings account? Especially one with compounded interest!? In 2015, the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) published a report on the pink tax entitled From Cradle to Cane: The Cost of Being a Female Consumer. The report found that womens products cost more than mens products 42 percent of the time. 42 percent! By comparison, mens products cost more than the female version 18 percent of the time. According to the DCA report, products for female consumers were likely to cost more across industries: Girls toys cost more 55 percent of the time, while boys toys cost more 8 percent of the time.Girls clothing cost more 26 percent of the time, while boys clothing cost more 7 percent of the time.Womens clothing cost more 40 percent of the time, while mens clothing cost more 32 percent of the time.Womens personal-care products (shampoo, conditioner, razors, lotion, deodorant, body wash, and shaving cream) cost more 56 percent of the time, while mens products cost more 13 percent of the time.Senior home health-care products (supports and braces, canes, compression socks, adult incontinence products, and digestive health products) cost more for women 45 percent of the time and cost more for men 13 percent of the time. Nowhere is the pink tax more evident than when it comes to personal-care products. Personal-care products geared toward women cost approximately 13 percent more than similar products marketed toward men. Similarly, women are financially penalized for having their menstrual cycle. The U.S. government has deemed menstrual products a luxury item despite the fact that menstrual cycles are a monthly reality for all women, not a luxury. For comparison: Prescription and non-prescription drugs and medical supplies are exempt from sales tax. This includes aspirin, DayQuil, ChapStick, gauze, Viagra, and condoms. But all hell breaks loose if an end to the tampon tax is proposed even though a study published by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists found that two out of three low-income women in the U.S. couldnt afford menstrual products at least once each year. The study also found that tax breaks on tampons are extremely beneficial for low-income women. Despite this growing body of research that it costs way more to live as a woman than a man, proposals to eliminate tampon taxes or other pink taxes dont get very far. In New York, where a tax on menstrual products was eliminated, the state has recorded a $14 million loss in tax revenue as a result. In California, former Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed a bill in 2016 that would have eliminated the states tampon tax for fear that the state would lose $20 million in annual taxes. The Pink Tax in Action What does the pink tax look like in action? At Target, a red Radio Flyer My 1st Scooter marketed at boys retailed for $24.99. The My 1st Scooter Sparkle, the same Radio Flyer but painted pink with glitter, retailed for $49.99.

Until, that is, the DCA study came out. When questioned about the price difference between the two Radio Flyer scooters, Target referred to the extra $25 cost of the pink scooter as a system error. The retailer now sells both scooters for $29.99. Even childrens short-sleeved uniform t-shirts showed a gender price difference, with boys tops retailing for $10.95, while girls tops retailed for $12.95. Anyone have a clue why the girl version costs $2 extra?

The gender-based price difference is even more blatant when it comes to adult clothing. Womens clothing costs more than mens clothing in six of seven categories! The only category where men pay more than women is underwear men typically pay $2.44 more for underwear than women. However, women are paying more than a $2.44 difference when it comes to dress pants, dress shirts, sweaters, jeans, shirts, and socks.

Its not just retailers though that pass along costs onto female consumers, for really no other reason than to boost their own bottom line. Its also service providers like dry cleaners and car repair shops that are guilty of charging women more than men. Suzanne McGee knows all too well the additional cost thats incurred when a female goes to the dry cleaners. Ive been hit with the pink tax again, she wrote in a column for The Guardian. I knew it was coming; I should have been prepared with better arguments. But I couldnt avoid itI ended up getting charged $7 for cleaning my female shirt and not the $3.25 a man would have been charged. To prove her theory, McGee had a male friend return to the dry cleaner with an identical shirt to see how much he would be charged to have the same plain, cotton, long-sleeved shirt dry cleaned. McGees male friend was charged just $3.25, while McGee had been charged $7 to dry-clean the same top. Mortgages, Cars, and Loans While its illegal for your gender to play a role in determining your mortgage rate, theres a slew of studies showing women pay higher mortgage rates than men in relation to their risk of defaulting. According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, because income was once a determining factor in ones ability to obtain credit, women were often denied as a result of earning less than men. A similar trend was found in the small loans market. Studies found that women were rejected more than men when applying for loans. When women were approved, they were given smaller loans, but because so many women feared being rejected, most didnt apply for loans in the first place, the Times reported. A similar occurrence happens in the auto industry. It sounds clich, but a study from Northwestern found that women who acted uninformed when asking about having a radiator replaced were charged more. Women were quoted at $406 for a service that should cost around $365. Men who acted unfamiliar with the repair, just as the women had done, were quoted $383 for the same service, the study found. No Evidence of Discrimination? In 2015, New York officials concluded that because the pink tax is largely unavoidable, its a greater financial burden for female consumers than for male consumer. Consumers dont control the textiles or ingredients used in the products marketed to them, the DCA report noted. Additionally, consumers can only make purchasing decisions based on whats available in the marketplace. However, a report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) concluded differently. Because there isnt a law preventing companies from charging different prices for men and womens versions of products, and companies have a legal right and responsibility to maximize profits, the GAO couldnt conclude the gender price disparity was unfair. The GAO even argued that its up to consumers to understand any price differences. I may have been able to let that ill-informed conclusion slide if they hadnt added this part: Concerns about gender discrimination were not studied due to very few complaints. Stop Paying the Pink Tax! Until the gender pay gap and gender tax are eliminated, is there anything we can do to try to level the playing field economically? To start, you can choose to purchase the mens version of many personal-care products in order to save money. Or, if youre like me and prefer to stick to feminine versions, many female-centric online retailers now offer pink tax-free personal-care products via subscription services. This way you can save money and still enjoy a pink razor. The other thing we can do is use our voices on social media especially to speak up. When youre shopping, check to see if theres a price difference between the womens and mens versions. If there is, look to see if the size and ingredients are comparable. If theyre the same, take a picture of both products and use the hashtag #AxThePinkTax. Some companies whove become aware of the price discrepancies of their own products have made changes to level the economic playing field.

Hi there. I have a question. I want to SUE my Car insurance company because they refuse to pay for my stolen car which is been more then 6 months and still hasn't been recovered. I was paying full coverage for about 4 months till the moment my Range Rover 1998 was stolen. After filing proper claims i get a letter from my insurance that they denied the claim. The reason why was because i misrepresented myself. and what they meant by that was that when i signed the contract i selected NO in a question ( Has your license ever been suspended or revoked) Now let me explain how this happened. I got the insurance thru my broker. Everything was done by phone. My broker happened to be family of dear friend of mine. At the time i asked for insurance my driver license was suspended already suspended and the reason why was because of child support for which i was going thru courts with my ex. First i decided to insure my car liability and my car was paid in full. On the liability contract it wasn't any question regarding my driver license either was suspended or not. After a week or so i thought to myself that if i get in a accident god forbid and it was my fault i have to may myself for damages and you know for such a car would be very expensive so i asked my broker if i can changed it to full coverage and so they did. on the day i did the change the girl that worked for my broker and assisting me asked me Klodian you are aware your license is suspended. I said yes and i explained the reason y. So she found this insurance company for a low price and she emailed me the contract to sign and fax it to her. now under the questions which i saw of course latter after i was denied claim i saw they were marked all NO and that was done on computer not hand writing. which of course in this case was done by the girl that helped me. Now my broker told me that insurance company should had run your driving record before they issue insurance to you and if they done that they were gone see your driver lisence was suspended. But when my broker asked them why they didnt run it Their answer was that they trusted me based on the contract i signed which to my opinion is BS. Now i want to sue them and all the lawyers they refuse to get my case and my believe is because my car is worth about $4800.00 and they don't see how they can make money out of me and i don't have to pay them up front. Now if i go on small claim max i can go is $3000.00 ????
