waaaaaaaaaahhh
have i ever mentioned how much i love dating sims???
#cheritz needs to go back to making dating sims for the#i enjoyed mystic messenger but dealing with the waiting was a pain and I didnt really enjoy the characters#there's always one or two i dont care for in a dating sim (yanderes) but with mm i only really kinda liked zen#I know i got through like 2 and a half routes before getting tired and uninterested.#Chertiz is always amaxing with creating mysteries and stories but mm was really just meh for me#i really couldnt be interested enough to power through routes i dont really like#but their game dandelion? flawless. Only route i didnt care was the orange cat#I even loved the spotted rabbit and im not generally fond of hime types#and the cgs were flawless#Nameless didnt have consistent art for their cgs and that was a little annoying but the stories were BEAUTIFUL#The whole GAME is built around a crazy mystery and when you finish playing through every single tiny bit of the game you feel a good kind#of exhausted like you just finally#finished something you've been working hard on#There were only really two characters that were truly my type but i mcfucking CRIED SEVERAL TIMES during Red's route holy fuck it was just#so MOVING#i get that the mobile market is a far greater demand that gives a higher profit because of whales but like...#fuck man. I know it took me forever to buy those two games because of their prices but Nameless was so MOVING#and Dandelion was so sweet and tender and gentle it has such an easier replay value to revist after you finished all the routes#While nameless feels like i shouldnt touch it again after completing the whole story it is so memorable.#last time i got so into dating sims was Amnesia Memories hahahaha

Chapter 0ne Chapter Two Chapter Three Chapter five Chapter Six
Your escape doesn’t go as planned as Henry reveals just how much power he truly has.
Tumblr media
You were just over a week into your 'stay' at Henry's manor and had just about had enough. Youd spent the last few days in a constant fit of frustration. I had become very clear in the first few days that you were nothing more than a toy, a doll for him to coo over and manipulate. Or maybe a better way to discribe it was the girl in a childs music box being made to dance when ever the owner decided to open the lid. Either way you felt trapped used and helpless, at first he made sure you spent as much time as possible together taking you to the office when he had to work, sitting you on the sofa with a book or parade you around the house.
After that he would put you in what became your daily cell tho never alone if he wasnt with you kal was. Day after day you were left in here a freshly decorated room that youd heard the guards refer to as the play room, it was like a large airy living room like somthing from pintrest a plush looking corner sofa around a light coffee table, large tv on the wall above the fireplace with games consoles neatly tucked away, two floor to ceiling book cases either side ,there was a cabinet full of dvds and games behind the sofa opposite there was a sideboard filled with sketch books, pens and pencils ect and a two seat small dining table sat between the two cabinets. The room was a mix of soft pale pinks and blues and was chock full of soft furnishings pillows and various blankets draped here and there and huge faux fur rug . The window was locked being ground level ,that was the first thing you checked when left alone ,not that you'd get far across the gravel drive he had made a point not to give you shoes. The saying bare foot in the kitchen sprung to mind.
He would visit you when you were in here at lunch forcing you to eat with threats of spanking sometimes worse. Being treated like a child was wearing thin and to be quiet honest you were becoming scared, finding it easier to go along with his insanity, you called him daddy without a thought somewhere in the back of your mind you knew it was wrong but after just over a week he had managed to drum it into you. It was frighteing just how quickly you could be conditioned you had to get out soon. He was overbearing always helping himself to you, kissing ,touching and generally trying to act as if you were a couple until you did something he didnt like then it was back to threats and reality hit.
Today was slightly different you woke up curled on your side his henry lazily running his finger through your hair you squinted rubbing your eyes as he leant over kissing your shoulder before running hi hand across your tummy spreading out his fingers and pulling you back against his crotch, he rocked against your bottom groaning quietly into your hair as you felt his cock springing to life he grinded harder against you before shuffling pinning you flat on your back straddling you pulling your legs to rest either side of his hips you whined in protest trying to shuffle from under him when he pulled you down tight against him he just tilted his head raising and eyebrow. The warning was clear behave. He rubbed against your mound sliding his cock along the seam pf your pussy. You closed your eyes tight already feeling the arousal build inside of you dreading what was to come, you couldnt help how your body reacted you tried to just let him get on with it but each morning he managed to coax you into participating a little more, not letting you distance yourself any longer. He grunted low i his throat as he pumped himself against you resting his weight on his hips one hand cuped the top of his cock squeezing it against you as he pushed it against your clit. You gasped as you felt his throbbing cock against you pulling high pitched moans and whines as you bit your lip trying to keep quiet. He chuckled
"Oh fuck... thats it baby girl ...come on let daddy hear you." You shook your head back and forth as your pussy weeped onto him soaking both of you you found your self panting hard when he groaned grabbing one of your hands replacing his over his cock you tried pulling away and he growled at you.
"Stay still baby.... fuck thats it good girl.. your so good for daddy" he groaed deep as he sped up before leaving wet open mouthed kisses on your collar bone then kissed up to your lips trying to pry your mouth open you turned your head away. He sighed moving his hand into the boxers that you wore finding your swollen clit flicking and pinching harshly causing you to buck and cry out, he quickly took the opportunity to invade your mouth tasting your tongue sucking you into a passionate kiss he let go of your hand placing his hand pressing your knee up to your torso spreading you out for him rubbing his cock faster with jerky thrusts skimming your opening with every movement you gripped the sheets twisting them as you felt your walls trying to clench onto him desperate for him to fill you you rocked back against him looseing yourself in him as he smothered you he released your mouth biting down on your neck leaving a mark alongside yesterdays. You became hot, to hot as you flushed under him chasing your own end grinding up against him
"Oh! oh god please! Please i cant" you babbled incoherently as he repositioned his hand thumbing your clit and thrusting into you harshly with his fingers bouncing your body across the bed you let out a load moan as his hand worked furiously rubbing amd curling his finding your soft spot befor zeroing in and running his fingers harshly across it you cired bucking out at him unsure of you wanted hi to go faster or get off your climax built and he chuckled as your clamped down on his fingers to the point of pain
"Aww baby you want to cum dont you? Thats it good girl so good is it to much?" he didnt relent still masaging that spot you nodded and cried tears falling down your face you couldnt breath it was to much
"Then cum, its ok you can cum, cum for daddy ,all over daddies fingers" you hated how his wods pushed you over the edge and even then he didnt stop he seemed to double his efforts when you arched violently with a silent scream gushing over his fingers he continued moving draggin out your orgasm he moved higher running the underside of his cock across your mound with stuttering hips.
"Oh..OH shit YES YES fuck! OH GOD Little one fuck" he let out a long gruntle moan as he finished spraying cum up your front you both laid there panting. Shame washed over you like it had done every morning he did this. You felt dirty and used he rolled on his side tucking you in his arms kissing your head praising you for how good you were and telling you how much he loved you as you curled ijto him wetting his tinto him overwhelmed. After a few moments the saddness past and you laid stock still against him as he pulled you to lie across him head on his chest stroking your hair once again.
"Iv got to go out today pet. I trust youll be good whne im gone and if your lucky I'll get you a treat" you froze at his words gojng out... that meant youd be alone the thlught filled you with dread and anticipation.
"If your naughty you will regret it when i get back."you both laid there for what felt like hours he wouldnt let you move. Tho he finally let out a breath and ushered you to the bath room showering with you. After getting dressed and having breakfast he left and you noticed he didnt put you any where. You dread to think what he was doing. But you were left the run of the house. So here you sat in the kitchen alone in the huge house apart from the security he kept on site. 'This was it.. or was it a test?..' you raced to the living room window and watched an expensive car leave the gates at the bottom of the drive as it dissapeared behinde the wall that clossed off the property. You debated in your head if he was just waiting to see if you were going to try and run or not. You had to try, somthing was happening to you here ,you didnt like how complacent you were getting with him. It was cruel really the only person that was aloud to interact with you was him, you find yourself almost craving him, you enjoyed his praise lapping it up liike a love sick school girl.
Deciding that this may be the last time you could escape before it was to late you walked into the kitchen slowly as not to alert anyone to your plan even tho your heart was racing ten to the dozen. Quickly and quietly you pulled a small packet of plasters from one of the draws. Throught out your stay you learnt a few things all the doors leading outside and your 'play room' had pressure alarms built in you'd set one off on your forth day trying to get out into the garden resulting in another painfull and very embarassing spanking in the kitchen then experienced your first corner time, the other thing you learnt were all the guards had shifts and patrol routes the house ran like clockwork youd freighed interest in him and he'd waffled on about how it wasnt all bad and he'd take you out when you'd acclimated to your new life then boasted about the cars he had in the basment garage but you'd 'never get to drive one as driving these fast cars is to dangerous for his baby girl'. Tho you hadnt made a thing of it you kept the information locked away youd been behaving hopeing he would let down his gaurd. Once you got the plasters you put them in the pocket of your cardigan and grabbed a butter knife hooking it in the back of your jeans wedging it just under the tight waist band.
"What are you still doing in here? Get to the playroom" you screamed in suprize as the voice came out of no where you spun round faceing the man and nodded walking past him quickly.
"Wait. What have you been doing in here?" He said grabbing your arm pulling you to a stop you huffed tugging your arm.
"Let go i havent done anything" you twisted around as he patted you down you froze mouth going dry as you thought he was going to find the knife in your jeans he didnt instead his hands found the packet of plasters the cocked an eyebrow
"Im doing some crafts today these are incase i get a paper cut...im clumsy and tthought i should take a pack the keep in there just incase" he eyed you for a few seconds befor smirking at you
"So the princess was sneaking about for some plasters, im suprised you werent trying to sneak candy, would be more fitting for his baby girl." He laughed as you glared at him venomously
"Fuck you ,you cunt" you spat in his face he growled before grabbing your arm in a bruising grip dragging you out of the kitchen down the hall as you screamed at him, a few others poked their heads around to watch asking what was wrong as you were dragged down the hall once outside your day room he stopped pressing a card to the reader next to the handle disarming the door and answered their qeustioning stares.
"Nothing just a temper tantrum im sure she will regret later when Boss finds out." He turned back to you.
"He might even make a show of it, i wouldnt mind seeing her bent over" you growled as he opend the door throwing you in , grunting as you landed hard on the floor he whistled for kal and let the dog enter behind you befor shutting the door arming the device again. Shaking away tears in your eyes as you heard then others laugh about how theyd love to see 'a piece of that ass' kal sat beside you nudging you for a cuddle you hugged him breathing deep nuzzling his thick fur, he was the only company you enjoyed here after snuggling with him a few minuets you pulled away putting your plan into action you got out suome supplies fro the art cupborads scattering them hear and there to make it look like you had been drawing, hopefully if anyone came in and found you missing they would assume that you had asked one of the others to let you use the bathroom as the ensuite to this room wasnt finished. You aproached the door pulling out the knife and lowered it to the door handle, the worst thing about this system was that you werent technically locked in, the door opend but set off an alarm that was indicated by a small red flashing light on the card reading panel. Breathing deep you pulled out a plaster removing the tabs on it sticking oneside to your finger. Gentle you pulled down on the handle until you couldnt anymore easing the knife alongside the door pushing on the plate you pivoted your body opeing the door enough to get your hand in the gap and stuck the plaster over the bottom of the pressure plate securing it down. Holding your breath you waited a few moments before summerizing that it had worked when noone came rushing down the hall you quickly slipped thrpugh the door catching kal befor he could make his way out and shut the door fully. You blinked then jumped for joy you could bearly see the edge of plaster on the frame. Quickly you jogged to the end of the hall ducking low realising that not having shoes might be a god send as you were almost silent as you moved you got another plaster ready on your hand as you ducked and dived behind the counters in the kitchen making your way around to the door Henry had left through.'it must have been to the garage' you though you made quick work of the door not waiting to see if the alarm had set off as you heard foot steps coming your way you slipped through the door closing it behinde you and ran down the stairs into a large garage on the left there was lots of hooks with keys on them you toke shaky breaths scanning them befor looking over the cars there must have been about eleven in total ranging from massive range rovers to calssy two seater sports cars. 'I need on that can blend in, a hatch back or somthing, maybe a saloon' you thought running down the line of cars the most normal looking one was a Jag you quickly ran to the keys looking for a set with the same logo as the car finding two you grabbed them both pushing unlock on one set seing another car across light up you threw them on the floor using the other one to unlock the car getting in quickly you felt your tummy tie itself in knots turning on the ignition and pulled the seat forward you put on your seatbelt out of habbit then dojng a small cheer when you saw it was an automatic you put it in drive wincing as it growled to life louder then it needed to be you pulled it up to the garage door and it opend you pulled it forward going up the bank once at the top you saw a gaurd stopping staring befor shouting out to the others.
"Dont let the gate open!!" You panicked and floored it the car took off down the drive skidding you a stop near the gate the instantly began rolling open. On gaurd was sprinting down the drive behinde you. You looked down for a button to look the doors finding it by the window controls you flicked it on and heard the click at all four doors locked lokking up you saw the gate had stopped half way you spun the wheel throwing the scar around squeezing the car throuh the gate clipping the wing mirror off in the process putting your foot down you gave a triumphant shout as you tore down the road away from that house. Leaning back into the seat relaxing as you made yourway towards the town, it was the only way to get to the motorway that would lead out of the area. You wiped tears from your eyes as as relief flooded you sobs wracked your body the drive to the town took longer than you thought it would and you were suspicious as no one had chased you from the house and had spent the whole drive flinching at every car that pulled up behind you. Pulling up to a round about you stopped recognising the area deciding to take a less busy route pulling off to the outskirts of town you parked up into a superstore looking threw the car for money finding a few £20 notes a tap at the window you screamed turning it was a police officer you gulped looking in the rearveiw mirror seeing a squad car pulled up behind you blocking you in, he indicated for you to roll down the window.
"Yes can i help you?" You asked trying to sound normal
"Miss did you realise your missing a wing mirror?" You followed his gaze and smiled meekly. Getting a bad feeling in your gut.
"Yes, its my boyfreids car i borrowed it and hit a sign back there im going to book it in now hopefully get it done and he wont find out i hurt his baby" you ended with a chuckle patting the steering wheel he didn't look convinced and motioned for his colleague to join him
"Uh huh, so are you insured to drive this car? Sure you didnt hit another car?" You shook your head
" Well i hope im insured he said hed made me a name driver and no i didnt hit anyone, the car caught me by suprize i hadnt realised how much oommf it had and still getting used to the size its a bit wider then mine." You explained hoping you were convincing enough he smiled the held out his hand to you.
"Can i see your licence?" You froze then pretended to look around the car for it
"Oh shit i dont have my bag on me sorry can i give you my name instead and you can look it up on the system?" You pleaded hoping that he would let this one go
"So you dont have your purse on you? When your taking his car to the garage to get it fixed?.... yeah im gonna have to ask you to step out of the car now." He said moving back from the door you looked behind you panicking there was no way to pull out.
"Wh-what? Why?" You cried out as he put his hand in the car opeing the door
"No! No you cant do this you dont understand please!" You shouted at him as he undid your seatbelt pulling you out of the car cuffing your hands behind your back reading you your rights.
"Your under arrest for car theft, careless driving and driving with out insurance , you have the right to remain silent anything you do say can harm your defence and used in court ,Call it in we found Mr cavills car" you froze, hed called in that his car had been stolen. He used the police to track you. You wailed twisting against him as you realised why no one had chased you, he was using the police to bring you back to him.you cried as he dragged you to the squad car.
"NO! You dont understand he kidnapped me! Please you have to let me go! He's mad he locked me up please you have to help me." You kicked out as he forced you into the back seat on the car slamming the door you sobbed in the back seat as they locked up the jag and got in the front of the car.
"Please do make me go back i dont know what he'll do" you cried pitifully they sighed looking at you threw the plexiglass.
"Im sorry love there's nothing we can do for you... i wish there was but its our asses on the line" then he started the car driving towards the station. It wasnt long befor you found yourself in a cell heavy metal door between you and your escape laying on the bed crying and terrified of whats to come. Panicking everytime you heard foot steps down the hall thinking it was him. It was over an hour later when you jumped as the heavy lock on your door opened with a loud bang revealing a calm looking Henry standing beside a sympathetic looking officer he shooed them away.
"Give us a minute" he didnt take his eyes off you as he stepped into the room seemed to take over the small space you shuddered backing away from him sending a pleading look to the officer who ingored you and left.
"Well pet have you got that out of your system now?" He said crossing the cell in large strides his suit jacket hung over one arm that was in his pocket. You shook your head crying
"Pl-please im sorry i-i had to" you flinched as he brought his hand to your face. Smoothing back your hair
"Sshhh shh its ok now everything is going to be fine" he calmed you pulling his outher hand up wiping your tears away before for twisting his fist in your hair you yelped clawing at his hand trying to relieve the pain in your scalp.
"You've been a very very naughty girl havent you?" He tugged your hair back forcing you to look at him still wiping your face with his other. It summed him up caring and kind yet brutal and cruel. He grinned a sadistic grin
"I should let you know that im not pressing charges, what kind of boyfreind would i be if i did?" He teased you letting you know he was told your cover story you cried in pain as he dragged you the few steps towards him forcing you onto your tip toes
"STOP! Please Henry your hurting me!" He tutted at you looking at his watch
"Three hours away from the house and were back to Henry? What happened to Daddy? Well it doesnt matter i hope now you realise that there is no escape. You cannot run or hide from me love i have eyes everywhere." He lowerd you back down releasing your hair clutching you to his chest trapping you in a strong grip as you sobbed shaking like a leaf more out of anxiety then anything else.
"Shh shh. its ok little one... i know its been a scary day getting out , nearly crashing into the gate and then being arrested? its all going to be ok, now that you've got this out of your system you can finally settle at home. Ihave been waiting for this little blow up from you i was beginning to think the gun fiasco was it" His words filled you with dread as you began to sink in this was it for you, that there was no way out, he would find you at some point. Rocking you backwards and forwards with your arms trapped at your side he tucked his nose into your hair kissing it every so often.
"Tho this is probably my fault it was enavitable for you to try and run again, i havent trained you properly yet, not givin you the attention you truly need, but dont worry we will start once we get home. I want you to know daddies not angry, no no he's just dissapointed" he pulled back draping his jacket over your shoulders.
"I hope you know that your still in serious trouble when we get home young lady i warned you this morning that youd regret playing up" he murmmerd into your ear as he walked you out of the cell down to the reception he didnt hold you because he didnt need to there was nowhere you could go.
"Mr cavill would you sign these ,I assume your not pressing charges?" Henry looked up winking at you
"No no my girlfriend couldnt help herself, she's like a child in that respect no self restraint. Never thinks of her consequences" You shuddered catching the his unspoken threat looking down as tears of humiliation the officer chuckled as Henry said this sighing his name
"Well she does look distraught, dont be to hard on the little thing I'd jump at the chance to drive one of those myself."
Henry laughed out loud drawing some attention from the others in the waiting room
"Oh dont you worry about her, she'll find a way to make it up to me somehow wont you babygirl" he said winding an arm around your waist pulling you against him squeezing his hand painfully tight. You looked down nodding hearing a few snickers and scoffs from women in seats behind you.
"Now apologize to the officer for wasting his time baby." You scowled up at him being met with a shit eating grin opening your mouth to tell him to fuck off thankfully you were interupted.
"Oh now thats not nessasary saving a tiny thing like her from herself isn't wasting time ..I'm glad I could help" Henry smiled at you kissing your cheek feeling please with himself.
"Now isnt that nice sweety. He's happy to help us" you gave a jerky nod as Henry finished the paperwork.
"I will have someone collect the car today" he called over his shoulder as he forced you along side him stopping before he got out of the door.
"Oh baby Wheres your shoes?" He asked smirking at you knowing damn well that he hasnt got you any, you felt the eyes of the other people on you as he shook his head picking you up cradling you recieveing a few awws and judgmental stares from the women. Unable to take it anymore you tucked your face into his neck crying.
"Im sorry please im so sorry i wont do anything like this again". He sighed pushing throught the doors and made his way to the car park climbing into the back or a range rover holding you in his lap as the car began moving.
"Its a little to late for sorry baby, daddy has to punish you for being an extremly naughty little girl. Stealing and damaging daddies car running away and getting arrested lying to the police? What kind of daddy would let you get away with all that?" You shuddered mind wandering what he had instore for you, not just for punishment but the training he mentioned in the cell you squirmed in his lap as you mulled it all over feeling sick to your stomach.

ok for real i NEED to reread 2001 soon like. idk how but that book grew on me so much. it was kinda slow to start but i powered through and by the end i couldnt put it down and then it got me thinking for so long and its been like.. fuck a few years since the one and only time i read it and its like. im still thinking about it but i can barely remember it
also like I HAVE THOUGHTS i didnt really like the movie compared to the book.. the visuals were phenomenal but those super long shots lasted like 5 fucking minutes each and ruined the movie for me because like im sorry the african savanna is beautiful but i dont need to fucking stare at the sunset over the savanna for five whole fucking minutes before anything actually happens. and so many shots were like that it was  GOD DAMN excruciating. like i think i actually skipped through them when i watched the movie. the movie was fine otherwise but like as a whole experience it was fucking ruined by that shit it was so mind-numbingly boring i couldnt stand it. but then also i didnt really like how hal was characterized compared to the book? i mean i guess it was an interesting alternate take but like it kinda stripped him of everything that made him so interesting. like in the book the humans are so flat and boring but hal is SO interesting which is so funny cause like... the AI has more depth than the humans. but the movie just went with the standard oh ho evil artificial intelligence. while in the book it’s . JUST SO INTERESTING TO THINK ABOUT because hal only killed the other scientists and attempted to kill bowman out of some misguided self-preservation, he had no concept of sleep, because he was an AI and had never been temporarily shut down before! so when bowman threatened to disconnect him he thought that meant death, so he did what he did out of the belief that bowman was gonna kill him
AND WHEN BOWMAN ENTERS THE STARGATE like the book describes it as like.. he sees a bunch of alien civilizations, both ancient and long gone, and alive and thriving. like he’s given the opportunity to see how vast space is and how humans aren’t alone.. but in the movie it was just like. *weird fucking neon colors for LITERALLY ten minutes straight* *ominous choir* *SCARY AS FUCK still shots of bowman screaming*
like the movie went for more like.. mind melting existential crisis from witnessing things beyond human comprehension. it was very scary honestly it creeps me OUT but in the book it was more like.. ok yes i didnt know what the fuck was going on but it didnt creep me out? it was kinda like Mind Melty i guess but it was like, there’s tangible sights! bowman is WITNESSING things and we’re along for the ride. the mind melting existential crisis should come from the revelation that the universe is vast, but it is not empty, and there’s so much more out there than we could ever even imagine... not just. fucking neon colors for ten minutes. like the thing is is that the book WAS comprehensible... the thing that made that scene in the book so mind melty existential crisis was the fact that we were faced with a revelation.. which means that we could comprehend it. it was within human comprehension, its just that it was beyond our KNOWLEDGE up till that point.. whereas the movie seemed to go the route where like, it was COMPLETELY beyond human comprehension, so all we saw were NEON FUCKING COLORS FOR TEN MINUTES STRAIGHT
and also as he enters the star gate, in the book he says the absolutely ICONIC line "the thing's hollow – it goes on forever – and – oh my god! – it's full of stars!" (im ripping this from wikipedia LOL) but like THATS SO ICONIC IT STUCK WITH ME SO MUCH EVEN OVER ALL THESE YEARS. i remember reading this book on the bus ride to a quiz bowl competition and i read that line and it fucking GUTTED ME
but like.. from what i recall... i dont think the movie includes that line at all, or not even anything similar to it? maybe it does idk its been a few years as i said but like. lol
IDK. lol.. i have all these thoughts (that i just typed out lol) but then i havent read or watched 2001 in a few years so i cant ever like. articulate them correctly cause i barely remember it enough to like, really explain myself or know if what im saying is even real

Shitty samus returns review
i feel obligated to talk about how there hasnt been a new metroid game in 6 years, partly because its sad and i wanted more metroid, but mostly because every review ive seen started like this. 6 years is like 4 zeldas, 6 marios, 2 pokemons and 2 failed attempts at college. Yes technically metroid prime : chibi space marines + soccer came out in that time but if you couldnt tell by the (totally accurate title) that shit doesnt count. the world needed samus genociding aliens and promising strip teases if you do it fast enough. why not just do that by remaking the second worst metroid game(return of samus) with all the fixins of super, fusion, and zero mission. so yeah they did that something something transition story After defeating space pirates, destroying mother brain and the metroids in the first game, samus is on the galactic federations speed dial for anytime they fuck something up. This time, they find the metroid homeworld of SR388 and decide to go there without samus. 5 minutes later everyone is dead and they want samus to kill everything left on the planet. yay genocide. the story is basicly a setup to show off and kill a bunch of new metroid evolutions. its a pretty straightfoward story for a pretty straightfoward metroid game. they even got some beautiful artwork to show off these plot points as well as some chozo backstory. its some good shit. gameplay samus returns has built apon the tried and true formula of runing around, shooting aliens, and collecting shit that makes it easier to run around and shoot aliens. expect lots of caverns, hidden power ups bombable walls etc. if youve played a 2d metriod game super or after you have a pretty good idea what youre getting into. that being said there is enough new stuff here too to keep shit interesting. you have all the standard beams, missiles and bombs as well as the screw attack, morphball, spiderball, and grapple beam. the only thing missing is the shinespark, the lack of which makes back tracking a bit more tedious. most of the weapons function exactly the same althought the ice beam doesnt stack on the other beams which is kind of annoying / the grapple beam and powerbombs can pull off some new tricks. tbh im a spoiled brat and i wont be happy with the grapple beam until it has the same versatility as smash bros. as for new shit, you got a melee counter to deflect rush down enemies and set up for a quick kill or just push away critters that get to close. you have the 360 aim which makes it way easier to shoot down enemies at the cost of being locked into a standstill or jumping in place. and you got the aeion abilities that all deplete from a meter you can increase buy collecting upgrades. these abilities let you slow down time, shoot rapid fire, have a lightning armor that negates damage as well as increase the range of your mellee counter, and the scan pulse which can fill out chunks of your map and help find secrets. These new abilities are all really well implemented into the game, especially the 360 aim and the counter, i found myself using those very consistantly. they arent withought faults, the button used for the 360 takes up any space that could be used for a free running diagonal aim, something that is incredibly usefull but still doable by holding diagonal on the controll stick. the melee counter doesnt do any damage by itself which is kind of dissapointing to my fantasy of samus punching her foes to death. regardless the mechanic is still really fun even if i wish it was more damaging and could be used while running. the aeion abilities are great even if i only really used the rapid fire and slowmo when i was required. im too paranoid about running out of meter to ever use them outside of necesity or experimenting on how to kill a boss the fastest way possible. youll have plenty of time to experiment because you fight each form of metroid anywhere between 1 and 12 times. the metroids are fun, the melee counter quick time events and fighting the them in different arenas help keep shit interesting but at the end of the day youre still fighting some of these guys 10+ times. the 3 non metroid bosses are fun too, except maybe diggernaught, beating him was a little too criptic/trial and error -y. id say the bosses in this game are overall significantly harder than most of the other 2d games and im split on how to feel about it. on the one hand i like a challenge but on the other im an unstopable intergalctic genociding bounty hunter so i dont want to die 3 times on a digger robot FUCK YOU DIGGERNAUGHT. but yeah anyway i think the map is a little 2 linear for my taste. its set up in isolated levels with very little intersecting paths and almost no backtracking. for me it makes it feel less like a complete world and more like a series of stages seperated by elevators. it's a left over design from the original game that isnt exactly my cup of tea but also doesnt ruin the experience by any means. at least there are teleporters to make end game collecting easier. presentation i dont like the graphics in this game. all the edges are blocky but not really in a stylized way and the screan always seems blurry like there is to much light coming from the environment for the camera to get a crisp view. even the artwork has this overly lense flare thing going on. to be clear, the graphics in no way inhibit the gameplay. i think they get in way of the atmosphere of the game. for me id say about 50 percent of the metroid experience comes from the imursion and atmosphere that the games have. shit like big ass slugs, krysal caverns, waterfall and statues in the background go a long way to help in this department for SR but it feels like for every area there is with a great background or soundtrack there is another area with little to no soundtrack and the only background is blue or brown rocks. thats not to say this hasnt been the case in other metroid games but many of those had you spend more time running through each respective area. for me this familiarity with each area made each game feel like its own world. i remember traveling through talon IV swampy service because it was interesting, i did it a lot, and the music was great. i remember pendara drifts and norfair and kraid for all the same reasons, the seamed like part of a world. samus returns is a big circle of sometimes pretty caves and ruins connected by elevators . combine that with the less than stellar graphics (id take sprites any day) and you have a rather underwelming planet, at least on the whole. it probably doesnt help that i spent most of my time looking at the touch screen map instead of the actual game. i guess i could always just pause the game and and plan out my route on the map like i used to but meh. something i will praise about the presentation are the added cutscenes and semi quick time events. if you counter a certain bosses youll get a cutscene where you mash the missile button and beat the shit out of the bosses in spectacular ways. you fling some around by their tails, ride using there horns and all sorts of other crazy shit. these all give make samus seem as baddass as ever and really show off how strong she is. it might just be my favorite new feature in the game. i only recall 2 new/ remixed songs from metroid 2, the rest are recycled from other famous metroid games. whats there is great but id always love more. conclusion gameplay wise this might be the most refined and excessable entry in the series, at least in terms of being user friendly. controls are tight, responsive, customizable and the touch screen makes flippin through shit a breaze. the touch screen map combine with the aeion map pulse make exploring easier than ever(i haved mixed feeling but i also dont have to use it so whatever). the bosses are challenging and rarely unfair. the overall presentation is passable but not stellar. the map is pretty linear which could turn off some but does streamline the experience. overall i really enjoyed this game for what it was, as much as i harped on about things that i think have been done better in other entries in the series. i guess for a rating uh, i think i like it better than fusion but not as much as zero mission or super. lemme know if you guys want more ramblings in the future

also wtf who designed rune factory 4 this way THIS IS MY ONLY COMPLAINT IN AN AMAZING GAME why are all the romance routes entirely random?? even after youve reached the relationship milestones its COMPLETELY RANDOM whether the event will start every day same for every friendship event and town event and even some plot events you just have to sit there at your bed constantly skipping days for multiple years til the random number god gives you the marriage scene you did EVERYTHING to earn this marriage scene and you have nothing left to do but wait and youll never see any new events with that character until it happens, and you have a very limited amount of dates to go on while youre waiting, and they all do NOTHING except raise the relationship bar over maximum which does nothing. doesnt even increase the chance of the random event?? why even LET me increase it over maximum if it does nothing? thats just tricking me into thinking i havent unlocked the marriage event yet! when I HAVE and i just need to WAIT A BAZILLION YEARS OF RANDOM
anyway i finally got Leon’s random marriage quest and it was Awesome and So Many Tears and now im even more conflicted on who to marry gahhhhh its such a shame you cant resolve everyone’s plot unless you date them, i feel so bad dating all these people when im not able to marry them all, just cos i wanna fix their lives and make them happy but then theyre gon be sad that we didnt get married aaaa
and Leon is especially saddddd
now cos his whole plot is that he had a depressing scenario with a friend as a kid. She loved him but he saw her as just a little sister, and he jokingly promised to marry her once when they were too young to understand. And he didnt know she took it seriously until after he DIED and reincarnated as a fox monster person centuries later too late to do anything about it. And he’s crushed full of guilt that he somehow led her on, and he was never able to apologise, and he’s scared she spent her whole life waiting for him to come back. and then you get this very cool series of sidequests thatre a realistic look at translating languages, and its really motivational how leon is able to help bring knowledge of a dead language back to life and preserve the ancient culture that people thought was lost BUT THEN ENDLESS FUCKIN TRAGEDY kiel accidentally finds an old diary of leon’s friend (WHAT ARE THE ODDS) and he has frickin detailed anxiety attacks unable to even hold the damn paper cos he’s shaking so much and you go on a big treasure hunt to find all the pages and he’s just CRYING SO MUCH mr playboy man! mr flirty asshole! mr stoic! he’s fuckin crying and he cant hold a book without your help and aaaa and his whole story is about how he isnt really the negative stereotypes of a flirty character, he really REALLY values love and he feels depressed he cant love everyone who loves him, so he tries to fake it. And he tries to push people away whenever it seems genuine, but also like... entertain them enough that they dont feel he doesnt love them, i guess? and no matter how promiscuous a person is, they still cant love EVERYONE, you cant just force a relationship on them and say they must be asking for it cos they date other people and enjoy sex. its so depressing that he considers his biggest flaw that he wasnt able to force himself to love someone he didnt, especially when he did care about her, just as a best friend instead! if theyd just talked about it, it would have saved all this heartache for both of them! so then we start piecing together this book and it looks like his worst fears are confirmed, she spent her whole life waiting for him and hating him and its really fucking EXPLODINGLY SAD and then the quest is a bit confusing so i spent several days stuck on this point not knowing who to talk to next, going through random dungeons in case that somehow helped. turned out i did find the right spot but the quest just doesnt progress until you talk to the right person first GAH! stuck for five days on crying leon scene!! NOOOOOO but I finally got past it and CLIMACTIC HAPPY END or bittersweet end more like we find out we mistranslated one bit which was actually PAGE NUMBERS, and we were missing a page all along! and then the final page reveals that she actually moved on and found a new love and had a happy family and grew old together, and her only frustration with leon was imagining that he couldnt find the same thing, worrying that she’d betrayed him. So this wasnt a diary, it was actually a letter she wrote for him to find, having confidence he’d wake up someday and have another chance at happiness! She just wanted him to know that she kept his memory alive and she’s sorry and she was happy and AAAAAAUUUGH im tearing up again the bit that really got me was that we find out that leon’s favourite romance novel was actually written by her. It was so popular it survived into the modern day as a literature classic, and it convinces him that she really was happy with her new boyfriend if she could write something as beautiful as this. And he wants to embody the spirit of the book with you, and keep his new promise to her to have a happy family of his own :) ... AGHHHHHHHHAAAAAHHHHH why cant i marry everyone why do so many of them have plots where it seems like they wont be happy unless i love them... even now i dont really think the leon pairing is my favourite, i wish i could have had this plot as a friendship route! i think it would have resonated just as much since the whole backstory is about him being friends with someone who had unrequited love for him. i wanna be leon’s bestie and ultimate wingman! I like him a lot but I dont really think i wanna marry him! IM SO SORRY LEON AAAA he’s such a soulful beefcake dammit I’m sure he’d find a bazillion better lovers! I’m sure a lot of players did marry him! WHY DO I FEEL SO GUILTY AAAAA its not fair, aaaa arthur was the first one i dated and i also really care about him but in his case his way of acting in the romance isnt very different to when youre just friends so i dont think i wanna commit to that relationship maybe? it might change when i see his final random event but i dont get much ‘he’ll be happy with you’ vibes, its just strengthening their powerful brotp that they had from the start of the game. he feels like someone protagonist would indeed date, but theyd part again on friendly terms after it didnt work out, and then be amicable exes who still care a lot about each other. and I just feel like I wanna marry dylas even though he’s had the least tragic events so far. gahhhh! he just seems SO HAPPY dating you, and has loads of character development since it started, unlike the other two ive seen the dates for. he feels like he’s actually getting something out of this that he wouldnt if we were just friends? its so hard trying to weigh up the pros and cons of romance options in games when im inacapble of actually being attracted to anyone, its just ‘i care about you all and i wanna give you the best possible ending’. I haaaaate when games have it so that romance is always the best possible ending for every single character and they all suffer forever if you dont pick them :P and I havent even seen the romances with the other three dudes yet! GAHHHHH!! Theyre all the ones I wasnt immediately interested in dating, but that opinion could totally change, i could end up with a six way tie :P ... ALSO RANDOM BUT is anyone else really uncomfortable with the queerbaiting in this game? there is a LOt, a LOT of ‘lol maybe gay’, sometimes so clear that it seems the game is outright canonically stating this character is gay or bisexual yet you have no option to marry them unless youre the opposite sex. It gets REALLY uncomfortable with Dylas, he just,,, does not express any interest in women at all unless the player pursues him. And his mutual crush with doug is CONSTANTLY REFERENCED, and called out very clearly for what it is. IOf the game didnt keep pointing it out i would have been able to shrug it off as just accidental chemistry from a failed rivalry plotline or something, but we have EVERYONE saying ‘oh a lover’s quarrel’ and ‘be honest about your feelings’ and ‘i bet you wanna see doug in a swimsuit’ and ‘gee i really wanna see doug in a swimsuit’ and IT CANT BE ANY MORE CANON THAN THIS. And.. like.. Dylas even says he DOESNT wanna see women in swimsuits, he’s just here at the beach cos Doug might come along. He does not express any interest in women at all except the protagonist! It makes me feel SO uncomfortable! it feels like he’s actually gay, when with most other characters they seem bisexual?? I dunno how to explain it, thats just how it comes off to me. Why is there no option for him and doug to date, why cant i date him as the male protagonist?? His romance route is so totally gender neutral, i did the postgame protagonist swap cheat and it just feels more in-character for him this way. if im gonna steal him away from Doug i dont want it to be a weird gay conversion therapy type thing, it just feels so WEIRD. The one and ONLY stated crush he has on another character, and its gay, and theres NO OPTION FOR IT TO HAPPEN and then he suddenly becomes 100% straight and never talks about doug again if a fem protagonist dates him. SO WEEEEEIRD... I’m just gonna sit here on the non-canon bonus feature dylas x male protag train and never leave. If you cant have doug you shall have the transitioned me! Its funny cos he’s like the only batchelor i very vehemently cannot ship with fem protag, yet do with male protag :P but GAHHH leon deserves a family and i could give him a child and aaaaa SO HARD TO CHOOSE also i am sad that the postgame cheatmode lets you switch to any character but if its not one of the two protags its only your overworld model and not your face portraits. Its weird because every batchelor and batchelorette has the exact same full set of emotions and costumes, so why cant i access that?? its also a shame cos it means i cant roleplay my doug and dylas marriage properly :P CMON MAN WHY U EVEN TELL ME THEY IN LOVE IF THEY CANT BE IN LOVE :P they have the best portmanteau ship name too! douglas! :P

From Coffs Harbour to home - 18 Jan 17
We arrived at Coffs Harbour on the 11th. Once inside the inner harbour we motored around looking for the refuelling jetty. It wasn't where it was claimed in Navionics, but that gave me the opportunity to try out close quarter handling, like 3 point turns and curb stops etc. I figured that as long as I went really slowly it would be OK. But you can't go too slowly or you can't steer at all, so we pottered around in the marina looking for fuel and testing out what did what and how much of this or that was necessary. I had briefed Hunter on the likely hood that we would be berthing on the starboard side, and I had set up the longer spring that side, but when we finally found the pump outside the fisheries co-op, we needed to revise everything for portside. It was a bit of a comedy for the locals fishing nearby, first off i stopped the boat a bit short when I had to help Hunter get the port spring through the fairlead and left it in reverse too long, then we lost the head warp when Hunter didn't knot it on the bollard, then we ended up having to move anyway because we weren't close enough to the pump. The real reason for pulling up on the refuelling wharf was to get a chance to find out the lie of the land, make some phone calls, arrange the repairs, see if we could get a berth etc. Getting the sail fixed was easy, although it wasn't going to happen until the following day. Getting the fuel was also easy, although a quick squirt with the high flow pump ended with more on the deck than in the tank. I wasnt to discover the reason for this until the following day, but in the meantime it transpired that due to major works happening on the public dock it was unuseable, and the marina was mainly full and through some unusual circumstances of their own (which sounded more like obfuscation to me) could not offer any berths, but we could stay on the refuelling dock provided we were out of the way by dawn when the fishing fleet returned. We were also required to pull back to the end of the dock, but we couldnt stay there as there was a 100ft schooner due in that evening. Eventually the schooner turned up so we had to go and anchor. It shouldn't have been too hard, after all I had done it the day before. But there was more to learn about anchoring. Because I had used the winch to bring the anchor fully home it had jammed in the housing and I couldn't move it. Hunter patiently drove around in circles while I tried to find tools to get the bloody thing free. So then I thought I would try setting the little anchor, it was tied down with a host of Lionel knots and wasn't going over the side anytime soon, and certainly not while the big anchor was in the way. Finally i got the 50kg Bruce over the side, silly bugger, i hadnt pulled the collar up on the winch. More amusement for the locals. This time I decided I needed to know what scope we had, so I hand pulled 20m of chain out of the locker, and that I decided was the last time I would do that without gloves on. To make matters worse, it appeared we had run out of water so I couldnt get the greasy rusty mess off. Let me tell you that waterless anti bacterial hand wash does not cut it when it comes to rusty grease and mud. The water situation had started to become a bit of an issue. In Southport I had showered after our swim with no problems, but there was no water for Hunters shower. That was a bit strange. After playing with the water pressure switch it came back. By the time we got to Coffs I was starting to think that maybe we were out all together. At surfers we had bought plenty of drinking water, but decided not to replace the brick we started out with (that upended and thereby emptied itself on the galley floor) as we wouldn't be able to carry it back to the boat, and besides we had both tried the tank water and were still alive.. So by the time we had settled at anchor and there was once again no water for cooking or showers I was starting to think that maybe we had used one tank completely and needed to switch to the other, but how? I couldn't remember that part of Lionels briefing, and the recordings I had made were over two hours long! A quick email to Lionel got the valve issue sorted out, and yes, one tank was turned off. That should have been the water situation put to bed, but no, next morning I had just got the shampoo out of my hair when it went off again. So when we traipsed back to the dock to drop off the torn mainsail, I pulled further in to top up the water. That was a performance. The water hose was industrial size and water came out at fairly high pressure which was too much for our system to copy with. I'm sure the air must get out somewhere else normally, but my efforts were causing the air pressure to build up in the filler, then gush out with the last ten gallons of water like a guiser. Needless to say it took ages to get the empty tank filled. And that should have been the end of the water problem, but no! Next time I was in the shower, after having just soaped up my whole body and ready to rinse off... no bloody water again. Now we were running out of ideas and only 1 thing was left to suspect, the pump itself. Apparently they have a habit of getting an air lock in the pressure switch, perhaps this was the problem. And so it seems that if we run out of water now, we just cycle the pump and it seems to get a second wind. The rest of that day we didn't do much as we waited for Pierre to return our sail. Hunter had a swim and I swotted up on the next leg of the route home. By 3pm the sail was ready, Hunter had been for a swim off the boat and the rest of the day dawned peaceful and sunny. Except it wasn't that peaceful, the sail was really heavy and just about did me in, so I decided to leave getting it back on the mast until morning. Then the RIB took off on its own and Hunter had to swim a quick 100m to catch up with it before it got on the rocks. He was quite pleased with himself when he caught up with it, got the motor going and got back to the boat. Funilly enough we had both tied knots to secure it, Hunter the bow painter, and me the stern painter when we were unloading the sail, so it had managed to elude the both of us. More to learn on knots here me thinks. The weather report wasn't good. We were in a bit of a trap situation for the following day. The local weather at Coffs was fine for leaving, but further down the coast the wind was gale force and the options to run for cover few and far between, so we decided to take a break on the Saturday, which meant that the Sunday was also going to be out too, because the weather was going to be awful for leaving.. Oh well. This is what cruising is all about. We killed time on the Friday by shopping and reading, on the Saturday by zipping around Coffs on the two bikes, and by the time Sunday dawned wet and miserable we were really ready to leave. During Saturday we were joined at anchor by Brian in Yolla. He was keen to move onto the moorings by the old wharf so I gave him a hand to pick up the mooring line, and he did he same for me. Interesting guy, he'd spent two years on his boat, but was very jealous of mine. A whole different level of comfort to his little ship. Still, he was doing it, that was the main thing. Next day in the miserable weather he was a great help to us when the tender took off again! Damn thing is determined to leave us. He spotted it on the breakwater and came over to pick me up and helped me retrieve it. Fortunately there was no obvious damage. The jury is out on any slow punctures etc. That evening Spirit of Freya pulled into the marina. We had met the guy when we anchored in Main Beach, when he had come over for a chat. He too had been on his boat for a number of years, and perhaps coincidentally related a story of being cast ashore in northern Queensland and damaging his rudder. Operating on a shoe string budget he had been forced to careen the steel sloop (daggy rust bucket), to fix it. After motoring into the marina, he returned to drop anchor by the southern breakwater, as we knew he would. We had heard him calling marine rescue for advice on entering the harbour and getting a berth, and he had also mentioned having troubles with his running rigging and islands on his electronic charts that weren't there! We knew the marina was full and large parts like the public wharf were just not operational. So when he emerged from the marina to find an anchoring spot I thought I'd just keep an eye on him. No sooner did I decide this, he ran aground over by the marina breakwater, not 50yds behind us. He had been preparing his anchor when I saw him run back to his wheelhouse and start playing with his engine. For a while it looked like he might get off if he just applied the right amount of power just as an incoming swell lifted the boat. But it was not to be, gradually the nose of the boat fell away from the wind and the waves pushed him sideways onto the beach. While I was sitting bemused by the whole drama, without a single clue what I might be able to do to help, Brian gets on the radio and calls marine rescue, whose office is no more than 50yds from where all the drama is happening. Why the skipper of Sprit of Freya, hadn't done so already I dont understand. Anyway, marine rescue follow all the correct protocols, dotting the i's and crossing the t's, and completing all the necessary paper work like registration numbers and weight, height and type of boat, you can hear the frustration building. Eventually marine rescue come on the air to say he is too heavy for them to deal with and they have been told to pass the matter on to the water police. Ages later, a group wanders down the quay, shines a torch on the boat, then goes back home. Their big shiny police boat never even leaves the dock even though it could have more than likely done the job in 5min flat! The following morning when we left Coffs Harbour he was well and truly cast on the beach. Hunter and I felt truly sorry for him and his boat, but we had a weather window and had to get going. Our intention was to get to Port Stephens while the wind was in the east, and before it turned back to the south again. We left under grey miserable wet skies, but by the time we had motored out the rain had stopped, so we hoisted everything we had and got down to some pleasant sailing. Unfortunately it didn't last long. The wind was supposed to back to the north, instead it just died altogether, so it was time for the washing machine again. There were many small pods of dolphins that came by us, and the air was constantly alive with short tailed shearwater, arcing and skimming the surface of the waves. Very occasionally there would be terns, and quite often I could hear the chirp of penguins. But that may have just been something in the rigging, I never actually caught sight of any. I had hoped to see whales, but it would probably have been too early in the season for them to be migrating south. A large bug landed on the pushpit rail, and stayed for a couple of hours. I expect he didn't live long after that. A dragonfly also buzzed the cockpit, I can't say I held out much hope for his future. We motored most of the day hoping to keep ahead of the changing weather and a late arrival at Port Stephens. I wasnt happy about having to arrive after dark to anchor. In fact, I still wasn't happy being out of the cockpit changing sails after dark. Fortunately I didn't have to, as the wind never did kick in from the north, however this meant an awkward night with the rocking and rolling. We motored on into the next day, in fact we did nearly 22hrs on the engine before finally getting a good breeze just after lunch off Seal Rocks. But it was right on our tail, so I left the main down, and stuck the staysail on its boom out to windward. I call it my chicken wing sail plan. It works quite well when you have a respectable breeze, but the Genoa flops around alot when there is nothing to keep it filled. Still, beats motoring. We were initially getting a good seven knots, but by nightfall it was down again. During the day it became obvious that we were to miss our revised eta for Port Stephens, so I revised the plan completely, and decided to spend another night out so as to get to Broken Bay by day break. This had the advantage of avoiding getting stuck in Port Stephens with a worsening outlook for the following day. Night fell as we approached Newcastle, and initially I miss took the lights along the horizon for the shore line. Only when we got closer did I realise that they werent the southern suburbs of Newcastle, but a long row of bulk carriers waiting to enter the port. I didn't feel like mixing it with those guys, so we stood well clear. At 2am I called Lake Maquarie marine rescue to notify them of our position, which I was most pleased to report was as accurate as forecast earlier in the day. We had a modest NE wind pushing us along, still with the chicken wing going, but before nightfall I had swapped to running port side to avoid getting too close to downwind with a windward shore. Since having figured out how to use the auto steering, nights had become alot easier to manage. I felt more comfortable now with Hunter standing a watch, so about 10pm I went below for a break. The wind backed once to starboard and he was pretty quick to get me on deck. I felt confident in going back down again and leaving him to it, but a couple of hours later a wind shift happened quite suddenly and I was out of bed and up on deck before he had time to come down to wake me. It had finally backed to the NW, and by daybreak it was a good 15kt. So we left the main down, put the staysail away and finally made Broken Bay at around 7am. There was something quite strange about that wind. It was to be the start of a very stressful day. The wind was almost hot, at least 10deg warmer than it had been. I had been wearing a light sweater under my waterproof and lifejacket during the night, and Hunter had been hunkered down with the doona off his bed to keep warm. Suddenly we were quite hot, and had to discard it all. It was a great relief to put the sails away and motor up the Hawkesbury river, we had made it! It was the end of a great journey, something the like of which I had never done before, but the start of many more to come. All we had to do now was to find somewhere safe to put Sea Whisper to bed. What a great boat. Not once did I feel apprehensive with her, although she challenges me to work her out and find ways that I can manage her. #journeyapp
