Fallen London update:
I'm catching up on some Exceptional Stories. Some bandaged priest showed Leece a prophecy on an ancient stone tablet with her face on it. She's involved in The Future. Time to go deal with that, right?
She travels to a frozen shrine site, through tunnels of black glass that cut her. She leaves a bloody trail, drop by drop, deeper in. She sees an altar with a knife on it.
Leece, your father was the last Jack of Smiles. Remember that? Remember seeing him die, remember hearing all of London celebrate that Jack of Smiles would never kill again, remember being unable to mourn the man who was your father because he'd ruined everything, ruined you, brought you to the Neath and damned you to darkness and made you hunger for light and warmth, and then he died and you could neither celebrate nor cry? Remember Jack of Smiles, and the knife that took over his mind?
Leece grabbed the knife from the altar. She grabbed the knife from the altar, and heard the hunger for blood, and thought about the father she hadn't thought about for years.
Can she even break the future, when it feels like history is repeating itself? When she's covered in blood and holding a knife, like her father was?
"Everything in this place was done in service to their hunger." She'll nod, she'll mumble a promise to be careful. But what about her hunger, Emissary? What about the hunger of Jack-Of-Smiles' Daughter, the hunger she didn't even realise she had?
#of course I run out of actions right on the cliffhanger#i need to write up Leece's Light Fingered Adventures but hhhh#how does Failbetter keep doing this#the stories feel *tailored* to me and my character#I love this#I love them#I love this game#Failbetter Games#Fallen London
