okay yknow what i’m coming in swinging with my own theorizing about the vikingpilot lore stream.

so that note was a fragment of The Book, huh?  it seemed... look if we’re being honest here that note was very context dependent.  referring directly to its reader (taneesha)’s situation, and also to the location where it was found.  which would be strange for a passage from a book that was presumably located in a different location and presumably initially being read by someone who doesn’t (yet) need answers to where they came from.

and if that’s the case, either whoever put that fragment there wrote in some context dependent context notes to replace the normal description of the ritual whose components were “DESTROY THEM ALL”, or magic rituals are written pretty damn unhingedly (entirely possible), or the text... changed.

and if the text can change to suit the whims of the context it finds itself in, then The Book is probably sentient.
