OK but actually, I do think they’d need fairly strict power structures. Loose, argument/debate based structures might work well for the noldor, where people generally have incentive not to kill each other, but the people in charge of angband have the stabby-s so a group discussion based thing was ruled out pretty fast.

So up top is obviously Morgoth, and even if Sauron and Gothmog were very close in his council, it’s still curtains for anyone who dares disagree with the dark lord *ooo scary*

I think my imagining of Angband is mostly influenced from what I read about Morder and the orcs there, so on that drift: there’s many different factions of Morgoth’s army, and most of them are at least some what represented there at Angband (being head quarters and all) which leads to a lot of fighting between groups (like in lotr). When people are publicly caught fighting (and just an FYI I use “people” to mean literally any sentiment being) they’re often harshly punished- can’t let the army self destruct, but private fights are perfectly acceptable to morgoth, he’s fine with the most cut throat of leaders rising to the top (so in some ways my earlier statement about yelling was true!)

There are, ofcourse, those no one would dare to mess with. People like Gothmog, for example, who would wreck your shit if you even look at them wrong and people like Thuringwethil, who, in addition to being personally dangerous, have dangerous friends (Sauron in this case) who would end you if you touch their friend.

“oi what are you saying? first its all betrayal and fighting to the top now it’s besties??” I’m saying that theres a very strange loyalty that courses through Angband. To the captains who might offer their squad protection to the generals who vie for the best offensive position, who ensure the best for their group, and who ensure every group wants to out do and out compete the others, etc. Like a bunch of mini cults in one big cult. (I Do Not Know how cults work)

Well Sauron I believe really does love Morgoth. Whether or not he particularly liked angband? ehhhh, he left the fortress pretty fast. But the guy spends the next age making an actual cult based on Melkor and really seems to carry on in his memory so while there’s probably some conflict I doubt there’s any real animosity.

for everyone else, i really don’t know. It mostly depends on how they got there. (now I’m just imagining some dude like “well Idk my buddy from school was going and sometimes you’ve just gotta join the forces of darkness ya know?” while some very unimpressed non-angbandians look on)

Denmark: Do you wish for something of your past?Nah, not really. I try my best to look forward, not back.

Egypt: Do you stand up for what you believe in? How?Ummmm, I’m not sure I could say I’m that active in it. I once wrote a long, anonymous letter to the headteacher or my school wrt the treatment and education of lgbt people. Besides that? I havent dont much. I’d go to a protest if there was one nearby that I supported.

England: Are you controlling?That’s hard to answer? Because when things happen my initial instinct is to control them. But I’m a lot more chilled out than I used to be, and continuing to try to improve on it. So the amount of things I actively try to control are very slim. The issues lies more with my hatred of vague plans tbh 😂

Estonia: Do you think people often misunderstand you?I don’t open up to that many people, not really. Most the therapists I’ve seen have never got me at all. In terms of friends, some do get it, though it depends upon what specifically I’m trying to explain/show etc.

Finland: What do you prefer; kindness, sternness or apathy?Kindness, for sure. It’s nice to know other people might look out for you when you’re not necesarily in a place to look out for yourself. Sternness is just,, hard to communicate with and apathy can put me on edge.

I’d just broken up from school for summer that day and we had an estate agent coming to value the house the next day so we could move out of the Flood Zone. That evening it rained and rained and I ran around the village asking council people to help us but no one came so we stayed up till 2am pouring water from around the house into wheelie bins to try and stop it coming in. Then I had a breakdown in the bath and just remember feeling so trapped. I never want to go through that again.
