I would do anything for a beth centric episode that doesn't revolve around her relationship w jerry. Like a beth psychoanalyzation episode, with her inner voice how she feels about raising her kids, how she feels about her dad coming back after so long of no contact, about herself. I wish we got some insight to how she was in her teens, was she resentful towards rick? Did she hate her mother? Were both of her parents absent like did diane in her universe raise her or did her grandparents or something I NEED TO KNOW
Tumblr media
can we get beth and rick plotlines now as well

👉👈 Because your my fav writer for Dad Daryl 👉👈 Just wondering if you’d consider him stepping up as a parental figure for his niece (Merle’s kid) after he “died” and when he actually died 👉👈
I'm Right Here | Uncle!Daryl Dixon x Niece!Reader (platonic/familial)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*GIF isn't mine.*
Summary: With Merle gone, you were the only family Daryl had left. He had unofficially stepped up as your dad, and in those eight months with your actual father "dead", Daryl was a better dad than Merle ever was. And he proved it in more ways than one, even before Merle went missing.
Genre: Fluff, some light angst.
Era: The Quarry, The Prison (season three).
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of blood and death, fear of abandonment.
Word count: 2.4k
A/n: I've been bouncing back and forth between fics and finally managed to finish this. Next up is I Never Lived For The Applause, and then some more young!Daryl. Anyhow, I hope you like this!
➳༻❀✿❀༺➳
“Hey, kiddo. Ya alrigh'?”
“I'm fine. The walkers didn't get me,” you tried to reassure him. “You didn't find my dad?”
You looked up at the sound of your uncle's voice, meeting his intense gaze. You gave him a small, unconvincing smile that he could see through instantly.
Daryl sat down on the log next to you, placing his crossbow down on the ground. He stared ahead at the ashes of the prior night's fire, an unreadable expression on his face. “Nah. Wasn't nothin' to find 'cept his hand. He had to cut it off.”
You winced, absentmindedly grabbing your own hand at the mere thought of the pain that it must've caused your father. Despite your strained relationship with the man for obvious reasons, he didn't deserve that fate—to lose his hand because some people couldn't find another way to deal with his temper.
“Oh,” you mumbled, feeling your heart break. Despite everything, Merle was your father and you loved him. At least he had stuck around. The same couldn't be said for your mother, who had dropped you on Merle's doorstep the moment you were born.
“Yeah,” Daryl responded, instantly picking up on your downtrodden mood but not knowing how to bring you comfort in a moment like that. He'd just essentially told you, his thirteen year old niece that was so wise beyond her years due to the shit Merle had gotten into, that your father was most likely dead. It tore him apart to have to bestow that news on you, but it was necessary. What could he do, lie to you? That was out of the question.
You blinked the tears away that had started to well up in your eyes, trying to put on a brave face for your uncle. “Looks like it's just us now, huh, uncle Daryl? The two remaining Dixons.”
Daryl gave you a tight-lipped smile and ruffled your hair, chuckling quietly at the sound of protest you let out. “Looks like it. We're gon' give the world hell, ya and I. Jus' like the old times.”
You smiled up at him. Even though your father was gone, you still had your uncle, and that made you feel better about everything.
“We are. The world ain't ready for us.”
➳༻❀✿❀༺➳
“It won't work.”
“S'gotta.”
“It'll stir things up,” Rick told Daryl, adamant with his decision.
“Look, the Governor's probably on the way to the prison righ' now. Merle knows how he thinks, and we could use the muscle,” Daryl replied defiantly, glancing between his companions on the road.
“Do you really want him sleeping in the same cellblock as Carol, Beth or Y/n?” Glenn questioned, unwilling to let Merle, a known hothead and former drug user, near the people he's come to care about.
“He ain't a rapist,” Daryl responded, frowning at Glenn's accusation. “And he sure as hell wouldn't touch his own daughter like tha'. Merle may be sick in some ways, but he ain't like tha'.”
“Yeah, okay, but his buddy is.”
“They ain't buddies no more. Not after last nigh'.”
Rick chipped in to the conversation, turning the archer's attention back to him. “There's no way Merle's gonna live there without putting everyone at each other's throats.”
“What, so ya'd cut Merle loose and bring the last samurai home with us?” Daryl asked, motioning over to Michonne who was waiting for them by the car.
“She's not coming back with us.”
“She's not in a state to be on her own,” Maggie denied, giving Rick a pointed look.
Glenn nodded in agreement to his girlfriend's statement. “She did bring you guys to us.”
“And then ditched us,” Rick stated in a bored tone, eyeing Michonne warily.
“At least let my dad stitch her up?” Maggie asked.
“It's too unpredictable,” Rick denied vehemently, shaking his head.
Daryl nodded in agreement. “He's righ', we dun' know who she is. But Merle... Merle's blood.”
“No. Merle is your blood. My blood, my family is standing right here and waiting for us back at the prison,” Glenn countered, crossing his arms over his chest.
“And you're part of that family,” Rick told Daryl, looking at him expectantly. “He's not. He's not.”
Daryl stayed quiet for a few moments, pondering over his decisions. Thoughts of leaving with Merle, going off and fending for themselves like the old days flashed through his mind, but then he thought of you. You, his sweet, kind, low-key badass, now fourteen year old niece who he'd gone to great lengths to protect over the past eight months. The girl who he'd been taking care of since his brother "died", the girl who had unknowingly started to feel like his own daughter, though he would never tell Merle that. And at that moment, he knew he couldn't just leave. He wouldn't.
“Man, wha' do y'all expect me to tell my niece?” Daryl began, effectively silencing everyone. “Tha' I found her father after all this time and he's alive, but he couldn't come back to her 'cause y'all said so? How's tha' gon' fly with her? Ya'd really deprive the girl a chance at gettin' her father back 'cause of wha' might happen?”
That seemed to really make everyone reconsider. Even Glenn didn't have a counter argument now. Everything was silent for a good thirty seconds while Rick weighed his options, exchanging wordless exchanges with Maggie and Glenn. It was clear that nobody wanted it, but the group couldn't deny Daryl's argument. They cared about you, and it would be unfair for them to deny you the chance of getting your father back.
Rick turned and whistled, signalling Merle over. When he stood in front of him, Rick gripped him by his shirt, getting into his face.
“You're coming with us, but this isn't an invitation for you to be a jackass with everyone back at the prison. The only reason you're even coming back is because of your daughter. If it wasn't for her, you'd be gone.”
Merle's eyes widened the slightest bit with surprise, but it soon morphed back into his usual careless look. “Well, would ya look at tha'. My lil' girl still lives. M'surprised, quite honestly. Didn't think she was built fer this world. Kinda expected her to have kicked the bucket by now.”
“Man, shut up!” Daryl's voice boomed unexpectedly, shutting his brother up. “Dun' make me regret convincin' them to bring ya back. And if ya even say one degradin' thing to yer daughter, I will personally gut ya and feed ya to the walkers. Tha' kid's been through 'nough.”
Unbeknownst to either brother, Rick, Glenn and Maggie had walked ahead to get everything settled into the car, leaving the two brothers to their feud. It was a good idea, too. That was a family matter.
“Wha', ya actually care 'bout her now? Didn't see ya stickin' 'round to play pretend with her back before the world went to shit, and now yer tryna tell me how to parent my own child? Nah, lil' bro. Tha' ain't how it works.”
Daryl scoffed and shoved past him, walking over to the car. He didn't miss the unmistakable sound of Merle's laughter, rolling his eyes at it. He pressed forward and slipped into the passenger's seat, not missing the way everyone tensed up when Merle got into the car.
He just hoped that he hadn't made the wrong decision by bringing Merle back.
➳༻❀✿❀༺➳
You and Carl were rushing over to the gates when you saw the familiar vehicle enter the courtyard. The car was noticeably more crowded, and with one glance through the window, you were relieved to see your uncle. You had been so worried that something might have happened to him, but there he was, relatively unscathed.
Daryl was barely out of the car when you practically launched yourself into his arms. He stumbled a bit but regained his footing, hugging you tightly to him. He didn't miss the unmistakable sound of your sniffles.
“Hey, kiddo, s'alrigh'. M'okay,” he reassured you in whispered tones, rubbing his hand up and down your back in comfort.
“I was so scared. I couldn't stop fearing the worst,” you choked out, trying to will the sobs away. You buried your face into your uncle's shirt, dampening it slightly with your tears, but he didn't seem to mind.
“M'righ' here. I ain't goin' nowhere, I promise,” he assured you. “No more tears, alrigh'? Ain't no more need fer 'em.”
“Well, ain't this jus' sweet.”
A familiar raspy voice met your ears. You tensed up, pulling away from the hug and turning around, facing the man you had thought to be dead for eight months—your father, Merle Dixon.
“Wha', no hugs fer yer old man, girl?” Merle asked, a grin on his face as he extended his arms in a silent invitation for a hug. “Yer not gon' greet the man who helped with givin' ya life?”
Subconsciously, you took a step back. Daryl stepped in front of you, shielding you with his body. He gave Merle a warning glare before turning to you.
“Why dun' ya go help Hershel with tha' lady we brought back? I know he's been teachin' ya some medical things. It'd do ya good to learn how to do stitches.” You nodded, understanding his underlying message and sped off, leaving him alone with Merle. Daryl turned to face him, a glare on his face. “Man, back the hell off. She ain't gotta give ya anythin' if she dun' want to.”
“Because I was with the enemy?”
“'Cause yer a simple minded piece of shit who never even bothered to play dolls with her, much less give her hugs! Ya wanna know somethin'? When tha' lady dropped her off on our doorstep, who do ya think took care of her when yer ass was too high or drunk to? To answer yer question from earlier, I did stick 'round. I changed her diapers. I bathed her, fed her, stayed up with her at nigh' when ya wouldn't. I took care of her. Ya were jus' too fuckin' out of it most of the time to realise it! Hell, did ya think those things happened magically?”
“Now listen here, bro—” Merle started, but Daryl didn't light up.
“And when she got older, who the hell do ya think took her to school? Picked her up, encouraged her to do the spelling bee, went to parent teacher conferences? Do ya think the fuckin' tooth fairy did tha'? Say wha' ya want, bro, but she dun' owe ya shit. Ya may not have been like dad, but ya weren't a good father, either.”
Merle stayed silent for a moment, the weight of his brother's final statement weighing heavily on his shoulders. “Then why the hell did ya convince 'em to bring me back?”
“'Cause despite everythin', tha' girl still loves ya. And she deserves to have her father 'round,” Daryl responded simply before turning around and stalking off, leaving Merle alone and dumbfounded.
Merle Dixon wasn't right about most things, but one thing he knew for certain he was right about was that you probably didn't care whether he was dead or not. If what Daryl was saying was true, you didn't need him. You had a perfectly good father figure in your life already. Daryl had been a better father to you than your actual father was.
And for some unknown reason, that crushed Merle's heart.
➳༻❀✿❀༺➳
“You found him like that?”
Daryl's heart shattered at the broken sound of your voice. It was the second time that he had needed to tell you that Merle was dead, but this time, it was real. Your father's lifeless corpse layed motionless six feet in the ground in the designated graveyard, Daryl having dragged him there and buried him.
Daryl nodded. “Found him as a walker. He had tried to kill the governor but failed. Son of a bitch got to him first.”
“I should've stopped him. I should've known that something was wrong,” you said, a sob threatening to escape your body. “Before he left, he told me that he was proud of me. That he loved me. I should've known that there was a reason to it. He never told me that before. I should've—”
A choked up sob finally fell past your lips. Daryl instinctively pulled you into his arms, offering to be the pillar of strength for you as you crumbled. Despite everything, Merle was still your father. You still had a handful of good memories with the man—when he wasn't drunk or high, Merle was an okay father. But just okay.
It took a while, but you finally managed to calm down. Instinctively, Daryl pressed a soft kiss to the top of your head, running his hand soothingly over your back.
“S'alrigh', kiddo,” he whispered soothingly.
You didn't know what made you say what you said next. Maybe it was the fact that you weren't thinking straight. Maybe it was because you were desperately looking for a pillar of support, you didn't know. But before you could stop it, the words slipped past your lips—
“Please don't leave me. I can't lose you too, Dad.”
A moment of silence passed. Unbeknownst to you, a small smile spread over Daryl's face. He pulled you closer to him.
“Ya still got me. M'here and I ain't goin' nowhere, kid. Yer stuck with me.”
Merle Dixon wasn't always a good man. He wasn't always a good father either. But in the midst of a cruel world, before and after the dead started walking, Merle managed to give Daryl a sweet gift—you, his daughter. Because despite biological relations, you were now truly his.

Summary: Daryl Dixon x (daughter) reader. Daryl and the group are at the mercy of Negan and the saviors and meet someone they thought would never see again. (Y/n was left alone at Hershals farm while her father took carol) ( y/n hates Daryl, Carol, Beth, and Judith) ( y/n followed her father for years and when she finally caught up to him he was mourning Beth’s death and was filled with rage) ( y/n and Negan have a father-daughter relationship) ( y/n has a pet crow named Sebastian that kept her alive)
Note: This is not a series and never will be
Tumblr media
She had been following them for years after Hershel's farm desperate to get back to her family. She had gone through a lot of stuff met and ran into a lot of dangerous people and situations. She had been through a lot too much. At one point, she had given up and that’s when the Governor stepped in and took her she was with them for a few months not realizing that her family was literally right around the corner. When she did figure it out it was too late again. The Governor had sent her away for medicine when she came back everything was in ruins and everyone was gone or dead. She cried her eyes out when she found Hershel.
But it was also the push she needed to find her family again so she started looking again but it always seemed like she was always a step behind them every time she thought she had found or reached them she found a place in ruins or empty of all things. For years she chased them but she never caught them until she did.
(Y/n) had water but she didn’t have food and it was starting to affect her it had been a week since her last real meal. But Sebastian was doing fine eating the carcass of animals he could find. Lucky bastard bird. She made been moving none stop for the last couple of days and she was getting closer she could feel it.
Then she found him he was leaning up against a tree smoking and burning himself with the cigarette.
“Dad?”
He looked up as she called for him. The big grin that painted her face became smaller as she saw his face. He was crying he never cried and he never allowed her to cry either.  He looked shocked to see her at first then he was sad and angry.
“...Dad?”
“no...no”
“... it’s me. (Y/n) I’m alive and I’ve been looking for you for so long. Where are the others? I can’t wait to see them. I’ve missed -”
“Go away”
“what... but-”
“Go away I don’t want you, I don’t need you, You’re gone. And you’ve been gone for a very long time. There is no point in you being here anymore... Go away.
“But dad-” Suddenly Darly picks up a handful of dirt and throws it her way it hits her shirt. “ I... Okay”
She continued following them for a couple of days after that but she eventually just gave up on them altogether, as they had done so on her a long time ago, she just couldn’t watch it anymore.
Not too long after that, a man named Negan took her in.
Her eyes were closed and her head was tilted back but she could still feel Carl’s glare on her. It was strange they were best friends at the farm and at Atlanta now they weren’t. Times have changed.
“ I’m not waiting for your father anymore. I don’t know where the hell he is but I’m is my princess. Ain’t that right Sweetheart” Negan smiles at her she just scratches her head awkwardly. “ Carl pass the rolls...please”
Carl doesn’t listen instead continues to glare (Y/n). She sighed and pasted the rolls for him all while making eye contact with Carl. Negan filled everyone’s plates as the two teens glared at each other.
“You two seem to really like each other” he teased but became serious “ Bunny?”
“Remember that group that I told you about. The first one the one that left me behind when I was 11. This his Carl Grimes he was part of that group his father was the leader of that group.”
“Oh shit”
“We thought you were dead”
“I’m obviously not”
“The farm was overrun. Everyone ran away.”
“But you all managed to find each other.”
“Listen-” (Y/n) slammed her hand on the table startling Carl everyone but Negan and causing Judith to cry.
“Everyone spent two months looking for Sofia but you couldn’t spare a day or even an hour for me. Do you know all the shit I went through chasing after you fucks.”
“Language young lady” Negan scolds her sternly but she ignores him.
she sighed and chuckled a bit she picked up a roll and began to dig in “ It doesn’t matter anymore. I am where I am and I’m happy.”
“Don’t you want to know what happened to the others. ” Carl gave Negan a side glance and he returned a menacing glare. As if saying keep your mouth shut.
“Honestly no. Why care for people who didn’t care for me. Thank for the lemonade Ms. Oliva”
That wasn’t true (y/n) still cared for people in that group and she honestly missed Carl and Glenn and T- Dog they were her favorite people but she wasn’t going to say that out loud. She just didn’t want to hear what happen to them she didn’t know if they were dead or alive and she preferred it that way less disappointment less heartbreak. She didn’t need to or want to know the details of anything.
She wanted to stay in blissful ignorance. She wanted to pretend to be innocent she wanted to be just like the little toddler bouncing on Oliva’s lap next to her but she knew she couldn’t not anymore... All her innocence was long gone taken and she’d never get it back. Ever.
-
(Y/n) was inside washing the dishes. The others tried to do them but she insisted she does them by herself. To tell the truth she just wanted to play in the water and make bubbles like a child again. That’s probably why it took longer than it should have to do the dishes actually.
“You still have that thing” (y/n) looked up to see Carl in the kitchen he was looking at the counter where Sebastian was peaking at a roll.
“Of course”  she smiled flicking water at the bird who snapped at her “if it wasn’t for Sebastian I wouldn’t be here right now. This rat with wings saved my life on several occasions”
“mom hated it”
“Everyone hated Sebastion expect You, Sofia, T-dog, Glenn, and Dale. Everyone else thought he would make good food. What they didn’t realize was he was good at finding food” She picked up his roll and tossed it out the window getting him out the house.
“You know we actually waited for you. A day” Carl said “ I marked places with different initials from the group every time we stopped. I wanted you to find us but no one really wanted to stop and look. That big of a herd they thought you were dead. But I knew better.”
“Thank you for believing in me, I guess” She smiled she could never stay mad at Carl that were best friends practically sibling when they were together.
“ I met him before the Saviors were well the Saviors. These group of guys found me and they took me and they hurt me they..shit- I mean stuff- Stuff happened...Negan came and killed them and saved me. I stayed with him for a few months he offered me a place with his group I didn't take it because I was so busy looking for you guys. He gave me food, water, and a walkie talkie to stay in touch. I walked out of range then it died on me. A couple of years later I gave up and I found him again and we started back actually where we left off like I had never left.” She smiled sadly as she looked at carl he made a painful expression on his face.
“Negan took care of me when I had no one else. He has loved me and looked after me.”
“Are you two?” Carl began to make strange hand gestures but (y/n) picked up what he was trying to say.
“Oh god no. He’s more of a father figure to me. All the saviors call me daddy’s little girl to tease but... I actually like it.”
“What about Daryl ?”
“He never wanted me I was a mistake from a one night stand. The only reason he took me was so he wouldn’t have to pay for child support. Merel took better care of me than he did and that’s saying something”
“Does Negan know Daryl’s your dad? Do you know what happened to-“
“No, no. I don’t want to know what happened to Daryl. And he has never asked about my parents since I came back and I never told him my last name so I guess not. I’m done with Daryl.”
The two of them fell into a tense silence. Carl had something to say but he didn’t want to say it and (y/n) was praying that Carl wouldn’t say it. Because as for how she felt she had left that life behind and wanted nothing to do with it she was not part of it.
Suddenly Oliva came down passing them and going to the front porch they followed.. Negan was in the middle of the street playing pool with some guy named Spencer.
“I could never do this with Rick. He would just be standing there, scowling, giving me that annoying side-eye he gives me.”
“That’s actually what I came to see you about. I want to talk to you about Rick.”
“Hey Princess, you want to play” Negan called out to (y/n) but she shook her head and declined instead choosing to sit and watch on the rail. He eyed her for a moment making sure she was okay but accepted her decline “Alright, Talk to me, Spencer. Talk to me about Rick.”
“I get what you’re trying to do here, what you’re trying to build. I’m not saying I agree with your methods, but I get it. You’re building a network making people contribute for the greater good. It makes sense.” This was a very interesting conversation and it seems like (y/n) wasn’t the only one who thought so as other people started to file out of their homes to listen in and watch the men play pool but or so listen in But you should know that “Rick Grimes has a history of not working well with others.”
“mm. Is that so?” Negan passes a glance at (Y/n) as if asking her the question. From the little dinner conversation earlier he realized she knew a few people in the group. She shook her hand in a motion saying ‘eh’ maybe so maybe not.
”Rick wasn’t the original leader here my mom was. She was doing a really good job of it. Then she died, not long after Rick showed up the same with my brother, same with my dad.” She didn’t like where their conversation was heading and she knew Negan didn’t either but he was entertaining him giving him the benefit of the doubt.
“So everything is peachy here for what years? And then Rick shows up and suddenly you’re an orphan? That is the saddest story I’ve ever heard. Good thing for you he’s not in charge anymore.” He was giving this guy a chance to back up and save himself but he wasn’t taking it.
“Doesn’t matter. His ego is out of control. He’ll find a way to screw things up, to try and do things his way, to take over. That’s what he did with my mom. That’s what he'll do again.” (Y/n) pinched her nose. Spencer Monroe as dug his grave
“What exactly are you prosing be done about that?”
“ I am my mother’s son. I can be the leader she was. That’s what this place needs. That’s what you need.” and there he goes falling in it.
“So I should put you in charge. That’s what you’re saying”
“we’d be much better off” (y/n)curses softly Carl and Oliva look at her strange but she doesn’t say anything.
“You know, I’m thinking Spencer. I’m thinking how rick threatened to kill me, how he clearly hates my guts. But he is out there right now, gathering shit for me to make sure I don’t hurt any of the fine people that live here. He is swallowing his hate and getting shit done. That takes guts. “ he plays a hole then sends a wink at (y/n) she rolls her eyes “And then there’s you... the guy who waited for Rick to be gone so he could sneak over and talk to me to get me to do his dirty work so he could take Rick’s place. So I got to ask. If you want to take over why not just kill Rick yourself and just take over?” And Now Spencer realizes that someone is throwing dirt on his face trying to bury him alive. The asshole should have just minded his own business and lived.
“What? no, no. I didn’t- I don’t-”
“Oh god” (y/n) whispers to herself as she turns her back from the scene that she knows is about to play out. She doesn’t want to see this. She doesn’t like seeing him like this.
“You know what I’m thinking cause I have a guess. It’s because you got no guts.” (Y/n) hears the unsheathing of his knife and Oliva’s gasping. She doesn't need to see or hear to know what happened so she covers her ears and clothes her eyes... She can still hear him talking though.
“Ohh. How embarrassing. There they are. They were inside you the whole time. You did have guts. I’ve never been so wrong in my whole life.” She opens her eyes a bit to see Carl and Oliva shocked at whatever they see in front of them but she is not tempted to turn around.
“Someone ought to get out there and clean this mess up. Oh. Anyone want to finish the game? C’mon. Anybody? Anybody? C’mon. I was winning.”
Then a gunshot.
“SHIT!”
Suddenly (Y/n) is jumping off the porch and racing to Negan “ DADDY”
”what the shit?! shit! you just- you tried to kill me?! In front of my LITTLE GIRL. YOU SHOT LUCILLE.” Negan waved his bat as he pulled a shaking (y/n) into his chest
“she got in the way.”
Taking a few deep breaths Negan kisses (y/n) forehead and pushes her towards the house. Carl pulls her back up on to the porch he gives the boy an appreciative nod. He picks up the bullet shell.
“What is this? What is this? This little bad boy made from scratch? Look at those crimps. This was homemade. You may be stupid, darlin’,  but you showed some real ingenuity here. Arat, move that knife up out on that girl’s face. Lucille’s beautiful, smooth surface is never gonna look the same, so why should yours? Unless you tell me who made this”
It was me I made it”
“ You see, I just think you’re lying. And you lying to me now?! such a shame. Arat’s gonna have to cut up that pretty face... One more try”
“It was me”
‘Oh, you are such a badass! Fine. Carl, take her into the house. Arat... kill somebody”
Suddenly there is a one-shot and a body fall on the porch. (Y/n) and Carl turns around to see Oliva dead on the floor she gasps. Carl pushes her in the house and rushes to Oliva’s side but she is already dead.
Inside the house (Y/n) slides down against the wall next to the front door and covers her ears burying her head between her legs. She takes a few deep breathes trying to calm the panic that seems to be crawling up her throat. (Y/n) jumps as the door swings open she relaxes when she realizes it’s Negan. He throws a hand over her shoulder as he walks her outside.
“Rick, you should thank this little one right here. Your kitchen was a god damn mess and I was going to leave it like that but she cleaned it up. My little angel sure did.”
“(Y/n)?!” Rick looks completely shocked and horrified as he sees her. The little girl who used to beg for his hat and badge.
“ You two know each other don’t ya. well, I’m sorry to cut this reunion short but we got to go. I’ll see you next time”
Negan walks away with an arm over (y/n)’s shoulder and Lucille on his other and Sebastian on the tip of Lucille. As he looks back at Rick he kisses her forehead.
“This was a very interesting day, wasn’t Bunny honey”
“yes”.
-
Rick hugs Daryl as they make their way into Hilltop. But as he hugs him he whispers something into his ear “ (Y/n)’s alive” he pulls away “ Negan. She’s with Negan”. Daryl doesn’t know what to say or do his heart pains at the thought of his daughter”
“Don’t worry we’ll get her back”
“If she wants to come back,” Carl says but no one hears him.

October/November TBR List
Have I finished the Infernal Devices series yet? Nope. Will I still be posting this TBR? Yup. I know this list is coming in the middle of the month but I’m only reading Clockwork Prince on the weekends and want books for during the week! This will probably be the last TBR I post for awhile!
Tumblr media
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
After the 1st wave, only darkness remains.
After the 2nd, only the lucky escape.
And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive.
After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.
Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother–or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Now, ten years later, Sebastian has lived with the guilt and horror for his entire life. With his best friend away for the summer, Sebastian has only a new friend—Aneesa—to distract him from his darkest thoughts. But even this relationship cannot blunt the pain of his past. Because Sebastian knows exactly how to rectify his childhood crime and sanctify his past.
It took a gun to get him into this.
Now he needs a gun to get out.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Tumblr media
Sixteen-year-old Cinder is considered a technological mistake by most of society and a burden by her stepmother. Being cyborg does have its benefits, though: Cinder’s brain interference has given her an uncanny ability to fix things (robots, hovers, her own malfunctioning parts), making her the best mechanic in New Beijing. This reputation brings Prince Kai himself to her weekly market booth, needing her to repair a broken android before the annual ball. He jokingly calls it “a matter of national security,” but Cinder suspects it’s more serious than he’s letting on.
Although eager to impress the prince, Cinder’s intentions are derailed when her younger stepsister, and only human friend, is infected with the fatal plague that’s been devastating Earth for a decade. Blaming Cinder for her daughter’s illness, Cinder’s stepmother volunteers her body for plague research, an “honor” that no one has survived.
But it doesn’t take long for the scientists to discover something unusual about their new guinea pig. Something others would kill for.
Reckless by Cornelia Funke
Tumblr media
Ever since Jacob Reckless was a child, he has been escaping to a hidden world through a portal in his father’s abandoned study. Over the years, he has made a name for himself as a finder of enchanted items and buried secrets. He’s also made many enemies and allies–most important, Fox, a beautiful shape-shifting vixen whom Jacob cares for more than he lets on.
But life in this other world is about to change. Tragedy strikes when Jacob’s younger brother, Will, follows him through the portal. Brutally attacked, Will is infected with a curse that is quickly transforming him into a Goyl–a ruthless killing machine, with skin made of stone.
Jacob is prepared to fight to save his brother, but in a land built on trickery and lies, Jacob will need all the wit, courage, and reckless spirit he can summon to reverse the dark spell–before it’s too late.
A World Without You by Beth Revis
Seventeen-year-old Bo has always had delusions that he can travel through time. When he was ten, Bo claimed to have witnessed the Titanic hit an iceberg, and at fifteen, he found himself on a Civil War battlefield, horrified by the bodies surrounding him. So when his concerned parents send him to a school for troubled youth, Bo assumes he knows the truth: that he’s actually attending Berkshire Academy, a school for kids who, like Bo, have “superpowers.”
At Berkshire, Bo falls in love with Sofia, a quiet girl with a tragic past and the superpower of invisibility. Sofia helps Bo open up in a way he never has before. In turn, Bo provides comfort to Sofia, who lost her mother and two sisters at a very young age.
But even the strength of their love isn’t enough to help Sofia escape her deep depression. After she commits suicide, Bo is convinced that she’s not actually dead. He believes that she’s stuck somewhere in time — that he somehow left her in the past, and now it’s his job to save her.
In her first contemporary novel, Beth Revis guides readers through the mind of a young man struggling to process his grief as he fights his way through his delusions. As Bo becomes more and more determined to save Sofia, he has to decide whether to face his demons head-on, or succumb to a psychosis that will let him be with the girl he loves.

Appearance Description
Julie has long red hair, with some of it going over her shoulders, and covering one side of her face (its inconsistent, as it depends on the side she is facing, like if she is facing left, the right side of her face is covered and vice versa, and it can be on either side if she's facing front). She also has a bit of hair covering the part in between her ear and face. It is also is usually very neat, and flows slightly.
Her skin is a pale peach colour (she is a white person, and just has pale skin, relating to her red hair), and she has a small button nose with a rounded shape. Julie has round, slightly oval-shaped eyes, that are blue, with eyelashes lining the top (she has the same eyes as Beth). Her body shape is an hourglass figure, meaning she has large breasts, a thin waist and wide hips. She is also a bit curvy, her figure can be described as very womanly and mature.
Julie wears a purple strapped dress that appears to have a white short-sleeved shirt underneath it. She also wears a pair of dark purple flats.
Personality
Julie has a kind and gentle heart. She loves helping others and is nice to everyone. She is warm, friendly and is optimistic and positive. Even when things look bleak, she tries to be uplifting and to look on the bright side of things. She is soft, gentle and very sweet to other people. Julie also believes that there is good in everyone, and doesn't believe even the worst don't have any good in them. So she does her best to find this in others. Julie cares for other people deeply and always wants to help them.
Her kindness is her biggest strength, but also her greatest weakness. The problem is that Julie is too kind. She can't stand up for herself or others because she doesn't want to hurt anyone, not realizing that that can hurt people too. Julie can be also be too trusting of others, which can put her in danger.
Julie is very shy, and tends to be timid and nervous at times. She can also be a bit awkward as well and gets easily embarrassed at times. She isn't good with crowds and doesn't like doing things like public speaking. That's not to say she doesn't like spending time with others, because she does. Julie just gets nervous when it comes to new people or a group of people.
Julie is also an intelligent character in her own right. She loves reading books, particularly romance novels, and is very good with things like math, science and English. These skills allowed her to excel in nursing school. She is also fairly logical and resourceful too, and good at memorizing and remembering things. However, due to the fact Julie becomes foolish when it comes to love, her intelligence is often underestimated and even questioned. She is very curious about the world around her, and loves learning new things.
Julie is a hopeless romantic, having wanted love since she was a little girl. She loves romance novels and movies as well. Love makes her act foolish, and sometimes she may make bad decisions, but she never means to.
Underneath this, Julie has poor self-confidence issues. She doesn't think highly of herself at times, and blames her previous romantic failures on herself. While everyone seems to find her beautiful, Julie only thinks she is average looking. She is passive and tends to go along with things, even if she doesn't want to. Her desire not to upset people prevents her from standing up for herself and being assertive and brave.
Due to Rick's influence, as time passed, Julie slowly grew more brave and confident. She became more assertive and sure of herself. Slowly but surely, she became less timid and shy because of him. But sometimes her old insecurities would still rise to the surface.
After Rick leaves, everything goes down the gutter. Julie became more withdrawn, quiet and asocial as a result. She also developed depression.
History
Early Life
Julie was born on May 16th, 1951 to her parents Gordon and Agnes Kenyon. When she was merely two years old, her then pregnant mother suffered an accident that not only caused her to miscarry, but become infertile as well. It was a devastating loss, but she and Gordon pulled through, and kept a protective eye on Julie from then on, something that would've been seen as strange for the time.
As a baby, Julie also met Vivian, due to their mothers being best friends themselves, and they had been friends ever since.
She was a happy child, who loved to read books and play with her dolls, all of whom she treated like her actual children, showing her desire to be a mother one day. Every night, her mother would read to her, which helped foster her love of reading. Julie also learned to cook from a young age, being taught how to be her mother, and would try and help her out.
Things weren't all pleasant though. She was bullied as a child due to her red hair and pale skin, which made her stand out easily among the other children. Some nicknames she was called were things like “loser”, “weak”, “a baby” and “a crybaby”. There was also an incident were Julie, who had a crush on a boy at her school, gathered up the courage to confess to him, but he acted all grossed out, called her ugly and then laughed at her, causing her to run off in tears. Despite her parents assurance that she was beautiful, and being defended by Vivian, the bullying was too much for her, and it gave her pretty bad self-confidence, self-esteem and self-image issues.
In her teenage years, the bullying continued, but things weren't so bad. She met Mark through Vivian, and he ended up living with Julie and her parents, causing them to end up with a brother-sister relationship.
Later, after graduating from high school, Julie attended university alongside Vivian, where she took up nursing, having a desire to help people. It was here where she dated her first boyfriend, someone Vivian knew, but broke it off as he was too stuck up for her liking. She graduated in 1975, having obtained her nursing degree, and moved in to a new house her parents bought her to celebrate. Unfortunately, the first time they came to visit, they were killed in a fatal car accident. Julie was devastated, and became very depressed and lonely, no longer being the same person. She attempted to date again, dating a guy Mark met, but this one didn't work out either, as the guy thought she was pathetic and didn't care for her interests.
Despite this, Julie clung onto the hope of finding true love, remaining optimistic and hopeful.
Meeting Rick
In June 1978, Julie was leaving Mark's house, when a portal suddenly appeared, and Rick rammed right into her. Even though he acted rude to her, she treated him with kindness and let him stay with her until his wound healed, due to him refusing to go to a hospital. It didn't take long for Rick to warm up to Julie, and they started to bond and grow close. She was even embarrassed when Mark hinted that she likes him romantically, early on in their friendship.
After a fight with Cyn, Julie discovers aliens are real and that Rick created a portal gun that allows him to traverse the universe and beyond. The next day, he took her to two different planets, where they continued to bond, and Rick gave her a crystal rose. Rick and Cyn fought a second time, which caused Julie to discover that Rick is a dangerous criminal, but she accepted him regardless. The two then went to Glorf together to hide from the fyralogins, where their friendship truly began to blossom into love.
Rick and Julie bonded, growing closer and understanding each other more, and they both realized they were falling in love with each other, but never said anything about it. After getting homesick, Rick allowed Julie to return to Earth to see her friends, which she did, but returned in tears due to a fight with Vivian. He comforted her on it, and ended up kissing her. She admits the next day that it was the best kiss she'd ever had.
That day, Rick learns more about Julie's past, before she's kidnapped by the fyralogins, who demand that Rick agree to be tortured and killed so Julie can be set free. She begs him not to, but he agrees and they confess their feelings for each other before she's dragged back to Earth. While there, she can't stop worrying about him, and feels depressed and lonely. Rick soon returns and they end up becoming a couple before making love together.
Julie is still worried about the torture Rick faced, and says there's no need to hide things from her. He points out that she's never told him about her family, causing her to admit her hypocrisy and he ends up learning about what happened to her parents. In an attempt to make her feel better, Rick takes her to Blips and Chitz, where they spend their first date.
Cyn returns later on, resulting in a final confrontation between him and Rick. After Cyn shoots Rick, Julie defends him and in retaliation, Cyn knocks her unconscious. Thinking she died, Rick kills him right back, and becomes happy to discover Julie was still alive. They talk later on, and she comforts him, saying that nothing would ever make her stop loving him.
After this, Rick and Julie begin their travels in the galaxy together. This halted a bit when Julie finally worked up the courage to apply for a nursing career, but still continued anyways. She and Rick married on April 14th, 1979.
Later Years
Julie gave birth to her and Rick's daughter Beth, sometime in 1980. She was a loving and supportive mother, and never seemed to mind Beth's odd behaviours. Despite Beth's rudeness towards her mother, Julie was never harsh or angry with her, and gave her nothing but love and kindness, even though she never got any in return. She was also unaware of the existence of “Froopyland”, and ended up taking Beth to therapy, never truly knowing what happened to her, but thinking it was the “death” of her friend Tommy.
In 1994, Rick disappeared to fight in the war against the Galactic Federation. A depressed Julie missed him everyday, knowing that he would return someday, and thinking about him all the time. His disappearance depressed her so much, that Mark even gave her antidepressants to help her.
Later, in 1997, Beth became pregnant after having sex on prom night with a boy at her school named Jerry. Despite her disappointment in her, Julie continued to help and support her, even looking after Summer once she was born.
The drastic change in her mental health began to affect her physically, and her health deteriorated until she had to be hospitalized.
Death and Legacy
Julie passed away from heart issues on March 9th 1998. In her final moments, she was surrounded with her friends and family, and was able to die peacefully, with Rick being the last thing on her mind before she passed.
Her funeral was held a week later, and was attended by not just her family and friends on Earth, but also the friends she'd made during her and Rick's adventures, the same ones who were at their wedding.
She is still remembered fondly by those who knew her. Rick, who didn't find out she died until returning to Earth, has had trouble accepting her death, and it led him down a dark path into alcoholism, suicidal depression and abusive behaviours. Even after all this time, he still loves her and misses her dearly, deeply regretting leaving and wishing he'd just stayed behind instead, protecting her and Beth on Earth.
As for Beth herself, she blames Julie for Rick leaving, and thus holds animosity towards her, but as Julie is her mother, Beth still loves her and misses her.
In the short time Jerry knew Julie, he thought of her as a good and kind person, thinking she could be a great role model for Summer. He was deeply upset too when he heard that she died, and attended her funeral.
Across the rest of the galaxy, there are still those who met Julie, and remember her fondly. Some think of her as just the wife of Rick Sanchez, but others think of her for her love and kindness that she showed everyone, and what a truly great person she was.

Relationships
Rick Sanchez
Rick and Julie share a very close and intimate relationship. The bond they share is strong and unbreakable.
These two bring out the best in each other, and Rick believes that Julie is the only person who truly understands him. So he tends to be possessive of Julie, and worries someone will try to take her from him. He isn’t controlling, and doesn’t care about Julie having male friends, but he makes it clear Julie is his and his only. They know each other better than anyone. Rick has made Julie more confident in herself, and Julie has made Rick softer/gentler/kinder and more calm and easygoing.
Julie and Rick also help each other with their problems, and in a natural way as well. They don't force each other to change, they let things happen slowly. Julie makes sure Rick takes care of himself properly and makes him brush his teeth, or makes sure he sleeps long enough or is eating enough as well. Rick in turn helps Julie grow more confident in herself and become more assertive and stronger.
When Rick left in 1994, Julie still loved him and missed him deeply. She waited for him until her death. On her deathbed, she proclaimed her love for him. Even now after her death, Rick still secretly is in love with her and misses her all the time.
Tropes
Opposites Attract-Julie is kind, loving and pure. Rick is an asshole who hates others and has seen too much. Despite their differences, they’re meant for each other.
All Girls Want Bad Boys-Rick is not a nice guy, far from it, and is a criminal. Julie loves him anyways
Love Redeems-Julie’s kindness has managed to soften Rick’s cold and hard heart.
Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl-Rick is pretty brooding, Julie is gentle. She gives him space and allows his growth to be natural and slow
Inconvenient Attraction-Rick is annoyed by his own feelings.
Operation:Jealousy-Rick can’t help but be jealous, even when they weren’t together
You Are Worth Hell-Rick will go through all odds just for Julie’s sake
Flowers of Romance-Rick gives Julie a crystal rose, which is a symbol for their love.
Beth Smith
Julie was always a loving, caring mother figure to her daughter, and only child, Beth.
Julie knew she wanted to be a mother for the longest time. But she decided to wait until she was married, which she did in 1979. A year after in 1980, she became pregnant and gave birth to her and Rick’s daughter Beth at age 29.
Because of the laws at the time, Julie was only able to take 6 weeks off from work, but she made those 6 weeks count. Julie looked after Beth the best she could, and even taught Rick how to properly look after their baby. As Beth grew older, Julie always remained a kind and loving mother. She helped her daughter with her dreams, and was always supportive and understanding. However, Beth didn’t appreciate her, she saw Julie as mundane, boring and unremarkable compared to Rick. This broke Julie’s heart, and despite her attempts to bond with Beth, it never worked.
After Rick left, Beth blamed it on Julie, saying her mother’s “boringness’ caused Rick to leave her. She fought with her mom, hated her and blamed her for all her problems. When Julie died, Beth was sad and did mourn her, but still held resentment towards her. Because Jerry was also similar to Julie, this furthered her dislike for Jerry. She never truly appreciated her.
Jerry Smith
Julie was upset that Jerry had gotten Beth pregnant, but never harboured any resentment towards him. She wanted Beth to be happy, and hoped she and Jerry would have a good life together. Jerry had been a bit weary of Julie at first because he was scared of her possible reaction, but was relieved to see she was kind and gentle.
He was happy to have her as his mother-in-law, and thought she would be a good role model for Summer. After her death, Jerry was saddened, and tried to comfort Beth as much as he could.
Summer Smith
Summer doesn't remember her grandmother, as Julie died when she was still a baby. But in the short time they knew each other, Julie adored her granddaughter and would help Beth take care of her at times.
Vivian Curtis
Vivian and Julie have known each since they were babies, with their mothers even being best friends for years. They have always been close with each other, and have always been supportive of the other as well.
Vivian has always tended to be a bit critical of Julie, usually regarding her choices and boyfriends. She was particularly unhappy with Rick and Julie’s relationship, thinking of Rick as nothing more than a dangerous criminal. But eventually, she got over it as always.
Mark Norris
Julie was introduced to Mark when they were teenagers. She and him instantly became friends from then on. After Mark was rescued, he began living with Julie and her parents. It was from there that they developed a brother-sister relationship that remains strong.
Mark is the most supportive towards Julie of all her friends. He gets angry when someone demeans her, and always jumps her defence. She goes to him for advice, and he always tries to help as best he can.
Tropes
Like Brother and Sister-Mark and Julie are very close. They love each other, but not in the romantic sense. They love each other as the siblings they never had instead.
Platonic Life Partners-They are best friends. It's better that way.
Interests/Hobbies
Julie loves reading, it's her favourite pastime and she's been reading since she was able to. Her room has a shelf filled with books, and she has a few more books in her living room. Her favourite genre is romance, but she also likes adventure, sci-fi and fantasy stories. She likes classic romance novels such as Pride and Prejudice and A Room With A View, but also more modern love stories(for the 70s..) and likes reading books that have hot muscular guys on the cover.
Julie strangely also has a fondness for video games. Since she first played Pong back when it was released into arcades, she thought it was the coolest thing ever and has been hooked since. She owns an Atari 2600 console and has a Pong console too.
She also likes space, and loves looking up at the stars. Living more in the city outskirts, Julie gets a better view of the stars. Her love for it stemmed back into her childhood, when she would sit on a blanket at night and watch the stars with her parents.  She loves learning new things from Rick, and learning in general, and their adventures together. She is fascinated by the things they come across, like a crystal/gemstone planet or a planet with two moons. She has a big curiosity for the multiverse after all.
Being a nurse, Julie also has an interest in biology and medical stuff. She has no aversion to things like blood or needles/syringes either, and is excellent at properly looking after people, including herself. She keeps a first-aid kit in her home.
Julie is also a girly girl and so she likes dressing in pretty, feminine outfits. She also loves shopping, especially for clothes. Despite being very feminine and girly, she still doesn't mind getting dirty, and loves adventures and exploring..
She also loves to cook and bake food. She learned from her mother how to at a young age, and has loved it ever since.

Name Meanings and Origins
Julie/Juliana
Both Julie and Juliana are English names meaning “descendant of Jupiter”. Jupiter was the leader of the Roman gods, and the god of sky and lightning. Julie is the French form of Julia, but has been used in the English-speaking world since the 20th century. Juliana is the feminine form of Julius(Iulianus).
Julie and Juliana both have origins in Ancient Rome, when it was “Iulia” (the letter j didn't exist yet). It has been used in England since the 18th century alongside its other form Gillian.
Juliana was the name of a saint and martyr from 14th century Nicomedia, Blessed Juliana of Norwich. She was also a mystic and author. Juliana was also the name of a 20th century queen from the Netherlands.
Lillian
English name meaning “lilly”.
This name has two possible origins. Either as a diminutive of Elizabeth, or an elaborated form of Lilly. It has been in use in England since the 1500s.
Kenyon
Irish surname meaning “little wolf”.
Quotes
(Love and Loneliness)
“Yea..we..we both don’t have many people in our lives, and I really like the idea of having a new friend..I mean..um...if you’re okay with it.”
“It’s...it’s not like that! I mean...he’s kinda attractive...a little...”
“Leave him alone...please don’t hurt him anymore..”
“I don’t hate you Rick, not at all. We’re still friends, and I care about you so much.”
“By the way, I stored our food in the fridge for you. Also, when I was heading off to sleep, I found they only have one bed, I guess the people here really do think we're together..”
“Rick, I worry about you because I care about you, we’re friends, and I..we’ve become close, you know you can tell me whenever something’s bothering you, or...just anything really. I...I want to be there for you..”
“Um...I’m...I’m really sorry for everything you had to suffer through in your life, nobody deserves that. If you ever want to talk more about it with me, or anything else...I’m all ears..”
“I can tell you’re upset because you don’t feel you’re as good as cooking as me. But don’t worry, I appreciate you helping me, I really do, it’s...nice...having you here with me.”
“I don't care what you think! I love him and I care for him more than anything! I’m going to keep staying around him and being there for him when he needs me! And there’s nothing you can do about it!”
“You think I'm...beautiful?”
“Please! Please don’t do this Rick! I..I love you...I don’t want you to die...please..”
“That’s not true..I love you, and I only want to be with you. Please don’t do this, I’m not worth it.”
“It’s simple really, you’re a brave, assertive, confident, strong, charming and funny guy, you treat me so well, you’re very kind and sweet with me. I love going on adventures with you. You bring out the best in me, I feel so...happy...when we’re together, and you care about the things I like. I’ve realized that I need you to be happy...and that I can’t live without you either…”
“Aw don’t be such a sore loser, Mr. Grumpypants!”
“Rick isn't the monster here Cyn, its you!”
“If he really was a monster, he wouldn't love me. But he does, and I love him too.”
“You’re not as bad as you think you are. You’re always there for me when I’m upset, you protect me and look out for me, and need I remind you of when you nearly sacrificed your life for me?”
“I will never stop loving you, no matter what.”
“I know, and it's very sweet of you, but at the most, I've only been pregnant for a few weeks. You only need to be worried when my belly gets bigger.”
“Rick...I can't sacrifice our family's well being just because I'm afraid you'll leave again. Please, don't go.”
“Before I met your father, I was lonely, and longing for love and happiness. He gave me that and more, I grew more brave and assertive, he showed me the galaxy, I married him and we had you. He’s still my soulmate, my true love, I’ll never see him again, unless there’s an afterlife..but that’s okay..I have no regrets, I lived my life to the fullest, and I can die peacefully.”
(Getaway)
“I don't mind, I think it'll really wake the both of us up, get the blood rushing early on hmm?”
“That's very sweet of you...and to be honest, I think you’re, in turn, the most handsome man in the multiverse..”
“No, that is if you two want to come along. There's a couples discount there, so we think you and Mark should pretend to be a couple.”
“Your eyes..I guess I got lost in them again.”
“I guess I realized it...you know...when I saw how different he was from my exes, because he brought out feelings in me I had never felt with them, I saw that after you pointed it out. I ended up thinking about the fact I was falling in love with Rick, and everything I liked about him, all the times we spent together, how he brought out the best in me and made me happier than anyone else, that's how I knew he was the one for me.”
“Like I said before, Rick brings out the best in me, when I'm with him, I feel stronger, happier, more confident and brave. I notice that I bring out the best in him too, when it's just the two of us alone, he acts very sweet and kind, he showers me with affection and appears more relaxed and calm. I also remember the first time he kissed me, I felt a spark, a connection...it was the best kiss I had ever had, I knew it had to mean something. I love our adventures together and learning from him, nobody else on Earth could give me that. Another thing too, my love isn't shallow. Sure I think he’s very attractive and admire his talents, but there's more to it than that. I love him because he's brave, strong, confident, assertive, intelligent, funny and he is very sweet and kind to me. I know he seems really mean and cruel, but he has a good heart deep down, and is selfless too. He proved that..well..”
“Well, your feelings are shallow when they're only based on superficial traits, like appearance or wealth. But love is real and true when it's more than that, you love them for who they are, like their personality, if you love them selflessly, love them more than anything and they mean the world to you, I guess.”
“Rick feels that way because he’s...he’s suffered so much in his past, he doesn't think he deserves my love, that I deserve better than him..it's awful..but I try my best to help him.”
“Rick needs me and I need him, I love him more than anything. He has his problems yes, but I can deal with them. I give him the support and understanding he needs, and he always treats me well.”
“I don’t care! My love for him is stronger than how much I care about my reputation!”
“I love you more than anything, you mean so much to me..I know sometimes you feel insecure and depressed, but just know I'll always be here for you whenever you need me. No matter what happens, I'll be with you. Don't ever forget that.”
“If it makes you feel any better….I just wanted to say that every moment I'm with you, it feels like a dream, or like I'm in heaven, or like I'm in a fairy tale. I've finally found the love I've dreamed of since I was little, with you. Nobody makes me feel as warm and happy as you do.”
“Does this mean...a shopping trip when we get back home?”
“I understand why you feel that way Viv, but you see, you don’t know Rick as well as I do. Underneath that mean, callous, arrogant exterior is someone with a kind, loving, gentle heart. He really does love me and care about me, and he treats me so well, he tries to become a better person so he’ll feel like he’s good enough for me. Even though being with him has put me in a lot of danger, I don’t care, I love him more than my own life. I love him and I love being with him, and I think you can tell how much happier, assertive and more confident I’ve become because of Rick.”

Rick’s Texas Chick Chapter 3
This was originally posted on AO3:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/15183545/chapters/35213036#workskin
Later that night when she joined them for dinner, Beth casually mentioned that her father had left town on business – at this the two teens had snickered but nothing else was said.  If she was disappointed at Rick’s unexpected absence, she hid it well.  She good naturedly answered all their questions about her previous life in Texas.  Her career, why she’d moved.  At least, she’d given them the answers she was willing to give, up to that point, considering that she’d barely known these people for barely 24 fucking hours.  It was the truth, just…a version of the truth---as her ex would like to say, when it was to his advantage to give the truth ‘versions.’
Truth was, she’d repeatedly opened herself up to mistreatment and abuse by total assholes.  Too trusting, too willing to believe their lies, desperately hoping that the umpteenth time would be the charm.  Instead it was always another charmer, a man willing to lie and scam his way into her heart before swiftly dumping her for greener pastures.  Leaving her to lick her wounds and try again.
This last time had been the final straw.  It almost wrecked her career.  At least, it had made it so she felt like she had to leave, which basically accomplished the same thing.  So, here she was, starting over not only personally but professionally, and almost 2400 miles away from home, to boot.
Fuck, any further west and she’d have ended up out in the middle of the goddam Pacific Ocean.
She’d picked this area because an old friend had semi-retired and moved out here several years earlier.  A psychotherapist, Ana knew he4 personal struggles with relationships.  Ana had always been like a sister to her.  She felt closer to Ana than to her own sisters—each of whom were much older than she, and fully engrossed in their lives and marriages, with grown children and grandchildren.
So, when her elderly parents died, months apart, it precipitated a spectacular emotional meltdown, resulting in the subsequent break-up of her own long-failed marriage, almost ruining her career in the process.  Well, after that, staying around for any more of a shit show had just seemed pointless.  She’d taken some time off and came up to visit Ana.
The beauty of the area had always enchanted her; and the possibility of starting all over here, where she would at least know one person, held huge appeal for her.  She’d researched jobs in the area and found a few worth applying to, one faculty position and a couple at private practices.  She emailed them an updated CV, including a list of professional references----close friends from work and professional organizations back home who knew and understood her situation, and in whom she knew they could be trusted to give a stellar referral to any prospective employer.
No embarrassing tales starring her as the jilted spouse, her angry confrontation with her husband in his office at the hospital, and how their combined screaming and yelling had brought the hospital security on the run.  In the end, she’d taken an extended leave, then ultimately did leave.  So, when it was time to apply for other positions, her work friends were willing to do anything to help her in her efforts to get away and move on with her life.
For this last relationship, her failed marriage, had surely been the worst.  Riddled with more punishing emotional abuse than any of her previous relationships, not to mention the infidelity.  But the physical abuse he’d begun to heap on towards the end, trying to break her…she’d barely had the courage to weather through it.
Then, when her parents had passed away, well, that had just about done her in.  The fact that so much had taken place at her work, in front of everyone: her boss, her colleagues, the staff.  And him cheating on her with staff nurses who worked in the ER at the same damn hospital----it was the classic betrayal.
She shared none of this with her new neighbors that first night at dinner, of course.  Only relating that she’d had a career opportunity at the Medical Center, another faculty position, and it was too much of a good chance to relocate to an area where she’d always wanted to live.  No mention of Ana, though why, she wasn’t sure.
She was happy to talk about her cats, of course----rather pointless, not to.  And was sincerely pleased when Beth had shared that she was a vet, albeit a large animal one and specialized in horses.
Morty asked her if she’d had horses, and she’d smiled kindly at him and told him no.  That, in fact, very few people in Texas owned a horse, unless they lived on a ranch or participated in amateur horse shows and rodeos.  It probably wasn’t all that much different from around here.
She’d had to stop herself from committing her classic blunder of overstepping the initial overtures of friendship and completely baring her soul and opening up her life and home to them like it was a Holiday Inn to come visit whenever they wanted.  Just because this family, and their missing elderly patriarch, were nice on the surface didn’t necessarily mean all was totally as it seemed.  She needed to remain cautiously at a distance until she’d become more settled in and had gotten to know them better.
She had no idea that Beth had sized her up while listening to her, and had understood that there was far more to her story than what she was letting on.  Thoughtfully taking in the dark circles of fatigue underneath her eyes and the lines etched in her face, Beth realized that there was more going on with her than someone who had just executed a 2400 mile car journey alone with 4 cats.  Despite her easy manner with Summer and Morty, ready smile, and friendly Texas drawl, there was a deep-seated pain in those eyes.
Beth wondered what her father would make of this woman, whenever he decided to return.
********
The weeks quickly passed.  Her furniture arrived a few days after she did, and she had taken a few weeks to get moved in and settled before she began working at her new job.  It usually took several months for new credentialing at a hospital to go through, so she used that to her advantage to stay home and tackle some projects around the house.
After that the days seemed to fly by.  Ana came around a few times, but for some reason, after her first few weeks there, Ana had gradually slipped back out of her life, just as if they were living 2400 miles apart again.  So, that small hope of friendship and support had not bloomed as she’d hoped it would, when she’d first made plans to move out there.
She had always found change difficult, and was slightly abashed with herself for making such a spectacular one during such a vulnerable time in her life.  But this part of the world was so beautiful, and the climate so much more pleasant than the heat and humidity of Houston.  She found herself wondering why she hadn’t moved to the region years earlier.
Oh well, she reminded herself not for the first time:  Things happen for a reason.
Like, your abusive husband cheating on you and forcing you to leave the job you loved.
Or, your beloved parents dying so close together.
She quickly shook this sad train of thoughts from her mind and thought instead about the Smith family.  Rick had recently returned after another week’s absence, looking much the worse for wear.  He’d completely ignored her, kept to himself in his garage, and she was too preoccupied with getting on with her new life to think much about it.
Ana hadn’t liked him the few times she’d come over to visit, and wasn’t shy about it.
“I don’t know...  I don’t like that guy, something about how he sits in that garage all day and is always looking over here.  He’s watching you.  It’s creepy.  Be careful.”
But she scoffed at Ana’s concern – hell, half the time he wasn’t even home.
And besides, after his abrupt departure from her house that first night, and the manner of their next encounter, she’d thought it best not to attempt any further efforts at friendship, anyway…
…It had been about a week since she first arrived.  Rick, Beth, and Summer had been in the kitchen one morning before school, he’d just returned the day before from his unannounced trip.
“So, how’s life li-urp-living across the street from the crazy cat lady these days?”
“Grandpa Rick!  Don’t talk about her like that.  We like her.  She’s a nice person.”
Beth sighed.  “Summer, go get ready for school.”  She waited for her daughter to leave the room before continuing.  “All I’m going to say, Dad, is that I think she’s had a pretty rough go of it.  That’s why she left Texas.  So, be nice to her, ok?  You know: try not to be yourself for a change.”  Beth turned to stack dirty breakfast dishes in the dishwasher.
Rick grumbled in reply.  “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“And, she’s not as young as she looks,” Beth continued, ignoring him and gesturing with a dirty spatula.  “I think she’s even older than I am.  She was a nurse for a long time, then went back to school to become an NP….”
He rolled his eyes; like he cared.  And went out through the open side door leading off the kitchen and into the garage, only to come face to face with her, the stricken look on her face telling him she’d overheard everything.
He’d had the grace to look guilty.
The expression on her face changed from one of pain and embarrassment to anger.  She was holding a pan containing what looked like a large coffee cake of some kind, a pair of pot holders protecting her hands.  She tossed the pan onto his work bench.  It landed with a clatter, sliding along the surface and knocking tools onto the floor.
“Baked this for y’all.  An old family recipe.”  She turned to leave, then stopped and turned back around.
“And I’m 49.  Next time y'all want to know something about me, just ask me.  I hate gossip.”  She marched across the street without a backward look.

Stargirl Season Finale Ending Explained and Unanswered Questions
https://ift.tt/2ZMmxp2
This article contains Stargirl spoilers.
Stargirl has been one of the few good things about 2020. Smart, impressively crafted, and full of heart, the newest addition to The CW superhero roster has been bringing us some much needed joy. Sadly, the season has ended, but it finished on a high note with an action-packed and emotional episode that tied up some loose ends, had a few shocking surprises, and opened up a lot of potential for the already announced second season that will air exclusively on The CW. Check out our review for a full rundown of the awesome episode, but we’re here to breakdown that wild ending, all those stingers, and answer some of the most burning questions that “Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E. Part Two” left us with.
The Justice Society of America Rises Again
It’s hard to end a debut season that’s been as stunning as Stargirl but somehow the creative team did it. There were a whole bunch of amazing moments in this episode but let’s focus on that third act that really began when the kids got into the tunnels underneath Blue Valley High. This finale really did a great job of giving everyone their own full arc which satisfied as well as left them with something to achieve or look forward to next season.
Let’s start with the outlier, Cindy Burman. The daughter of Dragon King got her revenge as she killed her father, unintentionally helping Shining Knight before heading off to battle Courtney.
Cindy’s attack led to Yolanda having a reckoning of her own as she had to head further into the tunnels and saw an unexpected face. Henry King Jr.’s arc was one of my favorite things about this season so I was blown away when one of the Dragon King’s minions was revealed to be the teen who we thought died earlier this season. After the heartbreaking moment where it was revealed that it was actually Brainwave attempting to use Yolanda’s love for Henry as a way to get her to betray her friends, the young girl made a choice driven by fear, anger, and hate, slitting his throat and watching him bleed out in the same place he killed his son. It’s a stark moment and one that reflects a change in Yolanda, and contrasts an equally important moment for Rick.

Stargirl: Who are the Justice Society Members?
By Mike Cecchini
Before we get to that, though, Courtney and Yolanda reunite and the former blows up the satellite that was projecting Brainwave’s signal. With the world seemingly saved, there are two immediate problems: Solomon Grundy and Barbara who’s been kidnapped by Icicle. Rick wants to take care of the first issue, and after saving Pat from the monster and sending him to save Barb, Rick begins the vengeful beatdown he’s been dreaming of for so long.
But when it comes to striking the final blow on the creature that killed his parents, he can’t actually do it. Earlier in the episode we saw Yolanda begging him not to kill only to commit a murder herself, and yet here Rick decides to show mercy to Grundy, shocking himself and finding a different kind of closure.
With Barb at the mercy of Jordan, Pat and Courtney turn up just in time. And after a dramatic rooftop showdown, Jordan is defeated by an unexpected assist from Mike saving the day. With the Dragon defeated, Shining Knight heads off to find the Seven Soldiers of Victory and the rest of the new JSA settles back into their daily lives before we hit a couple of killer stingers which we’ll get into later as the real ending of the show is all about Courtney realizing that Pat is the father she wanted all along.
The pair share a heartwarming scene where Court gives her sidekick and stepdad the gift that she held onto for so long for her biological father, and in a lovely moment it’s revealed to be a “World’s Greatest Dad” mug. Brec Bassinger and Luke Wilson have been at the heart of the series all along and this is a lovely, quiet moment that acknowledges that as well as cementing their relationship before they head out on a magical snow-capped flight. So with all of that said, let’s get into where this leaves the roster of heroes and rogues and what it all means.
Is Icicle Really Dead?
This is the obvious question that we’re left with after Mike ran over the leader of the ISA while he was in the process of transforming, leading to him being shattered in the street. It seems like a pretty un-comeback-from-able death, but the fact that Jordan can manipulate water means there’s a chance that he’s just dribbled into the drains of Blue Valley, ready to either plan his revenge or head to the labs of the late Dragon King in an attempt to put himself back together.
We know that the Injustice Society is filled with villains who should be dead and Jordan did promise that he would succeed in his nefarious plan to “fix” America, so maybe he’ll be back for Stargirl season 2…
Could Mike Really Join the JSA?
After successfully demolishing Jordan just as he was about to freeze his sister, Mike asks whether his heroic moment means that he can join the JSA. It’s a funny moment that also hints at some possibilities for the future of Pat Dugan’s son. While in the comics he never had an official superhero mantle, that could definitely change here.
But if Geoff Johns and co. continue to be inspired by the comic book series that introduced readers to Stargirl and her family–as well as giving the two-part season finale its name–then his role could be deeply connected to another shocking moment of “Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E. Part Two” and the fate of another team member.
What About S.T.R.I.P.E.?
During his epic fight with Solomon Grundy, S.T.R.I.P.E. was decimated. The giant monster ripped off the impressive mech’s legs and beat him with his own arm. It was a brutal display of strength from Grundy and left S.T.R.I.P.E. in a state of disrepair.
Seeing as Pat built the rad machine himself and we see S.T.R.I.P.E. return at the end, we know he’ll be okay. But the big thing to note here is who will help him. Season one has done a great job of seeding Mike as a potential sidekick to Pat and Courtney, especially with his clear prowess for science and invention. In the comics Mike does go on to help his father fix and innovate S.T.R.I.P.E. so after the events of the finale it seems likely we’ll see that thread brought into the sophomore outing of the series.
Where Did the Gambler Go?
Seeing as the Gambler is the only member of the ISA without powers, he did a pretty great job at getting out of Blue Valley and apparently surviving. Thanks to Beth’s brilliant thinking, he no longer has millions of dollars to rebuild his life which means his options are few and his taste for vengeance will be heightened.
If we look to the comics there’s a chance that Steven Sharpe could settle down as when he disappeared off the map before he had a family and then ended up killing himself after losing all his money in Vegas. Of course, that could also hint that maybe due to Beth and Chuck donating all of his money to charity we may never see the Gambler again. Perhaps his financial loss may have been too much? Or he may just be far too scared to continue without his super powered colleagues who have all perished? For now his fate is unclear.
How Will Beth Fix Chuck?
There were plenty of heartbreaking moments this week but high up there was Beth’s grief over Chuck. The A.I. representation of the original Doctor Mid-Nite has become a friend, confidant, and sidekick for the lonely young girl, and Beth’s relationship with the goggles he inhabits has been a highlight of the season. But when Jordan destroys them with his ice powers it seems like the connection and power of Doctor Mid-Nite may be no more.
The truth is that Beth is Doctor Mid-Nite with or without the goggles, but the big question here is how she’ll come to realize that. Perhaps it will be by fixing the unique tool herself or by discovering another artifact or memory bank that Chuck left behind. Either way, we’re sure that Beth will continue her reign as the hero.
Will Yolanda Go Rogue?
Though she likely saved her friends and the town of Blue Valley–and potentially America–with her actions, killing Brainwave was still a moment that will haunt the hero. Despite the fact that the episode ended with Courtney and the new JSA sitting together, Yolanda was set apart, distracted and alone. There’s a good chance that whatever happens next season we may see her split with her young and hopeful cohorts, especially after Rick refused to kill Grundy and Courtney’s horrified response to Yolanda’s killing.
I don’t believe that Yolanda will go full villain but her experiences with Brainwave could encourage a more hard line vigilante stance that might not fit with the cleancut JSA.
Who Was That in the Injustice Society’s lair?
Well, well, well. If you’ve been wondering who’s going to take over from the now defunct Injustice Society, look no further than that strange top-hatted figure who appeared in the ISA lair at the end of the finale. In the fourth episode there was a really quick reference to a rogue known as the Shade who betrayed the ISA and it looks like from this stinger that the Shade is back in Blue Valley.

Stargirl Villains: A Guide to the Injustice Society
By Rosie Knight
So who are they? Well, in the comics the character debuted in a 1942 Flash Comics issue and was portrayed as an enigmatic man with a magical cane that could control shadows. But the version that we’re most likely seeing here is the ageless Victorian immortal who played a key role in Stargirl writer/producer James Robinson’s 1994 run on Starman.
In that series the character is less of a villain and more of a roguish anti-hero who will switch sides whenever it suits him. There’s plenty to take from the Shade’s appearance but the most interesting aspect is the definitely supernatural nature of the character and the demon-filled, era-spanning world that he inhabits. It seems like a drastic shift in tone from the nostalgic Americana of the first season and does seem to hint at a darker and more magic-filled followup.
It’s also important to note that during his time on Justice League of America Robinson wrote in a story about the Shade being possessed by a powerful spirit known as Eclipso, who also (sort of) popped up in the finale with the help of none other than Cindy Burman.
Who or What is Eclipso?
Ahhh, this is the kind of question I live for. Even in an age where we have a JSA team on prime time TV made up of teenage girls and a Harley Quinn series that regularly features Kite Man, Eclipso is a capital D deep cut inclusion. And there are a few exciting ways that they could go with the late stage reveal that Cindy has discovered “the Heart of Darkness” gem where the immortal supervillain is trapped. She found it in the easter-egg-filled basement of The Wizard’s home.
Now in the comics, Eclipso is a supernatural character based on the concept of wrath and more specifically the Angel of Vengeance. That immediately fits Cindy’s current mindset as we know she’s on a mission to destroy everything that Blue Valley has to offer. I mean, she killed her own father but was equally as eager to kill Courtney and stop the Justice Society.

Stargirl: The History of Shining Knight
By Rosie Knight
Eclipso has manifested in many hosts in the DC Universe, but the one that seems most relevant here is Jean Loring, nee Palmer, who’s probably most well known as the murderer in Identity Crisis. Just like Cindy, Jean discovered the gem which housed Eclipso and was later possessed by him and given his powers. We know that Cindy is desperate to become a super villain and will stop at nothing to do it, meaning that she would likely try and harness the evil spirit to achieve her goals.
The other interesting thing to note here is this could also be a backdoor way of Stargirl introducing another lesser-known DC hero to the  young cast. In certain parts of Eclipso canon it was the Princess of House Amethyst who imprisoned him in the gem. Now DC has been doing a push on bringing the teenage fantasy heroine to the screen, so if Eclipso gets loose in Blue Valley maybe Amethyst will have to leave Gemworld and head to our world to help out?
We wrote in much more detail about the history of Eclipso and what he could mean for Stargirl Season 2 right here.
Starman’s Alive???
This was easily the episode’s biggest reveal and leads to some of the most complex theorizing as well as some deep cut but necessary explanations. So in the world of Stargirl, Sylvester Pemberton is alive and well, which comes as a huge shock because we thought that we saw him die a decade ago at the hands of the Injustice Society. There’s always the chance that this is some kind of Clayface/shape-shifter scenario, but if not it leads to some really interesting questions and will bring to light something that a lot of comic book fans have been wondering.
See, in the comics Sylvester Pemberton was the Star-Spangled Kid but he was never actually Starman. The mantle he took on after retiring as the young hero was Skyman. The real comic book Starman was Ted Knight who was followed by his brother David and later by Ted’s son Jack. There have been other heroes who have used the name Starman but none have been Sylvester Pemberton.
It’ll be interesting to see just how the show combines these two disparate narratives now that Pemberton is potentially back in the picture. In the comics he does team up with Stargirl at one point, which could be echoed here. But it feels like this might be more of an arc for Pat who has spent his life dealing with the ramifications of a death that might not have actually happened at all. So what is Starman hiding? Where has he been? And most importantly of all for Courtney, is he going to want his Cosmic Staff back?
We’ll have to wait to find out the answers to all of these questions and the fates of our lovely teenage heroes, but whatever comes next we cannot wait for the return of our favorite new superhero show!
