jeongwoo, preparing to meet nagyeom, went to sangcheol's place and left his phone there on purpose, trusting sangcheol both to

a) find him if anything goes wrong by following nagyeom

AND B) that sangcheol would TRY TO REACH HIM at some point and when he couldn't he would immediately start looking for him

if sangcheol didn't want to reach jeongwoo during the night? if he didn't start looking for him? if he didn't immediately grasp what was happening just by seeing jeongwoo's phone? if he (in his own words) didn't run like crazy to get to jeongwoo before anything happens? then this all would've turned really ugly
