i feel like… Steve is not believable as a life partner. I don’t know why I can see him cheating or more likely just not completely engaged with you as time goes on.

you will never come first. it will always be his commitment to some duty or righteous battle or his mind just being so far away. I can’t help but see him that way but I don’t want to he’s my greatest comfort please help

Especially when considering how they did his character in Endgame, I completely understand why you feel that way!

I split MCU Steve into 2 versions. The Endgame one is the archetypal Cap.-- so imo he would be duty first, honor first, big-picture humanity first. He is the Steve who is so rigid in his character that going back to Peggy makes sense. He ultimately becomes a caricature of himself so his world only works in extremes. This boy would 100% grow distant with you. You’re not his apple pie narrative, nor are you the embodiment of all humanity-- whatever.

Pre-Endgame Steve fought the government for Bucky. He went prison break on super jail island. He dumped being a shiny lil Avenger for being a fugitive because he would eat shit before he let them cuff his friends. He is soooooooo fucking loyal, bro. This Steve fucks. This Steve eats ass.
