hi..., do you have any little anatomy tips?? You're really good with full front facing faces and bodies... Every time I draw a straight symmetrical face it looks crocked no matter which way I do it?? Flip the canvas and he's slanting like a mountain you know what I mean *sobs*
Oh sure!! This is kind of just general anatomy advice but it’s honestly what has helped me the most, and that’s just drawing from life! I love figure drawing, but I know figure drawing classes can be ridiculously expensive so I really recommend just kinda going out (usually with some cool shades) and start drawing folks! This helps with faces, poses, etc. Too! Generally a great way to get good is to do a lot of it! I usually like going to the park, family party/events, or even the mall! But with current circumstances there’s also great websites such as posemaniacs and others! (I believe I just recently reblogged a post that shares some posing/modeling sights and I can’t recommend it enough!! If you want some casual practice you can also pause movies/shows and draw the poses! You can even do this with animated shows, see how they break up anatomy and simplify it! The point is to do lots of drawings, bad ones, fast ones, messy ones, just do it a bunch of times!!! Then also go and take your time breaking up the shapes you see on a body! Like how does the deltoid connect to the clavicle? Etc etc. But the most important thing is definitley practicing with lots of reference!!
As for drawing things straight on, flipping the canvas a lot is actually a really good idea! What I also do is once I have a rough structure, like a face shape for example, I tend to start with a nose cause it’s the middle of the face? And then branch from there, it helps to draw each complimentary line at the same time?? So like if I draw the top line of the eye on the right I immediately do the top line on the left, then the bottom on the right, then again on the left, working in that way kinda helps me find a rhythm to the symmetry if that makes sense??? And of course I flip the canvas and fix and mistakes I see :> again I draw a lot of faces cause it’s my fave thing to do so that has helped immensely! I just do it a lot fjfjfj, I used to SUCK HARD at profiles, so I just kept drawing profiles again and again and now I’m not so bad at it fjfjf but yeah!!!
Hope this helps anon!! If you need anything clarified don’t be afraid to DM me cause I know I probably sound a bit confusing without actual drawing examples to show you ffff
