Hm. I didn't actually think about the implications of this scene when I watched it, but now that you mention it, yeah, this is kind of a weird scene to fit in at the end. Especially since we left some other more important topics to interpretation.

I'm assuming though that since Miri sort of "talks" to Misaki through the picture- I think Kazuki and Rei did tell her she died, but how they told her is up to the viewer's own interpretation.

But yeah, it is a bit weird how they bring this up and it kind of seems like Miri has a problem with it?? But doesn't, because they immediately brush the topic off anyways?

But as a Kazurei shipper, I love this conclusion, actually.

In fact, I think PA works did really well by not portraying Kazurei as a romantic relationship.

Platonic relationships are very important too!! Platonic partnerships already don't have enough representation in the media, let alone queer platonic relationships, so Kazuki and Rei's friendship really means a lot to me as an asexual person.

Their friendship isn't just the ordinary friendship we see in most animes because their relationship goes deeper than that as shown in this episode and previous ones too. I mean, Kazuki and Rei literally escaped a dangerous organization, started a new life, and raised their daughter together for ten years!! That's amazing and wholesome and just the best kind of love I've seen in media so far??

I think a lot of people forget that two people can experience more than just romantic love or friendship- some bonds go deeper than that, so instead of being upset or disappointed by the lack of Kazurei's romantic relationship, I think we should celebrate this amazing representation of a queerplatonic relationship instead!
