Bro the squid game netflix show is actually awful. I don't know why they thought it was a good idea. I actually had to stop watching, it made me feel physically ill. Fuck capitalism. Fuck netflix.

Rant ahead. Tw for description of the game, descriptions of violence, mention of gore, anxiety, swearing, high stakes situations, fucking evil corporations, genocide

There's this guy on the third (?) episode and they force him to make an important decision that affects a quarter of the contestants fate. And so this guy is fucking shaking, and he says "they're gonna remember me as the guy who stopped them from becoming a millionaire". Yeah probably. And during the challenge, he was trying not to puke and people were 'dying' around him and he felt it all. That was not right.

Unless they were rich beforehand, this money could change their whole lives and Netflix are fucking pigs for dangling that in their faces. As if we'll think that their fear and desperation (for what Netflix would view as cents) is fun and entertaining. God, it was actually horrifying.

Sure, they weren't killing anyone. They were taunting 99% of contestants with the hopes of a future without poverty and struggle for them and their families. Netflix is a billionaire fucking company. It could have given every single person that prize money, easily, without feeling the cost at all. Instead they made it scarce, and they made everyone fight each other and cry and suffer. They put decisions in their hands like, oh you could be generous or selfless- rather than them, the fucking pigs with the money. Cry for the TV. Fuck you. Fuck you. Completely dehumanising and unfair and fucked.

"We're not forcing them" they'd say like the literal fascist villains in the fictional squid game said. But it's not a choice at all, really, because the prize money is so much more than anyone can imagine having- that it's only reasonable to compete and throw each other under the bus (they coerced contestants into eliminating each other, to hold another's future in their hands) and live in fear of losing that slim possibility for days or weeks. This could make or break their lives. Millions.

The disappointment and feeling of failure would weigh heavy, even when some games were clearly rigged like Red Light Green Light. THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO MAKE THESE STUPID CHOICES AND PLAY THIS STUPID GAME for the amusement and profit of others. Netflix didn't have to make the show. Absolute lack of media literacy to think this was a good idea. Absolute lack of empathy to think it wouldn't fucking hurt to watch. Fuckwads.

I don't know why it strikes me so much more than the other 'compete for the money reality shows', though I'm not a fan of the genre. Maybe it's because the stakes are much higher. $4 million. Rather than ten or a hundred thousand, a tangible amount someone could possibly make in this system if they slave away for decades (with higher education). Unlike $4 million. You'd never have to work again. Never have to worry or budget or even check the price tag of the clothes you buy again.

I think it's also because we're watching them play the same game in the same setting as the fucking horror/thriller TV show with people getting shot in the head. Blood and gore. It's not real, they weren't going to actually die, but so many people were shaking as they cut out the dalgona. So many people flinched at the gunshots.

This show reminds me that it is a game to some people. Entertainment. Apathy. They didn't die in this game, this time. But there is a warzone out there. There are multiple genocides out there. There are people actually dying and begging online for money that could save their lives, (fucking cents to corporations like this) (they refuse to save lives. they profit from desperation and suffering and death)

It's also around 450 people who lose out instead of like 20. I always thought those other shows were staged and everyone gets a small cut. Here, the suffering was stark. If it was rigged, it didn't seem like the players were aware of the fact.

The billionaires hide. This billionaire corporation has the fucking audacity to release this show at a time like this. Fucking abhorrent. They have vast amounts of money, they can help an incredible amount of people but they do not.

It is companies, fat cats, greedy ceos who can save lives with the money that they don't use but they don't. No, they prefer to buy meaningless things to show off their wealth while people can't buy food. They prefer to hoard money in their greed. They build an empire on our broken bones.

It's people, real empathetic people, coming together, pooling their small amounts of money together, to contribute to fundraisers in order to save lives. It's people who give their time and empathy to those of us who suffer. It's people who risk their lives in Gaza to help eachother. It's people who may feel the cost of giving money away, but do so anyway. We are human and it is our strength.

I am thankful that hope and strength persist in the face of oppression. It frustrates me that we like and share and donate and boycott and hope, when all of this could be done with a snap of a million/billionaire's fingers but they refuse to care. It seems futile, to talk about this when the people with real wealth refuse to listen. It's been two years now and nothing seems to change for the better, but it does in small ways. I am proud that so many people do help. I am glad.

I hope for a better world, one day. One in which we all have equal opportunities, equal access to food, safety, healthcare and education. A world without corporate greed and unequal power. A world that doesn't run on the suffering of the majority. Empathy and humanity persist, despite it all.

This game highlighted the stark difference in our class, that they think it's entertainment when it is in fact, life and death for some people. They pit us against each other in this capitalism system. Fight or help one another, when it's not us with the power to stop the genocide. There is power in numbers, though.

•the sorting hat barely even touched his head before it announced "slytherin"

•worked his way up until he became what he is today

•his goal is to erase the stigma of slytherins being evil

•intimidates everyone with his sharp eyes and blank face but don't be fooled, he's as extra and wild as the others

•once dared himself to wrestle with the black lake's giant squid

•always aims to be the best at everything, probably to the point of overworking himself

•as a first year flying had come naturally to him and easily became his favourite subject but was soon replaced by defence against the dark arts

•the boy is a quick thinker and could disarm his opponent in a matter of seconds, though he is good at casting other spells he opts for a defensive style of duelling

•ever since he was young he dreamt of being an auror

•the team captain of slytherin's quidditch team, his swiftness and agility earned him the title "best chaser"

•bc of this the sorting hat actually took longer to sort him than usual wondering whether it should put him in slytherin or gryffindor, he had almost been a hatstall but after a silent debate between the two beomgyu had chosen gryffindor bc they had and i quote 'pretty colours'

•had to be physically restrained by soobin and yeonjun after he tried to fight a student who had called taehyun a "mudblood"

•Charms and transfiguration are his areas of expertise

•favourite spell is "accio" and practically uses it for everything

Obviously the most vanilla of them all, a classic, learned how to climb ladders when i was 12 and infiltrated my treehouse fortress. was not impressed. I dont have any strong negative emotions towards them.... theyre just ugly little men who make noises outside my house at 2am... 7/10

these boys are less valid than zombies. Im what the kids like to call a melee fighter so anyone with long ranged attacks is my mortal enemy. mostly my feelings toward them are the same as zombies, classic, but also actually i dislike them a little more so 6/10

Spider

spiders are.... how do i say.... very good? so like other than the obvious ‘they jump at you and are Very Dangerous’ during the day time theyre just like little friends who hang out with you! I love spiders.... not in real life tho. I love in australia and Spiders Bad. okay so not bad just like annoying? they just showing up everywhere... just chillin laying on the floor of your bedroom blasting subwoofer lullaby? now theres a spider on your arm. 9/10

Creeper

easily one of my least favourites. why would you blow up so much of my stuff?? why did you have to kill honey? I loved her and she was an amazing dog and you killed her. WHY??? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME???? 0/10

so very quick! very secluded with a nice little family... but they out here poisoning ppl so not a Big Fan. once i didnt notice they were there and they started murdering me but i didnt die because i got my bearings and did a murder on them.

just some silly little wet boys. im not a big fan bc i like going in the water. oh and also like i’ll just be swimming and they just show up and hit you like... HEy whered that damage come from... also the drowned with tridents? Fuck them.. I hate them.. theyre like skeletons (long ranged attack, very bad) but so much worse. who thought it’d be a good idea to add them??? fuck that person.. i was once thousands of blocks away from my base and also in the middle of an ocean exploring and one of them killed me and i lost Everything that i had with me. 5.5/10

much like husks i have limited experience with these boys. I dont like them tho.. they stop me from entering the water monuments and thats like trying to stop your cat from putting its face in your food. theyre also very scary and just kill squids and turtles like thats so rude. 2/10

Vindicator

once again, limited experience and my only experience was Very Bad. my friends and i spent ages befriending cartographers to get a map to find a woodland mansion and to start of it spawned near lava so it was just burning down when we got there so theres that.. the vindicators were merciless just coming at us, we were on fire and being attacked by them. not a great time. 1/10

Vex 

ive never actually encountered these? i didnt see them whilst being attacked in the story above so yea.. but theyre cute little fellas, I assume they are Very Mean but i feel camaraderie with them for being short. I still dont like them tho. 6/10

Witch 

oh just a lovely little lesbian living her dreams of potion making out in a swamp. amazing little huts, absolutely superb. funkey. they dont get full marks because they keep attacking me and i dont like it :(  9/10

a What? Ive never seen one of these guys in game but i just read the wiki and they slow you down with arrows so like thats no good. hate that. 3/10

I’ve heard from some sources that they are.... gay? just bouncy men. split into four? rude. its Very Annoying killing them. I used to always play on creative bc Fear so I always assumed they were passive mobs but then i played survival and they attacked me and honestly I felt so attacked. but once again, gay, bouncy. 4/10
