Things I'm gathering from the Titan AE novel part 1 (prologue-chapter 2)

-Cale's dad, Sam Tucker, was an inventor. He encouraged baby Cale to pursue his passion.

-Cale himself had built the toy he is playing with when evacuation starts. It is called something like "floater-spinner" (Mind you, I'm reading the Spanish translation so this is a re-translation of the term lmao)

-The ring Tucker gives Cale changes size. When he takes it off it's one sixeand when Cale puts it on, it becomes smaller to adjust to his 5 year-old-sized fingers. Cale thinks it's awesome, and I do too.

-15 years later, Cale is trying to build himself a ship to fly away from Tau-14, where he lives and works and hates. He thinks he'll finish the ship by the time he's 25 years old and that he will be super old and possibly white haired by then and no woman will want him.

-Some guy offers him pornographic material for a week's salary. Which tbh sounds expensive?

-It's explicitly and emphatically stated humans are the lowest of the low and that humanity suffers racism from other alien species. It is also stated this comes from them being literally dispossessed, as they have no planet and no resources of their own. This is compared to how immigration used to be treated on Earth.

-no superior authority has investigated or questioned the drej for destroying Earth. It is implied there is in fact some sort of "international" Law in space but other species simply didn't care enough about humans to do anything about it and punish the drej or put them on trial. Therefore, the implication here is that it can in fact be done somehow. My take is humans had terrible diplomatic relations.

-However, Cale also says there isn't any law here but the rule of the strongest, like in the wildermess. Go figure.

-Cale describes Akima as angel-looking.

-Akima's family was separated when Earth was destroyed. She was raised by her mother in an errant colony.

-What remained of humanity after Earth got together in errant colonies, and rented moons and asteroids from alien species. To survive, some colonies ecame gambling places, others exported workforce (Akima was raised in one of these, called Houston). Some colony names: Houston, Sao Paulo, New Marrakech, New Bangkok.

-Korso arrived Houston in need of a pilot, Akima was hired on the spot. No questions, she only cares about piloting the Valkyrie because it's like a REALLY cool ship. She had been kicked out of her previous job for punching her creepy boss.

-Akima recognizes Korso for some reason? She saw him giving Sam Tucker's papers to some dude in New Marrakech "before the drej destroyed it". Go figure x2

-Stith and Akima are friends from before and it seems they have flied together many times before. Stith is a Mantrin, and apparently they love shooting and warfare.

-Interespecies intimate relations are apparently not contemplated: Akima is relieved all tripulation (save Korso) are aliens so she will not have to deal with sexual harassment again "unless the aliens are perverts". Sorry, monster and alien fuckers, this in not the scifi for you.

-She also says Korso won't be a problem because he is too busy and focused elsewhere to care about her. Also, she thinks he looks like a devil. He's also deacribed as an "interesting looking" dark-haired, muscular man with a naughty smile.

-Idk who financed this expedition but it's EXPENSIVE
