Yeah, I think I have to say this now. I don't really see the Serge & Jane aesthetic and I'd appreciate it if we could not imply that in future asks. The only thing I see is their liking for these two but I don't see Alex dressing like him or behaving like him // when did this comparing start? I’ve seen people posting pictures of Serge and Jane and say they’re literally him and Lou. But how?? Why? He doesn’t look like him and fortunately nothing about his personality resembles him. And Lou is not the only French girl who’s a Jane copycat so idk where’s the resemblance. Do these people even know that Serge and Jane didn’t have a great relationship and he was abusive? And it didn’t even last. What’s so romantic about it?

Well, usually it's enough when one fan page draws the wrong conclusions which then travel within the fandom. But Alex didn't help the matter as he's talked about Gainsbourg long before Louise. So people knew he liked him. Then enter Louise and her hard-on for Birkin. She constantly posted pics of her and Gainsbourg and people just took that at face value. It wasn't difficult to make that connection but like you said people clearly didn't look into these two or they would know how dysfunctional and problematic that relationship was. People love a romanticised version of anything and people with a more realistic POV get attacked.

It's too late now anyway. This narrative is pervasive in this fandom now. You won't change people's minds anymore but I'd like it not to happen on this blog.
