R/Sally for the ship meme?? I don’t know if anyone but me actually ships them but I like how little they are in the actual books and the vibes are impeccable I say

I've always seen R as a contradictory woman—someone who can easily turn on the High Society Glamour, but is also prone to wild nights out and enjoys more than a little hell-raising (all in good fun, of course). To me, this would almost be an opposites-attract scenario; Sally is very orderly and calm, while R is much more unpredictable. I like to imagine Sally got into this relationship thinking she'd met a match, and is now constantly stressed out (affectionately) by R's shenanigans

After Gustav's death, R was worried about Sally being in danger, and tried to help her sort through her brother's papers and keep her out of the firestarter's way—this worked, but I also think Sally would have been upset by it, seeing not as protection, but as a declaration that R doesn't trust her to look after herself

R couldn't be as involved with the organisation around the time of the schism and series due to her position as Duchess, and Sally initially thought this was a good thing because she assumed R would be safe. In reality, it meant that she didn't hear until too late that the firestarting side had taken her, and I absolutely believe Sally was not only one of the first to notice, but would have immediately launched her own investigation into R's disappearance
