Peggy had worked tirelessly to make sure she could keep her composure in that godforsaken courtroom. She had run countless trial runs with Anthony and with Sharon, fending off the most insulting questions– ones that called into question her own honor, Bucky's, even Steve's. So she'd kept her head on straight. She'd called on every ounce of professionalism in her. And then when it had come time to speak, she simply did. They'd called upon her as a character witness and she'd spoken to his character.

She smiles warmly at her friend, already feeling a weight lifting off of her chest. "I told the truth," she says, "simple as that. There's no need to thank me."
