To say that he was shocked was an understatement. The sight of Ni-ki, his idol member, gagged him. "What?" You awkwardly chuckled when seeing his expression. "Tell me if you ever have any problems, I'm here to listen, babe." His words confused you, but you sooner realised what he was aiming at. Now, you're the one with the shocked expression. "BUT really, really for real, hear me out alright." You try to persuade your boyfriend, but he only lays down on the couch, his head resting in his palm that was propped on the cushion. "I am not hearing you out, he's literally like a younger brother to me." Heeseung yawns, "Is it my turn now?" You nod disappointedly. He turns around to his stack of paper cut-outs of mainly game characters before he turns back around and stick a picture of one of your group members. "WHAT!"
(more under the cut !!)

The look that Jay gave you the second he saw that you pulled out a small Sunoo selca was hillarious. "Tell me why he is there but not me?" He says, the hand placed on his chest exposing his secret demeanour. "Let's be honest, Sunoo is magestic." You argue, and you see how Jay quirks an eyebrow. "What have I done to deserve this? Has he tricked you into this?" His voice sounds questioning as he grabs onto each side of your shoulders, his fingers slowly grabbing you harder. "Jay, babe, I promise he didn't. I just have free will." You give him a kiss on the cheek and his grip softens. "Don't worry though, you're still my number one. No one beats the handsomeness you possess." You say with a chuckle, but Jay just shakes his head slowly with a worried expression.
𝗦𝗜𝗠 𝗝𝗔𝗬𝗨𝗡
He watches as you place the Sunghoon cut-out on the messily frosted cake that you baked together. "Sunghoon? The Park Sunghoon?" Jake archs an eyebrow as he leans down closer to the cake to inspect the photo you chose. With a hum you nod you head. "I've got to admit, I am absolutely hearing you out on this guy." jake rubs his palms together and has a smirk on his face. Instead of worrying him, he worried you. It was supposed to be a little prank, but now you're wondering if he's pranking you in some way. "really?" You drag out. "100% Have you seen this guy's jawline, it's so sharp it could cut this cake." "And you're not worried I'm gonna go after him?" He scoffs mickingly as he says, "As if! He's way out of you league anyways." "But I'm in your league, so we're both in the same boat, no?" You raise an eyebrow. "Wait a moment."
𝙋𝘼𝙍𝙆 𝙎𝙐𝙉𝙂𝙃𝙊𝙊𝙉
"Why do you have the courage to do this in front of me?" Sunghoon let out a long sigh. "Do what?" "Why did you put a shorter guy, a less handsome guy and a 'I-want-women-to-ask-me-out' person on this masterpiece of a cake we baked." He was dramatic, something you were used to by now, and you simply rolled your eyes at him. "You mean Jake," you corrected him. Sunghoon mocked a gag as he crumbled the cut out and threw it away. The paper flung right over his shoulder before hitting the wall, the sound echoing through the silence. "Why want him, when you have me?" You felt your cheeks flushing red with embarrassment at the question. You tried to dismiss it by absently waving your hands in the air until he grabbed you by the wirst, almost forcing you to look him in the eyes. "So?" He asked with curious eyes. "Well, it's not like he's better than you anyways,"
𝗞𝗜𝗠 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗢𝗢
The game had gone smoothly, him placing a fictional character that was universally agreed upon, and you did the same. But Sunoo flipped out when he saw Jungwon on the cake. "Why him, babe." He whined, and you shrugged. "Something about him is just like that." You shrugged, causing your boyfriend to raise an eyebrow. "Like what?" Sunoo interrogated, this being the main subject now. "I mean, he's got that leader quality, no?" "He also abuses me, he hits me. Do you like that?" He asked, a feigned look of sadness present on his face. "Jungwon would never." You almost shout, getting too invested in this persona for the prank. Sunoo sighs and continues with the game. Thus after it was finished, he made a point again, "Would you like me to call him?" he asked, and you were confused, "call who?" "Jungwon, of course." You burst out laughing. "No! Babe, I was pranking you." He rolled his eyes.
𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗪𝗢𝗡
This man finds stuff like this fun, but the idea not so much. Jungwon enjoyed baking the cake with you, but when he saw that you sneakily placed a small laminated picture of Sunoo, he gave you a side glare. This had shocked him quite a bit, and he dropped the ones he held in his grasp. "You dared do this to me?" It sounded playful with the tiny scoff he let out afterwards as a way to contain his giggles. "Well..." You dragged out, not fully knowing what to say. "Put that out of my sight." "But why!" You argued, to see how angry he'd get. "Babe, tell me one thing." You nodded, trying to hold his hand, but he made no effort. "Is this your way of saying that you want to break up with me? Am I not pretty enough?" He asked, and you scrunched your eyebrows. "What- no! I love you, you're making me feel about about this prank now. Sorry, baby." You apologised and threw the cut-out away.
𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗔 𝗥𝗜𝗞𝗜
"Heeseung hyung?" Riki was almost flabbergasted by the look on his face and tone. It had come out so suddenly without having time to proccess what you meant when putting his elder on the cake. You nodded confidently, not wanting to retreat from this prank. You wanted to get back at him for all the times he left you clueless and shocked. "Damn, didn't know you liked them older, babe." He sighed dramatically as he placed his palm against his chest, acting hurt by the sight in front of him. "What, no-" You began to explainn only for him to cut you off quickly, saying, "If you wait a couple of years, I'll be older, so I hope that's okay for you." Now you were confused by what he was yapping about. "Ki, it was just a prank." You declared, a hand over your face as you were fed up by his shenanigans. "i know, hun, I know."

The days feel brighter with you.
No amount of paperwork, miscalculations, messed up orders can change the light you bring into his life. The moment he met you, he knew it was strange. Feeling himself being reeled in like a fish too quickly scared him. But if you asked him that question, he’d never admit his fear.
His smile had a mind of its own, curling up in a subconscious way whenever you so much as spared him a fleeting glance. And when you smiled at him? He was on cloud nine. His heart beat faster and stomach fluttered like a little schoolboy when he was in your vicinity.
But he was always careful. So careful, too careful. Like the way someone treads lightly around a fragile thing they can never keep. You were so full of life, so innocent in your joy, and he was nothing but a darkened silhouette in the background.
He knew what you deserved, and it wasn’t him. Not a man like him, burdened with secrets and a past he couldn’t shake off. And you? You were meant for someone who could offer the world, not someone like him who could barely provide anything but a fleeting moment of warmth.
He had a way of slipping into your presence unnoticed, his longing buried deep within the corners of his chest. When he laughed at your jokes, it was because he couldn’t bear the thought of you seeing through him, of knowing just how badly he wanted to be more than a passing acquaintance. He wanted to reach out, touch your hand, but the words always died in his throat, swallowed by the fear of your rejection.
He knew the truth, though. You would never see him as he saw you. You would never feel that electric pull, that magnetic force that lured him to you in ways he couldn’t explain, ways he would never allow himself to. Because it would hurt too much, to love someone who didn’t even know.
The days grew brighter with you, but in the back of his mind, he could feel the darkness creeping in. He was just a shadow in your life, and nothing more. And it was enough for him, even if it meant living in a love that would never be returned. As long as you were happy. As long as you smiled. That was all he could ever ask for. He sometimes joked with himself about just saying ‘fuck it’ and getting down on one knee for you. He would.
Too bad his best friend had the balls to do it before he did.
He saw it coming, of course. You and Suguru have been together for five years. He was there through every phase of your growing relationship, a background character in a main couple’s story. It’s why he felt guilty about his feelings—his thoughts. But he always justified it with a he knew you first.
He watched the way Suguru could make you laugh with the simplest words, how your eyes lit up when he held you close. It was the kind of love that made the world feel like it had all the right answers—answers he never had. He shouldn’t be pining after you. You were Suguru’s, and the world had made that clear. But there was always a part of him that entertained the what ifs. He was there before Suguru, before the smiles and the promises, before the certainty of love that seemed to hold you two together like a force stronger than gravity.
And yet, here he was, helpless. Watching you slip further away, like sand through his fingers. You were so easy to love, and so impossible to have.
He’d gotten good at keeping his distance. At laughing along with Suguru’s jokes, at pretending to be happy for the both of you. But inside, it was a constant ache, a pain that never went away, no matter how many times he buried it under a mask of smiles and camaraderie. He wondered if you ever noticed the way he looked at you. The quiet longing that always seemed to flicker in his eyes when you spoke. But you never did. How could you? You were too wrapped up in the love you had with Suguru to ever see the way his heart twisted with every word you spoke, every touch you gave.
But maybe, just maybe, he could keep pretending. Keep pretending that your happiness meant more than his own. Because that’s what love was, right? Sacrificing for the one you cared about, even if they never knew the weight of it.
“Are you happy, Satoru?”
Your question was simple enough, but you really had no idea just how much weight it held. Not like he would tell you. His head tilts, playfully smiling. “Happy? Why do you ask, hm?”
“I’ve just been wondering…” you mutter, tracing your glass rim with a manicured nail. Looking up at him in such a way that makes him want to wrap his arms around your body and hold on tight. “I don’t want to be invasive, but sometimes it just feels…faked.”
Huh, so you’re not as oblivious as he thought you were.
But your words hit him like a cold wave, a shock to his system. You had no idea. You never would. The smile on his face falters for just a moment, yet it’s enough. Enough to make him feel like he’s exposed, vulnerable, like you might see right through the layers he’d spent so long building up.
Faked.
That word stings more than anything else you could’ve said. Because, in some twisted way, you were right. He had spent so long pretending, so long wearing a mask that even he had begun to forget what it was like to feel anything real. What it was like to want something for himself, to let someone in without fear.
He takes a slow breath, his gaze softening, eyes flicking to the side, pretending to consider the question. “I’m happy. Why wouldn’t I be?” His voice is casual, a practiced indifference, but inside, his heart is pounding.
You don’t buy it. You never did.
“I don’t know, Satoru. You always seem so… distant. Like you’re somewhere else, even when you’re here.” There’s a hint of concern in your tone, but it’s laced with a careful distance, as if you’re treading around something fragile.
He swallows hard, the weight of your gaze digging into him. You see it, don’t you? The cracks in the armor he’s so carefully constructed. The loneliness he hides behind every joke, every flirtatious smile.
But he can’t tell you the truth. Not when your words have the power to break him, to shatter everything he’s built up around himself. He can’t show you how deeply he cares, how much he wants to reach out and make you see him for what he truly is—just a man who’s afraid of losing something he’s never had.
He laughs, a little too loud—a little too involuntary. “I’m just a little busy, that’s all. Life’s a bit chaotic, but I’m fine. Really.”
Even so, you still don’t look convinced. And for a split second, he wonders if you’ve figured it out. If you can see the way his heart aches every time he’s near you, how badly he wishes things were different. How badly he wishes he could be the one to make you smile, make you laugh, in a way that wasn’t tainted by his unspoken feelings.
However instead, you just smile softly, a quiet understanding in your eyes. For just a moment, he thinks maybe you’ve known this whole time. Of course, he’ll never make you aware of how much that question, those few words, broke him inside. Not now. Not ever.
He can feel the cold of your engagement ring pressed against the back of his palm, looking over at you with parted lips, raised brows. Your expression is soft—too inviting. He almost can’t take it anymore.
Your entire being brings him in, wrapping around his soul like a warm blanket on a cold night. Your eyes can hold a thousand different meanings, but so can your touch. The world blurs into a fade when it’s just you and him, like it always does. He can see the fireworks, feel the softness of your skin against his.
He wants you so much.
It’s a quiet ache, a longing that starts in the pit of his stomach and spreads like wildfire, burning him from the inside out. He’s so close to you now, the air between you two charged, heavy with unsaid words and unspoken desires.
Your breath catches as you watch him, and it only makes things worse. It’s as if you’re reading him, sensing the intensity of the pull that draws him to you, even though you shouldn’t. Even though you’re promised to someone else. But for a moment, it’s just the two of you in this space, and everything else ceases to exist.
His heart races as he subconsciously leans in, just a fraction of an inch. Like a man on the edge of something dangerous, something he knows he shouldn’t want, but does anyway. His fingers twitch against your wrist, the ring there a painful reminder of the distance between what is and what could never be.
You shift slightly, a small motion, but it’s enough to send a jolt through him. You’re so close now, your warmth seeping into him, your scent intoxicating. In a single brief and fleeting instant, he wonders if you feel the same pull, if you’re as caught in the web of longing as he is.
Just then, you blink; and the spell is broken. You pull back just enough. The correct amount of room to create a sliver of space, he feels his heart sink. “I…” Your voice is barely a whisper, as if you’re struggling with the weight of the moment too. But he knows what’s coming. You always have that hesitation, that gentle reluctance when it comes to him.
He swallows, the words caught in his throat, but the truth is too painful to speak. He can’t admit how much he wants you. He can’t admit that, despite the ring on your finger, despite everything that keeps you apart, he’s falling for you in ways that have nothing to do with logic and everything to do with his heart.
“I know,” he whispers finally, his voice low, barely audible, because it’s the only thing he can say without completely shattering the fragile barrier that keeps everything in check.
When deep down, in the part of him that refuses to let go, he wishes with everything he has that you could see him. That you could feel what he feels.
That you could love him, just once, the way he loves you.
He puts on his usual smile. He knows you see through it now, but there’s no point in hiding it. There’s no point in hiding anything anymore, is there? “I know,” he repeats.
The words fall heavy between you, thick with unspoken truths, and yet, they feel like a fragile lie. He laughs again, but it’s different now. Not the carefree expression he usually wears, but one edged with something raw—something too real for either of you to ignore. He knows you see the cracks. He knows you feel the tension and the weight of everything he doesn’t say. It makes him ache in ways he can’t describe. You’ve always seen him, better than anyone else, better than he ever allowed anyone to. And even now, when the distance between you is palpable, when everything about this moment screams to turn away, neither of you can.
You’re still staring at him, your eyes warm but searching. You want more. You want to know what’s behind that smile, what’s behind the guarded words, the silence that screams louder than anything he’s ever said. You want to see through the layers, even when he’s terrified of what you might find.
Except that’s the truth of it, isn’t it? He’s terrified. Terrified of losing you, terrified of the vulnerability that comes with loving someone so completely. Terrified that you’ll slip away from him, like everyone else does.
“Satoru…” Your voice trembles slightly, hesitation lingering in the air like an uninvited guest. You want to say something, but you don’t know how. You want to reach for him, but you know the consequences. The space between you both feels endless, a chasm that neither of you can cross.
He really can’t keep pretending anymore.
His smile falters, his eyes dimming as he finally lets go of the pretense, removing the silence hanging in the air. He feels the weight of your gaze on him, steady and knowing, and something inside him breaks.
You know. You always knew.
“I don’t want to hide this anymore,” he admits quietly, his voice strained, his chest tight with the confession. It’s not a declaration of love, not yet. However, it’s the closest thing he can give you right now—the truth, raw and painful. He’s not sure what you’ll do with it, if it’ll push you further away or bring you closer, but the honesty feels both freeing and suffocating at the same time. He waits for your response, his heart hammering in his chest, terrified of the silence that follows. Because no matter what happens next, he knows that something between the two of you has irrevocably shifted. And there’s no going back.
When you look away from him, he gets his answer. With that, he laughs softly to himself in understanding. Not even needing to hear your soft words—whispered apologies. Because at the end of the day, he knew what would happen.
He’s not mad at you for it, how could he be?
You’ve always been his anchor, even if you couldn’t see it. Even if he was just the one who stood in the background, quietly waiting, hoping for a moment like this. He knew that in the end, it would never be him, and somehow, he had accepted that. But it doesn’t make the ache any less painful, the hollow feeling in his chest where something once burned bright.
You’ve always belonged to someone else.
The way you look away, the way your fingers subtly twist the fabric of your shirt as if you’re gathering the courage to speak, tells him everything. You don’t need to apologize for anything. He knows. He always has.
But it doesn’t stop the weight from pressing down on him. It doesn’t stop the way his heart cracks, just a little bit more, with every moment that stretches between you both.
He should leave. Walk away before it hurts too much. Yet something keeps him there—something that’s always kept him tethered to you, even in your silence. Once more, he chuckles quietly. The sound is bitter in the back of his throat. He puts his smile back into place, masking the storm brewing inside. “It’s okay,” he says softly, almost as if he’s reassuring himself as much as you. “I get it.”
His voice is steady, but there’s a quiver that betrays him, a flicker of pain he can’t hide. You’ll never know just how much it stings. How it feels like something vital is slipping away, piece by piece. But he won’t show you that. Not now. Not when he knows you’re already carrying your own weight.
And so, he stays. Silent, distant, as you both continue to navigate the space between what you want and what you can’t have. No matter how much it hurts, he loves you. In the quietest, most agonizing way possible. And that’s enough for him, even if it will never be enough for you.
“Just…don’t leave me.” He mutters, almost like he doesn’t want to get the words out. He’s aware of the fact that he’s pushing more than he should—biting off more than he’s being given.
You gulp, biting the inside of your cheek. A silent second passes before you nod. “I’d never let you go.”
When he’s walking back home that night, the air feels more suffocating than usual. His apartment—too big for one—is cold. Walking to his bedroom, not bothering to strip himself of his clothes as he plops down onto his bed. Staring up at the ceiling with a melancholic smile. Feeling a prickle of tears hit the corners of his eyes. They don’t fall—not yet. He swallows hard, but the lump in his throat won’t budge.
He should be happy, right? At least you didn’t leave him completely. Nonetheless, the promise in your words doesn’t feel like solace; it feels like a bandage over a wound that will never fully heal. He chortles, a hollow, bitter sound that fills the emptiness of the room.
That’s probably the nicest way he could’ve been let down. For some reason, it hurts more.
Extremely more than he thought it would. Somewhere along the lines, he may have even somehow convinced himself that maybe—just maybe—things could be different. But of course, they weren’t. They never could be. The optimism in him is dying.
The silence in his apartment is deafening, and in the quiet, his mind runs wild with every memory of you, every moment that he convinced himself meant more than it did. The way your voice eased when you spoke to him, the way your eyes lingered just a little too long. He had built up those fleeting moments into something real, something that could have existed in another life, in another world. However now, reality has slammed into him with brutal force, leaving him breathless and broken.
He curls his fingers into the sheets, his chest tightening. He wants to scream, but the words stick to the back of his throat. Instead, he lets out a long, shaky breath, the weight of everything settling deeper into his bones.
Tomorrow, he will smile again. Tomorrow, he will pretend everything is okay. So tonight, in the darkness of his room, it can just be him and the stabbing pain of unrequited love.
It’s so difficult because it’s more than he can bear. Even dreaming is not an escape from you.
He lies there for what feels like hours, staring at the ceiling, the darkness of the room closing in around him. His thoughts are a whirlwind—too much, too fast, all at once. He feels like he’s drowning in them, unable to pull himself out. He shifts uncomfortably, pulling the covers tighter around his body, as if they could shield him from the cold ache in his chest. The memory of your words, of the softness in your voice, keeps echoing in his mind: “I’d never let you go.” You hadn’t meant it the way he wanted, the way he had hoped. You had meant it in the kindest way possible, but all it did was reinforce the distance between you two. You couldn’t love him. You couldn’t be with him—not the way he needed you to be.
He tries to push away the thought, but it lingers, gnawing at him. The weight of knowing that you would never truly leave him, that you’d always be there. Still, never in the way he wanted. It cuts so much deeper than he could have imagined. It’s like a constant reminder that some things just aren’t meant to be.
A soft sigh escapes his lips, and he runs a hand over his face, his fingers pressing against his eyes. He’s tired—so tired. Not physically, but emotionally. It’s exhausting, pretending. Entirely consuming it is to feel something that can never be returned the way it’s given.
He presses the back of his palm to his nose, inhaling the faint remnants of your scent. The tears finally fall, slow and quiet at first. Soon, they’re coming harder and faster. But he doesn’t make a sound. He doesn’t want anyone to hear, not like anyone would. He doesn’t want it to be known the way his heart is shattering, piece by piece, while he lies alone in the shadows of his apartment.
For a moment, he wishes you could feel this—this ache, this longing that gnaws at him until there’s nothing left but the hollowed-out shell of someone who will never truly be enough. He wishes you could understand how it feels to love someone so deeply, to want them more than anything, and yet know that your love will never be enough.
He laughs again, a bitter, empty sound, this time not hiding it. It’s a dull laugh that tastes like defeat. He wipes at his eyes, sniffling quietly, the tears continuing to fall. Then, he forces himself to take a deep breath, to stop.
He can’t let himself drown in this. Not now.
But the truth is, he doesn’t know how much longer he can keep pretending. The weight of everything—the smiles, the casual conversations, the “I’m fine” that he spits out like it’s nothing—feels too heavy now. He wonders how long you were able to tell. If you saw through the facade when you first met him, if you noticed the cracks starting to form around him immediately. Maybe he was the oblivious one.
He tells himself over and over again: you have your own life, your own love, your own future.
He rolls onto his side, facing the wall, the emptiness of his solitude swallowing him whole. Tomorrow, he thinks to himself, I’ll wake up, and I’ll be fine. He’s done this before. Pretending, masking the pain, wearing the boyish smile he knows so well. It’s easier than facing the truth, than admitting how much it hurts.
For now, in the quiet of his apartment, the only thing he can do is let the tears fall, and let himself grieve for the love he’ll never have.
However, one day…something changes in Satoru. He doesn’t even expect it. It’s subtle at first. A shift, almost imperceptible, like the first breeze of spring after a long, bitter winter. He’s standing at the edge of the room, watching as you and Suguru stand hand in hand at the altar, your eyes locked with his in a way that is nothing short of reverent. Your smile—so soft, so full of love—shines through the quiet moment as Suguru vows to stand by you, to love you through everything. Maybe it’s the way you seem so at peace with yourself while looking his best friend in the eyes at the altar, or the way you're radiantly glowing when you two have your first dance. Or the way you still regard him with the same tenderness you did from day one.
The ache grows quieter.
As you look at him, there’s a quiet contentment that blooms in Satoru’s chest. It’s not pain, not jealousy, not longing. Just peace. Something about seeing you so at ease, so sure of yourself, brings a strange sense of clarity to his heart.
He doesn’t know what it is—perhaps it’s the way you carry yourself now, with confidence, with the kind of joy that was never there before—but he feels something relieve within him. The old throbbing pain, the one that had been gnawing at him for so long, then pauses just a bit. It’s like the final breath of a storm passing, leaving behind only calm.
Later that evening, as he watches the two of you share your first dance, something settles in his chest, something he can’t quite explain. You’re glowing under the soft lights, and the way Suguru holds you so gently, his fingers pressing into the small of your back, is enough to make Satoru’s throat tighten. There’s no regret, no bitterness. Just a quiet acceptance.
He knows, deep down, that this is your moment. And he’s finally okay with that.
Satoru’s gaze drifts to you as you laugh, your head tilting back slightly as Suguru twirls you in his arms. Your eyes meet his, just for a second, and he sees it—the same look you’ve always had for him. His eyes don’t move from you one bit throughout the night, feeling something drift into the air. His shoulders feel lighter. Now, it’s just… comfort. A quiet, steady beat that comes from knowing he’s been a part of something meaningful in your life, even if it wasn’t meant to be forever.
He smiles to himself, the ghost of his old longing fading into the background. For the first time in a long time, Satoru feels like he’s no longer holding onto something that’s slipping through his fingers. The pieces have finally clicked into place. So, in that moment, he realizes something he hadn’t anticipated.
He’s free.
As the night winds down, and the last few guests start to trickle out, Satoru stays behind, quietly watching the empty dance floor. The lights are dimmed, the music faded, but the feeling of the day still lingers in the air. He knows that things have changed for him—deeply, irrevocably.
It’s not that he’s given up on love. Not at all. But something in him has shifted. It could be that his understanding is that love isn’t always about holding onto someone forever. Sometimes, it’s about letting them go—allowing them to find their happiness in their own way, even if it’s not with you.
You and Suguru have your own story now, and Satoru is finally okay with that. In fact, he’s grateful for it. Because without your happiness, without you finding peace with him, he never would have found peace with himself.
He takes a deep breath, feeling the weight of it all—of everything that’s passed, of everything that’s been said and unsaid—and it’s fine. It’s more than fine. He’s not angry. He’s not resentful. He’s content.
And that’s enough.
The days that follow are gentle. There’s no rush or no pressure. Satoru slowly moves forward with his life, embracing the little things—his work, his friendships, his quiet moments. There’s a stillness in him that wasn’t there before. The pain that had consumed him for so long doesn’t disappear completely, but it becomes more manageable. More bearable.
Of course, maybe one day, in another place, with another person, there will be a love that’s his to hold onto. But for now, he’s happy with this. He’s happy with letting go—with moving forward. Because in the end, he’s learned that love doesn’t always look the way you expect. It isn’t always a fairy tale. Sometimes, it’s just a silent acceptance, a letting go, and knowing that everything will be okay in the end.
For the first time in a long time, Satoru believes that.
Finally, he just sees you. Someone’s wife.
Satoru stands there for a moment, taking in the sight of you. The woman he once loved, now married to someone else. The years have passed, but you’re still the same in the most beautiful ways. Your smile is just as bright, and the warmth in your eyes is still the same, no matter how much time has passed.
“How are you?” he asks, his voice soft, a little hesitant. It’s been a few years since he last saw you at your wedding to Suguru. He assumed, with time, that he would somehow grow less attracted to you. Less drawn to your presence, your laughter, and the way you seem to light up the world just by being in it.
How wrong he was.
You meet his gaze, and Satoru feels that familiar flutter in his chest, something he thought had long since faded. You haven’t changed. He’s never been able to forget the way you made him feel. The truth is, he probably never will. “I’m great,” you reply wholeheartedly, your smile so genuine it catches him off guard. The apples of your cheeks rise, and he can’t help but notice how much more beautiful you’ve become. There’s a glow about you, one that comes from happiness and contentment. The familiar glint in your eyes beams brighter than he’s ever seen before. It’s the same one that once made him think maybe he could be the one to make you smile like that forever.
Prettier than any star.
“Things have been well,” you continue, a slight tilt of your head as you study him. “How are you?”
Satoru swallows, his heart hammering in his chest, but he smiles. He’s not sure why it still affects him this way. Maybe it’s because he knows you’re happy, and that should be enough for him. But hearing you speak with that warmth, that sweetness, it still stirs something deep within him. “I’m good,” he says, his voice steady despite the chaos of emotions swirling inside him. He wants to tell you everything he wasn’t able to before—how much he’s missed you, how much he’s struggled to let go, how he’s still a little haunted by your absence. But he can’t. You’re someone else’s now. His best friend’s. And he can’t take that from you. He doesn’t want to, either.
“Life’s… busy,” he adds, trying to change the subject, but he knows the words are empty. He’s never been able to lie to you. You always see through it.
You nod, as if understanding more than he’s said. The silence between you stretches, but it’s not awkward. It’s familiar in a way that brings him a strange sense of comfort. You’ve both come so far, yet here you are, still standing before him.
Satoru wants to say something—anything—that will make this moment last. Yet, he knows better now. He knows that some things are meant to pass, to be remembered only as bittersweet memories. “I’m happy for you,” he finally says, his voice quieter than before. His eyes meet yours, searching for any sign that maybe, just maybe, you might feel something too.
And there it is. A flicker. A brief, imperceptible flicker in your eyes. You’re still the same woman he once knew, the one who captured his heart and never quite let it go.
He doesn’t need to hear you say it. He can see it in the way you look at him. You’ve both changed, in ways that neither of you could have predicted. Really, that’s okay. You’re happy, and that’s all that matters.
“I’m glad to see you doing well, Satoru,” you say with that same warm smile. “Take care of yourself, okay?” The weight of the unspoken words lingers between you, yet it’s not painful. Not anymore. Satoru nods, his own smile genuine, even if it’s laced with sadness. He doesn’t need to hold onto the past anymore. You’ve found your place in the world, and he’s finally at peace with that.
“I will,” he says quietly. “You too.”
Staying in your presence feels nice, no words having to be spoken when your actions do it all. Fleeting looks, warm smiles, hushed chuckles. He can’t stop his body from reciprocating. Every time your fingers brush against his by accident, a jolt of electricity runs through him. When your voice dances in the air, light and carefree, it takes every ounce of control he has not to reach out and pull you closer into a hug. Your presence is a kind of calm he didn’t know he needed, a peace he’s been missing, even after all these years.
He’s missed you. That’s okay to admit, right?
“Are you with someone now, Satoru?” You ask, sipping your coffee with an innocent eyebrow raise.
He shakes you off with a chuckle. “Nah, no one. I’m a lone wolf, remember?”
Playfully, you roll your eyes. “Right. Well, every lone wolf needs his mate, doesn’t he?”
“Please don’t use ABO logic on me.”
You kick his shin under the table and he dramatically responds with a frown. Looking at him from the large window that displays the warm morning of Saturday. Speaking with such integrity that it’s hard not to believe you. “I’m serious, Satoru. When it happens, I want to be there for you. Your soulmate is just walking around everyday life waiting for you, I look forward to you finally getting to experience that.”
His heart melts, smirk softening into genuineness. He can’t find it in him to say how wrong you probably are, to crush your dreams of him finding his one true love one day. How could he? You just want what’s best for him, and that’s why he loves you so much.
“Soulmate…” he repeats to himself lowly, watching you laugh gingerly before looking back out at the window. His eyes glance down at his left pinky finger, flexing it.
Red string of fate.
He can imagine the circle around his pinky, red and bright with intensity; glowing like a beacon of everything he’s always wanted and dreamed for. He looks back up at you, your side profile so perfectly structured in the warm light. The way your features align effortlessly like they were meant to be there. He can’t help the crinkle of his eyes when his smile grows wider and more genuine. The time he spent longing for you, it all seems to fade away when he looks at you like this. He lightly jerks his hand.
And for a brief, suspended moment, he catches the sight of your left pinky twitching, being tugged just barely in his direction before you adjust your grip on your coffee.
He follows your gaze, hiding a snicker behind the rim of his cup.
Yeah, she is just walking around, isn’t she?

The Wolves
Pairing: Mob Boss Azriel x Secretary Reader
Summary: As requested, the sequel to To Love a Beast! Reader and Azriel are figuring out how to navigate their new lives together, but disaster strikes when the wrong person finds out about them being together.
Warnings: light smut, kidnapping (not graphic)
Word Count: 2.1k
Azriel let himself into your apartment as you were making dinner. He smirked at you, leaning down to kiss your cheek, and handing you a paper shopping bag with a mischievous glint in his eye.
“What’s this?” you laughed, setting down your wooden spoon and putting the cover on your pan of food on the stove.
“Open it,” he smiled, shrugging off his jacket and hanging it on the back of a chair.
He watched your face intently, his heart warming, his excitement growing as you reached into the bag and pulled out a pair of lacy black panties.
You grinned, your smile lighting up your whole face. “You really did get me new ones.”
“I owed you, several times over,” he said, wrapping his arms around your waist from behind. “There’s more in there, you know.”
You laughed as you pulled out several more, all different colors and styles. “You didn’t need to get me this much, Az!”
He shrugged, kissing down your neck, “I want to spoil you. Plus, this way, I won’t feel bad when I keep ripping them off you.”
You leaned into him, your head falling back against his chest. “You’re ridiculous,” you teased.
Az kissed your forehead and watched your nose crinkle as you smiled. Fuck, how had you turned him into such a softie?
His hands slid from your stomach down your sides suggestively.
“Dinner’s ready in a few minutes,” you scolded him gently.
“We can get a lot done in a few minutes,” Azriel murmured, his voice low, his lips brushing your ear.
You made that little noise from the back of your throat that meant you wanted him, and he was about to pick you up and settle you on the counter when your timer went off. You pulled away from him to turn it off and started dishing out pasta for the both of you.
Raising your eyebrow at him playfully, you handed him the plate and sat down at the table. He kissed you on the head again before he sat down across from you, “Thanks for dinner, babe.”
“Mmhmm,” you said happily around your fork.
He smiled as he watched you, his fingers itching to get back on you.
But then his phone rang.
You both groaned, and he watched your face fall as he fished his phone out of his pocket.
“Yeah?” he said in greeting.
“We need you out here, boss. We’ve gotten into a bit of a… situation.”
He rolled his eyes, his eyes softening in apology as he looked at you, who had so sweetly made dinner for him.
“On my way,” he said, and hung up, already moving towards you, kissing you. “I’m sorry,” he said to you.
“It’s okay. Just get back safe,” you said sadly, your eyes shining with love as you watched him go.
“Promise,” he said, shrugging back into his jacket.
And then he was gone.
---
You sighed, pushing the pasta around your plate in your silent apartment. Your heart hurt every time he left, every time he put himself in danger for the Family.
The two of you were still a secret, and you couldn’t help but be hurt by that. You loved him, you knew. It seemed like he loved you, too, but how could you be sure, when he was unwilling to tell anyone about you?
You understood, of course. It was dangerous, having a weakness. And you knew you certainly had become a weakness for Azriel.
He didn’t want anyone to be able to put you in danger for leverage against him, and you appreciated it, of course you did. But you hated having to hide your affection for him at work, sick of sneaking around all day and all night.
But, what could you do?
Anxiously, you waited for hours, finally tucking yourself into bed and waiting for Azriel to return.
---
It was completely dark by the time Azriel had cleaned up the situation and made his way back to you. He was exhausted, starving, and pissed that his evening with you had been ruined.
He let himself into your apartment, and his heart warmed when he saw you had left a plate out for him. He heated up the food and ate quickly before quietly going into your room, stripping down to his underwear, and sliding into bed beside you.
You let out a little noise as you woke up, molding your body against his, wrapping your arms around him. “Everything okay?”
“It is now,” he said quietly, brushing a strand of hair back from your face.
“You’re in one piece?” you asked, your voice laced with sleep.
“Pretty sure,” he teased.
Satisfied, you snuggled into him, and his hand slowly wandered down to squeeze your ass. He smirked when he realized you were wearing a pair of the new panties under your t-shirt.
You let out a quiet moan, leaning your head back to expose your neck to him.
Without wasting any time, he dipped his head, sensuously kissing your neck as your hand wandered down, cupping him outside of his boxers.
He had to bite back a groan. Nobody had ever affected him the way you do. He pulled your shirt up over your head, his mouth trailing down your chest, his teeth scraping your nipple playfully. You arched your back to get closer to him, and he couldn’t imagine being happier as the two of you moved together, reading each other’s bodies perfectly.
Azriel hoped he would always feel like this.
Azriel felt your eyes on him as he moved around the office, giving orders, sending people out to do the Family’s bidding.
When everyone else had gone, he sidled up behind you, gently massaging your shoulders and pressing a kiss to your cheek.
You leaned into his touch, but somewhat reluctantly. “Careful, you wouldn’t want anyone to see,” you said with a hint of sarcasm.
He pulled back, looking at you questioningly. “You okay?”
Shrugging your shoulders slightly and sitting up straighter so his hands would fall away, you nodded. “Yep.”
“Babe-”
“You should go,” you cut him off. “You have work to do.”
He rounded the desk to face you, resting his palms on the desk, leaning down to meet your eyes. “What’s going on?”
Sighing, you said, “I’m just sick of hiding us.”
He hadn’t even known this had been on your mind. “You know why we have to keep it a secret,” he said gently. “It’s dangerous, sweetheart. If anyone knew, you would immediately become a target. The wolves will come for you.”
“If your enemies knew,” you corrected. “You don’t trust your own men?”
“I don’t fully trust anyone but you,” he said truthfully. “Information can easily slip unintentionally, or be beaten out of people. You know that.”
Closing your eyes, you took a deep breath. He gently ran his thumb along your cheekbone. “I’m sorry,” he said. “I really am. But I won’t risk you.”
Your eyes were sad when you opened them, but you nodded bravely. “I know.”
His hand was still on your cheek when the door opened. He stood up abruptly and turned around to face it.
It was one of his men, of course, Jason, looking slightly surprised. Azriel smoothly took a step toward him. “What is it?”
Azriel barely heard his request for help, couldn’t see past the curious expression he wore when Azriel spun around. He had seen Azriel’s hand on your face, had seen how intimate the gesture was.
He knew.
Azriel didn’t leave Jason’s side that day. He was trying to decide if he should mention what he had seen, if he should try to explain himself. Or if he should just leave it alone.
Jason himself didn’t mention it.
It worried Azriel. Jason could be a bit of a wildcard. He was honestly the last person Azriel would choose to know about his feelings for you. But talking about it could make everything so much worse.
He cursed himself for being so careless, and hoped against hope that he was doing the right thing.
---
Days later, you anxiously waited for Azriel to show up at your apartment. He had been on edge ever since Jason had walked in on the two of you in the office. You honestly weren’t entirely convinced that he had even seen anything, but you knew that Azriel was extremely worried about it.
You checked your phone for the time. Azriel should have been here by now, but it wasn’t too unusual for him to get caught up in something before he could make it to you.
When the door opened, your heart leaped in excitement.
But it quickly fell into your stomach as you realized with a start that it wasn’t Azriel who had burst through your apartment.
---
Azriel was not having a good day. Due to Jason’s incompetence, he had been running around the city all day trying to prevent an even bigger mess.
He couldn’t wait to have a quiet night in with you and temporarily forget about all of his problems.
The hair on the back of his neck rose in trepidation as he stepped into your empty apartment. It wasn’t like you to be out when you knew he was coming over.
Within a few moments of entering, he spotted your purse on the kitchen counter, your phone on the couch, and knew that something was horribly wrong.
He had been in the business for a long time, had obviously been angry many times, but he had never felt rage and panic quite like this before.
Immediately, he was out the door, on the phone. He knew exactly what was happening. He knew exactly who was to blame.
“What the fuck did you do?” he barked over the phone.
Jason had the audacity to act confused, bumbling out a useless response that Azriel had no time for.
“She’s gone, do you understand?” Azriel shouted over him. “Who did you tell?”
Azriel’s hands were shaking, but he couldn’t stop them. As soon as Jason answered, he hung up, going as fast as his car would take him.
---
Your heart hammered in your ears, the cloth in your mouth silencing you was becoming uncomfortable, the zip ties holding your hands behind your back digging into your skin. Despite this, you tried to stay calm. You knew Azriel would be coming over tonight. He would come for you, you knew he would.
The timing though, you hoped he would get right.
Holding your head high, you were thankful that you didn’t have to wait long until Azriel burst through the door, his nostrils flared, the veins in his neck pulsing, his eyes flooding with relief as his eyes landed on you.
You shut your eyes as Azriel took down the man who had taken you.
It was really only a matter of moments before Azriel’s hands were gently pulling the cloth out of your mouth.
“Are you hurt?” he asked, his eyes raking your body, looking for any injuries.
You shook your head, finding yourself unable to speak, willing yourself to keep the tears at bay.
“Oh god I’m so sorry,” he said, his voice wavering as he gently cut the ties holding back your hands. “I’m so sorry.”
Again, you were shaking your head, willing him to understand that it wasn’t him, that you didn’t blame him for a second.
Quickly, he wrapped his arms around you and ushered you out of the building. You were thankful he was holding most of your weight, as you still felt numb.
You had never seen Azriel like that, had never seen him so full of fear. You hoped you would never see it again.
---
Azriel was thankful when your breathing had become deeper and you had finally fallen asleep in his arms.
It had taken a long time for you to settle down, for your body to stop shaking.
He was so thankful that he had gotten to you in time, that nothing worse had happened. He would deal with Jason in the morning, but for now, he was glad that he had you here with him, that you were safe.
For now, it would have to be enough.

Spencer Reid x fem!reader - Undercover with your ex boyfriend
cw: suggestive, age gap, a gun is shot, a lil angst?
wc: 2.9k
a/n: this took sooo long and idk what to think of it, but it's something!!
As you stood outside the club, arms linked with Spencer Reid – your coworker and ex boyfriend – you wondered how exactly you ended up here. None of this would have happened if Prentiss knew about your history. Keeping your relationship, and the end of it, a secret had seemed like a good idea at the time, and had been going well until earlier that day. Prentiss calling you and Spencer into her office had already been unexpected, but being assigned with an undercover mission, as a couple, was enough to shock you into silence for a moment. Still, no amount of shock could have kept you from fighting Spencer when he argued against you being undercover with him. You were perfectly capable of doing your job, Prentiss knew that, Spencer knew that, and he would pay.
“We watch him from the bar, put on a show until he notices us, then we walk out and hope he takes the bait. Okay?” You were so caught up in your thoughts that it took a second for the sound of his voice register. What didn’t need time to sink in was the feeling of his breath, hot on your skin.
“I know the plan.” You rolled your eyes, tensing as he slipped his arm out of yours, wrapping it around your waist, fingers toying with the hem of your shirt, “Dick.”
“Time to head inside. Remember, this unsub needs more from a couple than just a younger woman, he needs you to be physically affectionate.” The disembodied voice of your Unit Chief filled your ears, and Spencer gave you a look that had to be designed entirely to piss you off. It was working.
“We can do that, Prentiss.” Spencer said, the smile barely hidden in his voice, his thumb rubbing over one of your ribs.
“Let’s go.” You stepped out of his reach, grabbing his hand and dragging him with you into the club. The moment you were inside he pulled you closer to him, keeping you glued to his side as he steered you towards the bar. The way he took charge of the situation shouldn’t have been nearly as attractive as it was, a cruel reminder of what you had been. The awkward, nerdy Spencer Reid was gone, replaced by a version that even you had only seen a few times. It was a side of him that only came out on days – well, nights – when he needed to take control after a bad day.
Or, apparently, whenever he wanted it to.
As you sat at the bar, he seemed to decide the small gap the stools put between you was too much, shuffling to the edge of his and leaning in as far as he could. It was a precarious position, and if you hadn’t been undercover, you would have given him a shove and watched him scramble for the seat. That was what you would have done a few months ago, and he would have scowled, and you would have laughed until his pride gave up and he joined in. Instead, you mirrored him, leaning in until you could hear his hushed words in your ear.
“Can you see him?” You pulled back a bit, giving yourself a wider view of the crowded room as you searched for the suspect. Not that he was really a ‘suspect’ anymore, the profile and every single piece of evidence pointed to him. All that was left for you to do was get him out of the club and into a location where he would be of no danger to the public when your team apprehended him.
And you would, because there he was, near the wall at the back of the room, concealed in the crowd. Your eyes flashed back to Spencer’s immediately, you couldn’t risk blowing your cover because the unsub caught you staring.
“In the corner of the room, to your left.”
“Well then,” The momentary professionalism was gone from his voice, replaced by that infuriating, seductive, punchable smugness, “I guess all we have left to do is wait.”
Waiting was the last thing either of you would be doing. An unsub like this needed to be constantly entertained, like a cat distracted by the nearest movement. The job was to draw and keep his attention, and to be honest, that was the last thing you wanted to do with Spencer. It was also the only thing you had ever wanted in your entire life, which was why you were not giving your hormones an ounce of attention.
“Okay, but right now he hasn’t looked our way once, so either we get moving, or we might as well pack up and leave.” You hissed under your breath, the tone of your voice harsher than you had intended.
“He's not going to take the bait if you keep glaring at me like that, we're supposed to be a couple, remember?” He might have been the most infuriating person whose presence you had ever been subjected to, but he was right. You contorted your face into a smile, waving the bartender over and ordering the first non alcoholic drink that came to mind.
“I really don't like you, you know that right?” You ran your hand over his chest, fingers toying with the collar of his shirt.
“I know.”
You didn’t respond, opting instead to take a small sip from your glass, carefully ignoring the man beside you. Everything these days had to be careful. Answering the team's questions as to why you two had gone from best friends to barely talking, avoiding all of your old haunts, prying the remnants of him out of your life. You were tired of it.
“So, how are we supposed to draw his attention?” You sighed, placing your drink down as you glanced at the unsub, not at all surprised to see him looking in the opposite direction to the two of you.
“Come here.” He wasn’t even looking at you as he tapped his thigh, barely sparing you an ounce of his attention as he looked around the room.
“Fuck you.”
“That was my plan B.” If you weren’t already rolling your eyes, you would have then. Still, there was something about hearing the immature, juvenile jabs from Spencer Reid, the man who was known for his grasp of language that was almost – almost – endearing.
“You’re disgusting.”
“You’re still sitting on your stool.”
“I’m not going to sit anywhere else.” You flinched when you felt his hands make contact with your waist.
“And how do you expect the unsub to target us when you won’t let me touch you?”
“Fine.” You slid off the seat, allowing his hands on your waist to help pull you up the extra distance, bringing you to perch on his lap. It made it worse that you had to face him to keep eyes on the unsub, meaning that your lips were only a few inches apart.
“How easy was that?”
“I don’t care about this,” you gestured to the space—or lack thereof—between you, “I care about how smug you’re being.”
“Why?”
“Because you didn't want me here in the first place, and now you're trying to punish me in some weird, sick game of yours.”
“I'm not trying to punish you, and the only reason I didn’t want you here was how dangerous this is.” You tried to focus on the anger you felt at him thinking you couldn’t handle yourself, rather than the part of you that revelled in how protective he could be.
“Then why have you been like this all night? All annoying and flirty?”
“I'm not sure about the annoying part, but do you expect me not to flirt with the beautiful woman on my arm?” He took a glance at where you were perched on his knee before correcting himself, “In my lap?”
You weren't sure how you were planning on responding to him, but luckily you didn't have to, catching the unsub’s gaze on the two of you out of the corner of your eye. He seemed mildly interested, not overly intrigued by the display, but enough to have marked you down as a possibility.
“He's looking at us.” You murmured to Spencer, resting your head on his shoulder, the position designed to force you to keep your eyes off the unsub, no matter how tempting it was to steal a glance.
“When you’re sure you have his attention, walk out and go to the alley behind the building.” Emily’s voice in your ear felt like a slap to the face, a nice reminder that you and Spencer were under constant surveillance, and that you were at risk of a stern conversation after this was over. Inappropriate workplace conduct, probably. You mentally thanked Garcia and Morgan for greasing the wheels.
“Yes, ma’am.”
A jolt ran through you when Spencer’s fingers dug into the flesh of your thigh, the sensation so deeply entwined with good memories that it was almost nostalgic. You ran a hand down his arm slowly, almost sensually, a romantic gesture to anyone that saw, unaware of the subtle pinch you gave his wrist. You held back a snicker when he hissed under his breath and loosened his harsh grip, but refused to move his hand from its new resting place.
“What was that for?” His voice went all high pitched and whiny, the cute annoying way that it always did when he complained.
“Don’t act dumb, Spence, it doesn’t suit you.” The nickname slipped out absentmindedly, it didn’t cross your mind that you hadn’t even called him by anything but his last name in months. His breath hitched, and you lifted your head from his shoulder to see what was going on, to make sure that he was okay.
Your heart skipped a beat when you saw him, slack jawed and gazing at you like you were the only being in the universe. It was the way he used to look at you when you were curled up on his couch, when you were writhing underneath him, when he whispered ‘good morning’ with a soft kiss to your shoulder. When you were his. It might as well have been another one of his miraculous magic tricks, the way it made every sane thought in your head disappear.
Which was probably why you made no move to stop him when his lips crashed into yours, hands cupping your cheeks with a familiar intensity. You melted into his touch, almost forgetting why you were there in the first place. Your hands roamed all over him, frustrated at the inability to be everywhere at once, eventually settling for tangling in his hair. A small cough from the bartender separated you, Spencer holding your bottom lip for a moment too long as he pulled back. It was hard to tell how long the kiss lasted, only that you were so oxygen deprived by the end of it that your head spun. Or that was just a side effect of him. Probably.
Reality sunk in, and you couldn’t bring yourself to meet Spencer’s eyes again, keeping your focus on his messier-than-usual hair. That you had caused.
Fuck.
“That was…” His breathless voice was almost too much, like he had just come up for air after being underwater.
“Nothing, Reid.” If he had been holding his breath, you had been drowning.
“Say it again,” He tilted your head with the hands that were still holding your face like it was made of porcelain, forcing you to meet his gaze. Dark eyes bore into your own as you let go of his hair, hands falling numbly to your sides, “my name.”
“We’re at work.”
Although the reminder had been intended for him, saying the words prompted you to direct your focus back to the case. You glanced subtly in the direction of the unsub, hoping to find him fixated on your display, only to discover that he wasn’t there. Panic rose in your chest at the thought your momentary distraction had allowed him to get away, follow some other couple out. If new victims popped up the next day it would be your fault.
And then you saw him, significantly closer with his eyes locked on you both, and you were sure that you had never been so relieved to be the target of a serial killer. Unfortunately, he wasn’t caught yet, and it was still up to you and Spencer to lure him out of there. Which meant more touching, more talking, more him.
“Baby, let’s get out of here.” You made sure to speak loud enough for the unsub to hear, and gave the bartender a look of annoyance, as if he was being an imposition by asking you to not rip the clothes off of each other in public. You might have felt a bit guilty if lives weren’t at stake.
Spencer nodded, keeping his hands firmly on your waist even after he had helped you get down from his lap. He leant down to press another kiss to your lips, and you forced yourself to keep your head on straight, giggling as he pulled back, chasing his lips playfully. Up on your tiptoes, you kissed his jaw lightly. The whole walk out of the club was spent all over each other, like you couldn’t get enough, one of you was always touching the other.
As you meandered onto the street, you spotted a statue of a little cherub angel, saying something cheesy and romantic. Spencer leaned down, breath hot on your ear as he whispered in an exaggerated sensual tone, “Don’t even blink. Blink and you’re dead. They’re fast, faster than you could believe.”
That time, you couldn’t tell yourself the laugh that fell from your lips wasn’t real, it was so Spencer to make a joke about Doctor Who while you were actively being stalked by a serial killer. You took advantage of his proximity to pull him into another kiss, stumbling into the alley where the ambush was to take place. He pushed you against the wall, peppering your face and neck with kisses, his hands gripping your hips tight enough to bruise. You heard a shuffle in the alley, the cock of a gun, and the rest was a blur as the two of you were knocked to the ground, just as a gunshot rang out.
.*☆¸•
When everything was over, when the unsub had been apprehended and the team was back at the local police station, you couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed. Not that the unsub had been caught, of course, but at the fact that was most definitely the last time you would get to touch Spencer like that.
You hadn’t expected him to show up at the door of your hotel room at two in the morning, about an hour after you had made it back from the police station.
“What are you doing here.” It wasn’t a question, it was a polite way of telling him to go away before you did something stupid, like slap him. Or kiss him. Or both.
“I can’t stop thinking about you.” He ran a hand through his already dishevelled hair as he stepped forwards, the fire with which he looked at you bordering on a glare. Every second he spent in the room with you was clouding your thoughts, at least the sensible ones that were reminding you of every reason why you shouldn’t just drag him over to the ran through hotel bed.
“Get out.”
“Tell me that it wasn’t real.” In a few short steps he was standing right before you—fuck, his legs were long, which shouldn’t have been as hot as it was—with those brown eyes staring into your soul.
“You know I can’t.” You wished you had more control over what you said, and you wished that he had more self restraint when it came to his actions.
Neither of you did, however, and you had always been weak when it came to him, too weak to care when he leant down and pressed his lips to yours. It wasn’t soft, it was restrained, as if it was taking everything in him to hold back. You didn’t want him to hold back, even if it was out of respect for you, impatience was your vice. Grabbing the collar of his stupidly sexy sleep shirt, you pulled him in deeper, hoping the sensation of his tongue could lick away the bitter taste in your mouth.
This time, when you separated, he was the one to pull back, his breathing heavy and a feral glint in his eyes that were otherwise filled with sorrow.
“I’m sorry.” Neither of you needed to clarify what he was referring to, and neither of you wanted to. The few months after he was released from prison were Hell for both of you, for entirely different reasons.
“I don’t care about that, we’re okay.” It was only half a lie, murmured against his neck as you pressed desperate, sloppy kisses to his skin. Of course you cared, but that care was being swiftly overridden by much more single-minded feelings. You weren’t okay, but maybe you could be.
He looked right through you in that way only Spencer Reid ever could, and he knew just as well as you did that you were lying. You both needed to talk, and you would, at least that’s what you told yourselves.
Not that night, though.

tomboy!reader shows skater!chris her vinyl collection for the first time
it was no secret music was something you were passionate about. whether that be cd’s or your phone—you always had your headphones with you, or on you.
the one thing you were most passionate about and cherished the most, was your vinyl collection. you’d spent years collecting them—it was something you absolutely loved.
they decorated a wall in your room, placed on the bookshelf below them—they were everywhere.
but you hadn’t flaunted them off to anyone before, not until now. you weren’t one for people being in your personal space, preferring to be alone. but chris—chris—was someone you didn’t mind the thought of being in your room, in your personal space.
“you have a lot of vinyls holy shit..” chris mutters as he steps into your room—the discs being the first thing his blue eyes land on. he looked stunned, setting his board against your wall as he wandered over to your shelf.
“ah ah! don’t touch ‘em!” you say quickly as you saw his hand come out to grab at one of your billie vinyls. his hand quickly retracted, head whipping around as wide eyes stare at you. your feet carried you to where he was, putting your arm in front of him. “i don’t want them broken..” you mumbled.
“sorry—they just look really cool. i’ve never seen so many in one place before.” he says, eyes flitting back to your many vinyls. you took a deep breath, letting your eyes look to your record player before moving back to him. “you..do you want to try one out? just—just one.”
his eyes lit up, nodding his head slowly. you let your arm drop, gesturing toward the shelf. he was quick, hands setting out to grab an arctic monkeys vinyl. he turned to you, holding it out, smiling softly. you grinned, “s’this the one you want?”
“yeah.” and you smiled, pushing it back toward him. “well then, put it on the record player.” you say, reaching your hand out to open the lid to the player. carefully he slid the disc out of the thing it was in, setting it down carefully as you flicked the player on.
he looked back at you after setting the record down, “er—i don’t really…” he trailed off, and you chuckled. “don’t worry, i’ll show you.” gently you grabbed his hand, bringing it to hover over the needle before maneuvering his hand to push the needle until it hovered over the edge of the disc. you pulled his hand back, pulling the little lever to lower the needle down, the soft static filling the room before the music started to play.
instantly, you both started to bob your heads to the music—saying slightly. you looked to the side at him, “i hope you know this is probably a one time thing.” you clarified. and he nodded.
“yeah..but it was so worth it. thank you for trusting me enough with them.” you smiled, bringing your arms up to rest around him.
“anytime.”

walking away with your kiss on my cheek...
your relationship with theo starts to sour as you begin to suspect him of keeping secrets from you (theo nott x reader)
a/n - first part of a two-shot I've written! Ngl this thing has gone through wayyy too many drafts and revisions so it’s barely an u healthy relationship, more like unhealthy coping mechanisms, but I have a couple of slightly more intense takes on the trope lined up as well :)
tropes/warnings - mildly (veryyy mildly) toxic/unhealthy relationship descriptions, established relationship, mentions of infidelity, miscommunication, angst
word count - 1.9k
When it came to love languages, Theodore Nott’s was distance. Many of his past relationships had failed once he'd deemed them too suffocating. Nobody had suited him quite like you did. The two of you had somehow stumbled into a mutual understanding of what you wanted out of a relationship. Some considered what you shared too casual to be considered a relationship. You had your separate schedules and commitments, and in your downtime, you kept one another company.
But it worked for the two of you. The best relationships are built between people on the same page, and your perfectly aligned perspectives made the little time you spent together that much sweeter. In fact, things had been going along swimmingly until Katherine entered the picture.
She, or at least the idea of her, entered your life one foggy morning. You were dead on your feet. The aconite you had been tending to as part of your Herbology project demanded your every waking moment outside of your classes. You were just about to fall asleep into your soft-looking, pillowy scrambled eggs when Ivy half-yelled into your ear, as she was prone to doing.
"Didn't know Theo got a new girlfriend!"
Your head snapped up and you groaned. Okay, maybe she wasn't yelling as much as everything sounded ten times louder with that throbbing behind your right temple. You blinked blearily at your friend.
"Huh?"
"Someone's been spending an awful lot of time with Katherine."
It took you a moment to register that you had no idea who Ivy was talking about.
"Katherine Sawyer," she repeated. "Theo's been getting pretty cosy with her, hasn't he?"
Something must have shown on your face, because she immediately dropped the suggestive lilt to her voice.
"I mean - I'm only kidding. It's just that I saw them in the library again last night for, like, the third time this week. I thought you knew." She peered closer at your dark eye bags. "Damn. Are you getting any sleep?"
You shook yourself out of the shock and gave a small smile. "Of course I knew," you lied. If being with Theo had taught you anything, it was how to lie convincingly. "I'm exhausted, that's all."
"Yeah, you look it," Ivy agreed sympathetically. "But really, I was kidding. It's not like he'd do anything. Not Theo."
"Right." You smoothly changed the subject. "So how's your project coming along?"
Still, it bothered you for the rest of the day. Why hadn't he told you about Katherine? He knew you weren't the jealous type, especially when it came to perfectly innocent interactions with the opposite sex. Unless there was a reason for him to keep it from you. You had thought that neither of you was the type to keep secrets from the other, but maybe you had thought wrong. And if he hadn't told you about Katherine, well, what else was he not telling you about?
You dismissed the thought. You were too sleep-deprived for this. It just wasn't like him. Theo would never pursue another girl, not while he already had one on his arm.
Right?
These thoughts were still circulating in your head when you found him reading in the Slytherin common room that evening. You approached him as you always did, but something about what Ivy had said that morning made you hesitate. He didn't look up from his well-worn copy of The Divine Comedy in the original Italian until he felt you sink into the couch beside him. He gave you a strange look before pulling you into his lap, nestling his head in the crook of your neck, the way the two of you usually curled up together when one of you was reading.
"Don't be going shy on me now," he teased lightly. You shushed him, tapping the paperback. As you settled your head on his shoulder, he glanced at your face. "You look tired," he noted quietly. You pulled a face.
"Who knew aconite could be such a bitch?"
Theo turned the page. "I knew. I'd say I told you so, but - ow."
You had sharply tugged at the short hairs at the nape of his neck as a warning. You laughed softly as you ran a soothing thumb over the mildly irritated skin, kissing it better. It was moments like these that made it difficult to harbor any sort of suspicion or resentment towards your boyfriend. As moody and mysterious as he liked to come off, to you he was an open book.
But he still hadn't told you about Katherine.
A few weeks later, Theo and a few others were about to leave for a two-week cultural exchange trip to Durmstrang's. Ivy had dragged you down to the Great Hall where everyone was saying their goodbyes, before disappearing into the crowd in search of Ivan.
Somewhat reluctantly, you walked up to your own boyfriend. Between his trip preparations and your Herbology project, the two of you hadn’t had a minute together for the past week and a half, a new record, even for a relationship as casual as yours.
“Got everything?”
Theo nodded. In his soft, fitted navy blue sweatshirt pushed halfway up his forearms, he looked effortlessly put together. You weren’t scruffy yourself, either. That was why you had any kind of relationship at all, wasn’t it? The two of you made an attractive couple, at least when you acted like one.
You looked over at Ivy, whose boyfriend was humoring a much sappier farewell than yours and Theo's. Scratch that, Ivan lived for Ivy's oddities and eccentricities. Right now, Ivy was kicking a fuss over a fortnight being simply too long of a time to be apart while Ivan promised to call every single night. Occasionally, you had wondered what it would feel like to be in a relationship like theirs, where two weeks apart would be nothing short of agony rather than routine.
As you turned back, you noticed Theo had been following your gaze. He cleared his throat delicately.
"So...two weeks."
"Mhm." You weren't the type of couple to explicitly express affection, especially of the vulnerable kind. You'd miss him, of course, even if you didn't say it. Would he miss you? You shook your head internally. No, you decided, you wouldn't ask. You'd only seem clingy and that wasn't the kind of couple you were. "Be good, have fun."
He adjusted the strap of his duffle bag. You fixed the collar of his jacket. You wondered if he'd tell you about Katherine before he left. From somewhere else in the Great Hall, one of his friends called him over. He pressed a final chaste kiss to your cheek. You watched him walk away with a hollow sort of feeling in your stomach. Merlin forbid you express any kind of attachment to your boyfriend.
He glanced back at you one last time, fidgeting with the strap of his bag, and just like that, he was gone.
Gone.
He didn't say a word about Katherine.
As the two weeks crawled by achingly slow, you tried to convince yourself that you didn't feel the lack of Theo. You had gone longer without talking to him. Hell, before you started dating, you'd only occasionally meet through mutual friends.
But you had never spent time apart feeling this acrid bitterness towards him.
Unbeknownst to you, your friends had picked up on your frutration, especially in the way you had thrown yourself into your work with renewed vigour, doing your best to keep conversations from straying to topics related to Theo.
"I'm going to the owlery to check for letters from Ivan," Ivy was saying one evening, pulling a woollen hat onto her head. "Wanna come with?"
You barely spared her a glance, writing carefully. "Can't. I have this essay to finish."
Ivy deflated visibly. "Don't you want to see if you have anything from Theo?”
You shrugged. You couldn’t be disappointed if you didn’t expect anything.
“Have you heard from him at all?” Ivy pressed.
You gave her a warning look. “Ivy. Stay out of it.”
“Come on, Y/N. Why don’t you call him? I'm sure he misses you."
You laughed derisively, nearly stabbing a hole in the parchment. You might have done that any other time, but you were too mad about his imaginary affair with Katherine.
“Miss me? Theo doesn’t miss me.”
“How can you be so sure? You don’t know what he’s-“
“Because if he missed me,” you finally snapped, "he’d call. Or send me an owl. But he hasn't, alright? He hasn't called and I haven't gone to the owlery because no one's missing anybody. He's doing perfectly fine without me, just as I'm doing perfectly fine without him."
No one's missing anybody.
Tears prickled behind your eyes. You stubbornly watched Ivy turn blurrier and blurrier as you failed to blink them back. Your gaze landed on your essay, and the spots where your tears had caused the ink to run. Your essay was ruined.
You pressed a trembling hand to your eyes as you finally caved in, a pair of warm, comforting hands almost immediately coming to rest on your shaking shoulders. As miserable as you had been, you hadn't acknowledged the pain, let alone how it was eating away at you. Once you started crying, it was as though you didn't know how to stop.
“Why won’t he call, Ivy?” you choked out. "Doesn't he think about me?"
"Of course he does," Ivy soothed. "He's probably just insanely busy."
You sniffled. "How busy can a person be? One phone call, one letter, anything - is that really too much to ask?"
Ivy hesitated. The silence stretched out between you like the confirmation of a truth neither of you wanted to admit. She said it anyway.
“Maybe he thinks you don’t need that from him."
You laughed, the sound sharp and humorless. “Well, he got that part right.”
You sounded ridiculous even to your own ears. It was a testament to your friendship that Ivy didn’t try to argue with you. She gave your shoulder one last squeeze before standing, her footsteps soft as she made her way to the door. “I’m going to the owlery,” she said, lingering for a moment. “If there’s anything for you -"
"- burn it."
" - I’ll bring it back.”
You focused on the ruined essay in front of you. Messy smudges had formed where your tears had fallen. It was beyond repair, much like the knot in your chest that no amount of rationalising seemed to untangle.
As the door closed behind Ivy, an unbearable silence descended upon your dorm. You pressed your hands against your temples, willing yourself to stop thinking about him, about how easy it seemed for Theo to carry on without you. Maybe that was the worst part—the inescapable realisation that you weren’t half as essential to him as he was to you.
You stared at the blurred words on the parchment, feeling the ache settle deeper into your chest. There was no scintillating revelation, no blinding eureka moment. Just the quiet, gnawing thought that maybe this was all you’d ever be to him—an afterthought.
And maybe, you thought bitterly, crumpling your essay, you deserved it for letting yourself believe otherwise.

suna has been acting a bit strange and you're determined to find out why.
suna rintaro x reader ノ sfw ノ fluff ♡
“Where are you going?”
The unexpected voice makes your shoulders jump in surprise. When you turn around in the direction that it came from, the bathroom door that was closed just minutes ago is now open, steam from the shower seeping out. Suna stands with a towel wrapped around his hips, patiently awaiting your answer.
He’s been doing this a lot the past few days—catching you when you’re on your way out the door and insisting he tag along. You thought you might be able to sneak past him while he was in the shower. Seems like he has some sort of sixth sense that allows him to tell when you’re on the move. “Just to the convenience store down the road.”
You have an idea what his next question will be.
With water dripping from the ends of his dark hair, he asks, “Should I come with you?”
Just as you thought.
“To buy a coffee to bring right back here?” You grin at his implied loyalty. Accompanying you on a fifteen minute trip is a sweet gesture but far from necessary—especially when he was planning on calling it a night. “No, that’s okay. Besides, you’re not even dressed.”
You gesture to his practically naked body and Suna looks down, as if he forgot that he had just stepped out of the shower only a minute ago. When he looks back up at you, there’s determination glowing in his light eyes. “I can get dressed. Two minutes—max.”
He starts on the short path to your shared bedroom but you stop him, resting your hand on his shoulder. His skin is soft and warm beneath yours—a far cry from his usual temperature.
“What's up with you lately?” you ask.
Suna shakes his head. “Nothing.”
You snort at that. What a lousy liar. “You’ve been clinging onto me like a koala. Waking up earlier so we can have breakfast together, joining me on trips to get groceries. You even went to the gym with me yesterday—after you already trained for the day. Since when do you ever do that stuff?”
Having been presented with your evidence, Suna has no defense. His silence makes you tilt your head. “So?”
Suna's lips poke out in a pout. It’s almost as if he thought you wouldn’t notice how different he’s been acting the past few days. “I can’t tell—it’s my new year’s resolution and a secret. It won’t happen if I spill.”
“You do that with wishes, not resolutions,” you explain, though a smile pulls at your lips with his misunderstanding. But, even if you had let it slide, you’re still more than curious about what he has committed to for the new year that so heavily involves you. “And either way, I think I have a right to know when it’s directly impacting me.”
Suna frowns at that. An uncomfortable silence fills the hallway for a moment. “Am I bothering you?”
“What?” You find yourself frowning too. Did he think you were accusing him of being overbearing? Your eyes widen as you consider the possibility and you shake your head frantically. “No! I didn’t mean it like that. I’m just curious, that’s all.”
Relief washes over Suna’s features but he still seems apprehensive.
You let your hands slide down his bare arms, hoping the touch is gentle, encouraging. “Tell me—please.”
He bites the inside of his cheek. He planned on carrying this out silently without you knowing but he supposes he came on a bit strong. It’s not that it’s anything to be ashamed of—far from it, really—though, admitting it out loud strikes Suna as the tiniest bit embarrassing. If his actions haven’t turned you away, hopefully, neither will his words.
“I just want to spend more time with you,” he admits.
That’s all?
How innocent. And cute. And totally not worth keeping a secret over.
You don’t tell him any of that though (he’s bashful enough as is, if his rosy cheeks are any indication), just silently take it in and let it warm your heart. Something about his slip-up earlier is even cuter now—him wanting to ensure that he’d be able to spend as much time with you as possible by keeping his intentions a secret.
“Well, get dressed then.” You jerk your head in the direction of your room with a smile. “You have two minutes before I leave you.”
Suna rushes away to put on some clothes. You giggle at his sense of urgency but lean against the wall, not bothering to keep track of time. You’ll wait for him regardless.

daisuke, you shouldn't have ! ..really
wrote this with fem reader in mind, but i think it could be seen as gen neutral! daisuke tries to impress you by doing stupid cliche stuff. i thought about this, and i wasn't gunna write it but everyone (one person) said they'd read it so here we go! fluffy , fluffy, stupid fluff. proofread once, if any mistakes pls tell me
the amusement park was fun. you swore you'd never go on a date there because you were embarrassed of your scream on rollercoasters. but it didn't matter anymore since daisuke's was equally as ,if not more, bad.
walking hand in hand with him, you nodded as he spoke about god knows what, cotton candy in his hand. that's when your eyes drifted and you saw such a cute plush! hanging right there, practically begging you to take it home with you! "oh my god." you spoke out instinctively.
"what? what? babe, what??" your boyfriend spoke fast, noticing how fast your face was to drop. he noticed your eyes looking behind him and quickly turned around to see what caught your gaze. ahhh that plushie. making eye contact with it, he felt the biggest smirk fall upon his face. he used to wish upon stars for movie moments like this.
your trance was broken when cotton candy was shoved into your face. "hold this." you heard daisuke say smugly. you were taken back at first, holding the cotton candy reluctantly. but when daisuke started to stretch his arms, you felt yourself smile. "i'll win that for ya babe, no biggie at all!" he said a little too proudly, striding up to the carnival game confidently. you followed behind with a pep in your step.
daisuke pulled out his wallet, grabbing some cash and handing it to the stand worker. "three balls please." the stand worker nodded, taking his cash and giving him three baseball balls upon his request. so it was one of these games. he looked behind him, straight to you to give you a wink.
when you made eye contact with him, you realised your face had changed. you knew how these type games could be. you started to doubt him. just a tiny tiny bit!! but he couldn't know that! you fixed your face quickly and nodded, giving him an encouraging thumbs up.
daisuke rose his hand and threw a ball, right in-between the cans. but it hardly did anything, merely shifting them slightly. it was no secret that daisuke dabbled in sports, so this outcome to him was unacceptable. he grunted and squinted his eyes. "okay.." you could hear him softly talking to himself through this.
grasping the second ball, he threw it, but again, to no avail. "what??" daisuke said a little louder, the shock evident in his voice. you had to stifle a laugh, not wanting him to hear you. you watched him grab the last ball as you bit off some of his cotton candy.
third times a charm? nah. the last ball didn't do anything either. daisuke squinted his eyes harder at the cans, as if he could just move it with his mind. he looked so annoyed. you walked up from behind him and placed your chin on his shoulder. "awhhh, its ok daisy." you cooed. "you know how these games can be-" this time you were cut off..by..his..hand? he shoved his hand in your face!
completely dismissing what you said, he grabbed more cash from his wallet and handed it to the stand worker. "three more..please." he was always so respectful, even when he was pissed off. you stepped back away from him, letting him do his thing.
this time it took longer. he spent more time trying to time his throws, doing his best to use what he learned from his sports lessons. but it felt like no matter what angle he threw at, he couldn't do it! you could sense the scowl on his face.
once again, you walked up to him, this time placing a hand on his arm sweetly. "ok i'm serious. let's find a ride to go on. i can probably look for this thing on amazon or someth-" "no" he cut you off again.
it felt like a time loop. he grabbed out his cash, asking for another round. now usually you'd feel inclined to tell him not to waste his money, but two things stopped you. one, he's basically rich due to his parents. two, you knew there was no stopping him. you silently questioned if this was even for you anymore. maybe it was for his ego, too stubborn to lose to a simple carnival game. you looked at his cotton candy. you had already finished about half of it.
he was on his second to last ball. daisuke took a deep breath and closed his eyes, like he was saying a silent prayer. you rolled your eyes. but that's when it happened. he threw the ball harder than he'd has been, right in the middle of the cans. whatever magic that's been holding them together was undone by his throw, the cans immediately falling out of place and scrambling onto the floor. your eyes were wide and you made eye contact with the stand worker who's eyes were also wide.
looking back to your boyfriend, you could see that daisuke was breathing heavily. it was like he took all his anger and put it into that throw. seeing that he won, his demeanour changed so quick. he looked at you proudly with a big toothy smile, you could practically see his tail wagging. the stand worker spoke up, taking both of your attention. "what um. what plush would you like..?" they asked you.
you pointed to the big plush. the reason for all this. the stand worker nodded and got the plush off the hook, handing it to you. you gave daisuke back his half eaten cotton candy, and took the plush happily. feeling the soft, fluffy fabric made it all worth it. you looked into it's eyes, your own sparkling like a child's.
leaving the stand, your boyfriend took one of your hands and guided you since you couldn't stop looking at your new child. "see, told you i'd win!"
you scoffed and rolled your eyes, looking over to him. "yeah whatever godzilla, you practically destroyed those cans." you teased, seeing the boys face redden just a tiny bit.
"yeah. ok. like..whatever, you still got your prize." he retorted.
you leaned in closer and let out a hum in agreement. leaning up a little, you kissed his cheek. "thank you, my love!"
you heard his stupid giggle as you now took the lead to the newest rollercoaster.
an: yes yes waiter! more fluff material please! im in love with it! also im thinking of writing for mha characters too...but im SCARED!! im so worried id mischaracterise them so hard oof...

Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader
Description: My only New Year's Eve plan is to help my best friend Penelope entertain her many party guests. When I find myself alone with her coworker, Spencer (who I've had a crush on for ages), it seems that my New Year's might turn out different than I had planned.
(Content/Warnings below the cut)

A/N: Again, down the wire! I've been writing literally all day. It's 10 PM and I haven't yet made dinner... I wrote and edited this one basically just today?? So if there are any mistakes or I missed any warnings, pls lmk tysm. Again, credit to @saradika-graphics for the divider graphics, including the one I cropped below.
Names used: Baby
Words (this chapter): 3,734
Words (total): 5,759
The kiss is desperate, but not rough. He’s kissing me back, right? I pull my face away. He leans his forehead against mine, both of us panting into the mere inches between our lips.
He doesn’t loosen his hold on my body. “Is everything okay? We can stop if you want.”
“I don’t want to stop.” I grip the fabric of his shirt where my hands lie on his back. “Do you want to stop?”
His hand snakes down to my ass, splaying wide across it. He pulls my body into his, letting me feel his hardening cock.
“I really don’t want to stop,” he breathes into my neck, just below my ear, “but I have to confess something before we go any further.”
What the hell? Does he have an STI that I need to know about? Trouble keeping it up? I mean, that doesn’t seem to be a problem, but you never know. Is he already with someone? Penelope didn’t say he had a partner, but maybe he’s kept them a secret?
We both still, Spencer breathing against my neck. I’d consider it ticklish if not for the jolt it sends straight to my core.
“I’ve been attracted to you for a long time, but I was too scared to say anything.” The words come out of Spencer’s mouth. Not mine. Holy shit.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I laugh, dropping my head to Spencer’s chest in utter bewilderment. “I’ve had a crush on you since the first time we met. Penelope hasn’t stopped teasing me about it since.”
“Glad I’m not alone in that,” he laughs.
“Happy New Year, by the way,” I say, lifting my head to look at him again. Eyes, lips. Eyes, lips.
“Happy New Year,” he breathes, hovering against my lips. Oppositely charged magnets falling in order with the laws of physics. Complying with the will of the universe.
I’ve never been kissed like this. Maybe it’s the thrill of unrequited lust finally requited, or maybe Spencer is just a really good kisser. His hands cradle my head on both sides. It’s like he could kiss you for hours and never be sick of it. Every soft, lush kiss plays against the intermittent roughness. The desperate ones, where lips are bit and tongues are engaged in the fervor. It feels wholly consuming and incomplete at the same time.
“We don’t have to do anything else,” I say, “but to be clear, I’m definitely down if you want to.”
He shakes his head and steps back, putting distance between us. He clenches and unclenches his hands and then rubs his palms against his dress pants.
My eyes catch on the bulge in his pants, and shamelessly, I can’t stop staring at it. I’ve imagined it before, in my most desperate, lonely moments. Right after breakups, when I’d rather escape into my imagination to soothe me. After running into him at one of Penelope’s get-togethers. I’d steal every shy glance at him, trying to memorize his features. Then I’d go home and imagine myself kissing every inch of him.
I know I probably just need a good eight to…twelve hours of sleep to clear the fog in my brain that’s making this feel like another one of my erotic daydreams. But maybe being a bit out of it is what led me to kiss him like that. If I had been at my most rational, I probably wouldn’t have.
Spencer wipes at his face. He can’t stop moving his hands. Biting a nail between his teeth. Gripping the material of his pants. Crossing and uncrossing his arms.
“[Y/N], you have no idea how badly I want to.” My heart sinks into my stomach. There’s always a but. “But I don’t want it to happen like this.”
I nod slowly, genuinely trying to avoid letting my disappointment come across as pouting. “Okay. That’s fair.”
He looks utterly exasperated, trying to keep his hands off me, and I’ve never felt so horny and so dejected at the same time. If he didn’t clearly state that he’s into me, I can’t lie and say that I wouldn’t feel extremely rejected right now.
“I’ve thought about it before,” he says. “What it would be like… to be with you. I just don’t want the first time to be at a party, in Penelope’s guest room”
I sit back down on the bed, willing my body to cool down, but it’s a non-starter. “I’ve thought about it before. What it would be like… to be with you,” playing back in my head on an unending loop. Clenched thighs give my clit the slightest bit of attention and ease the ache every so slightly.
“I’ve thought about it too,” I say, reminiscing about the numerous dirty fantasies I’ve crafted in my head over the years. I owe far too many orgasms to my vibrator, and to imaginary Spencer praising me, begging me to cum.
He rakes his fingers through his hair. “God, this is so hard.”
Hard, indeed. I selfishly ogle the tent in his pants again, taking advantage of the fact that he’s struggling to look in my direction.
“Do you want to talk about it?” I ask. “Do you want to leave?”
He joins me on the edge of the mattress. Again, a respectable distance between us.
He sighs. “If I don’t leave now, I don’t think I’ll have enough self-control to stop myself.”
Yet, he’s sitting beside me, wringing his hands in his lap.
Before I can formulate any response, he starts. “What about when the party ends?”
“I locked the door on the way in. I didn’t want anyone barging in here trying to find the bathroom. And,” I gesture to the door, the party even louder now that the champagne is flowing, “this party doesn’t die down until three, maybe four.”
“I don’t have a condom, either,” he says quietly.
I push myself up off the bed and walk over to the bedside table. I’ve stayed in this room many times. Usually, when I get drunk or high and can’t drive home. Penelope snores. As much as I love her to bits, if she didn’t have a guest bedroom, I’d be sleeping on the couch.
I rifle through the top drawer. A couple of individually packaged toothbrushes. A couple of mini bottles of mouthwash. Charging cables. Nope, nope, nope.
I squat down to look through the bottom drawer, consciously arching my back and popping my ass out a bit. I know they’re in here somewhere. In the back of the drawer, tucked away, is a small, colorful zipper pouch. I’ve stumbled across this pouch before, but I can safely say that I’ve never used it. I hope nobody else has, either, honestly. Tucked inside is a roll of male condoms and a few individually packaged female condoms.
I (mentally, emotionally, spiritually) cross my fingers as I check the date printed across the wrapper. They aren’t expired. Thank fucking god.
I rip one off at the perforated line and place it in Spencer’s hand.
He fiddles with the foil wrapper in his fingers. Not opening it. Just turning it in his hands.
“Are you sure you want this?” he asks. “Here? Like this?”
“Before tonight, I honestly thought there was zero chance you liked me. I’ve wanted this for so long, and I’m so incredibly horny right now that it’s actually hard to think straight.” I wrap my hand around his, and he stops fidgeting. “Is there anything else?”
My question is sincere and gentle. Is there anything else that you need to reassure you that I want this? Is there anything else you need?
“I haven’t been with anyone in a long time, but I was tested after,” he says.
“I was tested after my last partner.”
I start undoing my blouse. Button by button. Lower and lower. Spencer mirrors me, undoing his crisp, blue dress shirt. Button by button. Lower and lower.
“And we can stop at any point, so please let me know if there’s anything you want or don’t want,” he says.
“Same goes for you.”
I slide my blouse off and unzip my skirt at the side. With my tights already off, I’m left in just my bra and underwear, my clothes in a pile beside the bed. Spencer takes his shirt off and his pants follow. He tries his best to quickly fold them, and in two large strides, he places them on top of the dresser.
He turns to face me. In just his underwear, I have quite the view. I don’t even think he’s fully hard, but my mouth is watering at the outline of him. The butterflies are gone, replaced by a pang of hunger. I want to lick and taste every inch of him. The mental renderings I’ve crafted of Spencer in the past are all wiped from my memory. I have no use for them anymore. I have the real thing, actively being encoded into memory.
He comes to stand between my legs. Still seated, his veiled cock is right in front of my face.
“[Y/N], there’s just one more question that I have to ask first.”
I can only imagine what he sees looking down at me. As I look up at him through my lashes, my wet lips and flushed, glowing cheeks sit right next to his hard cock.
Does he know that I’ve been rocking my hips and squeezing my thighs together just to pacify my throbbing clit?
“Can we go on a real date too sometime?” he says. “I don’t want this to be a one-time thing, and I also don’t want this to ruin my chances with you.”
I feel stupid for not thinking that far ahead. If he had just wanted this to be a one-night stand, I would have accepted that, even though I know I want more with him.
I nod and kiss the front of his hip, earning a stuttered breath from him when my cheek grazes his bulge.
“I’d love that, Spencer.”
I drag my face across his covered cock. Everything about this—about him—is intoxicating. I breathe him in, my hands on his hips, and the scent feels like a drug I could get high off of.
“Can you lie down?” he says.
I have no objections.
I rip my bra and underwear off as fast as I can manage, pulling my bra over my head instead of undoing the clasps. I toss them to the floor to join the rest of my clothes. I’m, maybe a bit shamelessly, too eager to waste any time.
Spencer is standing next to the bed, naked, jaw slack, just stroking himself to nothing but my naked body. That’ll do great things for the ego.
“You are…” he breathes, shaking his head. The words he’s missing hang somewhere in the air, but he doesn’t look away from me long enough to search for them.
He opens the foil wrapper, rolls the condom on, and crawls onto the bed between my legs. I expect him to just shove it in there, but instead, he drags two long fingers through my wetness, absolutely mesmerized.
“Perfect,” he says, staring at my pussy. “So perfect.”
He slides one finger inside me and I gasp. It doesn’t fill me, but when he takes it out a moment later, I still mourn the emptiness. He takes the same finger into his mouth, eyes closed as he admires the taste of me.
I’m pretty sure that I can’t get any hornier than I am at this moment. It’s physiologically impossible.
“Please, Spencer. Fuck,” I whine. “I need you inside me.”
Quick pecks trace a line up my body, and Spencer kisses me, bodies pressed together like he’s never going to kiss me again. It’s deep, sloppy, and passionate. Moaning into each other’s mouths as I grip his hips. His cock is nestled in my center. I grind against it.
Breathless, Spencer lifts his body just enough to reach between us, guiding his cock to where we need it.
I close my eyes as he enters me; I have to turn off one of my senses to process it. In the black void behind my eyelids, I can feel everything. I can hear everything. A choked moan at the back of my throat breaks free. He pushes in further. Spencer shifts from his hands to his elbows, using the leverage to slide in even more.
“Oh, god. This is so much better than I imagined,” he says, his voice strained from pleasure.
Was Spencer thinking about me at the same time I was thinking about him? Like two lovers wondering if the other is gazing up at the moon at the same time. I open my eyes. The tufts of hair framing his face flop down, a few stray strands sticking to his face. The room is already warming and his skin glistens in it.
“What did you think about? What did you imagine?” I ask.
He fills me to the hilt, and his lips find mine; the kiss a fierce declaration that this shared sensation in our bodies is indeed shared. Spencer is feeling the same utter bliss that I am, and the thought of that alone sends a spark to my core. I’m making him feel this good.
Spencer remains unmoving, huffing breaths intermixed with muttered curses as he adjusts. The part where we’re united throbs like a beating heart, both of our bodies diverting blood from our brains to fuel this tryst.
“I felt so ashamed thinking about you like that,” he whispers against my cheek, “not knowing if you wanted me, too.”
Pinned beneath him, I push my hips up against him as much as I can manage, desperate for more. Spencer’s eyes flutter closed as he matches my movements, his cock sliding in and out as we grind into each other.
“Did you think about what I’d feel like the first time? Because I thought about what you’d feel like inside me.”
Earning moans from Spencer feels like a gift. A secret that has been bestowed upon me. For my ears only. I want to wrap this secret up and hide it under my bed. To throw it in a box and padlock it shut. I want to place it in a fancy locket, one I hide under my shirt, tucked up safe against my skin where nobody else can reach it.
“I thought about that far too much.” He shakes his head. “But you’re even better than I could’ve imagined.”
He pumps into me a few more times, hard and fast, as our bodies take the wheel, chasing the zenith of pleasure. We move together as a duet. The song? A lullaby of moans, whimpers, and whispered praises.
With each thrust, his body presses against my clit.
“Oh my god. You feel so fucking good, Spencer.”
He reaches a hand up to the side of my face, cradling my head and stroking my cheek with his thumb. I can feel the heat radiating from my cheeks. His thumb is icy in comparison.
“You are so fucking beautiful.” He glances at my chest, and then his eyes dart as he takes in the rest of my body. “Your body is perfect.” He peppers kisses across my lips, my shoulder, my neck. Every place his lips touch stings like I’ve been branded. “Perfect,” he breathes against my neck.
“How did I taste?” I ask, remembering Spencer licking his finger clean.
“Addictive” is the word he chooses, and thoughts of Spencer’s head between my legs—in my own bed—consume me.
He slows, almost to a stop. “Would you mind if I…?”
I finish his trailed-off sentence, not entirely sure if I’m right on the money or not. “Go down on me?”
He nods, and a breathy, “please,” is all I can manage to squeak out. It would be damn near impossible to think of a single reason to deny this man in his request.
Between my legs—framed like a work of art—Spencer keeps his eyes locked on my face as he trails his tongue up between my lips.
“Oh, fuck. Oh my god. Please. Please keep going.”
He moans into my pussy, wasting no time in getting into it.
“Can I grab your head as I get close?”
He whines, “please,” against my skin, and I tell him to pinch me if he needs me to loosen my grip.
Spencer’s long arms wrap around my thighs, keeping me from squirming away. I’ve never had anyone go down on me like this. He is feral, barely coming up for air. I reach down to slide my fingers into his hair, feeling myself inch closer and closer by the second. He’s humping the bed, large dimples forming in his plush ass. I just want to dig my nails into it.
One arm lifts from its spot around my leg. Spencer is a man on a mission. He needs that arm, that hand, those fingers. Two fingers slide inside me, and I know I’m not going to last. I squirm against him and he lets me control the penetration, keeping his hand still. His mouth, however, continues in its relentless pursuit.
I feel like I’ve unlocked something here. This version of Spencer is unleashed. He’s had his taste of the forbidden fruit, and he’s fully invested.
I grip his head, needing to pull him into me. Needing to control the pressure.
“Spencer, fuck.”
“Yes, baby. Please cum in my mouth.”
“I—” is all I spit out before it hits me. A tidal wave of heat and pressure that radiates from my core. I grip Spencer’s hair between my fingers and he moans even harder. I squeeze my eyes shut so hard that, when I open them, my vision is a pinhole vignetted by fuzzy white light. His tongue continues lapping at my center until my thighs trap his head, my clit unable to take anymore.
My whole body is tingling. Every nerve in my body is on high alert. My ab muscles twitch with each jerky breath as the lingering shockwaves work through me.
Spencer is kissing my thighs as if each space his lips touch is better than the last. He is relishing in my body. Worshipping it.
In this state, having cum so hard that my ears are ringing, I probably wouldn’t hesitate to declare my ardent love for him. Thankfully, I have some logic system deep in my brain that remains online and protects me from stupid mistakes like that.
“Spencer, please. Get back inside me.”
The moan that spills from us both as he slides back inside me, my pussy still throbbing with aftershocks, should be tattooed somewhere on my body. The waveform of it or whatever. My new New Year’s resolution: get a tattoo. Add that to my other New Year’s resolution: let Spencer Reid fucking rail me in every way possible.
His thrusts are already sloppier than before. “Yes, fuck. Yes. Do you know how fucking good you taste, baby? I could eat you out for hours. So perfect.”
I grab his jaw and kiss him, tasting myself. Tasting me and him mixed together.
“Spencer, I’ve wanted this for so long. I’ve wanted you for so long.”
I feel tears brimming in my eyes. Exhaustion, overwhelm, pleasure, and lust well up right at the finish line. Every sporadic back-arching thrust flutters my eyelids, pushing a small tear down both sides of my face.
“The first day I met you,” he says, struggling to get the words out fluidly, “you were the most beautiful thing. The most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.”
My hands slide to his ass, and I grip the flesh. I want my nails to leave a mark. I want to claim him as my own.
“Cum inside me, Spencer.”
He pounds into me, hard. The passion he showed while giving me oral is back in full force.
His head falls into the crook of my neck as he works himself to the edge, muffling the dirty string of words that escape as he falls apart. His cock twitches hard inside me as he spills into the condom. I wish he was condomless, shooting his ropes of cum deep within me. But maybe that’s just a dirty fantasy that will never come to fruition.
Spencer peppers me with some more kisses before getting up to discard the condom in the small trash can beside the door.
“I’ll change that garbage bag before I leave,” he says.
“I’m going to have to tell her,” I say, pulling my underwear up. “I’ll have to do some laundry for sure.” I gesture to the disheveled, dirty sheets.
“Yeah, I know. She’s nosy, so I bet she’d figure it out regardless,” he laughs. “Let me know if there’s anything else you need. With the cleanup.”
The party noise is more subdued, but it sounds like the majority of guests are still here. The small digital alarm clock beside the bed reads 1:15 AM.
“Wanna just wait it out?” I ask, straightening out the sheets just enough to crawl under them. “I promised Penelope I’d help her clean up, anyway.”
Spencer slips in beside me and I snuggle into his side, draping my leg over his and wrapping an arm across his chest.
“I much prefer it in here,” he says, pressing his lips to my temple.
I kiss him one last time, long and tender, before resting my head on his shoulder. I don’t even get a word out of my mouth before I crash once more.
A sharp knock on the door jolts me and Spencer from our very deep slumber. Morning light filters through the window, casting a warm glow across the room. I rub my eyes, swiping away the remnants of such a sleep. On the plus side, I feel fucking fantastic. Spencer sits up and stretches his arms above his head.
Another knock. Much harder.
“[Y/N]?” Penelope asks through the door.
We hop out of bed to hurriedly finish redressing ourselves.
“Shit, I fell asleep last night! I’m sorry, Pen!” I yell to her.
“Is…Spencer still in there with you?”
“Yes,” I say, annoyed. “Happy now?”
“I cleared off some space on the counter and started making breakfast whenever you two are dressed!”

Request: Imagine of Ekko x Reader from "Unmasking the Introvert" celebrating Christmas together.
Let's say the firelights are having a Christmas party with a lot going on. Reader is pretty overwhelmed and sneaks out by themselves. Ekko finds them and they decide to go somewhere secret and spend the rest of the Christmas party together.
PS: Reader gives Ekko a Christmas gift, which is a mechanical recreation of an extinct animal. If you want, you can have Ekko gift Reader something too, but you can decide what it is
Unmasking the Introvert pt. 2 | Ekko x gn!reader
Pairings: Ekko x reader (romantic)
Type of fic: Comfort
Warnings: Overwhelmation
Summary: Considering crowds are not your thing you decide to sneak out during Christmas party and Ekko leads you somewhere private and calm
—————————
The Firelights’ Christmas party was, in a word, chaotic.
The small base was packed, glowing with string lights and filled with laughter, music, and the clatter of mismatched cups against makeshift tables. Everyone was in high spirits, and the energy was contagious—if not a little overwhelming.
For you, it was a lot to take in. Crowds weren’t really your thing, and while you appreciated the festive atmosphere, the constant noise and mingling left you feeling drained. You’d smiled politely, nodded in the right places, and exchanged a few awkward greetings, but it wasn’t long before you slipped away, seeking solace in the quiet corners of the base.
You found yourself in an old, empty corridor, the faint hum of the party muffled behind walls and doors. Leaning against the cool brick, you exhaled deeply, letting the tension in your shoulders ease. Finally, some peace.
But of course, Ekko found you.
“Thought I’d find you out here,” he said, his voice warm and teasing as he stepped into view. His painted face gleamed faintly in the dim light, and the ever-present smirk on his lips softened when he saw you.
You stiffened instinctively but relaxed when you realized it was just him. “Party’s… a bit much,” you muttered, glancing down and fiddling with the cuffs of your jacket.
He chuckled, leaning against the wall next to you. “Yeah, I get it. It’s not really your thing, huh?”
You shook your head, a small, self-deprecating smile tugging at your lips. “Not really. Too loud, too many people. And I’m not great at… y’know, talking to them.”
“Yeah, you’re a real people person,” he teased lightly, nudging you with his elbow. “Kinda scary, too. Like, you had some of the Firelights convinced you were plotting their demise when you showed up.”
Your cheeks heated, and you groaned. “I’m not scary.”
“You look scary,” he corrected, grinning now. “But I know better.”
You rolled your eyes, but there was no real annoyance behind it. Ekko always had a way of seeing through your tough exterior. He knew you weren’t cold or intimidating—just awkward. And, well, maybe a little weird.
“C’mon,” he said suddenly, straightening up and offering you his hand. “I know a better spot. Just you and me. Deal?”
You hesitated for a moment but eventually took his hand, letting him lead you through the twisting halls of the base.
The “better spot” turned out to be a small rooftop nook overlooking Zaun’s skyline. It was quieter up here, the air crisp and cool, with the faint glow of holiday lights twinkling in the distance.
Ekko settled down on a makeshift bench and patted the space next to him. You joined him, pulling your jacket tighter around yourself as you gazed out at the view.
For a while, the two of you sat in companionable silence. It was easy with Ekko—he never pressured you to talk, never made you feel awkward for being awkward.
Eventually, you reached into your bag, pulling out a small box and handing it to him. “Here. Uh… Merry Christmas?”
He blinked in surprise but quickly grinned, taking the box from you. “You didn’t have to get me anything.”
“I wanted to,” you said, your voice quieter now. “I… made it.”
He opened the box carefully, his eyes widening as he revealed a mechanical recreation of a dodo bird. Its tiny wings flapped when he pressed a small button on its side, and it emitted a soft, whimsical chirp.
“This is…” He trailed off, clearly at a loss for words. “This is amazing. You made this?”
You nodded, your fingers twitching with nervous energy. “Thought it’d be cool to… you know, bring one back. Kinda.”
Ekko looked at you like you’d just handed him the world. “This is incredible. Thank you.”
He set the dodo carefully on the bench and pulled something out of his pocket—a small, intricately carved wooden charm shaped like a firefly. He handed it to you, his cheeks tinged pink.
“It’s not as fancy as yours,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck, “but I thought you might like it. Made it a while ago.”
You took the charm, your fingers brushing against his as you held it up to the light. It was simple but beautiful, the kind of thing you’d treasure forever.
“I love it,” you said softly, a genuine smile breaking through your usually serious demeanor. “Thank you.”
Ekko’s grin widened, and for the rest of the night, the two of you stayed up there, talking about everything and nothing. He listened intently as you rambled about extinct animals and whatever else came to mind, his laughter echoing in the quiet night whenever you made an awkward joke or got overly excited.
By the time the stars faded and the city below began to stir, you realized something: maybe crowds weren’t your thing, but this—being here with Ekko—was exactly where you wanted to be.

jegulus | 1k words
lil jegulus I wrote for a secret santa for a dear friend. sirius finding out about jegulus at hogwarts
“James, no,” Regulus insists, pressing a hand to James’ chest in the corridor.
“Come on, Reg, please? No one’s around. It’s late, and I haven’t seen you in days.” James knows he’s being reckless, but he can’t help it. He didn’t mean to run into Regulus, but when he spotted him during his Prefect rounds, he couldn’t resist catching up, feeling drawn to him like a magnet. He’s missed him more than he probably should admit—more than what’s acceptable for two people who’ve been secretly dating for four months.
It all started by accident. A few months ago, James found himself in the library needing to study, but it was surprisingly crowded for a Thursday. He wandered around, searching for a place to sit, and the only available seat was at a table with Regulus. Reluctantly, Regulus let him join, and by the end of the night, James was completely smitten. After that, hallway run-ins where James would change course just to walk Regulus to class, and Quidditch changing room chats became weekly occurrences, and it all fell together naturally. Neither of them had expected to fall for the other, so they’ve been taking it slow.
Now, four months later, they’re still together, and James couldn’t be happier. But with how protective Sirius is of his brother, Regulus has insisted they keep the whole thing a secret. James gets it, but part of him hates lying to his best friend. He’s been trying to convince Regulus that they should tell him now that they’re serious. Thankfully, Regulus is warming to the idea.
“We could go back to my dorm? I think Remus, Sirius, and Pete are at the library,” James offers.
“After the other day when I was trapped in your room under the invisibility cloak, I don’t want to take any chances. I missed Potions because of that, and Sirius nearly caught us.”
“But he didn’t,” James grins. Regulus rolls his eyes, the way James loves because he only does it when he has no snarky comment to say back.
“Anyone could find us here, we’re not exactly hidden.” Regulus’ body betrays his words when he steps closer to James, his hands reaching out for his robes. James instinctively brings him in, pulling their bodies flush.
Running a hand through the soft strands of Regulus’ curls, he tips his head back, their eyes meeting. “Regulus,” James starts, feeling completely lost in his storm grey eyes, “I really want to kiss you. Can I kiss you?”
There’s a war going on behind Regulus’ eyes, weighing his options, debating the risks. Ultimately, he gives in, sending James a small nod before leaning up. The moment their lips touch, the rest of the world falls away. There’s only thoughts of RegulusRegulusRegulus.
This is what always happens with the two of them. They get utterly sucked into each other’s orbit, and are unable to notice anything else. Even the other day in James’ dorm, they were much too close to getting caught, not realising the door had clicked open until they heard Sirius and Peter’s voices. Regulus practically rolled off the bed, and James had to cough and stomp his foot to cover the thud of Regulus’ body hitting the floor as he covered himself with the cloak.
“James, I missed you,” Regulus whispers against his lips, and it makes James' heart sing. It always takes a few minutes for Regulus’ walls to come down, but when they do, when he gets soft and open with how he feels—there’s nothing like it.
Heart fluttering from Regulus’ words and his body lit up from Regulus’ touch, James stops worrying about where they are. Unfortunately, he probably should start paying more attention.
“What in Merlin’s name is this?”
They pull apart, James whirling around to find Sirius. His arms are crossed, a scowl on his face, and he looks pissed. James has half a mind to run, but that thought fades when he turns and sees Regulus, whose expression mirrors Sirius'—scowl and everything.
“What does it look like, Sirius? I’m kissing James,” Regulus says dryly.
“I can see that, Regulus. What I’m confused about is why it doesn’t look to me like a first kiss,” Sirius responds.
James’ palms start to sweat. If there’s one place you don’t want to be, it’s in the middle of a fight between the Black Brothers. “Sirius, we were going to tell you—”
“Tell me what? That you’ve been kissing my brother? Cus it sure doesn’t seem like you were going to tell me.”
“I—we—the thing is—” James is floundering. He knows it, and he doesn’t know how to fix it.
“We’ve been seeing each other for four months. We weren’t going to tell you unless it became something worth telling. Which it has, so surprise! James and I are dating.”
Heart flooding with warmth, James can’t help but look at Regulus, likely with a dopey look on his face. Regulus’ lips twitch quickly when his eyes shift sidelong to James.
“Please don’t be mad, Sirius. I really like him. I wanted to tell you, I swear—”
“Prongs, relax.” Sirius’ expression softens into a small smile as he steps forward, placing his hands on James’ shoulders. “I’ve had a hunch about you two for a while. The way you look at each other? It’s not hard to figure out. Also, you’re not as sneaky as you think. I knew Regulus was in the dorm the other day, why do you think I droned on about nothing for an hour?” Sirius grins. “Honestly, I’m ecstatic. My best friend and my brother? How could it get better? Just don’t hurt each other, and I’m all for it.”
Shocked, James looks back at Regulus before his head turns towards Sirius, a wide smile on his face.
“You’re really fine with this?” Regulus asks.
“I’m fine with it. I’d just prefer not to see it. And don’t ever lie to me again, James.”
James smiles. “Wouldn’t think of it.How did you even end up over here, anyway? This isn’t on the way back to the dorm.”
Sirius pulls the map from his pocket, waving it in the air. “Next time you try to hide something from me, maybe don’t forget we have a map that shows us where everyone in the castle is.” His lips curl into a mischievous smirk and James laughs.
“You have a map that shows you where everyone is in the castle?” Regulus blurts out in disbelief.
Whipping their heads toward him, Sirius and James share a sidelong glance.
“Shit,” they say in unison.

What started out as friendly chatting quickly turned into heated banter when it was only the two of you.
Throughout the months upon months, you had known each other, one secret rendevouz turned into many, many more.
It all began when Price had invited everyone, he knew and enjoyed spending time with, to a garden party at his home.
During the afternoon, you and Simon danced around each other. Not really talking. Not really showing an interest in one another. Not until the evening came along, and the surprisingly large garden was bathed in a gloomy light.
Simon appeared from the shadows (like a fucking vampire - sometimes you cursed the abilities he had learned through his job).
"You've been avoiding me." He stood behind you, glancing over the garden in front of you. His deep voice filtered through the warm air.
"I have not. You have been avoiding me." You heard Simon chuckle behind you.
"Right." You felt his hand snake around you waist. Slowly, you turned your head to face him, body still facing the slowly decreasing crowd in Prices garden.
"Simon?" You looked at him questioningly as his hand travelled further around your middle. His fingers spread over your stomach, thumb grazing the space between your breasts.
"Tell me to stop, and I will." You breath hitched, but you said nothing.
"Say nothing, and follow me."
Simon led you into the treeline surrounding Prices garden, which merged into a forrest. Once you were out of sight, he placed you between himself and a particularly large tree. His arms caged you underneath him as he dipped his head down to look into your eyes.
"You want this?"
You tipped your head up, facing him fully. "Do I want you?" You countered him.
He nodded.
"I do want you." You answered his question. And when you did, your words were almost swallowed by him. His lips came crashing down onto yours. His hands roamed over your body, squeezing, holding, digging his fingers into your soft flesh.
Your own hands squeezed at the strong muscles of his chest and neck. Simons tongue had slipped past the seal of your lips, and his fingers had lifted your dress, exposing your thighs and hips to the cooling air.
He pulled back to look at you, searching for permission to move forward.
You nodded feverishly, giving Simon permission. His fingers pulled your knickers to the side, letting his fingers dip into the wetness between your thighs.
He fingered you while his lips roamed over your neck. He sucked hickeys into your skin as his fingers swirled around your clit and into your heat.
Soon enough, you came undone on his fingers. Moaning and sweating lightly, you held on to him.
"Fuck Simon." You panted lowly. He chuckled at your state and pulled his fingers from you, wiping your slick off on the inside of his shirt.
"Yeah, love. Best we keep this to ourselves, right?" He looked down at you as you came back to reality.
"Right, yeah." You nodded while looking up at him. He was right. No one should know. You should keep this a secret.
"Alright. I'll drive you home. Meet me at my car in 5."
He kissed your cheek, and then he left.
Simon texted you every now and then. But always only when he was home. Never when he was out on an OP. You still met up with your common friends and all, but to the outside world, you were 'just friends'.
You up?
Love, can I come over in 10?
Idc if you're home or not. I'll stop by your place anyway.
Just wanna say hi
And he did come by to say hi. You were home, chilling on your couch as he knocked at your front door.
He stood before you, in some of his tactical gear and face hidden by a mask. He had just come home.
"Can I come in?"
Simon led you to the couch. He peeled away your clothes and his own as you walked closer and closer to the couch. His lips were on you the second his mask left his face. He kissed you like he was a starved man.
Soon enough, you were naked on your couch. Simon laid on top of you as he kissed at your lips with a feverish rhythm. His hips thrusted into yours, his hard cock weeping with precum. Desperate to find comfort in your dripping cunt.
Simons lips moved from yours, down to your neck, nipping at the soft skin.
"I need you." He bit softly into the muscle connecting your neck to your shoulder.
"I missed you." His deep voice seeped into your ears as you parted your legs wider for him. He slid his cock into you with no trouble, your juices coated his cock, letting him slide right into you.
"Fuck love. I missed you so much."
You were a moaning mess, holding on for dear life as he fucked you into your couch.
Simon loves to eat you out. Whether it's just a taste or hour long sessions, he doesn't care. That man just wants to taste you.
Especially when he is staying the night and you're walking around in one of his shirts. The fabric sways around you like a short dress, your legs bare as you walk around the kitchen.
At some point, he snaps. He can't just sit on the bar stool, as you dance around on the other side of the counter.
With a swift motion, he turns the heat of whatever is on the stove down to a simmer and lifts you to sit on the counter. Legs parted and fingers curling into his hair, Simon eats you out while your dinner simmers in the pot.
Simon loves the sounds you make when he sucks at your clit, his fingers massaging that spongy spot inside you. He loves it when you clench around his fingers, and your juices leak onto his chin.
Simon is the type of man who doesn't come before you do. No matter how much you tease him. He will hold you down and make you come before he even thinks about himself. That is, if you don't turn him into a desperate, leaking mess first.
Also, he found out that he likes to play with you in public, hidden from everyone around you.
So, when you're at the bar, sat in a booth with your friends, Simon, is 🤏🏻 this close to murder you when he feels your sock clad foot inch it's way up his inner thigh under the table.
You had discarded one of your shoes to tease Simon through his jeans. Once he felt your foot inch closer and closer to his cock, he shifted his hips closer to the edge of his seat and leaned forward to hide what you had going on.
There wasn't much you could do in your position besides just touching him through his jeans. But your ministrations did their work, and Simon grew more and more tense. The look on his face was stoic, but you sensed what was happening behind his dark eyes. He was growing desperate for more. His aching hard cock was pulsing under the arch of your foot. His eyes flickered back and forth between you and the bathroom at the other end of the bar. His hand had found its way around your ankle, holding your foot close to his crotch, pressing it down onto his aching cock.
Soon enough, he snapped. He reached for his phone and shot a message to yours
Bathroom. Now.
You looked at him questioningly. He only squeezed your ankle and pushed your leg down. You got your shoe on again and excused yourself to leave for the bathroom.
A few moments later, Simon appeared in the hallway, leading to the restrooms.
"Get in. Little minx."
He pulled you into a stall and locked the door behind you. As soon as the lock clicked, his lips were on yours, desperate and needy for more.
You unzipped his pants and tugged his weeping cock out. It sprung free and stood stiffly in the cool air. Simon hissed against your lips as you began to work your hands around his shaft and tip.
"I need more. All your teasing..fuck..please."
'Oh poor Simon' you thought. You had mercy on him and got on your knees. Gently, you licked at his tip, the salty taste of his precum spreading on your tongue.
His fingers curled into your hair as you began sucking in more and more of his length. While you slurped away at his cock, Simon was fighting to keep his moans silent. He was lost in pleasure as you swallowed him greedily.
Before he had time to prepare you, he spilled his cum into your throat in a blinding orgasm. It left him drained and weak in his knees.
Without much power, he pulled you to your feet again.
"Shit. What have you done to me, woman?" He shook his head lightly as a tired smile spread across his lips.
Simon loves quickies with you. But he loves your long sessions even more.
He loves to please you in every physical way he knows. Fill every hole you want him to. Paint your skin with his cum. Try new things with you. Oh, how he loves to try new things with you.
It wasn't much, but you had requested for him to wear his uniform once. Simon didn't think much of it. Until he felt how much it turned you on. To see him clad in his tactical gear (without all the weapons, of course), his face hidden beneath a black balaclava, gloves soaked with your juices.
Even when he was about to fuck you, you shook your head no, when he was about to take off his gear. To his suprise, it turned him on as well. The way the fabric bound around his body as he moved. You laid completely naked before him. Simon stood at the end of his bed, bending over you. His hands gripped your hips and pulled you to the edge of the matress. He settled between your legs and slid his cock into you.
He fucked you mercilessly. He held you down with a hand on your hip and the other holding your wrists above your head. It was hot. And definitely not the last time Simon fucked you while wearing his gear.
Sometimes, Simon pulls you aside just to kiss you. He keeps saying it just to rile you up. Buuut....you felt something else was the reason for his affection.
You had yet to figure it out. Or wait for him to tell you🫢

i'm right here - E.M. * Chapter Two
"I never realized that"
Warning: angst, mentions of weed, fluff
Pairing: Eddie Munson x fem! Harrington reader
Word count: 4.5k
Previous Chapter
⋆˚✿˖°
"Wha- How?" Eddie stumbles over his own words and tries to catch up on what you just said and implied.
You nodded. After the delicate conversation you both just had, it feels awkward to talk about it now. It feels wrong, it's kind of ridiculous too.
"Yeah, I... it's been a while, actually" You look up to him and find Eddie completely static. One of his hand grips tightly the steering wheel while with the other one he fidgets with his rings.
"Wait, wait, wait. You're saying you like me?" He shakes his head a few times and looks at you with widened eyes. "You like me? Shortie..."
"Yeah, I know Eddie! I just wish I wouldn't have told you like that okay? And I know you like her, and that you're still pretty hurt because of everything that happened, but..."
"Oh my God, shut up for a second" His voice was soft and calm, and you notice he's kind of smiling. "I never realized that. It’s kind of cute, I just… It’s just too much to deal with right now. But yes, I'm hurt. I'm so disappointed, I feel used and invalidated by her. I feel like a piece of shit. But I also feel like something has always been different with us. I mean, you and me"
Eddie reaches over to hold your trembling hand and makes sure you feel comforted. He gives you this reassuring smirk as he rests his forehead over his left hand.
"I'm sorry, Eddie. For everything. For not telling you before, for what we just saw. And for confessing my feelings just now" You feel like a twelve year old girl who just told someone her deepest secret.
He pulls you for a hug and you don't protest. Your face is smashed against his fluffy hair and you can even smell his mint shampoo. Eddie rubs his thumb against your back and rests his chin at the top of your head.
"Don't be stupid, sweetheart. We can't control our feelings. And... about that other thing, I guess you should've been honest. I would've never even given her a chance, I think I wouldn't even let her come close and talk to me. But I know you had good intentions"
"Steve wanted to tell you but I told him that if someone had to do it, it should've been me. You know, he's not friends with her but he thought she could've changed. We all grew up, we're almost graduating and becoming adults" Your words came out a little muffled as you were still holding each other.
You pulled back only a little, so you could properly see his face before apologizing to him again. This time, you could smell his cologne and it made you feel giddy from being too close.
"I'm really sorry. I didn't know you guys were together until my first day at school. Steve never wanted to tell me before"
"Hey" He pinched your chin and shook your head playfully. "It's okay, shortie. It's not your fault either way. Neither it was mine"
You nervously chuckled and pinched his chin back. Eddie noticed how close you two were and how suddenly it started to get hot inside his van.
"I, uh- I should probably drop you off before your brother decides to come back looking after you" He cleared his throat trying to avoid eye contact and you noticed how nervous he suddenly became.
The ride back home definitely felt more awkward than you thought it would. You picked the Black Sabbath tape and blasted the songs over the speakers at a higher volume. Maybe it would make him feel more comfortable and less nervous, it should be a good distraction. You didn't want to ask him what he was gonna do about Chrissy and you probably knew the answer.
It wasn't going to end well either way. You just didn't want things to go south that fast. But at least he had a friendly reaction after you told him about your feelings. You just weren't sure he felt the same way, and yet, it's probably not the best time to talk it over.
Eddie parked over your house and waited until you got out of the car. He was leaning his arm against the opened window, tapping against the vehicle while he watched as you walked over your porch. He just said goodnight and nothing else. Should he even say anything else? Is there something to say? His mind was racing with a million thoughts and a lot of them were about you two.
You were looking for your keys, until you realized you forgot to bring one with yourself. You stood there for two seconds and groaned, knowing you'd have to ring the doorbell for Steve to open the door.
"Forgot your keys?" Eddie asked, his arm still lazily resting against the window. You just nodded, biting your lip feeling embarrassed. "Harrington isn't gonna let you in, is he?"
"I'm not sure I will" Steve said through the door.
"Stevie, you better open this fucking door you dickhead" Your voice wasn't one of the most friendliest and he noticed that through your tone.
"Right, sis. Remember when you stepped on my hand at the bowling? I told you, you should find some other place to sleep tonight!"
The only reaction you could have at that moment was to scoff. Eddie was watching all of it and just snorted but it wasn't audible.
"You're kidding me, right? Steve, if you don't open this fucking door I will knock it down!"
"Should've thought about it before being a little shit with me" Steve didn't even mention he would open the door and you looked behind yourself, Eddie still parked on the street. "Munson is still there, isn't he? I'm sure he's a great host"
"I'm not coming over to his house just because you're being childish" You lower your voice so only your brother can listen to you, but you don't expect Eddie to be right next to you that very second.
"Munson would love to give her shelter, but this is her house, Harrington. Stop being a moron and open the door for her" He knocked a few times like it would change his mind.
Eddie actually wouldn't stop knocking and the fact his rings were hitting the door loudly was kind of making up for it. "I can do this all night, bro"
You watched as he kept knocking until Steve gave up and opened the door for you. He deadpanned at his friend for being so annoying and insistent, not looking at you when he took a step back for you to walk in.
"You guys look like you're still children. Jesus Christ, you're a man, dude" Eddie shook his head.
"Yeah and? Didn't ask" Steve kept his demeanor, only this time he grinned at his friend. "Go home, you look like shit, bro"
As a response, Eddie gave your brother a hard punch on his shoulder and walked back to his car. You saw as he waved at you and drove off the street until you couldn't see it anymore.
Instead of going to your bedroom and getting ready for bed, you throw yourself over the couch and breathe heavily. Steve sat next to you and leaned against his knees waiting for an answer. You know he wants to know what happened, but you were too tired to talk about anything.
"I'm not telling you anything now, you weirdo. Fuck off" He laughs at your attitude and pushes your arm playfully before he made himself comfortable and looked for something to watch with you on the TV.
-
Eddie was rushing through the students as he held his backpack lazily, walking towards his locker. Uncle Wayne wasn't home and he overslept, meaning he didn't have time to eat breakfast or pick a good outfit for the day. It's not like he cared about his looks, but he would usually choose something nice to wear during the day.
He had just learned he was going to be in your biology class and couldn't find a way to ignore you. He didn't want to, he just hasn't gotten over the idea of you never telling him how mean and heartless she was. Eddie still hasn't even told you about his mutual feelings either, because everything was so confusing to him. The only thing he could think about the past days was how distressing it was to break up with Chrissy.
And you saw how sad he was just by looking at his face. He had bags under his eyes and his frizzy curly hair was so disheveled you wondered if he even brushed it lately. He didn't talk much with his friends or even the guys from the Hellfire Club. He didn't seem very present during the breaks or while eating at the cafeteria.
You watched as Eddie entered the classroom and made his way to the farther table in the back, not even daring to look at you. Maybe he didn't see you, maybe he didn't want to face you. It seemed like he was running away from you.
The entire time at school he spent with his friends and the boys from the Hellfire Club. It seemed like he was feeling a little better since he was talking to the boys. It made you feel relieved to see him like that, you'd hate to watch him feel like shit because of her. Speaking of, Chrissy was sitting next to Jason along with his basketball team, laughing at whatever shit they were talking about. You watched as Eddie couldn't look away from them, his face holding a grimace everytime they would share a kiss or something. And it made you feel nauseous from noticing how he was still having feelings for her, and not for you.
The basketball leader didn't spend much of his time teasing the other students or making fun of them, but every once in a while he would say something about the guys who liked playing board games. You still didn't know why he was such a bully, but it made you feel so annoyed it was hard to ignore it.
It was the way he was such an asshole that made your friends despise him, especially Steve. As soon as he gave up on being on the team, Jason stepped into it taking away your brother's title of "the best player". He didn't care about it anymore, he wasn't like that in a long while.
You were talking to Nancy and Robin when Eddie's voice made its announcement through the cafeteria. All of you looked at him as he was sitting on the table, one of his legs was bent and he rested his elbow on top of his knee. There it is, the scene he likes to make sometimes.
"You mommy didn't give you enough attention, Carver?" Eddie asked over a sarcastic tone, giving him a playful smile.
Most of the students around the tables were watching and giving both of them looks, whispering to one another waiting for the scene to unfold.
"I don't know, freak. Did yours?" Jason knew Eddie's mother died when he was younger, he just didn't care about that information.
You really thought that was the lowest someone could ever go with. But looking at your friend, you noticed how he didn't shift his demeanor, even though you knew he was hurt. It's not like he could complain about it, Eddie was the one to push Jason.
"Ah, even if she did, I like the attention. You know better than that" He shrugged, dropping his weight on the floor after getting up from the table. Eddie walked up to Jason, staring at him top to bottom. "You're the one calling me out every time you see me. I think you want me to be more noticeable, don't you big boy?"
Jason shoved his hand that was pinching his chin so hard the skin became pink. He looked at Eddie and placed his arm around Chrissy's shoulder, who stood there sitting on her chair without moving in the slightest. "You couldn't even keep the most beautiful girl by your side. You can't keep a reputation"
"I wouldn't want to keep a bitch like her for a girlfriend" Eddie gave him a cheap grin, looking straight at Chrissy, who gasped.
The entire room went silent, and you shared a look between your brother and your two friends. Before Robin even mentioned getting up, you did it first and paced towards Eddie and Jason. The basketball player was about to throw a punch when you pulled the curly brunette by his t-shirt. He didn't take a single step from his place, still staring at the guy in front of him.
"What did you just say, you fucking loser?" Jason closed his hands into fists and looked to his side when Chrissy tried to stop him. She sat back down and looked at you.
Both of you stared into each other. You felt an urge of punching her face because that was her fault somehow, while she just wanted this entire show to end. She just knew she was a bitch, there was no reason to contest his accusation. She wasn't even the one to make a scene in front of people, she was a bitch behind people's backs.
"You better take that back, or I will punch you so hard you won't even remember your name" He teased, his jaw was clenched. Jason tensed his shoulders waiting for Eddie's response.
"Eds" You tried to call out, but he wouldn't listen to you. "Just leave it, come on"
"Yeah, Eds" Jason quipped and mimicked your tone. "Listen to the Texas bumpkin and go back to your stupid cult"
You immediately threw him a disapproving look and frowned. While still holding Eddie's shirt, you noticed how his bicep tightened at Jason's words.
"Fuck you, Carver. Stop being such an ass" He laughed and mocked you with a pout. Again, you pulled your friend by his arm but again, he didn't want to move.
You barely saw when Steve stood next to you, his chest puffing and his arms crossed. His nose was flaring and you didn't even want to think about his thoughts right now. You knew your brother was so pissed that Steve could smash his face with only a punch.
"You better stop, Jason. This isn't going to end well" Steve warned, his face seriously holding a hard expression as he tried to stay away from the blonde guy.
He looked at the three of you and scoffed, pulling Chrissy by her hand and taking a few steps closer to Eddie, looking at you sideways before closing in on your friend again.
"You and your bitch better not do this again" Jason almost bumped his nose into Eddie's when he emphasized he was talking about you.
This time, Eddie didn't care if he was going to be expelled from school. He just couldn't let anyone talk shit about you or treat you like that again. You tried to avoid a fight to start by grabbing him from his tiny waist, while Steve gripped one of his hands over the side of Eddie's neck.
Jason didn't even flinch, because he knew Eddie wouldn't be capable of beating him down. As much as he wanted to. As soon as they left, Steve guided you both to your table, sitting you down next to Eddie. You stood between them, still not having any idea of what to say.
"Sometimes I wish I could break his fucking nose" You hear your brother rage and grab a fistful of his hair into his hands.
To your left, Eddie chuckles and agrees with him. When you look at him, he's shyly staring back at you while he nervously bites his lower lip.
"I'm sorry I dragged you into this, shortie. I didn't want this little show to happen" He frowns and rests his hand on top of yours.
That weird electricity happens again, and you both look from your hands to each other. He doesn't retreat, instead, Eddie closes it and holds your hand tighter. He gives you a sweet smile that makes your stomach flutter. You smile back at him and fix one of the strands of hair from his bang. He blows some air to playfully fix it for you and it makes you laugh at his sweetness.
Trying not to make a big deal out of what just happened, you change the subject. "You're crazy for doing that, Eddie. He's crazy and mean"
"He's an asshole. The biggest. And he deserves to be pitied. Dude doesn't know where his place is. And no one can call you a bitch"
"You called Chrissy a bitch" You remind him and he tilts his head.
"Because she is" Your mouth opens in full shock, he's still wearing a peaceful expression on his face. "I've been thinking about a shit ton of stuff. Things she would do and would never do when we were together, and– Sadly, you're right"
It comes out with a hurting tone, and you feel sad for him. But it means he's finally getting over her and moving on from their relationship. If there ever was one to begin with.
You give him a comforting smile, squeezing his hand tightly. "I'm sorry, Eddie. You're so much better than that and you don't deserve her. Neither does she deserve someone like you"
He squeezes your hand back and for a fraction of time, his first reaction was to place his free hand over your jaw and rub your cheek with his thumb. But then Steve called out to you both and your little bubble was broken by his voice. He doesn't even notice what just happened between you two.
"By the way, I can't give you a ride back today. I gotta go to work earlier with Rob"
Eddie removed his hand from yours. The one that was halfway through touching your face, he used to brush his hair. "I can take her home, dude. No worries"
"You're giving me a ride back to your house?" He laughed and pinched your cheeks, pursing his lips.
"No, you dummy. I meant taking you back to your house"
You nod timidly for misunderstanding what he just said. You feel your face getting warm and you're pretty sure you're red because of the embarrassment. Steve chuckles next you, getting elbowed on his side for the second time in a week.
-
You and Eddie still haven't talked about anything that has been happening between you two since your first conversation about your feelings. He hasn't even been honest with you about his own feelings and instead, he was trying to avoid the conversation with you. He was probably too traumatized to bring up the subject, afraid of being rejected even though you made it clear that you like him.
You’re sitting on the kitchen island stool at your house with Robin, Nancy and Max. Steve was throwing a gathering for a few people, but turns out, reefer Rick decided to invite the rest of the school. Obviously, it didn’t include the basketball team or the cheerleaders.
Him and his friends were having a nice conversation by the porch, while Eddie, his friends and the boys were playing foosball outside your backyard. Robin couldn’t stop talking about Vicky and Nancy tries to give her some advice even though she’s only been with guys. You watch the conversation unfold next to Max, who’s bored out of her mind. She’s resting her face against her hand, tapping her fingers against the furniture.
She laughs at some jokes Robin makes, but it doesn’t look like she’s interested. You haven’t talked much to her lately, so you try to distract her from being bored.
“What are your plans after school?” She looks at you with a funny expression, grimacing at the thought of being an adult.
“Maybe I’ll move out from this hell and become a veterinarian” Max shrugs, drinking her coke from the can. “What about you? Why did you even come back?”
You didn’t know exactly why. You just knew you didn’t want to live with your parents forever, but you also didn’t want to come back to the place that made you go away, for instance. Your shoulders slump and you give a deep sigh.
“I like living with Steve, and I didn’t want to live with my parents forever. I think I like this place” Your words made her almost choke on her drink and she laughed. Max laughs so hard, it’s even weird to see her like this after everything that happened to her.
“That’s plain bullshit. Who could ever want to come back to this godforsaken place? Nope, there’s gotta be a better reason” She’s right, you don’t have a good reason or even an explanation.
Little did you know.
Dustin calls out your name from the door and waves at you. You get up from the stool and follow behind him to the backyard. Eddie is smoking weed with Gareth and the others are playing a match on the foosball. The curly boy guides you to where he’s sitting and makes you sit in front of him.
“You know I’m a master at playing games and figuring out stuff, right?” You also knew he had the biggest ego for someone so small too. You just nod and wait for him to continue.”Steve also told me you’re a mastermind. So, I wanna know how I can build this small device with the smallest amount of pieces I can”
He shows you a device you have no idea that is. All you know it’s something digital. You inspect it, squinting your eyes harder than you can to figure out what it is for. Behind you, Eddie and Gareth expectantly wait for you to say something. They clearly look high already.
It takes you a few minutes to decide what could work for that little device, so you explain it to the kid in front of you and show him the options. He looks at you with delight and smiles. Dustin has the most endearing smile you’ve ever seen. He’s also nice, smart and caring.
“Dude, she’s a genius!” He exclaims with excitement, happy to be helped by you.
“She’s always been a brain. But she sucks at math” Eddie helps you up but you manage to trip over his foot even though you haven’t been drinking that much.
You fall into the comfortable grass and laugh your ass off from being so damn clumsy and he looks at you like you’ve grown seven heads, while Gareth cackles along with you for God knows why. He’s not even paying attention to what’s really happening.
“Hey-” You choke on your own laugh “Not every brilliant mind knows everything”
He extends his hand and firmly grabs you up again. This time, he makes sure you won’t trip, but you had other plans in mind and pulls him as hard as yo ucan. Eddie falls onto the grass by your side and cracks up, standing on his elbows. He offers you a beer and you sit next to him, taking a swig from your beer as he also offers you the blunt he’s holding.
You haven’t smoked weed in such a long time. In fact, the last time you smoked one was before you moved out from Texas, but it wasn’t the same thing as sharing it with your friend. You inhale the smoke and it fills in your lungs, giving you a relaxing sensation.
“It’s great that you helped Dustin. He’s a really cool guy and he likes to blend people in our groups, especially you. Steve is gonna love seeing his sister getting along with his friends too” He smokes again as you pass his weed back and you nod.
It really makes you happy to be part of Steve’s group of friends. Through the past weeks, you’ve noticed how close they all are to each other and how caring they are. It crosses your mind that maybe it’s because of everything they’ve been through together, and it reminds you that you never knew what really happened to Eddie.
“What happened to you last year? I mean, Steve doesn’t say much about the others because every experience is different, but he told me he pretty much almost died too” You remember when he showed you the scar on his neck, telling you how those bats almost choked him to death.
Eddie bit his inner cheek and looked down at his feet. Maybe that was a dangerous territory to reach. His eyes suddenly became kind of dull when he stared back at you, roaming through your expression of not knowing what to say anymore.
“I mean, if you really don’t want to talk about it-”
He passed the blunt back to you again and sighed. A heavy one, to be honest “They… they almost choked me too. But the worst part was still yet to come. They chewed on me. They ripped my skin open and it was hard to breathe, and you know I’m asthmatic so it was a hundred times harder to find oxygen”
His words were heavy and he shifted on his seat, sitting straight. As soon as you both finished smoking, Eddie took his leather vest off, lifting up his shirt so you could see some of his scars. They weren’t as nasty as you’d imagine since it’s been only a year, but they were still there.
He turned on his back to you and you could see a round shaped bite the size of your palm. That one was the most visible, it also had a bump on it. You hesitantly ghosted your thumb over his skin, gently pressing against it with horror stamped on your face. He flinched as a reflex and you pulled back immediately, apologizing for pushing the boundaries.
“It’s okay… it’s just- It doesn’t hurt much. It’s just a weird sensation it gives me” He sits back and drinks the rest of his beer.
“I’m sorry this happened to you. I know you were all trying to save Max out there and I’m glad you came back” You feel like you wanna hug him, but instead you snake your arm around his and rest your head against his shoulder.
He leans against you and you feel the weight of his head over yours, his hair tickling your face again. You smell his scent and again it makes you feel unsteady. Eddie starts to feel weird because of how his heart is racing and the only thing he wants to do is interlock his fingers with yours.
As you sit there and share a moment for the first time, you know why you came back to Hawkins. Because of him. And right there, you feel lightheaded because that’s what you’ve been wanting to do for as long as you’ve known. And Eddie doesn’t think much about it, but he also knows why you two always have shared this different connection. Because now he knows that’s what he wanted too.
He just didn’t want you to know that surviving the attack from the bats came with a consequence, and he didn’t want to scare you.

Selcouth Sneak Peek
Chapter Eight
They stepped out onto the balcony. Sirius placed a hand on her lower back, steering her away from the rest of the party goers. His hand dropped when they found a secluded corner away from all the drunken wizards and rich snobs that had more money than they knew what to do with. He turned, leaning his side into the railing. Tegan mimicked him, her head cocking to the side.
“Tell me everything I should know about the Weasley family,” Sirius said, his eyes searching her face.
“They are the nicest and warmest family I have ever met,” Tegan replied with a soft smile. “My daughter is best friends with Ginny and she’s also dating Ron. I’m invited to every single event that family holds, which, trust me, is a lot. They have ongoing Friday night dinners where almost everyone always shows up. They are invested in each other’s lives. Ginny actually lives across the pond from her parents’ house.”
Sirius nodded. “Any entanglements that came to life after the war?” he pressed. “Even if it’s a third cousin twice removed, I need to know.”
“No,” Tegan said in a sure tone. “They’re a good family, Sirius. Extremely loyal to one another. If you’re lucky enough to enter their orbit, they’re fiercely loyal to you as well.”
Sirius shoved his hands into his trouser pockets. “So, I’m being a paranoid git for nothing?”
Tegan’s brows lowered on her face. “Definitely,” she replied with no hesitation. “Was that really a question?”
Sirius rolled his eyes, a sigh escaping his lips. “Harry wants to move back to England to be closer to James and Ginny.”
Tegan smiled. “That’s great!”
Sirius’ face pulled.
“You don’t want him to?” Tegan asked.
Sirius swallowed, his gaze flickering to the sky. “I just worry for his safety in England.”
Tegan touched his arm, causing him to look back at her. “It’s not like it was before,” she assured him, her thumb brushing against the fabric of his suit jacket. “Voldemort’s followers aren’t causing issues.”
“Yet,” Sirius stressed, his eyebrows shooting up.
Tegan dropped her hand from his arm. “Sirius…”
“You don’t believe he’s actually dead, do you?” Sirius pressed, his lips thinning into a straight line.
“There was a body,” Tegan replied as though that meant something.
“I’ve heard stories from people who attempted to kill him and spells that should have done the trick barely made him flinch,” Sirius said in a low tone, his eyes flickering around them to ensure no one would overhear.
Tegan sighed. “Those are all stories.”
“Dumbledore doesn’t think so,” Sirius added, his arms crossing over his chest. “He believes it’s only a matter of time before he reappears.”
“So, what? You think Harry goes back to England and some Death Eaters will reincarnate Voldemort?” Tegan asked in an incredulous tone, her head shaking. “Do you know how mad that sounds? No magic can bring back the dead.”
“They could if he’s not actually dead,” Sirius explained.
Tegan frowned deeper, her dark eyes boring into him. “And the body that was burned was what? An illusion?”
Sirius stared at Tegan. Knowledge was a dangerous thing to have. Trust between two people seemed nearly impossible to maintain. Except, Tegan kept the secret of Harry being in England. She contacted Sirius first instead of saying James looked like a Potter to people she was extremely close to. Having an Auror like Tegan in his corner would be beneficial. Dumbledore always said it was good to collect strong allies, ones who could obtain knowledge and have skill sets that you may lack.
Sirius wasn’t stupid. He knew what he brought to the Order all those years ago. Knowledge of pureblood circles, who were friends and who were enemies. He knew their secrets. He heard their gossip. Being a Black was beneficial in that way. Sirius grew up with the very wizards that had been rallied and radicalized by Voldemort. He understood what motivated them, what enticed them.
While over the years Sirius lost access to that information, now he had an even more important connection that Dumbledore wanted access to: Harry. Sirius allowed it, needing Dumbledore’s resources and knowledge to keep his godson safe. Sirius doubted that Harry would even be alive at this point if it hadn’t been for Dumbledore’s connections. Watching Harry waste away at such a young age from the Horcrux slowly chipping away at him had been the worst years of Sirius’ life.

The kitchen smelled like sugar, cinnamon, and butter—three of the best things in life, if you had to ask yourself. you and Joe were working on a batch of homemade cinnamon rolls, a recipe he had insisted you try together. Of course, the “together” part turned into him making fun of your inability to roll the dough without making it look like a crumpled mess, but that was beside the point.
“You’re doing it wrong,” Joe said, a teasing grin on his face as he peered over your shoulder. He was rolling his dough perfectly, of course, while yours looked like it had been through a war zone.
“Oh, really?” you replied while rolling your eyes. “I thought you were here to help, not critique.”
“I am helping,” he said, a twinkle in his eye. “I’m just giving you the pro tips. You’ll get it next time.”
you shot him a playful glare, but just as you were about to roll your dough out again, You felt a chill sweep over you. Your hands, covered in flour, were cold—and Joe’s warmth was too tempting to ignore. Without thinking, You reached around behind him, sliding your hands underneath the hem of his shirt.
Joe went still, the sudden coolness of your hands against his warm skin sending a shiver through him. “Whoa, what are you doing?” he asked, voice a mix of amusement and surprise.
you grinned, rubbing your cold hands against his stomach. “Just warming up. You don’t mind, do you?”
He looked down at you, trying to hold back his smile. “You’re freezing me out here,” he teased, his voice dropping a little, more playful than I’d ever heard. “You know I don’t think that’s the reason you’re getting so close.”
you laughed, pulling your hands back to grab a new handful of dough, but not without making sure to run your hands briefly along his side as you did. “I just wanted to make sure you weren’t getting too hot. You’re wearing a long-sleeve shirt while I’m here in a tank top. That’s not fair.”
Joe leaned back against the counter, crossing his arms, a slow smile spreading across his face. “Oh, I see how it is. You’re using me as a human heating pad now.”
“Pretty much,” you replied, reaching for the rolling pin and purposefully nudging his hip with yours as you did. “And you’re a very good one.”
Joe’s expression softened, his teasing smile shifting to something warmer. “I don’t mind being your personal heater,” he said, his voice more sincere than before. “But, you know, next time, I expect you to cook a real dinner.”
you chuckled, adjusting the dough, which had now transformed into a much more successful roll thanks to Joe’s “pro tips.” “Don’t worry. After we finish this, I’ll make us something even better. How about a nice, hearty meal?”
“You promise?” He raised an eyebrow, his playful smirk making a return. “Because if it’s anything like this dough… I might need a backup plan.”
“Hey,” you nudged him again with your elbow. “At least we’ll have the best dessert in town. And maybe I’ll even make it up to you with something a little more spicy tonight.”
Joe’s grin spread wider, and I could tell I’d gotten his attention. “You’re on,” he said, leaning closer as if to share a secret. “But just so you know… I have a thing for spicy food.”
you laughed, brushing your hands off and glancing at the oven, which had just beeped. “Well, looks like we’ll be having cinnamon rolls first. Then we can talk about spicy dinner ideas.”
“Sounds like a plan,” he said, sliding his arm around your waist, pulling you into him for just a moment. “Now, you owe me for the kitchen hijinks. How about a taste test?”
you smirked, reaching for the first hot cinnamon roll fresh out of the oven, breaking off a piece and holding it out to him. “Taste test approved, huh? Fine by me.”
Joe took a bite, his eyes lighting up with exaggerated delight. “Not bad at all,” he said, his voice teasing once again. “But I’m pretty sure I was the one who made this happen.”
“Right,” you said, rolling your eyes again. “The cinnamon rolls wouldn’t be this good without your expert dough rolling.”
Joe grinned, leaning in closer. “Exactly.”
