the gems spend most of their time fighting in the nexus, slamming on the 'survival instinct' button, which happens to be right next to the 'animal instinct' button. as a result, they are far more Creechur than their typical posh personas would have you believe. so they got 🤝 solidarity

Bittersweet
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Rogers × Wife! Reader
Summary: Steve is mean to you all day and you have no idea why.
Warning: Angstyyyy, Steve being a jerk
You'd decided to invite all of the Avengers over for a wonderful supper because they'd just returned from a long mission. One of the main reasons you called them over was to speak with a few of them about a surprise birthday party you'd been planning for your very handsome husband for quite some time.
Steve hated parties and get-togethers, preferring to spend his time with you and your dog Dodger instead. But this time you wanted everyone to be there to celebrate him, and you had another huge surprise planned for him on the same day: you were pregnant. Yes, you're pregnant after trying so much....ahh, it's a dream come true, and you can't wait to tell Steve.
You've been so focused on the meal preparation all morning that you haven't seen Steve in what feels like an entire day. You hear footsteps enter the kitchen just as your last dish is about to go into the oven.
"I can't believe I made so many dishes....haha, I just hope they're good," you joke nervously. When you get no reaction, you turn around and find Steve looking into space. As you move over to him, you shake him awake. You guffaw, "What are you thinking about, Steve?"
"Umm...nothing. When do we expect everyone to show up?" He asks without looking you in the eyes, causing you to grimace and respond "I've asked them to come by 5.00 p.m. Are you sure you're all right?" When the oven beeps, you turn around and wait for his response. "Yeah, I am".
"All right, then, let's get dressed before they c—-" you begin but sense him leaving the room "and he's gone."
The table is set, and all the food is ready to serve. When Dodger lays by your knee and you bend down to pet him, you double-check that everything is in order "Hello, baby! Are you exhausted? Don't worry, your favourite uncle Loki will be there as well. I know you'll be excited to meet him," you say to Dodger as Steve appears in front of you, startling you, "Oh God Honey, you scared me!" you exclaim.
"So, what do you think?" You bit your lower lip, expecting him to compliment your efforts, but all you get is "huh not bad." 'Really?' you wonder, and before you can inquire as to what is wrong, the doorbell rings, indicating that everyone has arrived.
Everyone started with appetizers and some wine to get loose, chitchatting and having fun. Steve spoke to everyone but not once has looked at you which is very strange of him cause generally on gatherings he never leaves your side and keeps letting you know how amazing look that night but tonight there was nothing of that.
You start setting the table for everyone when Loki shows up, "Hey gorgeous. want a helping hand!?" he asks. "hey yes, totally" you reply and hand him the towels to fold. "So how's the bday party coming along?" he whispers. "Shuuuu....he is right there he might hear you" you stop Loki holding his biceps. Meanwhile, "Guys, how about we all get started eating?" Steve screams angrily. "Oh yeah, everything is in place!" you reply.
"So Y/n. how was shopping with your sister the other day?" Bruce suddenly asks. Shockingly you look at Loki, who has the same expression as you, "umm, it was good. she needed help with some home decor" you clear your throat. Your glance exchange with Loki didn't go unnoticed by Steve like others. You turned to face him and smiled but he just ignored you.
Everyone started their meals and you just waited to see their expressions. "Mmmm......damn girl this food is incredible. The best meal I've had in a while" Loki complimented you making you grin, all of the others agreed to his statement but the one person whom you wanted feedback from remained quiet. "Loki, look she has made your favourite pie as well" Natasha mentioned. "Haha, Y/n are you trying to kill me?" he joked. "She could've done better" you hear Steve comment lowly. "What?" you ask. "I said you were in the kitchen the whole day preparing this meal, you could've done better"
That statement broke your heart; you'd spent all day preparing this dinner, but Steve didn't enjoy it. Tears welled up in your eyes, and you kept quiet because you didn't know what to say. "Umm...Steve, what are you talking about? The food is quite tasty." Thor was perplexed. Steve sassed, "She wanted my opinion, so here it is." "On the mission, Sharon prepared excellent meals, and she did so with extremely few supplies," he continued.
You couldn't believe what you were hearing. He made a comparison between you and his ex-girlfriend. He was well aware of your insecurity when it came to her, yet he still said it. You may not have noticed a teardrop on your cheek, but Loki did. He yelled, "Steve, stop!"
"We're all here to have a nice time and eat a dinner that is, I must say, very very amazing, so just leave that be."
"Loki, I know what my wife is capable of, so it's best if you just shut up!" Steve yelled.
Not being able to hear any more of this you get up, interrupting Steve and Loki's heated stare contest. Wiping your damp cheek, you reply; "Umm, I'm sorry Steve that you didn't like my meal. I'll make sure to take lessons from Sharon the next time. Excuse me". Excusing yourself, you leave the room and head straight to your bedroom, disregarding everyone's calls.

ACOTAR AU - Bromance Book Club Edition
As the avid readers of the group, Cassian and Lucien discovered how using romance novels written by women can help them be better significant others when the time comes for them to find their person. Slowly, they start helping their other friends get their heads out of their rear-ends using the best manual there is.
*Inspired by The Bromance Book Club series by Lyssa Kay Adams!

Book I: Rhys and Feyre are experiencing marital problems they hadn't anticipated and shockingly to all (especially to the two of them), the word divorce is now on the table. They're both distraught when miscommunications and some long-kept secrets are revealed, causing Feyre to need a break from her husband. Rhys is crushed and soon drowning himself in drinks because he messed up and somehow love won't conquer all without putting in the work he didn't realize he needed to do. Rhys is inducted to book club.
Book II: Cassian knows at first glance that Nesta Archeron is the one for him since he met her at Rhys and Feyre's engagement party three years ago. However, neither of them has decided to be anything remotely nice to each other and take verbal sparring to a whole new level. When Cassian catches Nesta in a vulnerable moment and she surprisingly doesn't rip his throat out, Cassian sees his chance and decides to use all that he's learned to show Nesta just how well they would fit together. Teasing him mercilessly, the Bromance book club helps the two of them find their way to each other.
Book III: Bestest of best friends, Azriel and Gwyn's friendship started out as gym buddies that morphed into the ultimate they're in love but they're both idiots trope. His friends have watched Azriel fall head over heels for Gwyn even though Azriel insists they're just best friends. Does he love her? Absolutely. Will he do anything about it? Absolutely not. She is his person. The timing has always been off and what if his feelings mess up their friendship and what if he's a terrible boyfriend and what if this and what if that. In a vulnerable moment, Azriel ends up pushing Gwyn away thinking himself not good enough for anything more than what he’s already lucky to have with her. Wallowing in despair at his moment of stupidity that may or may not have cost him his friendship with Gwyn, the Bromance book club come to the rescue.
Book IV: Lucien and Elain have tiptoed around each other for years. Everyone thinks they'd be a perfect fit together but the pressure of trying to get to know each other with everyone's eyes on them all the time puts a sour taste on any attempts they make for dating. When Elain accidentally drags Lucien into a fake-dating scenario that requires the two of them to pretend they're madly in love, Elain implores Lucien to play along for a month leading up to an event her ex-boyfriend will be attending so she can give Graysen her best 'suck it' face. Lucien decides to pull all the stops and show Elain exactly how excellent boyfriend material he is. The Bromance book club is more than ready to help Elain see just how real Lucien's feelings are for her.
Book V: Jurian and Vassa are constantly at each other's throats even though they want to be deep in kisses. Jurian is rough around the edges, doesn't have a romantic bone in his body, and generally puts his foot in his mouth so often that when Vassa decides that she's tired of waiting for him to do something about it, she asks him out. Jurian is so surprised, his only response is to laugh which promptly shuts down any positive feelings Vassa has towards him, embarrassing her, and ruining something Jurian was dying to have. The Bromance book club helps him come up with a multiple-step plan that involves very emotionally mature activities (paintball being first on the list so she can shoot him as much as she wants) that prove exactly how in love he is with her but he's just an idiot.
Book VI: Eris Vanserra doesn't fall in love. That is just a waste of his time and frankly, he's way too attractive to be tied down to one person. He likes to have one-night stands to have a good time and be on his merry way — working hard, making money, and potentially making his employees cry. This all comes to a full stop when his eyes fall on a beautiful girl he hadn't seen before sitting in his favorite bar. When he approaches her utilizing his usual methods, all she does is give him a dirty look and pour her drink over his head. His heart does a weird spasm after she insults him and walks away, and Eris threats the bartender to give whatever information he has on the girl. Never admitting the Bromance book club was an actual thing before, Eris now has the audacity to demand his brother and his dumb friends help him get the girl. The Bromance book club take extra joy in picking the mushiest things possible for him to do. (Yes, this is about Iris and only Iris. Eiris for life y'all.)
Bonus Novellas:
Kallias x Viviane: High school sweethearts that got married straight out of college, these two are everyone's OTP. When Kallias starts noticing that Viviane is less like herself lately, he starts to wonder what's going on but figures she'll let him know if something isn't right since she always does. He soon figures out that she feels unappreciated and that their relationship is in a rut of routine where nothing exciting happens and that Kallias barely notices her anymore. Crushed by the realization that he's making his wife feel anything less than loved unconditionally, he asks his friends to bring the Bromance magic into his life and rekindle the sparks in his relationship with his favorite person.
Varian x Amren: "No one approaches Amren. She approaches you." is what they all said to Varian but he is a sucker for mean girls who secretly aren't so mean at all. He enlists the Bromance book club to help him win over his ice queen. He likes her as she is, he just wants her to like him too.
Mor x Emerie: Mor, who has never had an issue with falling in love and falling hard, decides to be extra careful when it comes to the stunning and wonderful Emerie. The Bromance delight in giving Mor advice she doesn't need because, as she says, "I am a woman, this is the one time I especially don't need men telling me what to do." Instead, she enlists the help of the Bromance book club sisterhood to give Emerie the grand romance gesture of her dreams.
