i think it was like. a genuinely evil creative decision to have shawn hunter marry the gender swapped narrative equivalent to his dead neglectful father in girl meets world. like theres no way to go around it katy is explicitly to maya what chet was to shawn, that is purposefully set up by the writers so i dont understand why it was then decided for the two of them to end up together.

He would not fucking do that #he wouldnt marry a woman hes barely known a year . he just wouldnt do that #u cant expect me to believe a character with such deeprooted issues with intimacy and attachment #and a very well known history of being incapable of comitting #would just get married to this one woman because he relates to her daughter and feels parental towards her #the shawn/maya dynamic js a whole other thing i just dont buy it at all. no chemistry in the slightest #but like. u really want me to accept that he wld just do that #the only way i can rationalize it in my head is if its another example of him chasing after what cory and topanga have #bc just like how cory attempted to emulate shawns romantic endeavors in childhood #in their late teens and well into adulthood shawn is just aimlessly chasing what corpanga have #that was his whole MO dating angela. he is always pining after this idea of being Like Cory and Topanga #helping push the idea that their relationship is Ideal and Perfect bc its become such a constsnt in his life #him rushing jnto a relationship with this woman he hasnt known all that long #Could just be a way to mimic the way cory and topanga also rushed into marriage #anyways sorry that all roads lead back to shory adjacent conspiracies #i just dont like shaty.
