I really hope you still accept requests for Obi-Wan! Would love to see some Padawan!Obi-Wan x ftm!reader.
Maybe him being on a mission with Qui-Gon to act as security for the reader who’s royalty. They grow really close, develop feelings, and reader tells him that he’s trans and is worried Obi-Wan’s gonna hate him for it. Obi-Wan is just like??? and kisses the reader because he can’t put into words how much the reader means to him.
Hope this is not too complicated <33 thanks!!
Call it Destiny | Padawan!Obi-Wan Kenobi x Trans!Male!Reader
Hello there! I always accept requests for all the characters I write for, so no worries! I was actually very excited to finally write for Obi-Wan again, so thank you. :') Thanks for this lovely request, it wasn't complicated at all, and I really hope you like what I've done with it! <3
summary; See above.
notes; Trans!Male!Reader; Reader is a Prince; Strangers to Friends to Lovers; Referenced Death Threats (aka hella uncreative Plot Device); Referenced Transphobia; Love Confessions; First Kiss; Light Angst and Fluff.
After there had been some threats made against your life, your parents, your advisors and the Jedi Council thought it best to send two of their best Jedi to protect you, while they searched for the people behind those threats. Even though you couldn’t deny that the death threats scared you a bit, you also thought that they all made a much bigger fuzz about it than there needed to be.
With a defeated sigh, you got yourself ready to meet the Jedi. It was only temporary after all.
“Prince Y/N, my name is Qui-Gon Jinn and this is my Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. We’ve been sent to protect you and your family,” the Jedi master introduced himself and his apprentice, once you had arrived in the throne room to greet them.
“Pleased to meet you,” you said politely, “Thank you for coming all the way out to Kreulah. Make yourself at home and do whatever you must to ensure the safety of my people and myself. If you shall ever need anything that I may grant you, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
The apprentice - Obi-Wan, you reminded yourself - smiled and Qui-Gon nodded, thanking you for your hospitality.
Then they were escorted out again, leaving you, your parents and your personal advisor alone for the time being, while Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were shown to their chambers in the castle.
“You did well, Y/N. You’re getting better at accepting your duties,” your mother said, laying a hand on your shoulder and squeezing it.
“Thank you, mother,” you responded automatically. “May I leave? I’ve got some studies I wanted to finish,” you asked then, lying about the studies. You just wanted to be alone, but you were more likely to be let go if you pretended that you had something important to do.
Fortunately, she granted your wish, though, and you were off to stay in your room until you were needed again.
While you were on your way to your chambers, you thought about the Jedi again. You found that they seemed nice enough. They were definitely skilled, otherwise your parents wouldn’t have approved of them, and they were said to be some of their best.
Nonetheless, your thoughts barely revolved around that. Instead, they always went back to Obi-Wan, the Padawan. He was handsome and had a gorgeous smile, you thought.
Perhaps it would only be half as bad to have them orbiting you to protect you for the foreseeable future, considering the eye candy you’ve been graced with.
______
During the first couple of days, all interactions with the Jedi were awkward as could be for you.
Qui-Gon was incredibly stubborn, worse than your father even. You knew he was just trying to do what he came here for, but it still annoyed you when he gave you instructions and didn’t allow you to talk back.
Obi-Wan only ever looked at you with an apologetic smile, then, as he gently attempted to talk back for you and reason with his master,  which you thought was entirely too cute and usually calmed you down enough to be more rational and royalty-like again.
“I promise, he has his reason to keep you inside your room at all times for now,” Obi-Wan told you, after Qui-Gon left the two of you alone in your chambers to take care of something else.
Nodding, you sighed, “I’m certain he does. I just hate this entire thing if I’m being honest. I’m royalty, of course there are going to be death threats against me! Doesn’t mean there’s an actual threat out there.” Now you were pouting, but you couldn’t help yourself. You were upset.
Obi-Wan chuckled softly, which he immediately apologised for. Then he looked at you with a small smile and said, “That may be true, but your parents are concerned and so is everyone else around you. Even if there is no one out there that would follow through with their threats, they still need to be taken seriously. If those were threats against someone you love, you wouldn’t tell them off and say that it’s not real anyway, would you?”
Looking at Obi-Wan for a long moment, you rolled your eyes fondly and scoffed, “No, I wouldn’t. You may have a point there.”
Obi-Wan beamed brightly at you in response and you both laughed, unable to stop yourself.
You liked him. You really did. And that was more dangerous and frightening to you than those threats were.
______
Weeks later, you would consider Obi-Wan and yourself friends even. And wasn’t that ironic? You hadn’t wanted him to be there in the first place, and now you didn’t want him to leave any time soon, if ever, really.
Over those weeks, he and Qui-Gon have been guarding you when you needed to be outside, and inside the castle you were still forced to stay in your chambers with Obi-Wan, which helped you two grow closer and closer with each passing day.
To pass the time, you talked a lot. You asked him a bunch of questions about his life as a Jedi. At some point he even showed you how to meditate properly, and now you always took an hour out of your day to do just that with Obi-Wan.
Unfortunately (or rather fortunately in some way), Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan haven’t really gotten anywhere with the threats yet. They’ve had some suspects, who all turned out to not have been it, while more and more threats piled up. By now you were mostly bored of them. They didn’t really get any more creative, just more violent, which should have probably scared you, but with nothing happening it was hard to be afraid.
“May I ask,” Obi-Wan started one day while you were sitting in your chambers, passing the time, “Do you have any idea why this person would want you dead?”
“If I knew, then I’d probably know who they were, too,” you retorted, “So, no. But I kind of do have a feeling.”
“What kind of feeling?” he inquired further, looking at you curiously.
“Not important,” you quickly answered, regretting it as soon as it left your mouth.
Why had you said that you had a feeling at all? Yes, you had a guess that it was probably because you were openly transgender (not necessarily by choice with being such a public figure), and a lot of people didn’t like that, going as far as to say that they would want to kill you to get rid of scum like you. So, of course you had a feeling. But you didn’t want to tell Obi-Wan that. He would hate you too if he knew about it, you were almost certain of it.
“Y/N,” Obi-Wan sighed in exasperation - and by the Almighty you loved that he’s stopped putting ‘prince’ in front of your name by now, “You should probably tell me what it is, though, considering I’m here to protect you.”
“Maybe another time? I just- I don’t think it’s actually that important right now, and I really don’t want to talk about it. At least not now,” you tried talking yourself out of it.
Defeated, Obi-Wan nodded, “Fine. But I shall ask you about this again.”
“Fair enough,” you said.
______
Another couple of weeks passed.
By now, you couldn’t deny your feelings for the Jedi. Obi-Wan had you wrapped around his little finger and he probably didn’t even know it. You wanted to tell him, almost to a desperate level; but there was this issue that you still hadn’t even told him that you were trans.
Although it wasn’t a problem per se.
It was just that you wanted to let him know because you were scared that he would indeed hate you for it, and if you were already a couple by that time, you wouldn’t be able to handle the loss. Part of you knew that if he rejected you now, you would be just as bad at handling it; but at least you wouldn’t have known what it could have been like with him.
And slowly but surely, your time to tell him was running out as well. There were more and more clues to the identity of who has been sending you those threats. Qui-Gon was certain that they would be able to apprehend this person very soon, which put a lot of pressure on you, in terms of your feelings for Obi-Wan.
So, after you had just meditated with him, you were pacing in your room. Whatever calmness the meditation had brought you had been gone in an instant when you looked at Obi-Wan and thought about how gorgeous and kind he was, and how much you loved him. You had never loved anyone like this before. It scared you, but it also fulfilled you in a sort of way you hadn’t expected.
“Y/N, what’s going on? Why are you so restless?” Obi-Wan asked you, fixing you with a concerned expression.
You stopped in your tracks for a moment and looked at him, taking in the sight of him sitting cross-legged on the floor with his too big robe pooling in his lap. He was adorable and, oh, so handsome like this.
Overwhelmed, you resumed your pacing.
“I have to tell you some things and it scares me because I don’t know how you’ll react and I don’t want to lose you,” you answered after all, avoiding his gaze as you walked back and forth.
“You can tell me anything,” Obi-Wan said kindly, “Whatever it is. I’m never one to judge harshly.”
Exhaling slowly, you stopped your pacing altogether, let your shoulders slump and sat down across from Obi-Wan on the floor.
Nodding to prepare yourself, you inhaled deeply and explained, “I’m transgender. Which means I was born a girl and transitioned to bring out the boy that I’ve always been through the help of hormones and surgery. And, uh, a lot of people didn’t take well to those news. I’ve actually been getting death threats ever since, which is why I’ve not been taking them too seriously. That’s also the feeling I have about the current threats. I feel like everything comes down to the fact that I’m trans.”
You paused for a second to gather yourself.
“And I’m afraid that you’re gonna hate me, too. Because why wouldn’t you? Everybody else does!” you admitted with your voice breaking as it rose an octave at your last statement.
Before you could really comprehend what was happening, Obi-Wan’s hands were on your face, cradling it gently, and then his lips were on yours, kissing you chastely.
“I apologise,” Obi-Wan whispered, after parting from you, but you didn’t let him get too far and grabbed him by his robe to pull him back in and place another lingering, more passionate kiss on his lips.
When you broke it, you smiled at him, “That’s actually the other thing I wanted to tell you, Obi. I love you.”
“Force,” Obi-Wan whispered before kissing you again, “I love you, too, Y/N. That's actually what I've been trying to convey by kissing you,” he murmured against your lips with a soft chuckle.
Sighing in relief, you closed your eyes and just let what happened sink in.
When you opened your eyes again and looked at Obi-Wan, he smiled at you ever so gently. His hands let go of your face and took your palms into his instead.
“I just wanted to say that I’m sorry to know what you’ve had to go through, Y/N. That must be really difficult for you. And I don’t have a problem with it at all. What you do with your body and who you are, who or what you identify as, it’s none of my business. It’s your choice, your life and especially your happiness. Which is all I care about for that matter. And I don’t understand why someone would want you dead over something that doesn’t hurt anybody,” Obi-Wan told you softly, stroking his thumbs over the backs of your hands.
Shrugging, you chuckled wryly, “I don’t know or understand it either, but that’s the world I live in, unfortunately.”
“I actually know a lot of people with all kinds of different identities on Coruscant. I’m wondering if you would be able to come with us when my master and I are going back soon,” he said and you could see his eyes light up at the notion of you coming with them. It warmed your heart.
“We could certainly talk to my parents about it,” you smiled, “But are you sure Qui-Gon would allow that?”
“He’s one who bends the rules all the time. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t mind,” Obi-Wan responded with a cheeky grin.
“Really? The guy who’s been insisting that I stay in my chambers at pretty much all times is known for bending the rules?” you asked incredulously.
Obi-Wan just nodded enthusiastically, laughing at your surprised expression, which only made you join in his laughter. You could never resist.
Once you’ve sobered up, you leaned in and kissed him again, pecking his lips over and over, as you murmured in-between, “I’m happy I’ve met you, my dear.”
You could feel him smile against your lips, “Me too.”
No matter what your parents’ answer was going to be, in terms of you leaving Kreulah, you would make sure you got to see Obi-Wan again.
