[ meet the prisoners! (t2 edition) ] prisoner 001: miyagawa akio
it's time for everyone's t2 profiles!
i just wanna mention that since these profiles are made for their t2 versions, they won't have things like age, occupation, height, etc, for obvious reasons. they also won't have mv descriptions this time and their mvs will be described in their voice dramas.
but you can read about their t2 relationship dynamics here! not all of them will be described, but only the important ones, but you can also ask me about other dynamics.
okay, time to talk about how the first prisoner is doing! (not well. he's doing terrible actually.)
(Warnings for description of Akio's injuries, mentions of his suicide attempt and him still wanting to die, implications of self-harm and mentions of choking)
General info.
T1 Verdict: Akio was voted guilty and was punished by Eiji as a result. His punishment was mostly physical, but he was left with a psychological kind of trauma after that as well. He was the first guilty prisoner to be punished and Eiji says that he got a little bit excited because of that and that's why Akio's injuries ended up being worse than Eiji has planned. He got a head injury after his punishment and he also has a lot of cuts and bruises on his arms and there's some of them on his legs as well. Eiji and Miki don't know how serious his injury actually is and Miki is afraid that Akio's life will either become much harder because of it or he might actually end up dying because of it if he doesn't get any professional help. It's definitely harder for him to do a lot of things now, like walking, reading, talking, etc, and he often needs help with those things, but according to Eiji, he can talk just fine when he has to talk to the guards. However, Akio still ends up getting tired after talking for some time and if someone forces him to keep talking, his words stop making any sense because of how tired he is and he starts saying completely random things that don't have anything to do with what's going on around him.
T2 Personality: Akio is more quiet now and for understandable reasons. His eyes look more empty, his hair is more messy and he has noticeable dark circles since it's too hard for him to fall asleep now because of all the pain.. and also something else. After Riku basically told him to go and kill himself, Akio has completely stopped talking to him, not because he doesn't want to talk to Riku anymore, but because Aimi is too worried about him and doesn't want Riku to hurt him again. Aimi is the only prisoner Akio can be seen with now and other prisoners don't really try to help him, though Naomi offers to take care of him if Aimi can't do that for some reason. He often feels like his head is spinning because of his injury and he mentioned his vision becoming more and more blurry because of that, so now he has to ask Aimi to read his books out loud for him. Because of the incident that was mentioned earlier, Akio sometimes thinks that it's better for him to just die already than continue to live like this, though he refuses to talk about it. Well, maybe Miki is right and his injury actually is serious and he will die soon anyway, haha.. People also never hear him say anything "smart" anymore because even thinking can be too painful for him sometimes. But now they can often hear him quietly repeating something to himself to calm himself down when he's too anxious and Aimi swears she heard Akio say someone's name when he had one of those moments. He's also not so self-confident anymore and he actually thinks he's useless now, though Aimi is the only person who knows about how much he hates himself now. Looks like this boy has always thought that his intelligence was his only good quality and now that even talking or reading requires way too much energy.. he doesn't want to keep living like this.
T2 Relationship dynamics:
As you can tell, Akio and Aimi are much closer now and people see them together all the time. Aimi claims she's genuinely worried about Akio and wants to help him and Akio doesn't push her away anymore. When it's too hard for him to talk, Aimi still understands him perfectly and never forces him to say anything if he doesn't want to or just can't do that at the moment. Whenever she hears Akio say something bad about himself, she quickly makes him take his words back and says that he's still smart and talented, it's just that he needs some time to recover and everything will be okay again. At least she hopes so. Akio is also surprisingly protective of Aimi now and whenever he hears Eiji say something like "We should have voted her guilty", he gets really mad at him and reminds Eiji that Akio is still alive only because of Aimi. Losing a prisoner so early probably wouldn't be good for Eiji's job, would it?
Naomi is still nice to the younger prisoners (not counting Asahi), so if Aimi needs help with taking care of Akio, she agrees to spend time with him. Akio doesn't like her as much as he likes Aimi, but he's secretly glad that there's at least one more person who cares about him or at least good at making him feel like she cares about him. When Aimi asked her what she thinks about Akio's injury as the oldest prisoner here, she said that she doesn't know how serious it actually is, but she thinks Akio is strong enough to survive at least until the end of the third trial.. unless he gets punished again.
Asahi's relationship with Akio is even worse now, during his T1 interrogation Akio has said that he finds Asahi one of the most annoying prisoners here and he still thinks so. When nobody else is around, Asahi likes to make fun of Akio's condition and says it's funny to watch his self-esteem go down when it was so high in the past. Akio claims that he doesn't care what Asahi thinks since he's just a kid, but deep down.. of course he cares. Of course Asahi is making his situation even worse.
Yeah, Riku and Akio's relationship is not good now. Both of them try their best to avoid each other and when they have no choice but to spend time together or talk to each other, their conversations always end up being really awkward. Like, how are you supposed to talk to the guy who has almost killed himself because of you/the guy who told you to go and die after you asked him for help? Every time Akio hears Riku say that it wasn't his fault, he starts feeling both extremely angry and extremely sad at the same time. Of course he wants him to shut up and admit that it was his fault, but.. he also can't deny that Riku is nothing but a replacement of his accomplice to him. Of course Riku wouldn't be happy to hear that. His reaction was understandable.
Akio hates both guards with passion and whenever they talk to him, he always calls them out for what they both did to him. Yes, he thinks it's Miki's fault too. Sure, maybe he's not dead because she stopped Eiji before he could kill him, but did she try to change his mind? Akio still ended up being punished and Miki didn't even try to stop Eiji from doing that (at least that's what Akio thinks). And if Akio had a chance, he would've killed Eiji a long time ago.
Music info.
Milgram cover: Listen. I might be wrong. Maybe it actually won't fit him at all. But don't you think it would be cool to hear him cover The Purge March. Yes, it's not even out yet. I don't care, I still want him to cover it. Like, even from the song preview I can feel those Akio vibes, LIKE THE LYRICS DESCRIBE HIS CRIME SO WELL TOO..
DECO*27 cover: (Not) A Devil. I feel like I don't even have to explain anything. Like come on, the religious theme, denying that "you're the Devil", LIKE COME ON. Also I can imagine him singing the Devil parts with his T1 voice, like, sounding more confident and proud and singing the Angel parts with his T2 voice, sounding more tired, but soft at the same time.
Different Vocaloid producer cover: I had to fight the urge to give him three religion-themed covers because it's actually a different prisoner who will get a MV with some religious imagery this time so I decided to go with Egoist by Paseri Onuma. Listen, listen, it makes sense to me. First of all, lots of orange there which is Akio's second image color and also Riku's main image color. Second of all, the lyrics and the song in general have really strong T2 Akio vibes, like yes, GO CRAZY SHOW HOW ANGRY (and sad) YOU ARE YOU GOT HURT BY BOTH EIJI AND RIKU!! And also there's something about Akio, who was the "smartest student of his class" and now can't do anything "cool" and "smart" because of his condition, saying things like "Let me go home early" and "Let me withdraw from school" is. It breaks my heart, yeah.
His T2 Trailer Voicelines:
".. I-it's you two.. D-don't even look at me. Leave me alone. Both of you.. Both of you are insane. One of you did all of this to me and the other one just ignored it and pretended not to see it!.. H-how can you two be the guards of this place??.. W-would I be a better guard than you two?.. I-I'm not so sure anymore."
".. W-why? Why did it go wrong? You told me that everything will be fine, everything will be under your control, but- I DIDN'T WANT THIS, YOU IDIOT!"
His T2 Song Trailer Voiceline:
"I just wanted to be loved by my classmates, is that too much to ask for?"
Trivia:
Of course, he still wants to be voted innocent, and not only because he still believes his crime wasn't his fault and his victim deserved it, but because he doesn't want to die.
The reason why he has bandages on his neck as well is because he says that he keeps seeing.. someone in his cell every night and that someone tries to choke him and doesn't let him fall asleep. And the thing is that the marks and scratches on his neck actually make it seem like someone has really tried to choke him. Eiji thinks Akio is actually doing all of this to himself, but thinks it's someone else's fault either because of his condition, him losing his sanity or.. maybe this place knows a different way to punish its prisoners.
Yes, his second image color being almost the same as Riku's main color was done on purpose.
#not a lot of trivia this time sorry about that!#i have a feeling he's most likely going to be voted inno this time but also#again he still thinks he was in the right so..#it's like. do you think it's better for this 16 y/o boy who thinks his classmate deserved to die bc he was more popular-#to be killed or do you think it's better for him to keep that mindset#(his mv's ending gives me chills every time i read it. like i think watching something like that live would be so scary)#about that one second fact in the end: this is also why his album cover looks like that#like. it's kinda supposed to confirm eiji's theory so 😔#milgram#milgram oc#milgram project#ocgram#👑prisoner 001: miyagawa akio👑#👤 profiles 👤

More serious summary of the livestream
Unfortunately I can't provide a full translation because the entire time I was watching in autistic excitement like 😊🥰🤩 whilst my brain melted out my ears and didn't pick up on a lot
Luckily, I have a feeling someone will get around to translating this stream eventually since they finally had the BGM on a lower volume so everyone was audible the whole time Without further ado:
We started with introductions seating order is Yamanaka, Yurina (Es' VA), Minami (Amane's VA), Ryouta (Kazui's VA) and DECO (who dyed his hair blonde) They each have one of the 4th anniversary acrylic stands in front of them The actors have their characters but Yamanaka has Haruka and DECO has Muu
Yamanaka admitted to being a Haruka oshi/fan
Then Minami talks about being a Fuuta fan (she calls him cool) and she's handed the Fuuta stand and she pushes the Fuuta and Amane stand next to each other (and jokes about their height difference then imitates Fuuta going zenbu zenbu zenbu!)
But then Yurina sticks her Es stand in between them to separate them
And then they move the Amane stand next to the Kazui one and everyone coos
Before moving Amane and Fuuta back together in front of Minami Then they basically just lift all of the stands up on to the table and continue on
They discuss their thoughts on the trial
Looking at who got voted inno and guilty Minami is happy Amane got inno but has no idea how Mikoto wasn't guilty They note that the audience wasn't very happy with Kotoko for beating up the other prisoners Then they give some thoughts on the MVs from Daisuki to Deep cover They get most excited talking about Cat and Purge March Kazui says that he was able to put the right emotions into Cat because he recorded the voice drama first Yurina and Minami actually caused the microphone to peak with their excited shrieks at one point (ow)
They answer some audience submitted questions One question was answered along the lines of "Be prepared" One was submitted in English and they tried to but couldn't read it Then they got a question (in Japanese) from someone from 韓国/South Korea [side note: I feel like the south korean milgram fandom has gotten more prominent recently, its always been there but it feels bigger than ever and that's pretty cool]
After audience questions they made a few announcements Some things we already knew, the gratte cafe crossover, the Kotoko line stickers, Earbuds are still on sale (and they're making badges and stuff based on the earbud promo art) the 4th anniversary art/acrylici stands literally in front of them Then some new things: Minigram LINE stamps (everyone was especially pleased for the Kazui XP stamp) There's going to be a part 2 to the Karaoke collab (no details yet other than its coming)
They also announce this year's perk for annual members [the pain of being an annual member but living outside of Japan so you can't get these 😭] Blank lamenated cards of the prisoner's interrogations and a whiteboard pen so you can write your own interro questions and answers They bring out the cards for Kazui and Amane and do some examples
"Do you like cake?" "I don't eat it."
"What did you have for lunch today?" "Gyudon." [a beef and rice dish]
Then Minami just writes "Toilet paper" in katakana and everyone laughs (Then she writes Toilet paper rap/lap/wrap and I'm not sure what she means)
Most exciting is script books for the Hallucenation liveshow (scripts of the voice dramas and songs) The live show uses condensed versions of the voice dramas but this is the first time we'll have official transcripts of key moments to help check translations with
Then they start saying that T2 was hellish, but T3 is going to go beyond hell: They're going to send everyone to Super Hell And at this point my brain fries and overloads on eeby deeby memes as they all go back and forth talking about Super Hell
They all start doing their outros/saying goodbye
Yurina talks about upcoming challenges we have as guards meanwhile Yamanaka ominously holds the Haruka stand up in frame
Then that's basically it, not much going on because a lot of stuff (like Hallucenation, the plushes, earbuds) came out right before the 4th anniversary

Why I'm Voting Inno Mikoto even tho He Definitely Did It
or should I say DID i-*🏏smacked*
TL;DR like many I do not believe a word John says, but I also don't think he has the entire truth. Meanwhile Mikoto's amnesia is near undoubtable. With two unreliable narrators and solid evidence of self-defense, I think we need more before declaring him guilty.
I'm here to be Mikoto's lawyer cuz John ily but you suck at it 😭
Now onto why I'm voting Inno:
Mikoto isn't lying when he says he doesn't remember murdering those people, at least not entirely. The memory is in his subconscious, but he can't even remember the faces of his victims because they were both so out of it.
I believe what we see in MeMe is safe to assume to be his first. The first mannequin smashed onscreen is this one:
That looks like a damn FNAF jumpscare lmao this tells me that his baseball hobby probably saved him from getting jumped at that train station, but it came at a heavy price.
That's where John comes in. To handle the feelings that undoubtedly came with taking a life and having to hide the evidence.
Generally in DID alter's memories fall into one of 3 categories (my observations of myself and other systems):
That event happened. These are all the details. I feel nothing about it.
That event happened and I remember everything I felt like it was seconds ago, but I couldn't tell you specifics
That event happened??
The latter two can safely be assigned to John and Bokukoto. The first one is what we're missing.
I saw someone point out how the train could symbolize that he can never go back (credit urself in the tags if u see this it was a good one) to before he killed.
That brings me to our final scene.
Remember how John split to handle the feelings of that stressor? The feeling of unsafety, pure adrenaline, and righteous anger at the attacker is a horrific thing, but once you experience it you change. In order for an alter to handle the reality of something, it must be accepted somehow. John's way of accepting it is not remembering their faces, only his expressions and actions. That's probably why he's so aggressive; constant fight-or-flight mode.
Mikoto (Bokukoto), like with whatever happened to him in early childhood to cause DID, is unable to accept these realities because doing so would shatter his world (it turns out constant fight-or-flight isn't great for your social life).
So about John's statement that he didn't know any of the victims even though he totally did, at least a little;
John is reading the room and there it is: unsafety, pure adrenaline, and righteous anger at the attacker. That's all he needs to feel to know that it's time to protect Mikoto.
That's not the face and mannerisms of a man who bashes skulls in for kicks. This shit was personal.
I can't tell if it's one or two victims in the second clip here, but I strongly believe they had something to do with his work. His subconscious is really harping on how much his boss got on him and how stressed it made him. Something happened that pushed them over the edge. You don't call your mom after you kill for fun (or maybe you do idk). You call your mom when you know you're fucked.
John initiated the second killing but I don't think he was the only one making a conscious decision. That said, I don't have enough details to condemn Mikoto to another unforgiven verdict.
So, where will we find that info? Well remember RGB Mikoto/Trikoto theory (kudos to whoever coined those too)? Well when I broke down the compartmentalization earlier I hinted that there's a strong chance that SOMEONE remembers every detail, but feels nothing and lays dormant.
Good old green Mikoto, the only one we haven't seen speak yet the one who's given us the most detail so far (via MeMe).
Even if not and Bokukoto remembers more than he's letting on/gets in contact with John, the crime itself isn't unforgivable beyond a shadow of a doubt yet even with multiple victims. His reasons are still cloudy.
Also I like him

Continuing on "Haru's quest to annoy FF about every character in Milgram because they had the bad luck of getting interested in it basically at the same time he did" (/lh) Next on the list of prisoners is Fuuta. I remember you once said that he's one of your favorites along with Amane, Mikoto, and Muu, so I'm interested to hear you cover him !
Ah, so that’s why you’re doing this, your character motivation. The lore thickens. /lh
Yeah, I like Fuuta quite a bit. I’m always a sucker for protag foils, and since we can consider Es and even ourselves as the protag(s), then obviously I was going to love Fuuta. His views on justice are really interesting when considering we kinda do the same thing he ended up in Milgram for, deciding on people’s fates with horribly incomplete information and trying to justify to ourselves why we’re in the right for causing these people psychological pain. Not like it’s gonna stop me from voting people guilty when I think it’s deserved though lol.
CW: Cyberbullying, mention of suicide and murder.
(T2) Q9: How do you feel about the first trials results?
F: You’re the same as me.
Oh yeah that’s the good shit right there.
That is certainly a huge factor, Fuuta is great as a reflection to some of Milgram’s main themes and I love him for that. Even if his personality is maybe reminiscent of some other characters I’ve seen (when did Xander Matthews and Ace Markey have a secret love-child and why does he have a Bakugo complex), he’s still unique enough that I don’t see it as much of a problem.
And let’s not kid ourselves. Part of me enjoying a character sometimes comes from loving their song, and not only is Bring it On a banger like no other, Backdraft is probably my favorite Milgram song.
There’s also just a certain amount of hilarity that comes with the fact that people in Trial 1 managed to inno someone they believed to be a damn organ harvester then turn around and guilty my guy for having a Twitter account. Truly the most unforgivable of crimes.
It’s especially interesting now with Backdraft the theories around his “murder”, because I actually think it may be one of the more unclear ones in terms of what happened. You might have seen there’s a theory he wasn’t the one to start the witch hunt on the girl that ended up dying, which I find is quite believable even if we still have to explain what was going on with that photo he took of someone’s home in his Undercover silhouette thing. But what’s even crazier to me is the goddamn Undercover kill shot where his victim has both shoes on, unlike Mahiru’s and Kazui’s. Does this imply it wasn’t a suicide? Is it because whoever has the orange spray paint that shoots really straight at the one graffiti’s forehead actually murdered the girl themselves? But Fuuta still got blamed for it?
Hey remember when I said the more headache inducing a character the more I’m going to love them?
Anyways, I also think it’s cool how much Backdraft references the events during Milgram themselves. I love Es appearing in a prisoner’s song, too, especially with the whole “the one shadow from Purge March kinda looks like Es thing”-
Oh yeah Amane! I love her dynamic with Fuuta so, so much. They’re so cool and awesome and great and I hope Fuuta doesn’t get too indoctrinated but also I think it’d be kinda funny. I don’t think it would happen though, I trust big bro Fuuta will help Amane reject her cult’s teachings please I need them to have a wholesome ending where they just eat cake and play video games together you know Amane would beat his ass in any game even though she’s probably never touched a videogame in her life-
I am immensely normal about them, as you can clearly tell.
Anyways, some other things which I find really interesting.
(T1) Q1: What is a friend?
F: Folks you can get hyped over the same thing with
(T2) Q16: Do you have a lot of online friends?
F: I don't know if we were friends or not. There were times when we had fun together. But I don't know if I can call it that.
Am I reading this wrong or did my guy change his definition of what a friend is specifically to exclude his old friends? Because that’s some crazy character development right there.
(T1) Q9: Do you have apologetic feelings for who you killed?
F: I never killed anyone. Didn't you hear me? I thought you were a guard!
(T2) Q6: Do you remember the name of the person you killed?
F: I'm pretty sure I do. I saw it often after all.
So he’s admitting he did kill someone in a way. More character development.
(T1) Q10: Which prisoner do you get along with the most?
F: I'm not anyone's happy friend. Well Haruka's younger, so I take care of him.
(T2) Q2: How do you feel about Haruka?
F: This isn't the time to worry about other people. Plus it's not like he's a kid either.
More changes, my guy really is very different from trial 1 himself and I think that makes him extremely compelling.
Okay I need to stop or I’m gonna be here forever, this guy is just all kinds of silly. Anyways, love him. Please don’t get indoctrinated into Amane’s cult.
(T2) Q14: What are you thinking about now?
F: Maybe because I'm anxious, but I want something to rely on.
Please. Fuuta you’re like the only one there who might be able to reach her Fuuta please.
Anyways, I gotta go before those two rot my brain further. Hope you enjoyed! Take care!

i just wanna say that i love how the polls have vine references so much 😭😭
also about rin's guilty vote. listen, at first i planned to vote him inno, but.. he's one of the most difficult prisoners for me to understand and no matter how many times i read his mv description (i will return soon with another mv analysis most likely!!) , i still don't understand what he did SHSJJSKS. so it would make more sense for me to vote him innocent, but. i have a bad feeling and also! i didn't want him to get too proud after getting an innocent verdict. ALSO I JUST KINDA BECAME A HARUTO KINNIE FOR A MOMENT AND WENT "he's kinda annoying. cute, but still annoying. someone needs to teach him a lesson" it's a joke i love rin i love characters like that but still. he needs to understand that what he did was MOST LIKELY wrong
(also currently going insane over the fact that ichiro got like. no innocent votes at all and akio will most likely be voted guilty too. sorry kings that's just how life is)
Thank you! XD I wanted to spice up the polls somehow, and that's what I came up with sksksksksk
If I couldn't think of a vine that would suit someone, I would go through my previous meme reblogs and put in something from there instead. Yui's poll is the only one that doesn't have a vine or meme reference, it has two translated lines from newjean's OMG instead!
I can understand why you'd be confused about Rin. 😭 His MV doesn't reveal anything about his crime at all. His vine reference gives a little hint to his motive though. Ahaha, but was voting him guilty really the best choice? We shall see.
I can't see the results of the polls until the time is up (the waiting is torture), so it's nice to know how Ichiro's results are going rn. 😭 Hey, at least he and Akio get to match?

I NEED TO SAY THIS: I READ THE ASK GAME AND YOU ACTUALLY CHANGNED MY OPIION ABOUT ROLLO?? BUT LIKE CONSIDER, NOT JUST MC AND ROLLO, BUT LIKE. WHAT ABOUT ROLLO AND RUGGIE INTERACTING?? MAYBE RIDDLE??? POSSIBLY EVEN IDIA AND ORTHO??!! ITS JUST LIKE, THEYRE SO. MANY! THINGS THEY CAN DO WITH HIS CHARACTER??!!! And then about yuno: imma be honest. I dont think her murder was abortion. She never even really confirmed it. She said she THINKS her murder was abortion, but that doesn't mean its official "oh she did abortion thats her murder" unless its confirmed by the mvs. My main reason for thinking this is that certain evidence in undercover doesn't line up with the mvs. For instance, the scene of her crime on her card, the image of her standing at the top of some stairs, hell even her final black out pose with as doesn't look like abortion to me. But I digress. I feel like with yuno people do the exact same thing with malleyuu. "Oh someone said (blank) so therefore its cannon." There is such a thing as "misleading" fandom like come on😑. Anyway I just had to get that off my chest let me know your opinion 🤗
i'm glad i did!! it means i did my job well 🫡 and yes rollo's character has such a huge potential, it's really a shame that he's supposed to be an event-only character. i wish they could let him interact with idia more too, since.. yeah, their backstories. imagining his interactions with ortho makes me so sad too.. again, i really hope there will be a part 2, since rollo literally said that they will meet again very soon and also i just have no idea what else they could do for this year's halloween event (since masquerade kinda was a halloween event) and also [2] this event was so successful, like if i was a twst dev i would be writing like multiple sequels already JSKDKLSLDLSD.
and yeah, i kinda say that yuno's crime was most likely abortion just for simplicity's sake, but her case really is weird. it's like, i understand why some people say that it makes sense for her murder to be like that (like why would she lie about it or something like milgram is supposed to make you think about what exactly do you consider murder and what you don't and i also just think they were a bit surprised to get so many fans overseas who are also all (or at least almost all) pro-choice), but the way she said it is so. like girl why do you "think" it was your murder. maybe it's just a manner of speech, like maybe she said it like that because it was supposed to show how cold she is and how she doesn't care about anything, but also i'm that person who always goes "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU "THINK"" in cases like that 😭 (it's so funny to imagine yuno say "yeah i think my murder was abortion" and then there's a flashback of her throwing her newborn child down the stairs) but yes what's the deal with those stairs. why is there so many of them. why do they get shown all the time. it's actually wild that tear drop didn't have them. AM I GOING INSANE OR DOES HER BIRTHDAY CAKE ALSO KINDA LOOK LIKE STAIRS.
tbh, yuno's case feels weird to me no matter what they decide to do with it. it's like, if it really is abortion, uh.. yay? congrats on three inno verdicts, queen? like idk it really does feel a bit underwhelming. maybe that's just me though.
and if they go "no actually it was something else" her t2 vd will look even more weird. like girl why would you have to lie. or like, did you actually forget about your crime because that's how much you didn't care about it?? i guess she could lie because maybe she thought that abortion will make her look more guilty or something, but if that's the case, HER BEING VOTED INNOCENT RIGHT AFTER THAT SOUNDS SO FUNNY. i saw many theories about her murder being not exactly abortion, but something like her falling down the stairs (on purpose) while she was pregnant, and i guess it does sound more interesting and makes more sense.

This will be written sloppily due to me being stuck on my phone but the report today got me talking to a friend and reminded me of a theory I had (I think it originated from @archivalofsins though)
Still, I'll share it again for fresh eyes:
I think Shidou could be making Mahiru sicker instead of helping her
So the gist is that at the start of trial 2, Mahiru was in a critical condition and had her life saved by Shidou
After that she entered a period of injury but stability
We saw through timeline conversations that she was in pain but seemingly able to move around and do things with some assistance
Yuno then gifted Mahiru a wheelchair, the clear implication being that this would let her continue to live as she had been but without as much pain (ambulatory wheelchair users often talk about how their chairs give them more energy/spoons to do other activities too)
Similarly, in Shidou and Mahiru's voice dramas they discuss her health but there doesn't seem to be the kind of urgency suggesting that Mahiru needs to be immediately moved to a hospital in order to not die (Shidou tries to ask Es to "end milgram" but if Mahiru was going to die without urgent care that could've helped his case yet he didn't mention it, even in normal prisons if a prisoner is severely sick or injured they're supposed to be taken to a hospital [not to say real prisoners don't experience medical neglect or abuse but officially they aren't meant to] )
At most he brings up the idea that another guilty vote could be detrimental to her mental health -but he's not an expert or anything
As I said, this all painted a picture of Mahiru as injured but stable until her next verdict
And we forgave her
But then things take a turn
Suddenly Mahiru is requiring round the clock care
Shidou can barely stop for a birthday shoulder rub. Yuno is taking breaks during Mahiru's naps
She appears to be bedridden and her wheelchair hasn't been mentioned since she got it
If we accept time doesn't move in milgram that could explain injuries not healing but it would explain such a dramatic, unexplained decline
We know Shidou has built his personality around being a doctor. A necessary figure who saves people's lives. So it would be a little awkward if he didn't have any patients (since Fuuta apparently didn't feel like he could rely on him and instead joined the anti medicine cult, a common pattern in those who lose trust in doctors after being mistreated)
I don't think Shidou is evil (although it's pretty bad to poison your patients) I think this doctor-patient relationship is almost co-dependant for him, after all its what his inno vote is based on.
It does leave him in a vulnerable position though
He's potentially turned one person mostly able to look after themselves with some medical assistance/supervision into a patient that even with 2 people is causing him to be spread thin
If Mahiru dies he'll be blamed (and I'm sure Yuno is watching him if he does anything too suspicious)
But if another incident happens before T3 and a lot of people get injured again
Or Amane incapacitates him, preventing him from treating the others
There could be a pile up of casualties with not enough people to look after them all
Hard decisions may have made
It could be a triage
#shidou kirisaki#mahiru shiina#milgram#ミルグラム#milgram theory#not really but putting it there anyway#my backup theory is still that they're hiding a baby but i think this is more likely

"For Mahiru's sake"
I have seen some arguements that, yes, if Amane is able to deck Shidou, it would indeed be a skill issue and all that However "we still must vote Amane guilty in order to protect Mahiru"
Ignoring all the things like "subjecting a torture victim to further torture" and "there is no guarantee that another guilty vote would restrain Amane enough to stop her" and "It isn't a case of when or if, Fuuta is literally already implied to be in Amane's cult and he has an inno vote meaning Amane could just ask him to act on her behalf"
I want to object to this on the grounds that Mahiru herself would not approve of it.
Firstly: Why did Mahiru forgive Kotoko? I think many people saw Mahiru forgiving Kotoko and took it at a surface level "Oh such a kind heart poor Mahiru has~" Perhaps some with concern "If she's willing to forgive a woman that almost killed her what else is she willing to put up with?!" I too have shared these concerns for her But I think there is an oft overlooked explanation, one deeper to Mahiru's true nature
"An ideal she can't concede on" It's no secret Kotoko views herself as a vessel for justice, dehumanising herself into a mere tool, Es' "Fang" And to Kotoko, justice can only be delivered in the most visceral, corporal satisfying way So it is completely understandable, that upon being told Mikoto, Mahiru, Fuuta and Amane had commited injustices. Kotoko's only reaction could've been a violent beatdown (until she got stopped by Kazui at least) Why would Mahiru care about that? Because, dear reader, Mahiru too has a belief she cannot concede on
Both Mahiru and Shidou say they'll do anything for love and its likely that conviction that lead them both to MILGRAM Shidou would take the hearts of a million paitents if his wife's would beat again. Mahiru, even after two trials... honestly doesn't have much to say about her boyfriend... But everything she did, she did for love and thus she has no regrets
Mahiru even directly draws a link between herself and Kotoko here.
So why can't Mahiru deny Kotoko's ideals? Because she'd be denying a piece of herself too
And if we're going off Mahiru's logic, she wouldn't want us to permit her ideals whilst denying Amane's
Ok, but, who cares what Mahiru wants, right? Useless weaklings should just shut up and let us protect them! Especially given how fragile Mahiru must be... A concern I've seen a lot is that even if Mahiru isn't the target, if Shidou becomes incapacitated, she'll potentially die too A lot of people voted Mahiru innocent on the basis that another guilty could be fatal to her. Now Mahiru does seem pretty badly injured, and while we don't know the basis of the care Shidou and Yuno are providing, it must be severe to require two round-the-clock carers
Despite this, while Mahiru certainly isn't comfortable, it does seem like physically she is mostly stable. Even without Shidou, Yuno has recently spoken about how out of normality, she can't let someone in front of her die. So she'd probably continue to help keep Mahiru clean and fed even if she can't help with more complicated things (and we know Yuno isn't at risk because Amane talked to her without giving her a big threat about breaking taboo) This is also total speculation on my part, but I have a feeling by the time trial 3 rolls around, Mahiru will still be in her wheelchair heavily injured, but she will have recovered some more of her strength. Wheelchairs can move faster than I can run to begin with (Source: Guy I used to share a class with always beat me in foot/wheel races) but in addition Mahiru could already (with great difficulty and probably with risk of exaccerbating her injury) walk/run to some degree before getting her chair I mean this not to discount her, but to say that she is not entirely without defence/method of evasion should Amane attack Even more speculation-y: After Kazui missed Kotoko's attack last time, I would hope that the prisoners have some sort of Kazui-alert system to ensure he wouldn't be so late to a surprise attack again that could be used if Amane comes after them too
Whilst Jackalope states it was Shidou's treatments that saved Mahiru directly after Kotoko's attacks When it came to Shidou telling Es about the threat to Mahiru's life, the topic was her mental health
Mahiru's innocent verdict will affirm her ideas about love and probably give her some more willpower
Will it be enough to protect her if Amane attacks her? I don't know!
But the sad truth is we are already aboard the pain train. We are trying to play 4D chess with a pigeon determined to knock our favourite pieces off the board. There's a lot of factors we can't account for, Kotoko for example, if voted guilty may not attack anyone or maybe she'll attack Haruka and Muu (or any other guilties) because she still sees them as injustice or maybe she'll attack the innocents because she can no longer trust our judgement of who committed injustice. We can't even confidently say what a T2 guilty looks like yet, so far two prisoners are voted guilty. Haruka is a seemingly bedridden hikikomori meanwhile Muu seems completely unaffected. We have no idea what'll happen with them until it does and how it'll affect the rest of this mess.
The only thing we have power over is a single, overly binary choice: To forgive or not forgive
And personally, I don't think Shidou or Mahiru is worth the continued punishment of a 12 year old. (idk why you're voting though so no offense if you think differnetly but I hope this was a good perspective)

What would've happened if the prisoners got different verdicts than they did? (In trial 1 and 2-wise)
putting everything under the cut bc im yapping a lot here..
(also warning for descriptions of eiji's possible punishments for some prisoners and how hinode's punishment could affect them)
akio: being voted innocent in season 1 would actually be a better outcome for him! yes, akio "expected" being voted innocent, but i think that deep inside he would still have a feeling that the guards will vote him guilty, so he would find being forgiven very confusing. he would try his best not to show it though and he would try to act like "it was supposed to be this way", but on the inside? the boy would be shocked and would try to understand the guards' reasoning. as for being voted guilty in season 2, i've said before that linagram characters won't die until all trials are over and i intend to keep my word, but i think that akio would definitely be in a terrible condition and he probably wouldn't even be able to talk properly in his third voice drama. it would be interesting to see canon!aimi trying to do the talking for him maybe?.. i'm not sure how that would work, but it'd be fun and it would show how dependent on her he's become.
aimi: being voted guilty in s1 wouldn't. be good for her. probably. depends on what you think is good for her. eiji's punishment for her would be not allowing her to talk to any of the other prisoners, otherwise she'd be punished in some other way, most likely physically. even if the prisoners themselves try to talk to her, she wouldn't be allowed to respond. she would also be not allowed to spend time with them in any way, so even if all prisoners are eating in the cafeteria, eiji would just bring the food to aimi so that she can't even come to see the prisoners. being isolated from everyone in this way wouldn't be good for a girl who's obsessed with the concept of friendship as you can imagine. she would act a lot more mean and she would also claim that eiji is simply taking advantage of his power and using it to torture a poor girl who was a victim of bullying (and yes she WOULD say that her classmates bullied her. mostly to make eiji feel bad for her) her relationship with akio in this case is an interesting topic because if she's not allowed to interact with the prisoners, how would she save canon!akio from his suicide attempt? i imagine that aimi would risk being punished and still save him, but not really because she's that kind, she would just use akio to make the guards realize that she's actually "better than they think" and that they should forgive her. if she got voted guilty in s2, again, she would be mad at the guards, especially if she was voted inno in s1. i can imagine that her reaction would be similar to canon!shun's, so she would be like "hey what did i do wrong why would you betray me like this".
shun: honestly, i'm glad that he got voted inno because his s1 punishment would be very similar to hinode's :'D basically eiji would use some kind of drug on him to make shun's memory even worse but it would backfire and shun wouldn't remember LITERALLY ANYTHING. i think he would even forget that he's human. it all depends on the other prisoners' verdict combinations, but i think that if someone else tried to take care of shun, it would be eiko except eiko is a horrible woman (affectionate AND derogatory) and she would take advantage of his memory loss and shun literally wouldn't be able to function without her. if shun got voted innocent in s2, i think he would be pleased to see guilty prisoners experiencing memory loss and he would go "SEE NOW YOU'RE JUST LIKE ME" at them. his treatment of female prisoners would get worse and when it comes to his relationship with canon!eiko, he would try to make HER depend on him since she got voted guilty in s2. she would be very reluctant, but she'd eventually agree because it feels nice to be taken care of, even if it's.. like this.
naomi: if she got voted guilty in s1, her punishment would be.. very interesting because it would be directly related to another prisoner. eiji would force asahi and naomi to spend as much time together as possible, i imagine he would go as far as making them share a cell. they wouldn't be allowed to talk to anyone else (not counting the guards) and i think he'd just scare them with a physical punishment like in aimi's case. yes, that would be weird if asahi got voted innocent, but i honestly think eiji wouldn't care about asahi's verdict and he would still be completely okay with using him for naomi's punishment. if she got voted innocent in s2, i think she would become a LOT more confident and even proud of what she's done. would go full child killer mode and try to turn asahi's life into hell but. miki is out there
kei: if he got voted innocent in s1, he'd find it funny and would claim that it's the proof of eiji's love for him since he'd obviously forgive his older brother no matter what, right? but like akio, he'd find it a little.. confusing. because hey, eiji, you voted him inno because you love him, right? not because you feel bad for him? not because you think kei is pathetic and weak and should be protected? his relationship dynamics with others depend a lot on everyone's verdict combos so please feel free to ask questions about the specific ones! if he got voted guilty in s2, memory loss would be really bad for his already unstable mental state, but i also think something would go. wrong in kei's brain during the procedure and he'd become a tiny bit obsessed with hinode because he's so used to the concept of physical pain being the proof of love that hinode torturing him in a psychological way would feel very new and exciting, like i think kei with his "love = pain" mindset would think hinode just confessed his feelings for him right there. i can imagine kei also begging hinode to hurt him physically as well in his third voice drama and overall becoming more masochistic.
eiko: guilty would actually be her canon s1 verdict and i remember being a bit surprised when she got voted inno :'D eiji's punishment for her would be.. i want to say that it would be bad, but considering how he would punish shun and some other prisoners, this one ACTUALLY SOUNDS KINDA TAME COMPARED TO THEM. eiji would cut eiko's hair, making her look like a mess and he would also spill hot water on her skin causing burns to appear. y-yeah. eiko would accept her punishment and would be surprisingly chill about it and she would say that it just proves how "eager" eiji was to punish someone as pretty as her. i also can imagine her obsession with eiji getting worse as well because eiji keeping his promise and actually punishing her proves how "perfect" he is. her dynamics with shun and kei would depend on their verdicts a lot, but i actually think guilty!eiko would be more focused on eiji than them. her being voted innocent in s2 wouldn't change her personality much, i think she'd honestly act more or less the same, though i can actually see her being a little disappointed in eiji because of him going easy on her all the time, haha. but she would still love him.
asahi: OH THIS IS A BAD ONE like i was honestly relieved when he was voted innocent in s1.. so um. we all know that his theme is hunger right. and that he's happy as long as he "has food to eat and toys to play with" right. u-um. well. eiji's punishment for asahi would be basically leaving asahi to starve. asahi wouldn't be allowed to eat anything and he would be allowed to only eat extremely small amounts of food and only if he was like. clearly about to die soon. yes, i like to make fun of eiji's obsession with punishing everyone and i also often mention that eiji is a victim of abuse and that's why he's like this, but eiji is a terrible, terrible person and he WOULD go that far just for the sake of his personal "justice". miki would secretly bring food to asahi though and eiji would find out and they would have a really bad fight because of it. if naomi was also voted guilty, i can imagine naomi (because she's also a terrible person. just like most people here) eating in front of asahi and torturing him this way. god she's insane. if asahi was voted guilty in s2, i think it'd depend a lot on his s1 verdict, but if he was also not forgiven in s1, the boy would be BROKEN. he was left to starve and now the guards are playing with his memories. i also think his relationship with miki would be a lot less wholesome because he would be attached to her since miki is still the only one who would care about him, but he would wonder why the girl keeps voting him guilty if she claims she wants to save him.. if he was forgiven in s1, he would be DEVASTATED because that means miki betrayed him. if asahi got voted guilty at least once, i think his hallucinations would get worse and he'd hear and/or see his "real mother" more often. it'd be even more sad if eventually she stopped looking similar to miki..
yurika: OH YURIKA!! yurika was actually supposed to get an inno verdict in s1 and i was really surprised when she got voted guilty. if she got voted inno, she'd be like "oh i knew the guards will realize that i'm the real victim!" and she'd act more confident and she'd act a lot more like what kind of person she used to be before her parents kicked her out. sooo basically mean rich girl. however, on the inside her feelings would be more complicated bc at the same time she still wants to laugh at miki and say that the girl is just trying to make yurika trust her, but also... miki is so nice to her.. miki reminds her of takame so much.. ehehe.. what should she do.. if canon!yurika was voted innocent in s2, she'd be surprised, but she wouldn't be able to be truly happy about it, because the guards already voted her guilty once and they can definitely do it again. she would also find it funny and she would ask miki something like "do you really hate eiji that much" since voting yurika inno after she broke eiji's arm would definitely be a Choice. and if inno!yurika got voted guilty in s2, well. she'd be really mad! and she would also realize that miki is not the same as takame and that no one will save yurika in this place and she has only herself to rely on.
riku: riku was actually supposed to get voted guilty in s1 and honestly it would be very similar to what happened to him after he got voted innocent. riku would, ironically, be very scared of what eiji could do to him so he would decide to hurt or even kill himself before eiji could get to him. his injury would be very serious and it would be a miracle for him to survive and i think arisu would be the one to take care of it, since he also treated akio's head injury after akio got voted inno. because of that, riku wouldn't be able to leave his cell and talk to others and eiji would call that a perfect punishment for him because it means that riku can't get any attention from others (and also it would be a cool riku and hinode parallel since well.. hinode spent all his time in bed bc of his health issues and still got a lot of attention and now riku has to do the same but nobody cares about him...) miki would try to spend as much time with him as possible though and riku would become very attached to her since she would be the only source of attention for him. if canon!riku got voted inno in s2, he wouldn't be sure what to do, because he'd still feel like the guards are forgiving him because they feel bad for him so he just needs to continue hurting himself to get out of milgram, but he would also start to get thoughts like ".. maybe they actually do think i was in the right". his self-harming tendencies would still be there, but he would slowly try to control them and if akio was voted innocent in that case as well, he'd try to help riku with it. it still wouldn't be a perfect verdict though bc riku would just think driving his friend to suicide is all good and okay and morally correct.
reina: reina's a very interesting case! i think if the guards voted her guilty, reina would be relieved at first, but then she would literally feel like that one post that went something like "you fell for the character's facade that the viewers were supposed to see through"?.. like, she wouldn't know if she's supposed to be jumping in joy or look the guards in the eyes and go "god you are so dumb". she'd try to understand if they really think reina's crime is bad or that the guards just didn't want to bother. as for eiji's punishment for her, i think eiji would be sure that physical punishment wouldn't matter much to reina (and he'd be right), so instead he would simply force her not to talk about her crimes outside of trials. however, reina wouldn't find that scary and she'd keep her serial killer act and eiji would also not be able to punish her physically since the girl is literally not scared of him and she'd be okay with him doing something to her, and that's boring to him. so yeah, honestly, he'd just ignore her. if she got voted guilty again, her behavior would depend on other prisoners' verdicts, i think. if their verdicts made sense to reina, i think she'd actually believe that the guards do think she deserves punishment and she would accept it and even give up AND SHE WOULDN'T TRY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT MILGRAM. but if their verdicts sounded weird to reina, she'd realize the guards don't know what they're doing and she'd start to act a lot like canon!reina.
some bonus info!
i believe that if the verdict combinations were different, we'd still get a lot of the current notable relationship dynamics like 030506, 0109, miki and riku, miki and yurika, eiko and eiji, naomi and asahi, the guard and prisoner siblings, etc, but i think some prisoners would interact more, like i can imagine a scenario where yurika could become interested in naomi since "haha she's still looking for a pretty older woman to date" and naomi wouldn't have any feelings for her at all, but she'd manipulate yurika and possibly even use her to hurt asahi. i also think that asahi and miki's relationship wouldn't be as strong if he kept getting voted guilty. we also could have more insane reimiki yuri if miki kept voting reina guilty. imagine
#overall im very pleased with the verdicts we ended up with :) i think they're cool#i like some of the other concepts a lot tho like inno!yurika and miki's dynamic#or inno!shun and guilty!eiko...#the t3 verdicts sure keep. shocking me though because i thought people would be more forgiving this time AHDKSKSLS#LIKE SINCE THIS IS THE FINAL TRIAL AND EVERYTHING#but oh well. full guilty combo for yurika it is.#again reina being voted guilty this time would be so funny. akio and asahi is this the victory you wanted#❔answering asks ❔#🗡️guard 001: sanada eiji 🗡️#🌼guard 002: andou miki 🌼#❤️🩹 guard 003: kuroki hinode ❤️🩹#👑prisoner 001: miyagawa akio👑#🌸prisoner 002: hanasaki aimi🌸#💔prisoner 003: ishizu shun 💔#🌿prisoner 004: chiba naomi🌿#🍓prisoner 005: sanada kei 🍓#💎prisoner 006: yoshioka eiko💎#🍬prisoner 007: yano asahi 🍬#🎀prisoner 008: maruyama yurika 🎀#🎸prisoner 009: kuroki riku 🎸#🎭prisoner 010: himura reina🎭

1. Props to you for all of the final vote consequences being horrible in some way. 2. I *really* hope what happened to Kei isn't what I have thought happened since 2nd trial
thank you so much!! even though i do feel bad for the prisoners or at least most of them, i really can't see them getting a truly happy ending even if they get voted innocent three times. for example, asahi can be saved, but he's still going to suffer a lot bc he doesn't know where he's supposed to go and even if miki tells him that she's his sister, he's still going to forget everything that happened in milgram and we don't know what's going to happen to miki after the trial is over. aimi and reina's situations are also not the best so even if they do get three inno verdicts, it doesn't mean that them and their families (in reina's case, her friends too) just forgetting everything will make their lives better.. there's also the "reward" jackalope mentioned too..
as for kei's situation.. tbh i wanted to make what his victims did a bit ambiguous, he will FINALLY talk about it in his vd, but it's still mostly just implications. when i came up with kei's crime, i thought of it from the victims' perspective too and basically it was supposed to feel like "a cool girlboss moment" to them or a twisted way of self-defense. like it definitely was very painful and traumatizing to kei, but it's mostly up to the readers to decide how exactly it went.
#i am kinda thinking of doing something like.. either a series of short vds like behind the sin ones#where everyone's crimes are actually shown OR i could just make those two people that work in milgram reveal everything#but also i feel like kei is pretty much the only person who REALLY doesn't want to talk about his crime atp#he's a kind of character that would be easier to understand if we could discuss his whole backstory but we do not have the time for that#so yeah remember you can ask me anything about the characters' lore if you want 🫶#❔answering asks ❔#🍓prisoner 005: sanada kei 🍓

>Oh, don’t worry, I love receiving asks! Cool cool ! Prepare for me to never shut up ! Was originally gonna ask about Mahiru next cause she's the only one in my quintet of favorites (minus Amane) who I haven't asked about yet, but since you've mentioned Mikoto twice now, I am very interested to hear your thoughts on him
… Are you going to keep asking until I cover the whole cast, or…? Eh, I don’t care. The more asks the better!
Yeah so the reason I’ve mentioned Mikoto a bunch is that I’m currently writing a MeMe analysis in preparation for when his Trial 2 MV drops (I know it’s still a ways away but since I want to do one on all MVs I might as well go with him), which means he is occupying all of my waking thoughts until I can figure it all out. And there’s a lot to figure out with the guy. Hence why he is one my favorites, up there with the other one I’ve thought a lot about (Amane).
CW: Murder.
EDIT: My previous opinions on Mikoto were pretty stupid/uninformed, so I’ve deleted them. Im only leaving this post up for the initial Mahiru impression.
And since you brought her up, I might as well talk about Mahiru too. And, frankly... well, I think she's a cool character and an interesting spin on the yandere trope (I think that's what's going on), but I don't have many strong feelings towards her. See, I'm aro/ace with absolutely zero romantic/sexual attraction, so I usually have issues connecting to characters who have romantic love as such a core concept to their storyline, and Mahiru is no exception. I just don't get it, you know? I understand why she does the things she does it in a purely neutral sense, but I can't really empathize much with her because the concept of being so head over heels for someone is completely foreign to me. I still think she's great, she's just not for me.
Obviously there's a bit more to her than "girl in love", but it's still one of the most integral parts of her character. It's hard for me to find things to relate with her. And, well, she doesn't exactly make it easy for me to like her.
(T1) Q16: What is the definition of happiness?
M: Having a romantic heart.
... Okay well then fuck me I guess, right Mahiru? /lh
So yeah. While I think she's interesting and I'm sure I'll appreciate her more when I really sit down and look over her MVs more deeply, at the moment... she might be my least favorite character I am so sorry. I don't dislike her, but I find her a lot less interesting than all the other sillies. I actually may have ended up voting her Guilty if I'd been in the fandom at the time. Probably I would have gone inno, but I'm not 100% sure.
Anyways, hope that answered your questions! And I hope you're not too disappointed in my opionions on Mahiru. Anyways, take care!
