#i have BACKSTORY on hero & assok's NAMES

tpoh fics i am spinning in my brain:

- au where dial is a failing college student pressured into the "there's a monster pack here" woods & the monster is a faecursed TOby

- same au as above, but this one centers around rgb adopting a changeling daughter mostly by accident but also bc he is Not sending a 2 year old changeling into the foster system

- same au AGAIN but this time hero drags rgb into the faewilds to rescue her human counterpart, assok

Please please please tell me the backstory of the names. Tell me more about this fae au i adore it

okay!! so!!! basically what happened with hero is that when rgb found her he asked her name, and im thinking that her name was like rio or something idk and she was just like "ee-yoh" and he was like. i have no idea what she said. hero?? sure that has the right vowel sounds

and even when he found out what her actual name was he way preferred to call her hero esp because she's a changeling and already he loves her

so now she's hero

and assok!! assok was yoinked from hero's fae parents by hate who decided that she wanted a human changeling & she's the queen so she can. so she's got this two year old human child

(i'm thinking somewhere along the way assok got renamed to smth like kesoka? this will make since a little later)

and for 2 years everything goes mostly fine. but when assok is 4 she finds their incessant questions and chatter Really Annoying and just

curses them

with a "speak only when spoken to" curse

but it misfires.

because the direct wording of the curse is "you cannot speak without another's say"

say as in permission. but also as in their words. and the curse chose the second interpretation

and hate Did Not Care that she'd ruined assok's ability to communicate. and little four year old kesoka is thinking like. curses are only given by her to Bad people. and i am Not Bad. so She is bad. and i don't think i want her name for me anymore

and they play with the sounds of "kesoka" until they land on "assok"

and so for two years assok has to live with this hell-mother & is constantly called the wrong name and remember can only speak by echoing

and then hero drags rgb off on an adventure to come save them but that has made its mark and poor assok has Trauma now
