#i hate stories that are good and tense and mysterious and then there isnt even a happy ending. dont do that

Yuri Espoir
Fifty yuri stories for the price of one.
It's really cool to see a romantic take on characters and then a more nuanced, surprising take.
Great - nay - even innovative art.
what's wrong with this girl. She's going into this marriage as though she's actually DYING, she literally explicitly sees it as DYING. She has vague flashbacks to something terrible related to this man. Or her father. Or both. The man's face is always a black nothing. Yet she lies and simpers to convenience him and her father. What's wrong with her? (Like, literally)
They humanised the disgusting adult man who's marrying a girl straight out of high school. For some reason, he's devoted to her...??? (Is he supposed to be the 'good face' of patriarchy? The prince who will go along with forced marriage but he loves her so it's ok?)
It's amazing how her eyes go completely black when she's forced to contend with her future. And come alive and manga-sparkling in her mental yuri escape with her friend. It's such an effective and creepy effect
WHY DOES SHE KEEP FLASHING BACK TO HER CREEPY AS FUCK FATHER WHEN CONFRONTED WITH
She's literally physically sick. This girl has deep seated suppressed trauma.
Anyway. The hinted at darkness in this story contrasted with mostly light hearted yuri stories and a very detailed and well-rendered high school setting is a brilliant combination.
#so she meets her best friend and thinks shes the prettiest girl in the world.#then.#BACK TO THE PRESENT#WHAT HAPPENED??? WHATS THAT WEIRD IMAGE OF THE HAND AND THE DIRT AND THE LITTLE FEET#i just want these two to get out and be happy and get together aaaa#ahhh reading about her convincing herself that its ok because shes had enough happiness - feels suffocating#this homeroom teacher hears this other girl say: to me my mother is utterly terrifying WHILE CRYING#and goes: oh no! then lets her leave#anyway time to sleep#i just want there to be a happy wnding and im anxious#i hate stories that are good and tense and mysterious and then there isnt even a happy ending. dont do that#but the yuri short stories do seem to say that the author is very good#my stuff#vidi#yuri espoir#the piece of shit art teacher seriously went: oh but shell be happy with this guy hes AMAZING (i know bc im in love with him)#shut your fucking mouth

JUST FISNISHE DWTACHING FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDYS FILM AT CINEMA. BOY
IM SO GIDDY
SPOILERS OF COURSE!!!
IM so glad [atleast in my country] its classified as thriller it does wonders because its just clearly not horror. Its like Goofy 80s horror film and I love it. It still got some mystery [well to people who already know the game snot that much but theres still some sliver of it]. Idk i cant classify it as any genre
BUT FUCK IT I HAD FUN!!!! THATS WHAT I HOPED FOR!!!
The beggining and end were the best, middle atill was okay for me still fun :] I didnt expect Cute moments with the animatronics it was so goofy and I dig it <4
And!!! Im glad that vanessa wasnt just the love interest! I dont think it even was implied that either mike or vannessa fell in love with eachother actually. Hell for me, who knows most of the fnaf story, she was most of the mystery! Sure her plot was predictable but I think it DID make sense in the movie so its really enough for me. Tho she really has a lot going on and it would have been nice to see more of her past! Or to see that in the future?
Also its so funny to me how the plot with jane ended with her just getting fucking killed lmao
AND IM SO SO GLAD WILLIAM DYING IN SPRINGLOCKS HAPPENED. I WAS SO HAPPY TO SEE IT. SURE IT WASNT WOAH SO GORY BUT IT WAS THERE AND THE PERFORMANCE WAS GOOD IMO!
also hehe william really didnt give a fuck about anyone I dig that actually
Also all the references/easter eggs were fun!!
Also lmao when I realized that waiter guy was matpat. I whezeed.hes here
Love how our hate for baloon boy got acknowledged as a gag
AND WHEN THE CREDITS ROLLED. THEY PLAYED THE FIRST FNAF FAN SONG. BOY SO MANY OF US IN THE CINEMA CHEERED
To conclude: as a fnaf fan I had fun!!! Really I think my expectations have been met I didnt expect a stellar film and yeah its no that but I had fun!!
Objectively? Yeah of course its not a great thriller. Average I would say. The plot is still holding together but no tense atmosphere is really there. Characters were fun, not woah complex but fun and acting was neat! I quite enjoyed the soundtrack of this film :] a lot of 'emotional' moments didnt hit it for me but hey im still glad mike and Abby are happy
Honestly I just think there isnt exactly a good film genre for this film? Maybe im just not knowledgable enough? But it doesnt feel right to say its thriller. And its also not right to say its comedy for me
Its just. A fun movie. Nothing stellar but fun and I wasnt bored!
Okay no this si not gonna be exactly related to the movie but
IM FUCKING SERIOUS WHEN I SAY I FUCKING LOST FEEL IN MY FINGER NERVES AFTER CLAPPING AT THE SPRINGLOCKS SCENE WHEN WILLIAM AFTON SAID HIS FUCKING THING. EVERYONE WAS CLAPPING AND CHEERING AT THAT POINT TOO I THINK
Just in general love how we all in that cinema at some points had the same reactions dhdhds
Everytime afton showed up I was laughing in mischief
It was awesome to watch it on a premiere day :]

shallow or deep
— “Why would you want a guy with such a large and disgusting burn?” he whispered, his tone thoroughly rejected, broken. It was then that it hit you: did he think he wasn't good enough for you. —
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
pairing: todoroki shouto x reader
warnings: fluff, angst (insecurities), cursing
word count: 2,544
a/n: I took the shouto has an insecurity over his scar even if it isnt that deep headcanon and ran with it, I hope yall enjoy this!!!! its been awhile since ive managed to write a fic in a single day!!!
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
“You’re quite the handsome man!”
“Oh, thank you.”
“But that scar... don’t you want to get that fixed? I know someone with a quirk who can fix that up for you!”
“Thank you for your concern, but I think I am content with it.”
~
“Without a doubt, you are by far one of the most attractive Pro Heroes to have existed!”
“Thank you for your compliment, but I think it’s my ability to—”
“Don’t you think you would look hotter without your scar? Have you ever considered getting it removed?”
“...no, I haven’t…”
~
“Just imagine how Shouto would look like without his scar, here are some edited pictures for reference!”
“Wow, if I didn’t want to give him my life already, I would sell my soul to the devil to get with a scarless Shouto…”
“I don’t know, I think the scars sexy! Like look at it, it makes him so mysterious and badass! Guys with scars are so fucking hot! But in my opinion, without the scar? Shouto isn’t shit!”
“Guys with scars are hot, I’ll give you that, but not one-fourth of the face scars! He’s extremely handsome still, but it’s a bit tacky for the scar to be there. If it had been like Deku’s arm and hand scars — hell, even Eraserheads face scar — he would be so much finer.”
~
“And just how did you get your scar, Shouto?”
The American interviewer who sat in front of Shouto during this live national interview had the kindest smile on her face, but to the Pro Heroes who sat on the stage alongside Shouto could recognize that shark-like glint in her eyes. Her face was calm, tranquil, beautiful, but her eyes sent bitter acid through the Heroes mouth.
“I’ve already explained what happened in a previous interview,” Shouto spoke calmly, his fingers digging into his knees.
Your eyes looked over to your boyfriend, who seemed to be trying everything in his power to remain calm. You’d only seen this happen through a screen, never in real life.
The interviewer seemed unconcerned with his rebuttal, most likely expecting this from the man who wasn’t one for repeating big stories. Her chin tilted up almost like she was looking down on him, looking down on who he was.
“Well then, I’ll bite,” she leaned forward, and you felt on edge to attack, but a hand gripped your wrist when a cruel smirk spread on her face. “Do you resent your mother for burning you that night? How do you feel about the fact that it was your mother who ruined your charming looks?”
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
The car was silent.
Your eyes tried to remain focused on the road ahead of you, but to your misplaced anger and hurt, you focused on the side of Shouto’s face every so often while he drove.
The radio wasn’t even on, something the both of you enjoyed blasting because you would sing stupidly loud and Shouto would hum along in his own mirth. The only sound heard was the tires driving against the gravel road and your irritated breathing.
The two of you had dropped off your friends five minutes ago, the once awkwardly tense car melting to this angry silence between the two of you in the front.
You hadn’t defended him on live television because Momo held you back, and Shouto allowed the interviewer to defile his family’s past abuse with her keen touch. The silence between the two of you was also irritating you.
Once the interview was done, Shouto had been the first to rise from his chair and to leave. And you were hot on his heels. You hadn’t been forgiving to Shouto when you finally corned him.
“How could you let her talk to you like that, Shouto?” you blazoned, your heart hammering in your chest, anger, humiliation, and sorrow riling you up. “She was a total fucking cunt, and you just took it!”
Shouto stared down at you, that old yet familiar distant look in his eyes — that anger that burned brighter than any fire he could produce flaming in both eyes.
“Drop it, y/n,” he all but hissed, his face stone, his tone fierce. “You don’t need to fight every single fucking thing that makes me uncomfortable.”
Those words weren’t enough to make you drop it, had it been any other fight you would have continued to press him for what was wrong with him, but it was that look in his eyes. The old look that you had sworn long ago you’d never allow to meet his eyes again.
The anger, humiliation, and broken look that he used to wear every day.
When Shouto finally parked, he didn’t hesitate to get out of the car, the door slamming loudly while you stumbled to follow after him.
But he was tall, too tall, and was in the house well before you could close your own door. It didn’t deter the way that you stormed towards the house, the devil, and god riding on your shoulder in this battle to figure out what the hell was wrong with Shouto.
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
“I don’t resent my mother,” Shouto cooly stated. “It was an unfortunate accident, but fortunately, it hasn’t kept me from anything. I still have complete sight and functionality, so I’m okay. I could never resent my mother.”
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
“Won’t you tell me what’s wrong?” you ask, coming into the house.
This was Shouto’s house, something that Endeavor had gifted to him in his expression of apology. He and his siblings had been given their own homes the moment they turned twenty, and shortly after starting your relationship, he had asked you to move in.
You both were now twenty-three. You were neither each other's firsts on many levels, but there was no denying that this was the best relationship the both of you had. You comforted each other to no level, loved each other like no other. It was almost a shame that you didn’t have any feelings for your old classmate during high school because maybe then you’d been together for longer than a year.
But nevertheless, the two of you held no regrets. His house had become yours with him.
It was a bright place, no matter how dull the day was, it was always vivacious and warm in here.
But not now.
The door closed behind you, and you saw Shouto standing at the kitchen table, head lowered, arms tense. The world seemed grey, dull, and cold. You almost swore the house’s temperature was ten degrees cooler while you approached your boyfriend, who appeared to be trapped in his thoughts.
You neared him, your own anger diminishing slowly when you saw the shadows over his eyes, his teeth gnashing in a grit.
Sorrow, humiliation, guilt.
That’s all you could read from him, but you needed more from him.
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
The interviewer seems to have expected that answer for she remains unfazed, but that predatorial glint in her eyes remains. The eyes of someone who hasn’t shown off their strongest of cards.
“How about relationship-wise? Have any of the beautiful ladies you’ve dated or have wanted to court in the past told you that you’d be much more handsome without it? Don’t you wish that you could be more normal for y/h/n?”
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
“Why would you want a guy with such a large and disgusting burn?” he whispered, his tone thoroughly rejected, broken. It was then that it hit you: did he think he wasn't good enough for you.
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
You stood up, the chair you were sitting on scraping loudly against the black floor. The interviewer snapped her attention on you for just a moment, eyes sparkling with the thrill of getting a dramatic reaction from someone.
But Momo and Uraraka held you down, and Sero’s tape came across your mouth to keep you from talking your mind.
“There have been words like that before,” Shouto says, his voice steely smooth. “But as you can see, I’m not dating anyone who shares those same opinions.”
The interviewer seemed to deflate at that answer, obviously not the juicy breakdown she was hoping for. She continued down the mass interview with the most successful class from UA’s hero program, and you continued to fume in your seat. Anger that couldn’t even be quieted by the sour emotions coming off of Shouto in large waves.
⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆⋄⋆⊹⋄⋆
“W-What?” you say almost in a horrified whisper.
Your eyes were wide, unsure if you had heard Shouto correctly. You prayed you had. A fist clenched on your chest, your gaze followed Shouto’s clouded face when he stood up completely.
“You heard me right,” he repeats, his focus on the wall. Finally, his blue and grey eyes focus on you; they’re distant, so far away, you weren’t sure if you could get him back anytime soon. A soft sigh ragged in his chest, nearly choking in his throat when he looked at you. “I was never insecure about my scar growing up… I didn’t have anything in sight except for wanting to be a hero, and hell, even through high school, it didn’t matter. No one in our class mentioned it, and I went on to believe that it while it wasn’t normal, it was in some way.” His hands found your cheeks, pressing onto them gently, and you could feel them tremble slightly. “Then I finally liked someone romantically, and we were thrust into the crazy world of media, and I realized that my burn isn’t normal.”
“S-Shouto…”
“The first person I ever dated told me they knew someone who would fix it up for me for free. The second person… well, they were an idiot and thought if we had children, the burn would be transferred over. More and more people both privately and publicly told me that I would be s-so much better without it… Do you think I’d be better without it?” his lips twisted, and you could only stare up in his eyes that seemed so far away so broken. “Even the ones who liked it, it was some weird fetish of theirs… the truth is, I don’t know how to feel about it. I shouldn’t hate it because it’s who I am, but I hate it because people always have some opinion about it, and no matter what I hear, it always pisses me off. I just… you’re beautiful, y/n. You’re the person in my life that I never want to see leave, and I know that it’s shallow to value people only for their beauty, but I’m not beautiful. Scars and burns are not beautiful, they’re ugly... My looks are decent at best, but that’s all that makes me desirable. Not you, though. You’re gorgeous, your personality and attitude never fail to make everyone feel better, and yet you’re here with me… why would you love someone like me?”
There it was.
His eyes kept to your feet as if he wasn’t worthy of staring you in the face. His hands continue to hold against you in a weak grasp, as if he pressed any harder against you, you would crumble to dust or say you hated him.
Your hands grasped his wrists, pressing his hands even more against your skin. It was an intense action, so out of the blue that his eyes snapped up to meet yours finally.
Shouto wasn’t sure what to expect when he looked at your face; he knew you were upset about the interview, and truthfully he wished he hadn’t warned Uraraka, Momo, and Sero to keep you down when those questions were asked — should they have been proposed. He also expected tears, you were always one to be more emotional than he was.
What he didn’t expect were steely yet warm eyes.
“You’re an idiot, Todoroki Shouto,” you finally speak. You took a step closer to him, your heartbeat in your throat. This was a raw Shouto standing before you. A Shouto, you had no idea how he reacted, no matter how much you knew him. So, if this was a rebuilding scene, a moment to get him to see what you saw, you would take it. “You’re right, scars and burns are ugly. They shouldn’t be romanticized. It’s also not the same as others, who take scars as a sign of overcoming hardships and victory. Your scar is one of a kind… but like you’ve said, shallow traits aren’t enough…” Your chin trembled just the slightest bit, but you couldn’t let yourself cry. No, you had to be strong for him. “You’re the kindest person I know, which knowing the saint that is Midoriya and All Might, it means a lot. I don’t mean it because you’re my boyfriend, or because I want you to feel better, but you had every reason to not be kind in your life and look at you, you’re gentle, you’re sweet. You also speak your mind, no matter what. Your opinions are valuable, and that’s why you’re such a great leader. You were made to become a hero that surpassed All Might, and you did it without ever once going down the road your father had intended for you. You did that. But if we’re going to be looking at the shallow traits, we can do that.
Your scar is a sign of growth. It’s ugly, and it’s beautiful. It’s ugly because it makes you feel like you’re not good for me. It’s ugly because it was such a dark time for you when it came. It’s ugly because it’s an insecurity. But I also see beauty. It’s beautiful because it’s another place I can tenderly love at night. It’s beautiful because who you were back then is just a scar of who you were. It’s beautiful because it’s a source of your strength despite it all. You can think whatever you want of it, Shouto, think it’s good or bad, but because it’s apart of you I have to and I choose to love it. Why would I ever want you to change who you are if you’re comfortable with it? What kind of lover would I be if I decided to love everything but one part of you?” your fingers trailed to his scarred skin, the red skin forever warm under your touch. “Shallow or deep, I will never stop loving you.”
Tears fell from his eyes, and his lips crashed against yours.
The two of you sink to the floor in this wet and sweet embrace. Lips never tearing from each other, fingers wistfully holding on, a silent prayer to each other of your devotions, and hope to never leave each other’s sides. Your fingers continued to stroke against his scar, and he held you so close until you could no longer kiss.
So your wet and bruised lips pressed against his warm scar, gentle and soft reminders that you were there for him until his faint cries became steady breathing.
Todoroki Shouto may never get over the insecurity of his scar, but he’d be damned if he thought for a second whether it was there or not, you’d love him any more or any less. You loved him entirely, and for that, he was forever grateful.

(KELLY GALE, GENDERFLUID/NONBINARY) - Have you seen CLEORA SAHAR? CLEO is in her/their SENIOR YEAR year. The ART HISTORY MAJOR is 21 years old & is a SCORPIO. People say she/they is/are TACTFUL, OBSERVANT, CUNNING, AND TEMPERAMENTAL. Rumors say they’re a member of KINCAID. I heard from the gossip blog that SHE IS THE REASON AN EX-FRIEND OVERDOSED. (ari. 22. est. they/them)
TW MENTAL ILLNESS, DRUG ABUSE, OVERDOSE, DEATH
cleora “cleo” sahar is textbook slytherin. born to a russian woman too smart for her own good, named with something archaic via her mother’s fascination with everything grecian, cleo was basically born to be the personification of a nightshade
her father is an indian/iranian immigrant who had enough charm to convince her mother to go on a date with him after three tries. her mother, nikita, always loved to tell this story.
cleo resembles her mother in many ways. from a cutting stare to her obsession with control, cleo had always wanted to be like her mother – erudite to the point of possessing the ability for world domination
was a bit of an elitist growing up because of the above — she was able to go to a good all girls private school on scholarship which led her to yates
fascinated w mythology, art history, film, etc
extremely sarcastic and cold most of the time. her familial pressures were enough to make her household tense, and the largeness of new york never allowed her to keep many intimate relationships or friendships growing up
has a god complex that she doesnt like to admit
uses her beauty to her advantage in most situations n has a reputation of a heartbreaker ever since she realized that all the boys from the public school downtown would ogle her on weekends
she isnt as reckless as the usual femme fatale — there’s this refined edge to her. like a glowing flame that never truly goes out
a scorpio….. ???? i literally cnt decide this is subject to change bt her personality? stereotypical scorpio perhaps
*TRAUMA TIME*
cleo had a really strange love/hate codependent friendship with a boy named luka. they had been friends ever since they were children, though they grew dark into their teenage years and would enable each other constantly. cleo loved luka to death in ways she could not explain, and luka took advantage of this constantly. by the age of 17, cleo had already used her street smarts and cunningness to keep luka out of jail, the hospital, what have you. during a depressive episode, cleo had decided to buy coke from some acquaintance whose brother went to nyu. she needed something to feel alive again, though this was already being done with a conflict with luka. the day was soured slightly up until a house party in which they both agreed to go to together. it didn’t take long for luka to get too drunk and drugged up to get into a fight with cleo, scheming for anything more, to which cleo is absolutely done, throwing the small bag of coke and an empty can of pbr into his head and leaving the party. SURPRISE! luka overdoses on fentanyl. cleo is traumatized and guilty and this is precisely why she has trouble finding people to be close with after his death. this is a very insensitive way to end a paragraph about her Secret, i know. but i made this up on the spot.
she was classically trained but ended up sticking to guitar/bass, is very talented and her tendency to be drawn to harder rock music/punk from her uncle landed her in a band in her freshman yr (think fiona apple/hope sandoval/mysterious frontwoman of every 90s rock band)
honestly an enigma like even her close friends are usually like [waka flocka okay gif] when talking abt her bc she’s a wildcard in the sense that no one is truly close to her
exclusively wears red and black
winter is her favorite season
prone to depressive episodes extremely easily… despite her love of winter
voted Most Likely To Slit A Man’s Throat in high school (an unspoken award)
bisexual bc who comes out of a girls private school straight
moral compass? questionable. she’s not one to be the most reckless simply because she doesn’t care enough for the thrill the way her peers do, but she’s been known to be a kleptomaniac in her younger years for the sake that she was damn good at it
her intelligence makes the world limitless and her passion for art and music only confuse her intentions for her future… it’s like her ambition is on overdrive towards something intangible n cleo has a constant fear of grasping at straws bc of pressure from her mom
constant need for power n control due to her upbringing n probably some undiagnosed ocd… she has irrational problems that are more obscure in terms of what she needs to have control over bt she tells literally no one abt these
literally has an elaborate pocket knife in her bag at all times
WANTED CONNECTIONS
exes; people who have felt the brunt of cleo’s coldness and/or wrath. most likely on bad terms or she truly jst… does not have the mind to care abt them
the odd ex that she actually does care abt?? their relationship is… strange but if opportunity came she wld not say no to hooking up
fwb/hookups; u kno the drill… we love power play n unrequitedness n the confusion of who likes who more bring the angst 2 me!!!
unrequited crush?? cld go both ways… maybe someone who sees cleo so often that she’s jst curious enough to keep them around / someone who’s pining for her but she enjoys the game / someone she likes v easily (uncommon) n she truly.. doesn’t kno how to cope
NEMESIS
childhood acquaintance that cld be fwb or hookup or weird friend…or something.. idk.. cnt decide if her cleo’s mother is a prof or someone in academia yet bc if so then this person cld be a child of one of her colleagues?
all friends any type welcome pls she’s so stone cold that she needs 2 loosen up… ive written a gd VILLAIN in my head

RE: Steven Universe
Steven universe started out as a partial action and slice of life show. With cool action scenes and emotional payoffs and drama and dealing with problems like self hatred, anxiety, hurting people you care about and other things like that. It was a good balance of Humor, emotion and drama. I think the problem people have with steven universe recently is that through 4 seasons, the story and background have been really well developed, with mysteries and intrigue abound and now that the story has reached parts that are basically as dramatic as you can get with really high stakes, The problem is that the show isn’t just the high stakes stuff and now, the show is going back to some lower stake stuff that people basically call “Filler”. I think these episodes are necessary because the kid’s Freaking 14 for Christs sake, let him have his slice of life. Steven universe balances character and drama well and when the drama gets high, its rough for some people to switch back without saying “GET BACK TO THE PLOT”. I think both parts of the show are great. What do you think, do you think low stakes episodes are important or that they should keep the tensions high?
@megabutler8 oh wow someone actually responded to my Steven Universe post!
hmmmmmm imo SU need more “filler”, and to get better at it. One of the show’s key characteristics is that it always follows Steven, and these days Steven takes everything far too seriously, so it’s looking a little glum. Hitting high stakes EVERY OTHER EPISODE just drains the episode of its emotional satisfaction. The worst episode of Season 4 (The New Crystal Gems) was the only one to not follow steven, but it could have been the best episode if it was written well… the characters took things seriously that they shouldnt have taken seriously, and didnt take things seriously that they should have. a parody interpretation of lapis and peridot only goes so far when we havent even got solid grounds for what they should be like. who ARE they now? is that really how it goes forward for them, surface traits of lil gremlin vs emo teen? it’s a harsh downgrade from what they were before.
my biggest criticism of recent SU is that it’s doing a poor job of handling side characters. it used them well at the start of the show, but now it seems to be a parody of itself. this is probably why everyone hates Ronaldo, and is so disappointed by whatevers going on with Lapis and Peridot. IMO the issue was highlighted when we Aquamarine showed up and was a weird parody villain, the poor man’s Peridot with a little bit of Agate thrown in, while Topaz said nothing and then when she did talk it was basically a joke in a bad episode.
But then we had The Trial. Yeah, this is one of the best in season 3 because it introduces entertaining and interesting side characters, gives us a cool plot that makes us go”thank god steven isnt going to continue crying about pink diamond” which sorta says how sick we were of that by the end of season 4, has the two BIG BADS, and introduces a grande new conspiracy that gets us all thinking. Its funny and tense and makes us think. All the other episodes of that bomb I could forget about, with the poorly introduced off-colour gems (fluorite is pretty interesting lmao) and Lars being a hero or whatever after dying dramatically…. the lion reveal was sad though…
my favourite eps of SU are the ones with Connie and Steven! they play well off each other. they can be dramatic, funny, cool, whatever the ep needs them to be, and it’s nice to see Steven have a close friend to share his burdens. the show can have to kids being kids. much better than watching steven getting depressed about something by himself. my least favourite ep of the entire show is the one where he refuses to talk to connie, cos yes it showed the impact of stuff on steven, but it wasnt smooth - hed never showed doubts before - and the not-talking-to-connie part was a needless conflict that was selfcontained within the episode.

i just read tobys tweet explaining things in deltarune, and here are my thoughts.
spoilers for deltarune
1) deltarune isnt undertale, and it isnt related in anyway (ie. if you did a pacifist route and had a good ending in UNDERTALE, those characters in that universe are still happy.) its neither a prequel, sequel, or reset as many have theorized. its its own thing. it just... is. i like that.
i like the idea that this is just a different scenario/set up for the characters seen thru a new lens, while still staying somewhat true to their character (fishy things, such as alphys hating mew mew 1, seemed to point to a reset of some sort, but shes still the same in that shes nervous a lot and can go into long tangents about her interests.)
this idea makes it easier to make deltarune a separate thing, as toby said later in the tweet that he cant bring you the same feeling you had in undertale, but he will instead give you a new game that will give you new feelings.
but since the story isnt released, i have no idea how far or deep it goes- it seems that chara (now kris) is mostly still chara (still kris) and im happy the story has him as the main character. i think its an interesting contrast from frisk and undertale, much more suspenseful and takes on darker themes. (no im not going to discuss gaster lol)
2. toby seemed to have a lot of reprehension of the games battle system. i thought it was great and fun, the bullet dodging making it active more so than most rpgs, and the idea that blocking creates more TP in battle rather than TP being a distinguishable thing that you deplete and often cant restore until later, this was also a great idea. also the left over TP becomes more money. you cant lose in this scenario.
doing pacifist route (though this phrase itself means just that: not hurting enemies. nothing changes.) i found this to be an extremely fun and useful mechanic when used correctly. for ex (SPOILER) when fighting jevil, where i suck at dodging his bullet patterns cause i havent really figured them out yet, having kris ACT while suzy and ralsei blocked made it so that when they got hurt, i could have ralsei heal them, and could continue playing. it made it very tense too, having to manage and know where your TP percentage is at all times.
i believe that while the battle system could be improved on, (perhaps more interactive ACTS like rearranging block man, or blowing on bunnies. more gear [it was a demo so there will obviously be more], idk. im not a dev im an art major.), it isnt inherently flawed. it is just that: a demo. a thought or concept that can be flushed out more.
i also loved the style of fight sequences, the flashiness of attacking and ACTing, and seeing characters interact with eachother in battle. it really was something i loved and will remember!
3) the in game bullet dodging, outside of battle sequences. this made walking around the world be more than walking around the world. i thought it did a great job at solidifying the concept of the soul/heart, and it was fun maneuvering around them. i love dodging bullets lol. i can see this becoming a big part of the game.
4) Puzzles. toby admitted that some things were lack luster compared to others, but i wouldnt necessarily say that grandeur = to value of its function. puzzles and their concepts repeated themselves, such as the symbol puzzle and button puzzles. the one exception being the eye puzzle. i thing that while these were simple, i had fun going through them. sure, they were easy (for the most part, getting the key was a pain in the ass 4 me cause i kept fucking up the door order). all in all, the puzzles were fun, but not an focal point in the game (Demo, btw.) im sure that when toby does bring puzzles into the next chapters, they'll play a bigger role. that brings me to
3.5) i added this after cause i remembered it but didnt want to change all the numbers cause lazy .... so.
NO multiple endings
this makes sense as it would take a long time to create multiple endings given everything else thats on the plate this time. im not disappointed or sad, i simply understand. it IS a different game, and i think it will be important to the lore (your choices dont matter).
also, like toby said, most games are already like this. i welcome it.
4) the development for the next chapters.
Toby making a game as great as undertale (i never played it but watched a walkthrough, an understood the plot as most of my friends loved it) by himself for the most part, with help from Temmie (of course!) and as well as help with the art, its an incredible feat. no wonder the whole theme of the game was determination. that being said, deltarune is an incredibly ambitious game, even more so than undertale, and it seems that hes had it in the vaults of his mind for a long time. maybe even before undertale.
it makes sense that a game of this scope will take much longer to create. with a much more complicated party system, battle system, increase in pixel art quality, more dynamic fight sequences and UI as well as like, a thousand things im forgetting, its a fucking miracle he had the determination to create and finish that. (if only i could start having that much motivation sadface).
i look forward to what he has in store for us, and i will be patient until then, considering these things take time, and toby is a human, depsite what people believe. many do have high expectations of him, but i think so long as he remembers this is about him giving his ideas and stories to the world, he'll be okay (hopefully).
5) the team
im not sure how, when, what, or uh whomst it will be obviously. point 7 was really funny. i think that toby wont have a hard time finding people wanting to work with him and on the team, but i think it will be difficult to find people who are motivated and determined enough.
6) last thoughts
i think that the world with darkeners being seperate from kris' real world is a very interesting and cool thing! it makes you wonder if its real or not. i think this will make future chapters SUPER interesting, seeing if actions in the darkener world change things in the lightener world? how it will play into the plot in the lightener world will be interesting.
also, asriel is alive in this game. hes in university, so hes an adult. im scared that something bad will happen to him and kris in the future. but also, theyre both alive! yay! i wonder if we'll see of hear about frisk again, either way i love it.
and last, the ending. what can i say? its like, really vague. i think the contrast between asriel and kris will be a big conflict in this game- asriels side of the room being filled with trophies and personal items, while kris' is empty excluding the mysterious birdcage. people in town bringing up and talking about their wonderful memories with asriel in the past, but im not sure if this is relevant or just toby letting us get more of an idea of his role. all in all he seems very loved and popular, while kris is... something else. i dont know what yet. i hope he gets a happy ending though.
and he seems like he was possessed, or not wholly himself at the end. his snappy walk and dragging himself was very unlike what we've seen throughout the game. i dont know what this means, if its more like his true nature or something else. did he know about his soul/heart before the events of the game? does he do this often, as at the beginning the desription of the birdcage and wagon depicted itcas heavily used? why the hell does he have a whole ass knife? he gonna kill someone?
also i think kris is in early highschool/late middleschool as his classmates seem to be working around town. i dont know what the work age there is tho. el oh el
all in all, i really wish him luck, i was SUPER, ULTRA satisfied with deltarune chap 1, and i cant wait to see what happens in the future. also, i loved the music
