every so often I think about a particular fandom interaction I had a while back that effectively boiled down to

Them: want to read my fic? it's only got a couple chapters so far but I'm working on the next one!

Me: Sure! I'll read and comment :) And maybe you'd be interested in one of my fics in a fandom you like too? It's a trilogy of oneshots and I'm working on writing the third piece now

Them: Oh sorry, I only read series/fics once they're finished

#it's like... yeah i get it i guess but it just feels a little hypocritical to me #like to rec an unfinished fic but then not read my unfinished series #i guess i'm just salty bc it doesn't exactly inspire me to write the third piece in the trilogy #it just puts pressure on me to write it PLUS i don't have the comments/feedback to give me motivation for writing it either #no i DON'T know when i'll be able to write ruin but it would probably go faster if i knew you were reading secret worlds first
