Hello all! So if you follow me, you likely also follow my comic Valley Echoes as well as any of my other art drabbles. You may also know that I've been financially limping along for some time.

For context, my day job is dog grooming. It's a "career" I came into relatively recently and honestly love. However, my location has recently been incredibly dead. I haven't been able to make commission from lack of dogs and my hours have been cut drastically.

I'm currently looking into finding extra work where I can that will still fit with my technically full time schedule. This has been a big part of why the comic updates have slowed considerably in the last few months.

In the meantime, however, I did want to show that I am available for commissions at this time. This is the first time I'd be getting into commissions, so if folks do request I just ask for patience as I figure it all out, but I'd love to be able to draw your requests. I have a vgen account that's still being set up at the moment.

I also want to plug my Patreon again - honestly, the fact you all give this much for what I do now is incredible to me. I recently met the fun "milestone" of Patreon temporarily locking access to my withdrawals because I had made enough money this year to require filling out a tax form before my funds could be released, which I did. Maybe it's silly but it made me a little happy. I also have a Kofi though that's updated less.

This next part ended up being much longer and more personal than I expected so I'll put it under a cut.

Anything at this time would help immensely. Cost of living is insane, I just turned 30 and keep wondering how much longer I'll be able to keep renting, let alone ever saving to afford a home. I'm very, very lucky in that I have support from my dad, who has honestly been one of my strongest lifelines for years. But I obviously don't want to have to keep taking so much of that support from someone who should be enjoying retirement.

There are a lot of expenses I keep having, and things I'm putting off. The ipad I use for art has been cracked for months, but is still functional thank god. I recently finally bought myself clothes that aren't falling off my body after losing over 100 lbs in the last year. I have to buy and maintain my own tools for my grooming job, and I have to maintain my own health, both mentally and physically. My left hand/arm probably has nerve impingements and muscle strains science hasn't even named yet lmao. And of course there's taking care of my two terrible feline children who cause nothing but chaos in my home and who I love dearly.

Even if you don't give monetary support though, I so, so greatly appreciate every one of you who shares, likes, or comments on my work. I just recently got an anon who I mean to reply to soon gushing about they love Valley Echoes. Nothing makes my day more than waking up to see a million notifications that's just one person liking each of my comics as they read through it the first time.

Ever since I was 6 years old I wanted to be a storyteller in some way. I used to draw my own Dilbert and Far Side comics, and I constantly wrote wild fantasy stories. But after going through college, dealing with a huge amount of stress, burnout, and just one random person online telling me that I needed to hear the harsh "truth" that my writing skills were garbage, that spark was just gone. Excluding occasional stuttering starts, I didn't really write for years.

Doing this "silly" comic and getting the feedback I have is starting to rekindle that spark. I have so many stories of my own that I'm starting to make tentative plans on producing in some way. But even if I never become some official published recognized author, I feel like just putting out this comic is fulfilling that dream I had as a kid. So thank you again, as cheesy and long winded as this post has become.

GRRRR RAHH War Bots is consuming me! I keep finding myself thinking about the far off hypotheticals and all the little extraneous details:

What would box art look like? So far I can see Wilderoad and Calber staring at each other from the corners of the art. A random map from the game is the background. Other bots from the game are all rushing towards each other ready for a fight.

What kinds of PvP maps will there be? One idea I had is an abandoned amusement park based on a once-beloved-but-now-forsaken gaming company that is now being used for training.

Also I had the potential* headcanon that the PvP gameplay is the War Bots** training.

*(I say potential because i don't know if you already had that idea. I don't want to assume.)

**(Not to be annoying myself. But I know that War Bots is not the final name of the game nor the team. I just wanted to make that clear real quick. Sorry if this sounds rude. I genuinely don't know how to phrase this without sounding like an asshole.)

What will the trailer look like? I can see a rough draft. A little rendered animation of showing Wilderoad walking onto a PVP map. Chaos is everywhere. We then get quick clips of gameplay footage of characters using their abilities. The obligatory pop song playing in my head bounces between "Cut Off" by Set It Off and "Magic 8" also by Set It Off. (I listened to the album these songs were in recently while I had War Bots on the brain)

By the way, I see Wilderoad as the face of War Bots mainly because they were literally the introduction to it, and if I remembered correctly, they were also one of the first characters made. And if i'm remembering REALLY correctly, I believe you yourself said they were the face.

What will the cosmetics be like? This question really started when you mentioned the quickly scrapped penguin's moveset being given to Velenna. I instantly thought "Alright, Velenna should be given a penguin skin then." Then i realized that I don't recall you ever mentioning cosmetics. Would it be more TF2-esque with a loadout system? Or would it be more Overwatch 2-esque with a simple complete skin system? Speaking of Overwatch, I couldn't help but think of an "Ancient Heroes" skinline that gives our favorite bots a familiar look. Some mappings are rather cut and dry, while some really get you to think (Poppett in particular: Tracer? Lucio? D.va? Kiriko????). I also briefly imagined a "Coat" mechanic of sorts. Where you could merely change the color of the bots bodies. Like putting on a new coat of paint. (As you can see, I'm kinda using War Bots as a cope and a way to wean me off of Overwatch. Or at least attempting to.)

What would the community jokes and memes be like? What would be our nerf Genji? I can already see a meme about Necross, but I won't since I plan to make that one a reality eventually.

Bot Select? I want to see all the bots lined up in rows and columns.

Of course. What game would be complete without your favorite thing: figures! Not to make you drool, but imagine if a Wilderoad figure was right there on your desk. Or Formann? Or Poppett? Or Velenna? Or Navea? Or etc etc etc.

It's all so just- GRRRrrr OHHHhhh, so enticing, so magical, so beautiful. I'm proud to say that I'm on the ground floor of War Bots. I love being a part of this. I can't wait for what comes next.

PS: I have absolutely no idea when the rest of The Gardeners posts will be finished. I have solid ideas on all of them (minus one). I just haven't had the time to write them. This week I'm focusing on a big midterm and have the usual load of homework. I'm trying to get a lot done this week so Spring Break I can truly relax and write to my hearts content. Of course, the biggest roadblock to my writing is that I'm busy writing a script for my university's comedy skit program club. And that has a deadline of the week after Spring Break. So yeah. Sometime after that I suppose. I will let you know that the next Gardener I'll be going over is the one with blades.

Recently I've been getting back into playing DND, and since I'm also trying to get back into interacting with people on this site, I'd figure I'd share with y'all my new-ish hobby of making dice!

For about a year I've been seeing a lot of Instagram reels of people pouring resin into molds and inking the numbers of their homemade dice, and I've always been inspired and mesmerized by these videos. And it just so happens that right before the new year I was gifted the materials to make my own resin dice! So here's what I've made in the last few months (lots of info-dumping/interest sharing under the cut):

This was my very first attempt, done specifically as a test run without any sort of pressure to look good. I was going for an oxidized copper look, but the dye cured much lighter than I expected (though it's a translucent dye so I really shouldn't have been surprised), so in the end I got more of an amber color, which I'm honestly not mad about!

I also mixed in some green glitter, since that was the only other additive I had received other than the dye, and it looks alright, but a lot of the chunkier pieces did sink to one side, so I haven't used it since. The numbers are green to compliment the glitter, and I'm happy with how it turned out, although honestly I could have gone with any other color and they would probably still look good!

At the time, I didn't have a pressure pot to cure it in, so there are some pretty significant bubbles (if you look closely you can see a big chunk missing out of the top of the d4), but there honestly weren't as many as I was expecting! Overall, while these dice are nothing special and aren't very interesting visually to look at, for my first set I'm very proud of them! 6.5/10 dice

At this point, I had bought a pressure pot, so I was feeling more confident in my ability to produce more polished dice. This set was inspired by my first ever DND character (who I recreated as my first Tav in Baldur's Gate 3), a wood elf barbarian/druid named Thaedhel. This reminds me that I haven't talked about Thaedhel on this account at all, which is weird considered I even commissioned some dope art for her, so note to self that I need to make a post gushing about her at some point XD

Anyways, back to the dice. This... was my fourth attempt, and I'm still not pleased with the results. That being said, my goals for this set are lofty, so it's still just a work in progress. This attempt has the best color; I was able to achieve a deep forest green that the previous sets lacked, and the white plumes (meant to represent moonlight for a moon druid) turned out beautifully! The white dye is not translucent, so I had issues before with cloudiness, but this is the best result yet. There's even a pinch of glow-in-the-dark mica powder in the white, so the dice actually glow blue once activated by blacklight! Unfortunately I don't have a picture of that, but maybe once I've perfected them!

Now, for the gripes. For one thing, there's a small red flower in the center of each dice, which unfortunately got swallowed up by the dyes and are only visible from specific angles. I now know that I should have included a clear resin window to keep them from getting lost, so that will be fixed in the future. But for the most part, I was happy with them; I had bought a new mold that included a barrel and crystal d4, and once I took them out I thought they had cured nicely, especially since there were no bubbles to be seen. That is, until I inked in the numbers. I wanted to paint all of the numbers copper except for the highest number on each dice, which is a nice bloody red to represent barbarian rage. But once I started to paint them, I realized how deformed these dice truly were; warped, uneven edges and rough faces that made it impossible to cleanly ink the numbers. The picture actually hides it relatively well, but in person these are some messy dice. Oh, well. Looks like I've got some work to do. 4/10 for the color scheme and not much else.

This is my magnum opus, and it's only about two-weeks old. Inspired by my current character, a tiefling bard named Enyo, I was so pleased with how these turned out, both structurally and in terms of color, that I've actually used them in the last couple of sessions (the d20 is 'moderately lucky,' according to my DM). By far, they're my favorite set!

This was my first time using mica powder as a colorant instead of dye, and it looks sooo good in person. I chose the red metallic powder for her Infernal heritage, and the purple powder is for bardic magic. It's color-shifting powder, too, so in person there's greens and reds that pop out of the purple if the light hits in the right way! But imo, inking the numbers is what really brings the set together, and gold felt appropriately classy and regal, plus it pops like crazy! The pictures truly don't do it justice.

This was made with the same mold as the Thaedhel set, and this time I made sure to give the dice some extra time to harden before I pried them out of the mold (I'm guessing that's why the first set came out so misshapen, I am not a patient person lol). It's not a flawless set; there are still a couple of bubbles despite using the pressure pot, but luckily they're not noticeable. And while I wish the two colors had interacted better (I wanted more of a fiery-pluming effect but they ended up mixing and pooling more than I wanted), I still think they came out beautifully and I genuinely can't stop touching and looking at them whenever I see them. Truly some shiny goblin rocks if I ever saw 'em. It's a 9/10 for me.

(What’s with this player base and their interesting OCs?) …Anyway, I’m kinda fascinated by your characters, Especially Flosi and Cuuja (not many people delve into the Horo tribe for some reason). Do you have any other cannons and stories about these two?

I totally do have more lore I haven't posted about those two so let me enlighten you! Thank you again for your interest!

Cuuja's a Horo in his early 30s and well respected among his tribe, partaking in a common training regimen of bulking on large, caloric meals before spending much of the day on and off training by sparring with his fellow warriors and having rest periods. He specializes more in hand to hand combat which I imagine is common among a tribe of heftier Xaela as they can use their own bodyweight to get the upper hand on their opponents. Cuuja's very fond of friendly fighting as a pastime, particularly the Danshig Naadams that are held periodically (I love that that particular frontline has its own lore as a sporty lizard playtime event LOL) Even though he's a giant sweetheart in personality, he won't hold back in a fight if driven to it, out of respect for both the art and his opponent. I'm yet to do a coloured version since i'm still figuring out all the symbols, designs and what mixed colours he'd wear, but being a large fellow Cuuja doesn't wear much on his body aside his chestwrap and waistwrap, adorning himself in colourful paints, cloths and blessings, for things such as wellbeing, health, luck, etc. He also wears a big brass weight around the base of his tail which I think would add some oomph if it was swung someone's way.

(as for why more people don't delve into the Horo, I know a lot of folks struggle with drawing heavier bodytypes without practice or are put off by them, but not me, I think bellies are lovely and all bodytypes should be expressed in a character roster! nwn)

And for Flosi, his lore is quite fun, I don't have much art of him so I'll pop an in-game screenshot instead~!

To start off, this bnuu was raised by a Doman family somewhere in Doma after being separated/lost from his tribe either as a baby or toddler (just.. sometime when very small) however he wound up in that part of Othard so far from the mountains remains a mystery, but there has been some speculation of kidnapping or tribal displacement. Because of this he was brought up alongside the hyur, raen, roes and lupin as somewhat of an oddity, but not really forsaken for being different since everyone knew the story about the kindly couple who found the kit and took him in as their own. Since he grew up in Doma he also saw the place fall under the occupation of the Garleans and has a personal vendetta against them too, by this time he was grown and working and living in Kugane with whatever jobs he could get, mainly serving in teahouses and pleasure houses (by choice! not sold to them like Yotsuyu but was still popular because he was seen as exotic) with recent years and the Empire getting progressively more violent and overshadowing within that side of the East, Flosi has quietly been trying to find a way out of Othard entirely to see what it would be like to live away from a land under their heel, but getting out of the port city unnoticed has been proving a challenge and people aren't bold enough to smuggle him abroad, so he ends up finding someone willing to and winds up in Eorzea. He's skilled in knifeman-ship and opts to use daggers as his weapon of choice, and writes often to his now elderly adopted parents back in the long-occupied Doma, vowing one day to help them find a way out like they did for him. His outward demeaner is very soft and disarming, usually being able to talk himself out a bad situation, but isn't afraid to get back to his viera roots if someone decides to give him a hard time.

I rarely actually play the game so take my answers with a grain of salt but this should be fun!

1. What’s your favourite sims death? Cowplant, hands down

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? For the longest time I was strictly Maxis Match but recently I've been way more Maxis Mix and I'm loving it

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Nah I let it happen!

4. Do you use move objects? Religiously, I cannot build without it. Routing be damned!

5. Favorite mod? BBB, I cannot play this game without it. I also get ornery if I don't have UI cheats extension and more CAS columns.

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got? I was on the Sims 4 bandwagon from day 1, so Outdoor Retreat.

7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing? Living. You've got build, buy, and live, at least that's how my brain rationalizes it.

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? I'm obsessed with all of my rpg oc sims (Ariss, Katya, Nat, Kai, Calista, etc), but probably my favorite sim-sim, well that's hard too. I really love my Simeon Silversweater makeover, and Rhiannon Reinhardt is prob my fave original sim.

9. Have you made a simself? I have! I've made myself, my husband and our dog (: One day I'll have to render them and post pics, I'm sure they all need an update now.

11. Which is your favorite EA hair color? Idk prob black or dark brown, so many of the other swatches look unnatural to me. I like the fun colors though, esp the lighter blue/cyan-y swatch.

12. Favorite EA hair? In terms of design, I really liked the braids that came with RoM and the really cool swatches, but I rarely ever use that hair.

13. Favorite life stage? YA cause it's the only one with adequate gameplay oops lmfao

14. Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay? BUILDER I rarely play the game at all but if I am I'm probably building. It seems every time I actually get into gameplay (which is rare in itself) something (a patch) comes along and breaks everything to the point where I can't anymore and I lose love for it all over again.

15. Are you a CC creator? I am! But only barely haha. I've made a few recolors and some art, but nothing from scratch YET. Soon hopefully

17. What’s your favorite game? Sims 3 was fantastic and if I remembered more of it I'd probably say 3, but I got really invested in the community for 4 and it does hold a special place in my heart even if it's deeply flawed. So, 4.

20. How has your “sim style” changed throughout your years of playing? I feel like my actual sims style hasn't changed too much, except that I've incorporated a lot more maxis mix/alpha into my style, but that's mostly for rendering and not actual gameplay.

24. How do you edit your pictures? I'm lucky enough to mooch off my dad's photoshop license. For renders and screenshots alike, I'll edit the brightness, contrast, levels and curves and then use a collection of PS actions/tweaking/blur/vignettes etc as necessary to get the effect I want.

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack is your favorite so far? It's really hard to say... I've been excited for each one of them then disappointed in each one of them lmfao what a mood. I gotta say I was really pleasantly surprised by Werewolves, and HSY exceeded my expectations, even though both had their fair share of disappointments. I don't think I really have a favorite overall though (which is def a side effect of... not actually playing the game, lmao). But those two actually got me playing the game and that's saying something.

26. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next? Oops I own them all so, whatever comes next that strikes my fancy. Idk how I feel about the horse rumors though... we'll see if it's actually good or just another disappointment.

Funnily enough, it only dawned on me TODAY that maybe I should have these girls find matches and whatnot during the course of this story! I mean that's technically their purpose for being here is, other than just being noblewomen that Rhaena can confide in and have as companions/friends. So I've started thinking of who they could marry, who's available, what new male characters I may have to make (who might be secretly queer 😌)

For the moment, I'm thinking Ellyn might actually hook up/end up with Daeron! Idk, I just think it'd be funny. I imagine Daeron as a super charming flirty guy, and Ellyn's going to be more of a dry wit, sarcastic kinda girl going forward. So Daeron trying and failing to get her attention seems pretty fun for a little background plot 😂😂 the other three girls are completely up for discussion though! 😂😂

Hey there! Thank you and I could say the same to you! It's always nice to meet more furs here on Tumblr. I used to follow a bunch myself but most of them seem to have largely left the site unfortunately :/ That being said, I do have an art tag! Up to now I haven't posted much of my art to Tumblr but if that's your preference, you can find any art I do post here under my dog draws tag. Currently it's only got the one post, but I'm hoping to post more of my art here in future! Other than that? I post the majority of my art to my Toyhouse (that link should take you directly to my gallery there since I know the site is weird to navigate) and my Furaffinity nowadays. I try to consistently post my art to both but admittedly I'm not too active on the latter. As for my writing? Unlike art, writing only recently became something I'd consider as an outright hobby so comparatively I don't have a whole lot to show for it publically. However, I would like that to change. I've been trying to figure out a good place to post my writing, but most of the sites I know of that allow for written works are predominantly for fanfiction (which I did used to write and I am considering getting back into writing but it's not a priority right now) so I'm not too sure what to do there. I actually very recently made a writing blog here on Tumblr to potentially test the waters on that so I may be posting some of my writing there eventually? Jury's still out on that as of right now but we'll see how that goes if I do end up going down that route. yeah i'm kinda at the point where like yeah sure i can get a bag working really hard and never having free time, but nothing makes me feel like a zombie more than working 50 hrs a week plus 15 hours commute total and then just having [good] money and no time to express myself creatively or do anything i feel happy with. its common in a lot of different sectors, but i digress

i just want to make something i feel proud of - lot of people can find that in being super successful and others being envious of how much they make, what car they drive and all this other stuff and its like i don't want to be part of this rat race - i want to convey something i felt was important at some point in my life

i have really bad adhd, i've had it my whole life basically but i only sort of overcame the stigma fairly recently (for myself, not others) and started getting help and all that but before that, I started these videos as a matter of ethic back in july of '22. i made a joke post just saying "thinking abt becoming a video essay guy" thats floating around here with a few thousand notes, then i just did it. I thought to myself that if I can make one video every two weeks then I can beat this thing, while I can actually do that, coming home and having three hours free and hten spending 2.5h staring at a wall was getting a bit unsustainable so after a while i had to deal with that BUT

the fulfilment I get out of making something I feel proud of even if it's not 100% true to my vision, it's better than anything I ever learned in multiple college degrees, or even my job. as a kid i planned to be an artist ( i used to draw and everything), but i just became really disillusioned over time with my own skills and didn't put in the ethic to overcome that feeling. making videos is something i've always done since a lot of my popular edits still get reposted to twitter a lot, but making one that was just about something i'm trying to convey is new. i haven't been a writer for long but i've always been good at public speaking, so i figure, why not combine that untapped skillset and combine them together which brings me to where i am now.

of course, there's this tug of war that's like "liking your job is a privilege" and it is, i agree, but that doesn't mean i should feel miserable at work for the rest of my life - and making stuff im passionate about in a video makes me happier than doing a good job for a client even if i work really hard at that too.

if i can make one person happier with my videos and the only person is me, then i know i already achieved my goal by doing right by myself - that is basically how i try to live. i'm surrounded by plenty of amazing and hardworking people, their ethic and efforts make me want to make stuff all the time too.

you're right anon, people like to make stuff - i guess that's why life feels kind of whack after art class stops being mandatory in school. took it until 10th grade then stacked everything into science and math (clueless).

Although I initially thought I have done this, I have not done the Joseph Albers inspired art work

I did not painted out the colors for my sketchbook and instead did it on my phone as a second draft.

Unfortunately, for the 1 drawing a day assignment, I've only done 2 since I had other assignments and I mostly forgot about this.

Midterm Assignment

My first draft was pretty rough as I did planned on what colors should be used but not how it will be executed. Another thing is that the layering had a big issue, with barely any layers put into it. As for the shapes, I really like how I formatted it. I could have chose a better color for these shapes however

My second draft ended up being better than the first, with less color overlapping and making it more cleaner than the first.

Final Assignment

I had a lot of fun doing this and wish to do more of this at my free time as it really made me reflect on how much I can expand on possibly painting on a canvas.

The first piece of work is a combination of 2 albums, both being from the same band Red Vox. These albums include Another Light with its coloring, and Lost for a While that has the bench and a street sign. The name is a general name I came up with during this initial album.

As I have not read any books as of recent and had to instead search for some book covers of this year, one book I found is one that made me quite intrigued in called No Longer Human. The cover looked very simplistic while also being symbolic in a way where it compliments the title. I wanted to expand upon this book cover by being simplistic but in my own way.

Another assignment I just could not do is the Museum assignment. The first one is not finished and I didn't had much inspiration as I was not able to brainstorm anything during that time.

Out of most of the materials I used, the acrylic paints are still my favorites as it gives you a wide variations and colors. Another thing about them is that they don't leave too much of a mess then they are handled well.

My favorite assignment by far is the mid-term assignment. I love how the colors came out and I showed it off to my family and they think it would look great if it were hanged in a wall. I very much agree and wish to do something like this again.

These assignments have pushed me to my limit as it was very experimental on how I can get colors right, and I appreciate it. Most of it worked out well enough that made me motivated to do drawings myself.

Overall, my goal is to figure out how I can expand upon my art skills by using different materials and how it can be done. I enjoyed this semester very much and hoping in the future that other students will do so as well.

Saudi Arabia

I'm doing an AIA Archeological Tour of Saudi Arabia. I must admit that Saudi was not high on my travel list, but the chance to see it as part of a group with the Archeological Institute was impossible to pass up. Especially since Saudi has only in recent years started allowing tourists.

This post is a few days late, but our days have been busy and we are frequently late enough getting back to the hotel room that I haven't been inclined to prepare a post. We spend a lot of time on the bus every day, so I have been writing text offline to put into posts, so I hope to catch up. Also, many of the hotels have had slow or irregular wifi, and photos weren't uploading.

I left Madison on the afternoon of January 8 on a bus to O'Hare Airport, where I caught an 8:30 Turkish Air flight to Istanbul, arriving on the afternoon of the 9th. Then another late flight to Riyadh arriving at 1:30 the morning of the 10th. By the time we got to the hotel in downtown and in our rooms it was 3:30, and I was beat. But I was up and going again by 9.

It was a free day for us, so a few of us took Ubers to the National Museum.

The museum is new, large, and well-designed. We skipped the astronomical, geological, and dinosaur exhibits to focus on the human history in the area.

Our Trip Leader, Barbara Porter had provided us with an extensive reading list prior to the trip and I bought several of the recommended books. The main thing I came away with from my readings was the realization that my image of Saudi Arabia as a backwater, end of the earth desert prior to the discovery of oil couldn't have been more wrong. From the earliest times it has been tied by both overland and sea trade to Egypt, the Mediterranian, the fertile cresent civilizations and India.

We saw paleolithic and neolithic artifacts and interesting petroglyphic rock art, the development of pottery through the ages and the rise of local civilizations as well as the interactions with the surrounding ones.

The Nabateans I had become familiar with in Petra last year were a substantial presence here too, as this was the source of the frankincense and myrrh that was their core business.

The final part was the history of Islam and also informative to those u of us less knowledgeable than we should be.

In the afternoon I visited a small museum close by the hotel with a collection of beautiful artifacts, especially handwritten manuscripts.

The next morning we went back to the National Museum as a group, which was very helpful as Barbara could add more context to a number of the exhibits. I found a tiny cylinder seal fascinating. It was carved from very hard stone and is smaller than the diameter of a pencil but carved with many figures on it. The image on the seal can be seen rolled out on the wax to the right. I don’t understand how someone could carve that with primitive tools and no magnification.

On the way to lunch we drove past the new financial district. There is an area about the size of the Chicago Loop being developed with high rise buildings for financial companies to have offices. The king is requiring all financial companies working in Saudi to have substantial offices here. There is a monorail system connecting the towers, and a train connecting the district to the rest of the city. I understand the next step will be a requirement to have some senior management located here too.

Lunch was at a recreational village built for the purpose. It uses traditional architecture and is full of high end shops and restaurants. We were there in the early afternoon, and it was not very crowded, but we were told it’s very popular after hours.

It was adjacent to Diriyyah, the early town where the First Saudi Kingdom was launched in 1744. The modern tourist center extended to the ruins of the old town, which has become a museum. So it was an interesting conjunction of modern and old.

They had large family trees of the Saud royal family. They have huge families!

In the evening we went to the Al Masmak fort, another critical location for the founding of the Saudi Kingdom.

We finished at the local street market. It was pretty small and had an arrangement of old junk. My Dad would have loved it.

I found Riyadh an interesting city. It’s almost totally modern. In 1950 the population was 100,000 now its 8,00,000. So everything has been built in the last 70 years and most of it in the last 30. But the whole city has been built for automobiles. As a result the streets a clogged with cars and traffic is terrible. In the summer it’s too hot to walk around town, so there are few sidewalks. There is a subway system under construction, but it’s several years late, of course.

Listen I honestly forgot about this account so I haven't written in so long, so now I get to make a long post on my life updates (also ignoring the scary-ass clown staring at me on my homepage)

I don't remember what I wrote last so we will start with a big change. I dropped R (will not be using names) and I seemed to change for the better after that, well I think changed a lot. Though recently they started being a bitch, yk that Lana del Rey audio, it goes like "I win" at the end and they had the audacity to put "you blocked me" "I win" like excuse me actually I blocked you second because I didn't want you on my account and now you make it to be like some big achievement??? It's really not but yeah. you go bro. also after some more looking into things, (let me add context first) there were these two account both matching user and pfps and were on my partners account harassing them so I was like "Oh they have T's name in it ill ask R" asked them, they apparently knew nothing so I was like "ask T" apparently T didn't know though her name was in the user so I asked her personally and she was being a bitch about it and I was like "chill it was a question" now I would of stopped bugging her until she screenshotted the chat, like why would you do that if you knew nothing??? but anyways, found out one of those accounts commented under R video so that cleared everything, they did know them. honestly hate how they are starting shit.

Moving on. I think since you know I now have no friends in my school I can actually focus on work since its my last year, I also have been trying to improve talking to people and actually keeping a routine since my skincare went to shit one day and I didn't know why. i start school soon so I may not find time to carry this on but I want to. I've got to actually sign up for college too soon... probably going into photography or art but most likely photography. I'm getting a whole computer setup so I wont be hunched over my laptop like I am right now typing this, I do find being able to rant like this fun even if no one will read it.

Oh my friend J asked me to join a band they are making, I'm being guitar but i only have acoustic and prefer electric but it'll have to do, they sent us a really fast pace song like... I'm using acoustic??? but its okay i can figure it out, oh i have a DnD session with them tomorrow which i totally forgot about and now i cant go shopping with my mum but its okay.

I should finish up so i can go play on my ps with C and possibly other C (Maybe I should come up with nicknames for this)

TYSM FOR THE TAG AFA!!! Ooooh boy where do I start?

First of all Afa and Pluto both of youse have put out some amazing stuff this year! I love seeing you guys art, your styles are both so cool!

As for my stuff from last year, well I can't say 2024 was my most productive, I've started a handful of projects like games or written work but none did I get to a state where I would call them "Complete". However I still have created a lot of things I'm proud of this year that I can't wait to yap about!

I think that to no ones surprise, without a shadow of a doubt, my best artwork of the year is this artwork of Mammon, I absolutely pulled out all the stops for this one and had to think outside the box to make it work! It definately shows so many of the skills I've learned accross my years of doing art and what better character for it to be than the greediest prince of hell herself!

2. I couldn't in make this list without bringing up this portrait of Jane. Not only was it a great artwork in its own right it but it's also practically a redraw of a similar work of Jane in the same outfit I did in 2022. Not only that but I ended up making her into my PNGTuber avatar for my Twitch channel which I started taking more seriously this year. Not only that but I made a bunch of alternate colour schemes for her which have already been useful.

3. It's a tough pick but I think I have to bring up my ref sheet of Cindrea. I'd been developing her design and character for years and damn has it paid off. I definately have to make a game or something with her in it.

4. It's hard to pick the last artwork I want to show off but I figured I should probably show off my most recent digital work, my new design for my OC Rada! I haven't really posted her old designs anywhere but I definately like this design better!

5. Now I could put another digital artwork here, but instead I want to talk about my Baldurs Gate 3 playthrough with @cicerosfavouritelistener! The characters we made for this playthrough, Merry and Evelyn, where instant faves, the way they play off each other and the LORE we've come up with, everything about it has been great. Now though it's not finished I would still like to share it with you all in case you haven't seen it. Though I did lose some footage, I can still share the earliest VOD with you all. It's pretty much just the raw uneditied 4 hours of gameplay. The episodes get shorter after that as I started to spend more time editing them. I'm definately planning to share more Merry and Evelyn stuff here soon since I already have a few projects for them in the works! But for now I'm just gonna drop the thumbnail of the second VOD since I actually spent the time making it. and it'd make the post look nice if each image had a picture underneath it.

Hey. I'd like to say that I love all your Earth 65 art. I love every detail you put on the panels. The interactions and dialogues are a gem!

But I don't know anything about this universe. And I'd like to know a little bit about the story of Matt working for the Kingpin and D.A Foggy. Any reading tips? And if you don't mind, and if you haven't done it before, can you tell how the idea for Ask Nelson and Murderdock came about? :)

Okay, I'm okay. >o</

(For anyone who happened to stumble on this post that doesn't know about my little ask blog, you can find it over at @ask-nelsonandmurderdock. Love for you to take a peek at it, or send an ask if you feel so inclined!)

So the great thing (and also unfortunate) thing about Earth-65 and Matt "Murderdock" Murdock is that he only appears in one series, the main Spider-Gwen series from 2015. That makes it super easy to read his whole villain arc without having to track down a million different issues and crossovers, but it does mean that this is all we get to see of him. And while the writing in the series does drop us some breadcrumbs, (and an excellent flashback character history for Matt eventually) it's mostly up to the reader to figure out what his deal is.

Also, the Spider-Gwen series is just great? The art is a little different (extreme colors, exaggerated anatomy, etc) but I think that it plays really well with the "punk rock" aesthetic and helps create an atmosphere of chaos and grime. Earth-65 is a lot crappier than Earth-616 and similar universes in a lot of ways, and it's really well expressed through the art style. You feel like everything has a thin layer of smoky ash on it and just want to go home and shower. (In a good way? haha)

As for how the idea for the ask blog came about... It's sort of a multi-part answer. At the most basic level, I realized it had been a while since I'd done much drawing, and I wanted to create a "low stakes" project that would encourage me to draw frequently and feel more at ease with just "getting something done" vs "getting something perfect". I thought the idea of doing a loose comic series or ask blog would help me create artworks that are sort of "temporary" meant to be enjoyed but not necessarily saved and stared at and studied forever and ever. I had also recently participated as an artist in a big bang where I tried to emulate a manga style to match the author's subject matter, and I found I really enjoyed using comic tones in Clip Studio, so I wanted a project that would let me play with that tool and learn how to use it in different ways.

So, what to draw a comic about? Well, at this point I had started wading into the waters of Daredevil as a fandom, even drawn a few little pieces of fanart here and there, so it seemed like I should follow that vein of interest. But, being a new kid in town, I was a little worried about just doing a regular ask blog with the standard comic or even tv show characters. I didn't feel like I knew enough about the backstory and history of the characters, and that I'd end up making mistakes or mischaracterizing them, and since DD seems to be a smaller fandom (well, that's changing now) made up of very dedicated fans, I didn't want to get it wrong. So I started thinking about what "spin" I could put on the characters to help show this was a different version/my own take on the characters, and that things might not be exactly in line with canon etc. And then I remembered Murderdock. Ah ha!

There were a lot of things that made it a great fit for my idea. The limited amount of canon meant that I was responsible for less official canon information. But what information *was* there was rich ground for ideas, which is one of the reason he's such a great villain. One of the things that is the most fun for me is character studies, understanding motivations, understanding why people do things the way they do them. Murderdock is *so* much fun for me because he's a bit like a magician. He's flashy and over the top and obnoxious with his almost cartoon villainy, but it's all misdirection so you don't pay attention to his true motivations. What could be more fun than that to play with?

But, I also (like so many of us) have a soft spot for Foggy, and Foggy and Matt do have a "working" relationship in Spider-Gwen but it's broken and toxic and a far cry from their friendship in almost every other canon. Again, we only get tiny hints of why it is that way, or why Foggy even bothers to stick around/let himself get manipulated by Matt so readily, but that's just a perfect playground for me.

I really get to poke at these two and figure out not just what makes them tick as individuals (I have so many headcanons about my versions of them) but as a partnership (for lack of a better word). A college setting made the most sense, since it forced the two of them to be together (and is canon, even in Earth-65) but I think at this point neither one of them are fully the people they are when we see them in Spider-Gwen, so I get to figure out a little bit more about how they get to that point, which is entertaining for me. I really do put a lot of thought into even the silly answers and drawings, it's kind of like I'm painting the picture that's on each piece of a puzzle before I put it down in place on the table.

I will say that I do kind of try to keep an overarching plot in mind (and I intend to keep updating the comic more or less in line with real time, give or take some fumbles when IRL keeps me away) but I guess I also have the events of Spider-Gwen in mind as a sort of "endgame" for how things turn out. Of course... I also have plenty of ideas on how to fix things after that series comes to pass... I guess it just depends on how much steam I have to keep carrying the blog on to see how far we get with these two. To that end, all the likes, asks and REBLOGS <3 <3 <3 <3 really do help with motivation, so I want to thank everyone that has taken the time to help me in those ways, and especially you for sending me this most kind ask. I hope I didn't talk your ear off, I could talk about my little pet project for days and days...

Summer

Hello! I am SO sorry for having gone MIA all of a sudden on Tumblr and Ao3, but life caught up once exams ended and I was in a deep, dark place for sometime. But not to worry, because I'm definitely better now, and finally got over my writer's block/unmotivation (if that's a word) and what better way to start off writing again if not with a Hinny fic?

As usual, I hope you enjoy this sort of non-magic alternate universe, maybe a modern meet-cute of sorts? From the one and only Ginny Weasley's perspective, of course.

The summer was harsh in Cornwall, which was where Ginny's family home was situated. She went up to university in London, just having recently finished her second year in Drama. Last summer, she was on a long trip with her best friend Luna, and hadn't been able to make it down to be with her family. But this year, she fully intended to spend as much time as possible with them, even if her older twin brothers were being annoying arses.

"Fred, George, just wipe the bloody tables already!" She screamed, exasperated, even though the twins were not even 20 feet away. The only unique cafe-by-day/restaurant-by-night was owned by Ginny's family. It was a quaint place, serving the best coffee to tourists and locals alike, along with not such a sharply contrasted cosy restaurant theme the place adopted when the sun went down.

And currently, the cafe was a few hours away from opening as a restaurant, and was left in the care of Ginny and her older twin brothers. She had another older brother after the twins, but he was off with his university friends (being an year older) and had even MORE older brothers ranked above the twins. Her oldest brother Bill, worked as a vet in New York, also where the second brother Charlie worked as an art curator. The third brother Percy was currently obtaining his PhD in some sort of Math which Ginny was too 'humanities' to understand (in Percy's own words, that subject bigot). The brothers after Percy, twins Fred and George were as stated, being annoying prats but worked in some sort of prank shop, much to their mother and Percy's chagrin (Between us and her, Ginny never understood why Percy felt a need to voice this opinion, because if Ginny also opened her mouth to provide an opinion on every single thing under the sun, working in a prank shop was perfectly acceptable).

Finally the last brother Ron went to university in Devon, having recently finished his degree in Astronomy combined with Philosophy, and that was it. Growing up with 6 older brothers, Ginny was significantly hot tempered, a trait often made fun of because of her (and her whole family's) flaming red hair.

"Oh for God's sake the two of you, just shut up if you don't want to do any work!" She finally snapped, causing two identical pairs of brownish eyes to look at her.

"Okay!" They smirked, before actually rushing away to the back of the cafe. Ginny sighed, wondering for the tenth time that afternoon why she bothered to come down here in summer. The twins, despite being her favourite, were useless gits-

"Ginny! Where are Fred and George?" Her mother's voice flew out from the front of the store, removing Ginny from her trail of thoughts, where Molly stood with hands laden with grocery bags. Her father, Arthur, she saw outside from the huge floor to ceiling windows, was unloading the boot of their car of more paper bags.

"They ran away after being absolutely useless gits." She muttered angrily, almost aggressively wiping a glass and placing it on the shelves behind her.

Her mother let out a long suffering sigh, but nevertheless joined Ginny in tidying up the cafe. "They're quite irresponsible." Molly sighed, wiping down tables at a superhuman speed.

"Mum if it's okay, can I join Ron and his friends at the party happening down at the beach?" Ginny asked apprehensively. The question had been burning at the back of her mind since the morning when Ron actually invited her to the beach party being thrown by one of the local boys. He had brought his uni friends and girlfriend down from Devon, and Ginny had already met Hermione, Ron's soulmate, if their behaviour was anything to go by.

Being in an all girls school, Ginny practically grew up with her girlfriends gushing about boys and celebrities, often almost swooning like some Victorian women when boys from the neighbouring school passed by their grounds.

However, Ginny was smart- if having six brothers had taught her anything, it was that boys were annoying, and only a few handful of them were actually decent. But now, looking at how close Ron and Hermione were, Ginny was starting to long for her own sort of romance. It had been over a year since she broke up with her first and only boyfriend Dean. She was convinced the breakup had solidified her stance on relationships, which was that relationships were okay but there was no need to actively look for one. Ron and Hermione's lovey dovey-ness was revolting, but uncharacteristically had Ginny pining away for her love story as well. Not that she'd ever admit it, of course.

"Well there's nothing really to do, and if it's busy there's a lot of pairs of hands to help. So sure, go on." Molly finally said and Ginny could almost fist pump, if it wasn't for the wet rag she was holding.

The evening rolled around quicker than Ginny anticipated, and before she knew it, her and Hermione stood in Ginny's small attic bedroom, getting ready for the party. "So, tell me, how was Dean?" Hermione asked, looking behind at Ginny through the mirror, where the younger girl stood blinking away extra mascara.

"Oh well, he was alright. Nothing like fireworks or sparkle." Ginny flushed slightly as she processed her own words. Oh, how she sounded like a lovestruck 12 year old.

However, Hermione didn't seem to mind. She simply grinned. "I'm sure with the right person it's more than just sparkles and fireworks." Hermione winked, and Ginny wondered if there was more to the statement than she understood. However, Hermione was already done with the topic, now going on about her course and what plans Ginny had for after university.

They walked downstairs, finding Ron standing at the door, his eyes glued to Hermione as she walked down the stairs. To be fair, Hermione definitely looked stunning- even if it was for a casual beach party. Ginny noted slightly bitterly to herself how the simplest pair of jeans and top could make one gorgeous to the right eyes. She breathed deeply as Ron wrapped an arm around his girlfriend, the girlfriend in question smirking back at Ginny as she followed them. Okay, very confusing.

The walk to the beach from the cafe was short, and there was already a bonfire going in the distance, with some upbeat song playing from someone's phone. "So, where is Harry and everyone else?" Hermione asked, looking around. Ron still had a hand in Hermione's as the two of them looked around for who had to be Ron's friends. "Neville!" Ron suddenly yelled good naturedly, as a tall guy walked towards the three of them with a big grin on his face.

"Ron! Hermione!" Neville hugged each of them in turn, smiling broadly at Ginny.

"Neville, this is my younger sister Ginny. Ginny, that's one of our friends from uni, Neville." Ron introduced. Ginny waved, which was returned by Neville.

"Is your girlfriend here as well?" Hermione asked, to which Ron added, "Oh, do we finally get to meet the elusive To-Be-Mrs. Longbottom?"

Perhaps having noticed Ginny's confusion, Neville clarified. "These two here haven't had the chance to meet my girlfriend- well, fiance as of a week, yet. In answer to your question Ron, no, she unfortunately couldn't make it. But she's been inviting the two of you over for dinner since ages." He turned to Ron.

"Actually yeah, we should definitely go. Anybody seen Harry?" Ron asked, looking around the small crowd of people. Ginny moved away from the couple to sit next to the fire, and grab a cold beer in the process.

She had just made herself comfortable slightly away from the warm fire when a figure sat down next to her, causing shivers to go up her left side. "Hi, you must be Ginny." The figure spoke and Ginny looked to the source of the voice, to be met by the unruliest mop of black hair she had ever seen on a human, and twinkling green eyes. In the soft light from the fire, they glowed slightly amber.

"I am. But I don't think I've met you?"

Ginny didn't get an answer because Ron's voice interrupted them. "Harry, you came!" He shouted, the figure (Harry) getting up to tackle Ron in a hug.

"Of course I did, getting sloshed at your best mate's beach party is always infinitely better than home." Harry grinned, and Ginny started to feel her heart race.

"I see you've met Ginny." Ron said, sitting down in between her and Harry.

"I just did, yeah." Harry smiled mischievously. They had moved closer to the fire, and in the brighter light, Harry's face was more distinct. And boy was he fit. The hair, even though messy, was not unattractive (quite the opposite), and his face was slightly round, made rounder by the permanent grin which seemed to reside there. And his eyes were covered by round glasses, reflecting off the orange from the fire.

"Well anyway, Gin, this is Harry, my best mate from university. He just made it down here to Cornwall." Ron said, and suddenly got up to fetch more drinks, but Ginny didn't miss the glares Hermione was shooting Ron from across the fire.

"Do you reckon we go a bit further away?" Ginny, being so busy interpreting the look Hermione was giving Ron, hadn't noticed the boy had shifted closer to her.

"Uh, sure." She found herself slightly tongue tied, staring into green amber.

"Brilliant, Let's go?" Harry got up, and lent Ginny a hand. She took it, and a slight warmth, probably not from the fire, ran down her spine when their hands remained connected.

They walked away from the party, not too far that a search team would be required, but just far enough to hold a conversation in peace. The music slightly played in the background, a slower guitar theme, and Ginny turned around to see Ron and Hermione swaying around the fire, the brightest smile settled on both their faces. Ginny simply let out a happy sigh, attention darting down to entwined hands.

"So, Ron tells me you're in drama?" He asked, as they sat down near the water with their legs bent, just that the waves touched their toes and washed back.

"Yes, I am, final year now. Although I haven't heard a lot about you?" Ginny teased. Harry simply chuckled, a sound she realised she found much more attractive than she should have.

"Well it's a shame since I am his best mate but, Harry Potter, third year medic, at your service." He lightly bowed his head, eliciting a giggle out of the girl.

"Medicine huh, that definitely sounds hectic." She commented, as her fingers drew an absent minded pattern in the sand separating their sitting figures.

"I also captain the football team." He replied, eyes shining with humor. Ginny looked up, wondering if it was a coincidence that the man she found extremely fit also checked off all her criterion of 'boyfriend'.

"Oh- well I don't know how you found the time to be here, what with studying and football." Ginny smiled. Harry looked back at her, eyes boring into her brown ones. "Only because I was told someone stunning was going to be here." He said in a lower voice. Ginny flushed under the stare.

"I'm sure having those feelings for your best mate's girlfriend is not a good idea." She teased, feeling some confidence seeping into her. Harry scooted closer, placing a hand on Ginny's.

"And what if I said they weren't for the girlfriend, but for the sister?" His eyes darted down to her lips, her own pulse quickening. Then continuing with her sudden confidence, she unconsciously leaned in, her lips just millimeters away from Harry's. "The sister would definitely like that because she thinks you're extremely fit too." Ginny whispered, her lips just brushing against Harry's before he closed the distance completely.

The two of them sat there, away from the party, lips moving in slow sync as if they were doing the communicating. Getting to know each other in silent movements, a dance of attraction and dominance. Thee music faded in the background, as behind her closed eyes Ginny saw stars, and faintly made out the sound of fireworks exploding behind them. Not that she'd admit it to anyone, of course.

But in that moment, it was just her, Harry and the cool water playing with their feet. And when they finally pulled apart, Ginny secretly swore that she saw her reflection in green pools glow and sparkle.

Not that she'd ever admit it, obviously.

1) why did you choose your url?

so i've been through a few different urls in the past, but i ended up settling on this one when i switched over to primarily kotor stuff. the canon "revanchist" url is held by an empty blog, so i took the next best available thing. (my previous url was skywalking-across-the-galaxy and it was chosen exclusively for the pun.)

2) any sideblogs?

i made one as a joke to make in-character sith years revan, malak, and jedi exile in universe social media posts with a couple friends about a year ago. i don't actually do anything with it but it Exists.

3) how long have you been on tumblr?

since early 2016, i think my blog's anniversary is in april? oh god that was a lot longer ago than i want to think about.

4) why did you originally start your blog?

because i had just gotten into the doctor who fandom and i wanted to reach a wider audience with fanfiction. i was 16/17 and brand new to fandom as a group experience and ended up on tumblr after discovering that ao3 existed.

5) why did you choose your icon?

my icon and header change from time to time, when i feel like changing things up a bit, but for quite a while now my icon has been this absolutely stunning portrait of my Revan done by my beloved @stellorc, who is a dear friend and an incredible artist. it is the best piece of art i currently have of my Revan and since she's the main character i focus on and write about these days, i figured she should be the centerpiece! also i just love looking at that art.

6) why did you choose your header?

my header is a color-changed gif from the kotor remake teaser trailer done by @tarrevizsla, with a quote that someone stuck on an edit of the early kotor comics to describe Revan going against the Council to join the war, which has always stuck with me as very appropriate. I Just Think It's Neat and also symbolism.

7) what is your post with the most notes?

uhhhh that's hard for me to tell because my blog is old. a tcw art i commissioned in 2018 is pretty big. a few chat posts i made during my sequels era. the HK-47 locket shitpost i made has just over a thousand and is definitely my largest-note kotor/swtor related post!

8) how many mutuals do you have?

unknown and i'm not going through to count all of them. quite a few. my entire discord server (or the people who talk actively at least). hello beloved tor hell friends. (pspspspsps come join tor hell)

9) how many followers do you have?

2014, somehow. not many of them interact with me. a lot are from my doctor who or tcw days.

10) how many blogs do you follow?

2285. i should probably go through and prune that there are a lot of people i don't even know who they are anymore lol.

11) have you ever made a shitpost?

more times than i'd like to admit to, yes. my most popular recent one is definitely this gif:

12) how many times do you use tumblr a day?

let's just say i'm terminally online.

13) have you ever fought another blog?

yeah. i'm proship and have been known to ship some "problematic" things back in the day. i haven't been as badly involved in discourse but yknow how things go. also i will go to war to defend my friends.

fuck those. if you say i MUST reblog something i am immediately going to Not Do That just out of spite.

15) do you like tag games?

absolutely, just sometimes i'm slow to respond.

yes! i love interaction! i crave it! however sometimes i can be bad at responding and then i feel horribly guilty whoops

17) which of your mutuals do you think are tumblr famous?

none who are tumblr famous but i am mutuals with @renesassing my beloved, who is a pretty damn popular artist, so there's that

18) do you have a crush on a mutual?

not particularly no. i mean one of my mutuals (i'm sure no one can guess which one) is my platonic partner and best friend but like. that's it lol
