I missed tipsy asks 😭😪. I'll just drop this for whenever you do them again. What is the sanctity world like? I know the boys are still traditional and kinda exist in the past with the way they speak and dancing the waltz etc but is it very similar to our modern world? Or held back more due to the lack of much human contribution? Like what movies tv shows songs exist in the Sanctity world ? What do the boys hate most about the modern world?

Girl I should make tipsy hours more often!! Honestly maybe I'll just do "under the influence" hours since I started smoking again....

So I have this quoted from my initial brainstorm dump when I first started developing Sanctity last summer:

"" Newport, Rhode Island, USA. Sort of a fantasy world meets IRL, somewhat dystopian– set in modern times (2024, as of right now..) . Vampires are a respected, important class, most humans are “below”. Elite humans (the rich and important, like government etc.) work with vampires and cater to their demands. Middle class and lower class humans serve as “blood banks'' to the vampires. Sanctuaries are where humans (acolytes ?) with rare blood types (the best kinds in the eyes of vampires) are “kept”, where they keep themselves pure, and train to eventually become a blood bank for a vampire. ""

Yoongi mentions that their coven is "old-fashioned". Since it's headed by Seokjin, who's an ancient monarch, I think he attracted the rest of the members with his old-world ways. Kindred spirits. Take Taehyung for example: He dresses in old Gilded Age tweed suits and carries a pocket watch, meticulously makes sure his 100 year old mansion is maintained, and behaves like a businessman from that era. Each of the vampires keep old behaviors from their times, almost like when they were turned, time stopped in certain ways and they were stuck with those traits. I think that makes sense? LMK if it doesn't hfdsjs

I'd say the setting is a mixture of old world and new. If you ever go to Newport, Rhode Island (where the story takes place) It's very much like that in real life-- or, if you look up pictures of the area on Maps, you'll see that modern/old mix that's super cool and unique. Just add a really skewed class system and immoral vampires!

The media question is interesting and I've been wrestling with that. I have Yoongi as an apprentice of Leonardo Da Vinci, so he existed in that world. He also painted Marilyn Monroe, mentioned in Chapter Two, so she did as well. Jimin went from writing plays (Regency Era, think Jane Austen) to screenplays and directing movies as time went on. Jeongguk is shown listening to Hip-Hop in his car. I think pop culture won't have such an emphasis in Sanctity as Trouvaille, but it's gonna be cool to play with!!!

So I'd say Tae and Jeongguk hate the modern world the least, since they're so young. Hoseok doesn't seem to mind it either, due to modern comforts and being such a greedy character. As for the others, I can see them being frustrated OR uninterested in the passing of time. After centuries, things may just be a blur to them.
