I would never like Show!Aemond because of how self-insert he feels like💀student of philosophy and history but couldn't control his dragon because he is a poor victim of bullying and just wanted to give Luke the same feeling of getting bullied, so basically the whole dance started because of a "prank gone wrong" this so lame asf💀
I don don't really get the point of it, because it goes against multiple canon facts, most targaryens claimed their dragons in their late teens, Aegon would never side with people he sees as bastards who were favored unfairly by his father. While I love the way the show made Aegon close to his nephew,I feel that this whole relationship only exists to make aemond's life miserable by "bullying him" he act as if he a bullied incel who turned into a mass school shooter. This really the worst background of a character they can come up with.
don't even get me started with the whole "Vhagar nooo"
hotd is very anti targaryen. This isn't even about team green Vs team black. All the targaryens were done dirty.
ryan condal has actually very little experience 💀 and I only found out recently because I made my brother curious enough to check after trash talking about hotd team for so long.
The themes of the dance were very much watered down, and I completely understand the whole "feels like a self insert" thing.
"most targaryens claimed their dragons in their late teens"
Seems like they never bothered reading the book or at least open up the wiki page to get that info.
"Aegon would never side with people he sees as bastards who were favored unfairly by his father."
they have misunderstood every single character anon. The fact that Aegon is even treated as some sort of pariah by his own family is so utterly ridiculous. First of all, it's more realistic for Aegon and Aemond to be close in childhood; they're both boys, they both feel they deserve more, from their pov they've been casted aside by their father. What's there not to bond over.
Of course they'd grow apart once they're grew older, but in the show they never seemed to have a bond in the first place.
And while I understand why they had Jace and Luke "growing up" with Aemond and Aegon - to basically show what it could have been. Have them be close so when everything falls apart the audience will feel heartbroken - that never happened. Because their "bond" was barely there for an episode, so how are we even supposed to buy they're besties?
And character wise, it also makes no sense for Rhaneyra to have her boys with her half brothers. While show Rhaneyra is like day and night with canon Rhaneyra, there's an obviously hostility between her and the queen even in the show. And why allow Criston Cole of all men to even be near her sons?
Again, 0 logic
And Aegon & Aemond are debately closer figures to Rhaneyra than to her sons. Jace and Daeron have only few months apart in canon age. Aegon & Aemond had no business with a baby. But of course the ages are all put in a blender so what do we expect?
"I feel that this whole relationship only exists to make aemond's life miserable by "bullying him" he act as if he a bullied incel who turned into a mass school shooter."
Dunno anon, I think their intentions were to basically give Aemond a "villain origin" story for the audience to sympathize. They kinda tried to do the same with Aegon but they retconned it with the rape.
Notice how there's nothing for Jace and Luke? Both of them were morally good characters. They tried to make them into bullies and be "aemond's villains" but even the general audience thought it was ridiculous.
