any suggestion or theory that armand has manipulated louis' memory in any way about anything is so so so boring to me tbh. i thing it's far more interesting if louis has told himself a different story that has superseded 'reality' (however we choose to define that) and only through reciting it does he begin to see the cracks in the narrative he's created

#i think defining reality irt an autobiography is really tricky and not clear cut bc of the way we view our lives and experiences #like the perception of the events of our own lives is subject to fluctuation based on new experiences that reframe old ones #so being definitive on something as subjective as your own history is really complicated in my opinion #like to ask if the original 70s interview is true or is the new one true is not a good question. they're both true #bc louis saw the events differently at those specific points in time. and he sees these events differently than claudia saw them #and they both see it differently than lestat would have seen it. i don't think any particular person is lying it's just what happens w pov #jacob on the podcast said that he wouldn't describe what louis is doing as lying but there's a version of events he's convinced himself of #and when the veracity of that version is called into question it unsettles him and makes him feel unstable #which is a far more interesting character trait than he was brainwashed by his current husband to see his past differently #i don't know why i've been seeing so many posts insinuating armand is brainwashing louis lately but god i think it's such a boring theory #vampterview
