Thank you so much for the tag @nightwardenminthara--I love these things! My words were candle, blade, moon, and blood. Some under the cut as I struggled with cutting some of these off lol
Candle:
“I could have been a bit more romantic about it,” she said at last, leaning into him. “Perhaps…candles, some sort of gift…”
Flame:
Hawke thought of Fenris then, for he’d more often than not been the one to pull her from the flames of her own making. She thought of his hands, of the way he’d been just as capable of ripping someone’s heart from their chest as he was of touching her softly as a breeze. She thought of his voice when he’d said her name in such moments; she thought of the way he sounded when he was exasperated with her joking. As the Nightmare righted itself, staggering from side to side like a drunk, she thought of the precise texture of Fenris’s hair against her fingers, of his mouth against her skin. She thought of the home they’d made together, which she had left to chase a rumor across Thedas. She thought of the promises she’d made and broken, of ink on pages that never seemed to get where they were going. Hawke thought of Fenris, lost and only love, and pulled magic into her chest by the fistful.
Moon:
His jaw was set, his eyes little more than glimmering shadows in this light. The moon had abandoned them, too, tucking herself away behind a convenient bank of clouds. Only Fenris and Hawke remained before the insufficient lamplight at her front door and the distant whistle of a guardsman.
Blood:
Wen untangled her fingers from Zevran’s hair and traced the scar across her knee instead. She thought about the way the crossbow bolt had felt between her fingers, wet with Nelaros’s blood. She could still feel the weight of it in her hand if she tried.
And in turn, the (vaguely spooky/autumnal) words I choose are shadow, hiss, smoke, leaf, and wind c:
Tagging (no pressure!) @dreadfutures @zenstrike @greypetrel @bitchesofostwick @vakarians-babe @transprincecaspian @star--nymph @jtownnn @idolsgf and anyone who'd like to jump in!
