"Well, then you should get rid of your hedgehogs!" "You can't just get rid of an animal! Your plants will not care if you rehome them, though!"

"He didn't mean it, Julianna," Percy whispered to his ficus tree. "Julianna?" Annabeth asked in disbelief. "You name them?"

Percy drew back in shock. "Of course! They're living, and you name your pets, so -" "That is not the same thing! Julianna can't respond to you!"

"Oh my gods, Annabeth - You are being so insensitive right now." Percy rolled his eyes in a jokey way. "Your plant does not have feelings. Adora and Sabine and Gracie and Pinecone do." Annabeth motioned to her dog, cat, and two hedgehogs.

"Oh, please. They only care because you feed them." Percy was definitely joking now. Annabeth crossed her arms. "This apartment is still too small for all of your plants. We need room to breathe." "Yeah, and your animals are already clogging up the air with their fur! I'm just trying to even it out." Percy said haughtily.

"Even it out?" Annabeth asked.

"Combat the cellular respiration with some photosynthesis," Percy smirked, shaking his shoulders as if it was obvious. Annabeth rolled her eyes fondly. "Of course," She chuckled softly, "why didn't I think of that?" She asked wryly. Percy came over and wrapped his arms around her. "Because you're too busy being right and spending too much time around animals to actually see the big picture," He whispered.

"Oh, yeah?" Annabeth asked. "And what do you suggest I do to fix that?"

"Learn to be a plant person." Percy said simply.

Annabeth's lips quirked up in a smile. "Never."
