#i didn't even talk about the time travel involved in that rabbit hole of a fic idea

Here's a little ramble about a random idea that's been plaguing me for a while. If anybody else has written stuff like this before or something, I'd love to see that.
I wish "The Tron AU" was a thing in fandoms. What I mean is any universe that has any kind of computer/s having fics written about the programs on those computers. Are these programs like their Users? Do they like their Users? How loyal are they to their Users? Are they annoyed when they get new Users? If it's a show where characters die, do their programs understand that their old User is dead?
For various reasons, this thought plagues me a lot when I watch Babylon 5. This is partially because one episode does halfway imply the station's computer may be sentient. I could ramble for hours about this particular potential AU, but I both haven't finished the series itself nor do I want to spoiler it for anyone who hasn't seen it. (I highly recommend it. It's got Peter Jurasik and BBox in it and it's free on Tubi, at least in the US.)
I just think the idea is really neat. And if it's a show/movie/franchise that takes place on Earth or in a future where Earth exists/existed, maybe the programs from Tron are like ancient legendary figures. This specific idea comes from me (by the inspiration of others; you know you cool cats are) setting it that the Babylon 5 universe is actually just the future of the Tron universe.
So, like, if the B5 Users got transported inside the station computer, some of the Security Monitors start telling grand stories of the great programs of the past. The other programs make fun of one of them for idolizing Tron, a program from thousands of cycles in the past. That bullied program tells Tron's story, upholding his status as a hero and his landmark meeting with a User. (A later chapter would then reveal a crew member's relation to Tron's User. ;) )
I just... I just have too many thoughts, too many ideas. My url doesn't lie.
