#i could imagine you'd feel more attached to this alternate world you now reside in

The Erins have so much potential to turn StarClan into something unsettling, and in fact have done so multiple times recently, but they don't realize it! And it's a shame because that would be fun to lean into.
The StarClan scenes in Squirrelflight's Hope creeped me out a little. Everyone felt artificially chilled out, detached from the real world and not caring about it anymore. And then there was that weird scene in Star where Jayclaw is trying to convince his own daughter to die and leave RiverClan to its fate. It really seems like StarClan cats forget what it's like to be alive and their biggest desire is for the living to join them. It's creepy. And I wish we could explore that instead of pretending this is objectively a good and healthy vision of "heaven" not worth analyzing.
#honestly if starclan cats do start to feel detached from the real world i couldn't really blame them#once you've been dead for years and most of the ones you love have joined you#and the living clans are no longer the same clans you grew up in#i could imagine you'd feel more attached to this alternate world you now reside in#sure you probably still care about the clans surviving but it's just a different sort of relationship#pigeon mews
