When engines blush, do their smokeboxes get hotter than normal?

Can engines kiss, or how else do they show affection?

I love the idea of them getting physically hotter when blushing , its just perfect to me XD (in the illustration oliver wouldnt be able to blush since his fire isnt lit but I drew it a little anyway) yes I am going to use this post as an excuse to talk about Douglas x Oliver

I have lots of other writers in the fandom to thank for some of these ideas ❤️

engines have a very different idea of personal space than humans do , they cant make physical contact the same way a human would (without derailing but I do think sir handel would derail himself for someone XD) being coupled face to face, buffer to buffer is a good example of an intimate gesture but its not exclusive to romance

I think their love language would be more rooted in acts of service and words , I can see Douglas working himself to the scrapyard for Oliver- and when either of them breaks down the other pulls the breakdown crane to help all the while scolding them like “did you break down just for me to come help” “oliver I love ye but I wouldn set ma brakes on fire for ye”

I dont think engines can kiss mostly because I feel awkward illustrating it 😭 I like the idea of them using the hinge of their smokebox door to give each other a smooch though XD It would be funny if they didnt swing open hard enough and ended up stuck or swinging open too hard and bumping their nose on the others’ cheek (and everything else on this post , linked because it makes me LOSE IT)

I am bad at wording this part but I think they sing to one another . Engines do this with each other in general because it makes monotonous workdays much more bearable but certain songs are reserved for their beloveds ❤️
