So there was a new Bumblekast episode (in case you don't know, it's a podcast where Ian Flynn and Kyle Crouse answer questions mainly regarding Sonic stuff) and one question was about the idea of a personality swap between Amy and Surge, in which Ian responded with the following:

In context of their feelings towards Sonic (aka Amy suddenly hating Sonic and Surge suddenly in love with him), both would recognize something is wrong and distance themselves from everyone so they can try to figure out how to fix it.

If their personalities were always swapped, then Amy would retain her love towards Sonic, except she wouldn't care about what anyone else thought, as it would be what she wanted, meaning everyone would have to just deal with it, while Surge would still hate Sonic, except it's for the concern of everybody else instead of her victimization, as she sees everyone constantly worshipping Sonic and just views him as a bad drug that everyone needs to quit.

I'm gonna try to listen to that later. The fact that no matter what, Surge and Amy's hate/love for Sonic is so ingrained into who they are is so interesting and something that I like about them, and even if something like that doesn't happen in canon, it'd still be cool to explore
