He let me see him sharpening them. That's the same as a heart to heart conversation with anyone else.

If he was truly planning to off the lad, Callum would be dead by now and I'd have no idea Runaan wanted it done. But he let me see him sharpening his blades. So I talked to him about how much I like the lad, how much he reminds me of myself when I was young and the world was wide.

Runaan kept sharpening, because he's a thorough caretaker of his equipment. But he also listened. He sees what he sees, but he listens to what I see, too. He trusts me, and I trust him. I wouldn't give my heart to a reckless monster, now, would I? That's not a trick question!
