You learn about the damage to durge's brain and cranium from an easy to miss NPC in the underdark that examines them. Specifically that the cranium has suffered severe trauma and that it is a miracle that their brain functions at all.

Could you imagine the reactions you'd get if other characters discovered this damage sooner in the story?

#baldurs gate 3 #spoiler #spoilers #dark urge #dark urge spoilers #i can't decide if shadowheart would pity you be horrified or attempt to kill you for it #but halsin would 100% be trying to be helpful #gale is very soft at the beginning so he'd probably lose his lunch #like you seek help from so many people and have the ability to tell them about the amnesia and the dark urge #you would think that if the damage to that area of the skull was so bad that someone would notice some sort of defect #like huh are you aware a part of your skull that should not be squishy is very squishy #or hey i felt and looked around your head because you complained of amnesia and there is evidence of a healed injury #this single line of dialogue can be so useful for fic inspiration #according to some info in act 2 this injury is fairly recent #like a few tendays old recent
