I'm listening to the first of the Ascendency books & can I just say, I did not expect Thrawn to be The Good Guy & Morality Pet of the Chiss. I am... Speechless.

Also that the Chiss seem to have a sort of millennial colloquialism thing going on?!? Thrawn talks like a sentient computer while the younger officers and aristocras are all like 'straight up' & 'ugh bummer'. I thought this man was some kind of omniscient military genius (I mean he is, but...) not the species equivalent of Too Oblivious To Survive in societal politics.

Let me be clear, I do not mind this AT ALL. I'm loving socially-inept awkward-dumbass Thrawn *a lot*.
