daily reminder for today that there is no one way to be butch, femme, or to be a butchfemme couple!

butches don't have to be hypermasculine, tall, or muscular. they don't have to be suave and mysterious. they don't need to have overtly masculine interests, like cars or fishing. they don't need to work jobs that are considered traditionally masculine, like construction.

butches can be short. butches can be skinny. butches can be bubbly, optimistic, dorky, and excitable. butches can have soft, "girly" interests, like collecting stuffed animals or baking. butches can work jobs that are considered traditionally feminine, like nursing. butches can be submissive, butches can be bottoms.

femmes don't have to be hyperfeminine, short, or thin. they don't have to be people pleasers or eternal optimists. they don't need to have overtly feminine interests, like fashion or knitting. they don't need to work jobs that are considered traditionally feminine, like secretaries.

femmes can be tall. femmes can be fat. femmes can be stand-offish, reclusive, and self/self-care oriented. femmes can have "masculine" interests, like fixing cars or sports. femmes can work jobs that are considered traditionally masculine, like mechanics. femmes can be dominant, femmes can be tops.

but the magic thing about butches and femmes is they CAN also be "traditional" in their butch or femme identity. butches can be hypermasculine. butches can love sports, butches can be truck drivers. butches can be stone tops, butches can be dominant. femmes can be high femme. femmes can be bubbly and vibrant, femmes can love girly fashion and pretty clothes. femmes can be stone bottoms, femmes can be submissive.

and just the same, there is no one way to be a butchfemme couple. a femme can be taller than their butch. a butch can have a smaller body type than their femme. a femme can top and a butch can bottom.

there! is! no! one! way! to! be! butch! or! femme!

btw sexuality labels do not have to be super specific with strict boundaries of what "qualifies" as being that sexuality. you do not have to base how you define your sexuality on the first description that comes up on google; history, culture, the nuances of personal experience, and what you feel connected to are just as important a part of how you choose to identify!

#brought to you by a lesbian continously annoyed at the 'non man loving non men' description of lesbianism #i used to think i had to wall myself off from being attracted to certain genders in order to continue identifying as a lesbian #but like. gender is weird and silly and so is sexuality!!#this isn't something i'm the most knowledgeable on but to my understanding before lesbian separatism the term lesbian was used a bit #differently than it is today - being attracted to men didn't make someone not a lesbian #which i like! cus i identify a lot with (especially femme) lesbian history #i like queer masculinity! in the particular way that is common for femme lesbians #to me being a femme lesbian describes my experience with the way i feel within myself and the way i love queer masculinity. it doesn't feel #contradictory to me to be in relationships with men. i luuuuv my boyfriends and #me being a lesbian doesn't mean i don't or that i don't see them as men or anything #i am not particularly good at the whole Social Constructs thing due to autism so that probly plays into it #it is all confusing and i don't necessarily understand some of it (even my own identities) but i go with what makes me feel like me #^-^#meg (boyfriend) saw this post and said ''i used to think i wasn't attracted to men. i was just looking at the wrong men''#which is sooo true

With pride month coming up, I'd like to remind people to pay attention to when the lesbian flag is excluded from designs or posts or merch drops or whatever. I personally don't reblog pride sets that don't include it, and while you're free to do whatever, please just pay attention.

We have our own flag and we have the right to not just be bunched under the rainbow flag as any other identity with their own flag does. The community flag is trans, nonbinary, and gnc inclusive and was personally voted on by. Well. The community. It's also so pretty? Don't ignore her.

Lesbophobia on this site has been. Atrocious lately and lesbians need all the outside support we can get, even if it's small things like ignoring those who ignore us! Please support lesbians this pride month!!! 🧡💛🤍🩷❤️

I like having my name again. Petrikov. Idk. It's definitely me, like. A lot. I dont feel much attachment to a lot around me, i think that's what I've been trying to communicate. "Existing is hard" ... when you ... haven't existed before, in this realm, with these people, but your body has. It remembers what you cant, and something in you holds the memory... but. It also wasn't you. It was... something Else . I'm not sure. I just wish i could focus on these books we got. They seem so cool.
