I went through a phase a while ago where I was really obsessed with learning the etymology of different names and sometimes I randomly remember that I have that information so here's the etymology of different Pathologic Characters names!

I am by no means an expert. Most of this is based off research I did a while ago. I used the anglicized spellings of their names because that's how they're spelled in the English translation.

Daniil: the name Daniil is Russian, it has Hebrew origins and means "God is my judge"

Dankovsky: the suffix -sky/ski/skiy means that it's affiliated with something, so it could mean "from dankov" or "descended from dankov" it has russian origins

Artemy: comes from the Saint Artemius, but it also has Greek origins, meaning "devoted to Artemis"

Burakh: likely derived from the Slavic name Burak, which means beetroot, but could also be from the Turkish/Arabic name "Buraq" which means lightning.

Clara: Latin origins, it means "bright" or "clear". She's named after Saint Claire of Assisi.

Eva: Hebrew origins and means "life" or "living one"

Yahn: Latin and Hebrew origins, means "God is gracious"

Alexander: Latin and Greek origins, means "protector/defender of man"

Saburov/Saburova: could be derived from the Arabic Sabur, meaning "patient or enduring" (this one I'm not sure about I could be wrong)

Blok/Block: German and Dutch origins, literally means "block" like a block of wood. It could also come from Old English and mean "Black"

Katerina: Greek origins, means "pure or clean"

Yulia: Latin origins, means "youthful"

Maria: has multiple meanings coming from Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. It could mean "bitter" or "rebellious" but it could also mean "beloved" or "of the sea"

Stanislav: Slavic origins, means "achieving glory and fame"

Rubin: Jewish and Latvian origins, means "behold, my son"

Peter: Greek origins, means "rock or stone"

Andrey: Greek origins, means "warrior" or "manly"
