just watched ammonite 👍🏻 it destroyed me 👍🏻 i didn't find out until afterwards that it's from the same guy who made god's own country, which in hindsight i really should have realized sooner. both movies say more with silence than dialogue and stylistically they're veryyy similar. also the way color is used in ammonite is beautiful, with the clothes and the weather especially. mary's line about how cold it was last year literally ripped my heart out. they're talking about the weather and i'm dry heaving, that's how you know it got me 🥲 bonus: through sheer physicality alone, kate winslet is believably butch even while dressed in traditional 1840s feminine garb. talent
