room 641 - chapter 001 ! what happened to room 641?

after shoving all their bags into the trunk, the 5 girls hop into the van and set course to the hotel.

"be sure to get some rest! with traffic, the drive from san diego to la is roughly 3 hours." the eldest, as well as the one driving, sakura, instructs.

the other four girls hum in response before buckling their seatbelts.

only 30 minutes in, yet yunjin was already tired of having to sit with eunchae.

"zuha," she calls out to kazuha, who was riding shotgun.

"could you switch with me? i dont want to be next to eunchae any longer."

before kazuha could respond, let alone comprehend the question in the first place, eunchae furrowed her brows and turned to her left to meet yunjins glare.

"what's wrong with sitting next to me? i hadn't even said anything this entire ride so far!" she defended herself.

"after that shit you pulled yesterday, the day before, and the entirety of this month? yeah no, id rather not be here at all then sit with you." yunjin shot back, referring to eunchaes endless complaining and spending on yunjin’s card.

chaewon sighed and rubbed her forehead, already knowing which direction this conversation would be heading. she knew there was no point in stopping them, after all.

"why are you even going on this trip in the first place? all you do is show up unannounced and uninvited, acting as if you're actually wanted here in the first place-" eunchae rambled, but before she could finish, yunjin hit her in the back of her head.

as an immature response, eunchae pulled yunjin's hair, almost elbowing chaewon's eye in the process.

"i wish you'd just go away so id never have to see you again!" yunjin grumbled out loud, fixing her hair back in place as kazuha forcefully pulled eunchae off.

"gosh, we could never do anything peaceful without those two bickering all the damn time.." sakura whispered to kazuha.

"tell me about it- i just constantly wonder if we'll ever get a break." she replied.

after arriving at the hotel, they met up with their other friends riki, jungwon, sunwoo, and haknyeon, who would be staying with them as well.

they got their bags out their cars, and walked to the front desk to check in.

after making sure nothing was left behind, sunwoo went to check into the rooms for everyone.

"-you're kim sunwoo, who has a total of 2 rooms booked under the 2 bedroom suites, correct?" the receptionist asked.

he nodded his head in response, slightly tapping his foot out of annoyance as well as impatience.

"i see you're getting a bit impatient, that's alright. your rooms will be 640, and 642."

"not to offend, but why 642, instead of 641? it's just an odd order to me." sunwoo questioned in confusion.

the receptionists face went slightly pale before she held back a slight grin. creepy..

"don't worry about it! oh- and one more thing,"

she leans forward and whispers into sunwoos ear.

"sometimes it's best to keep the door shut."

but when sunwoo took a few steps back, the lady was no where to be seen.

extremely paranoid, he walked back towards the group and passed out the room keys.

finding the elevators, they went up and onto the floor where their rooms were. but it seems, only sunwoo and potentially yunjin were the only ones to notice the fact that there was no room 641 in between rooms 640, and 642.

as everyone began to unpack, time seemed to go by faster then expected. before they knew it, it was already 11pm.

after a few soju bottles and many cigarettes later, they were all either slightly tipsy or high out of their minds. no in between. to no surprise, the only non intoxicated were eunchae, riki, jungwon, and haknyeon.

a drunken yunjin stumbles into the hallway to leave the trash bag outside their door, but swears she's imagining it when she sees a door to their right with the number "641".

"am i seeing things or did that just magically appear.." she muttered to herself.

"you're not seeing things, it's real." a small voice spoke into her ear, but when yunjin turned around, nobody was there.

after the creepy encounter, she walked back into the room, and immediately told sunwoo about the weird experience.

"that's insane.. because when i was getting our room keys, i had a similar experience.."

"there's no way this hotel is haunted, right?" yunjin thought out loud, but quietly. so only sunwoo could hear her.

"no way! i don't believe in that type of shit, jen. but.. maybe you're right. this place has a weird vibe, theres absolutely no denying it. but, would anyone even believe us?”

despite their heavily intrusive thoughts, sunwoo and yunjin told their friends about what they knew.

of course, riki suggested going to open the door, but sunwoo felt shivers go down his spine as he recalled what the receptionist had said to him just earlier, “sometimes it’s best to keep the door shut”.

feeling skeptical, yet he still agreed as he too was curious.

much to yunjins surprise, the door to room 641 was still there. only this time, it seemed to be calling for them to open it. but how?

hours of picking at the lock and continuously pounding on the door with heavy objects, the clock had just struck 2:35am.

finally, it opened. and of course, everyone walked inside with little to no hesitation. everyone, but eunchae. almost as soon as she stepped through the door, she felt off. as if something was out for them, as if she was well aware of it too.

"whats wrong?" haknyeon called out to her.

eunchae sighed and quickly responded with a “nothing”, before she had walked all the way through, attempting to catch up with the rest of the group.

the one thing nobody saw, was the fact that the door was closing up and beginning to shrink smaller, and smaller, till eventually, it was gone. and then once again, all you could see were rooms 640, and 642.
