im playing okamiden for the first time since 2011 and oog I really loved it back then and I still do enjoy it but now that I’ve played okami several more times in the years since I do now get why people didn’t like it

like I got to the part with shiruanui and it really is just a clusterfuck lmao, ishaku introducing them as shiranui even though it was made clear in the last game he knew that wasnt her real name, and the whole grandson thing??? insinuating that shiranui is ammy’s father?? what??? why??? shiranui is consistently referred to ‘you in the past’ when issun speaks to amaterasu so how does that make sense???

#sorry im rlly into okami again #i actually did a bunch of art im gonna post here in a batch once it's all inked #there's more stuff i don't like about it now tho like the sense of exploration is gone #and the story/characters/dialogue feels like such an immense step down #like take the scene with raiden where he just #randomly revives a guy and then decides he's now at peace and can move on #it happens in all of 20 seconds and you're shoehorned into going into the scene instead of just organically coming across it #the childhood nostalgia hasn't entirely saved this game for me but i am still having fun fdshfjdas
