Sampo may seem like an "easygoing fella", as he describes himself, and seems to talk more than he is silent but it's a role he plays. Getting Sampo to open up and be genuine and honest with you is incredibly difficult and takes a long, long time and through it all he is pining so much. So once he's actually with you and fully gives his heart to you, he craves your affection like it's the air he breathes

He always indulges you when you decide to basically shower him in affection. You'll be planting kisses all over his face and Sampo has the proudest, happiest smile on his expression as if someone just crowned him king of Belobog.

He loves deep kisses. He'd be up for kissing you for an hour straight if you wanted to. He puts on a nice lip balm in your favorite flavor just for you. Just so you keep feeling like kissing him. He adores when you cup his cheeks and kiss him like this is your last day together. It makes his heart flutter.

Sampo feels he's living the dream with someone as affectionate as you. He's a man who wants to be spoiled and pampered. Literally melts and wonders whether he's in heaven already when you hold him in your arms and place soft kisses on his forehead. He snuggles closer to you, nuzzling your neck and you can smell his shampoo as you rest your head on top of his. It's really nice. Occasionally he pecks your neck and tries to cling to you even more than he's already doing.

You know those couples who make out in the hallway whilst other people are present? That's Sampo except in the Administrative District of Belobog. He thinks you look cute holding a small bouquet he got you at the flower shop and he decides if he wants to kiss you now, the tram and its driver, who is already cursing at you for standing in the way, can wait.

He's always happy when you want to hold his hand. But it also is never enough for him. You reach for his hand and he pulls you into a hug or presses a kiss to your lips almost reflexively.

Listen, Sampo is a sucker for compliments. He was thinking about "tall, blue and handsome" but any compliment that comes out of your mouth literally sounds so much better than that. He'd love to be called a pet name like "love" or "darling". Makes him feel like in a way you're partners in crime even if you're not participating in his scams.

There's nothing that makes Sampo's heart beat faster than you being bold with your affections. Pulling him into a kiss in front of a whole crowd. Trailing soft pecks down his neck while you're hiding from the Silvermane Guards. Announcing to your friends who may not approve of him as your boyfriend that he's the love of your life. He's down bad when you do stuff like this.

Blade tries to not show it on his face how much he adores how affectionate you are with him. He's never imagined himself as someone who's into this type of thing but surprises can come even to someone who has lived as long as he has.

Blade prefers slower, more soft affections from you behind closed doors as opposed to Sampo. He loves when the two of you are cuddled up in bed and you tell him how much you love him and kiss his cheek repeatedly.

Sometimes when he's back from a mission for the Stellaron Hunters, you'll immediately run up to him to embrace him. You'd pull him into a desperate but slow kiss, whispering against his lips that you were worried and that you love him, and Blade leans into your touch and his expression changes from one of stoicism or concern to an uncharacteristically soft and affectionate one. "Don't worry... I'm here now. I'll be alright", he always reassures you even on days where that couldn't be further from the truth.

After a long and stressful day, Blade loves when you drag him to have a warm bath with you. You help him wash his long hair and he falls asleep with his head on your chest inside the bathtub because the feeling of your fingers massaging his scalp makes him relax into your embrace immediately. You have to chuckle at how peacefully he rests in your embrace. You only decide to end his nap once the water has started feeling a little cold. You wake him up with soft kisses and he hums quietly as he's waking up. As soon as he's aware of his surroundings again, he turns his head for his lips to find yours.

When Blade comes back from a battle, his skin is often sore and he feels tense so he loves when you help him relax by giving him a nice massage or pressing kisses to the scars that line his shoulders while whispering soft praises. You can see his facial expression relax and he looks so much more at peace already. His shoulders are also very sensitive so he just leans back and focuses on your kisses for a while whilst holding your hand in his.

Blade has calloused hands and slightly chapped lips. He's happy you still want to hold his hands and kiss him even though his skin is not soft. You tell him that this just means he has been through things and needs your love even more. "What would I do without you?", Blade chuckles lightly and lets you pull him into a hug.

Gets flustered at PDA. Especially if it's in front of his fellow Stellaron Hunters. He'll be chatting about Elios recent prophecies with Silver Wolf and Kafka and if you're the type of person to run up to him and try to bear hug him he's like 😳

Let's you call him Bladie but only if it's followed up by a kiss or an "I love you"

Blade is more of a passive lover but you can be certain that he enjoys every bit of your affectionate side.

He cleared his throat and adjusted the microphone, feeling the weight of the moment. Before he began singing “This Girl” by Hunter Hayes, Mickey spoke into the microphone, his voice filled with emotion. “I want to dedicate this song to someone very special. To the one who’s stolen my heart and made every moment unforgettable. Y/N, this one’s for you. Hopefully this song tells you how I feel about you.”

The applause that followed Mickey’s performance was thunderous, and his friends from the Dagger Squad cheered for him with pride. Mickey, however, had only one person on his mind as he navigated through the crowd to where his girlfriend stood in the crowd. He couldn’t wait any longer to express what had been in his heart for so long.

Reaching her side, Mickey gently took her hand and looked deeply into her eyes. The world around them seemed to blur as he began to speak, his voice filled with emotion. “I love you, Y/N.” Her eyes welled up with tears of joy as a radiant smile spread across her face. She had been waiting to hear those words for what felt like an eternity. With a voice choked with emotion, she whispered, “I love you too, Mickey.”

In that tender moment, their unspoken words had finally found their voice. Their love was now out in the open, stronger than ever. Without hesitation, Mickey cupped Y/N’s face in his hands, and they shared a passionate kiss, sealing their love with a promise of a future filled with adventure, support, and boundless affection. Their friends couldn’t have been happier for them. The room erupted in applause once again, with their fellow pilots and Academy friends celebrating their newfound happiness. My third playlist of new music from mainly new bands and new artists, with a couple of well known acts thrown in for good luck!! But the tracks are new music from 2024. It's mixed genres of music from many different countries. Makes no difference, where the tracks appear in the playlist, they are all good.

I feel 40 is good number of tracks not too long or too short in listening time for your enjoyment. The whole playlist is only two hours and fifteen minutes long.

I used to do these just through Soundcloud, but thought i might as well add it to my Spotify also. So i will add two links to the playlist and can use which ever one you prefer.

Z-King: oh boy imagin what Starscream would do if he finds out about how Megatron treats the warrior candidates, especially if Gabi opens her big mouth

Oh Starscream kills Gabi because she doesn't shut her big mouth.

Let's pick up where we left off. Starscream has taken over Marley. He's riding the absolute high of beating Megatron in combat. Possibly killing him even (he should really double tap that.) Marley and the world is his to command and rule, but something is bothering him. Like an itch in the back of his mind.

What was Megatron doing here in the first place? And why was he helping humans? Somethings not adding up.

He tells the bounty hunters to find some information about this. The Bounty Hunters are like, we did our job pay us. But Starscream states that their job is done when he says it's done. So Starscream is kind of holding them hostage, but he does promise higher pay (possible lie). The Bounty Hunters don't want to cross Starscream, especially with all that power he has, so they just comply.

They do find out some suspicious information about a human named 'Matthew Hayes', with red eyes and proficiency in combat skill, and Starscream immediately recognizes that it was Megatron. He was aware he had a holoform, but he just didn't know what it looked like. Starscream demands why the hell they didn't grab him when they had the chance, but they justify it as 'all the humans look the same. They're slimy and gross. Why would they even bother?'

Starscream processes this and is like 'Yeah, I would've thought the same thing.' So he let's it slide for now.

But he finds out that Megatron, as Matthew Hayes, was training the Warrior Cadets. Which he finds amusing. He assumes that it was going to be a double cross for his own self interest. Not out of character for Megatron. Hell, he would even buy Megatron aligning himself with Optimus. At least Megatron knows Optimus. Why would Megatron work with humans? Willingly?! His pride wouldn't allow it!

So he decides to bring the Warrior Cadets in: Colt, Gabi, Zofia, Falco, and Udo. He scares them, puts on that little devious show, and then rips the rug from under them by revealing Matthew as Megatron. All of them are devastated, and Gabi is vehemently denying Starscream's proclamation, calling him a liar and a devil. And Starscream's initially amused by this, laughing even at Gabi's plight. He decides to asks what made Megatron so special? So different from all the others who scorned and ridiculed them and called them devils.

And Gabi starts listing all the nice and wonderful things that Megatron had done as Matthew. He treated them with respect. He believed that they were capable. He got them treats as rewards. He even helped set a grave for Bertholdt. No one has ever done that for them before!

And Falco...is noticing something horrid. Starscream's amused expression, is turning into one of anger and malice. His amused grin turns into a frown, then a snarl, and those red optics are just now full of fury. Falco begs Gabi to just 'Shut up! Now!' because this was getting worse, but Gabi is just so insistent on trying to prove Starscream wrong.

And Starscream is just furious. Ever kind act that Gabi is listing, he is only reminded of the pain he went through under Megatron's command. The verbal and physical abuse, the threats on his life, the beatings, the humiliation. Every agonizing day he lived in fear because of him, and Megatron suddenly turned around?! He was acting kind now?! With no incentive?! He had no right to act that way after wronging him so many times! He doesn't have the right to be happy! HE DOESN'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO MOVE ON!

The high he was feeling for the past few days is now replaced with unbridled rage. He pulls out his blaster, screams at Gabi to shut up, because this stupid brat would shut up! And before Gabi could think, he blasts her away. Incinerates her into dust in an instant, in front of the remaining Warrior Cadets and the Bounty Hunters.

So you're probably wondering, why do this? Why would Starscream kill Gabi in this timeline? A few reasons. One: Starscream is not in the right head space when it comes to dealing with the trauma that Megatron inflicted on him. To have his abuser be happy?! That was such bullshit! And he needed to take his anger out on someone. Two: Sure, it's the loss of a Warrior Cadet, if he wants to hold bargaining chips, but he has four more right there. Killing one because she badmouthed him was a perfect way to set an example for the remaining four and control them with fear and get them to do his bidding. Three: The human insect would just not shut the hell up, so he shut her up permanently.

So the remaining four Cadets are sobbing over Gabi's death, and the Bounty Hunters are a little put on edge by Starscream's irrational behavior right there. Specifically the former Autobot turned Bounty Hunter. I'd like to imagine he would still have some moral code about harming someone not on the kill list and he's just thinking:

And Starscream orders the Warriors Cadets to be taken away. He then hisses at the bounty hunters in anger, with a new found drive of revenge, to hunt down Megatron wherever he was on this wretched dirt ball and bring him here. He was going to make Megatron suffer for everything he put him through!

off the top of my head, i have a few!

more like a ballad, let's start off with Wanted by Hunter Hayes. despite it using the word 'girl', i like to imagine this is interchangeable between the pov of sophie or keefe. it's all about wanting to make your partner feel wanted. and i think that's a very important part of sokeefe's dynamic. they want to make sure that the other is very aware that they are invested in them.

you know i had to add a Taylor Swift song... i'm thinking Daylight. it's a daydream-like song about leaving the darkness and stepping into the light of forgiveness and love - both for yourself and others. the song feels like an embrace! i think the warmth of it works very well for sophie and keefe :)

another cute one is Nonsense by Sabrina Carpenter. this is an innocent, lighthearted pop hit - perfect for them! it's all about feelings for your significant other and getting so anxious around them that you lose control of your mouth and start blabbering nonsense. which... let's face it: that's pretty sokeefe ;)

if you're looking for a calmer one, Compass by The Neighbourhood is a solid pick! it's about the person you love being your guiding light. without them, you have a greater chance of being lost. you need them by your side!

So, to continue the conversation, I do want to say that in Mark of the Fool, there has been regular progress to this point. From what I see, the main plot has been: Alex wants to be a wizard but gets the Mark ->Alex escapes Thameland and gets dungeon core questions-> Alex secretly analyzes dungeon core ->Alex creates golem with dungeon core ->Alex uses results to convince Baelin to have expedition -> Alex works with Heroes to find secrets of dungeon core. There are also the attacks from the hunters, as a bit of more driving force. So, while slow, I think the story has been chugging along. And it's not like really good books, like the Name of the Wind, don't take forever to resolve main plot points. Think of the Harry Potter series. Isn't Voldemort a plot point that wasn't resolved for 7 books?

Also, Baelin is obviously pan. He's tried everything.

What stories/ books/ authors have you enjoyed? I'm a big fan of Drew Hayes' novels, like his Spells, Swords and Stealth series.

i mean i think harry potter is a good example? in the first book, voldemort is introduced as part of harry's "actually, you're secretly rich and famous!" backstory, and to set up the tension that there might be voldemort followers who might want him harm, leading to the book-long narrative tension about snape wanting to kill him, etc. the reveal at the end that quirrel is possessed by voldemort is a end-of-story reveal, rather than being introduced at the beginning of the book. that sets up voldemort as a recurring antagonist who can drop in for later books. each book after that (well until jkr got famous enough to refuse editing) has a more-or-less self-contained plot with lower stakes, but that usually touches on some aspect of voldemort rising as a threat, until he becomes the actual primary antagonist at the end of book 4.

mark of the fool, meanwhile, sets up immediately that there's this centennial war with the ravener, chosen heroes, weird mystery around 'the fool' as kind of a cursed/useless figure. and alex's motivation to just get out of there & ignore it is totally reasonable from a character perspective, but still, the next time this plotline really gets touched on it's when alex returns to thameland around chapter ~280. i mean there are the three ravener hunters, but... like despite being the inciting incident for everything, the whole mark of the fool thing is more-or-less ignored as a story beat for a really long time and instead treated as a protagonist cheat power.

(so royal road says that mark of the fool is 3k pages long, which isn't fully correct since it has some removed chapters for publishing deals. but assuming that is correct, and... i'm gonna say a 'page' here is 250 words because i have no clue what royal road considers 'page length' but that's a decent average number, and that every chapter is more-or-less the same length, that would mean that it's currently in the rough ballpark of 750,000 words long, and that chapter 280 would be roughly 515,000 words into it. using harry potter as a measuring stick, that would be like halfway into book five, order of the phoenix. imagine if harry potter brought up voldemort as a present, looming threat in book 1 chapter 1, and then aside from him sending three flunkies after him he's first mentioned again four books later.)

plus there haven't really been a lot of plot arcs between that? like i'd chunk it up into "introduction/getting to genesari" (roughly the first 70 chapters?) -> "magic school junk" (to about chapter 280) -> "more magic school junk + return to thameland" (to now). like, sure, tournament arc, demon invasion, but i didn't find those super compelling. they end up not really mattering much, in the sense that they don't really present credible threats to the protagonist and you could skip them entirely and you wouldn't really be left with big holes in your understanding of plot developments going forward.

i'd say a lot of stuff like making the golem, investigating the dungeon core stuff, are goals, because they don't really... fundamentally change the character, right? alex wants to make a cool golem, alex makes a cool golem. now his amount of Progression has increased. "what's up with dungeon cores" hasn't really gotten a lot of advancement, i don't think? like they were introduced as mysterious magical artifacts of the ravener with incredible power, and now we know... they're powerful magical artifacts with a handful of practical applications! the only real development aside from finding out that the magic dust is really powerful is the 'only followers of uldar can do this' thing, which happens 360 chapters into this thing. several full-length novels later!

like, the whole thing where the golem might be becoming sentient b/c of the dungeon core dust in its core is more of an 'arc' b/c that would fundamentally change the relationship between alex and the golem & introduce a conflict for when, you know, your war-machine gains independence and maybe doesn't want to be your war-machine any more, or maybe is psychically connected to the ravener and thus compromised, but, claygon gets made around chapter 130 and here we are in chapter 400+, nearly 500,000 words later, with the only development there being "idk sometimes he's maybe looking at me" "once he raised his arm without my consciously ordering him to" "i'm trying to read kids books to him but it's impossible to say if anything is being absorbed". this is glacial.

one thing i've noticed is that due to their serial nature a lot of progression fantasy books have a lot of plate-spinning? the main character will have a bunch of Projects, implicitly being worked on in the background, and a lot of the time the narrative will dip down to be like "hey this thing is still on the table being developed", like each mention of the thing gives the project Advancement Points. and once a project has gotten enough advancement points there's a scene where the project is resolved and now the main character has a new cool power, or whatever. it's kind of a 'level grinding' approach to narrative, where you have to invest enough words into a side plot before it can rank up. it was kind of funny to read the first time i saw it (in, i think, 'retrograde motion', which was maybe my first exposure to progression fantasy though i didn't really recognize it at the time. see how many times the wood release jutsu plant pot thing gets mentioned just to remind the reader that yes she's still working on it but no there's no progress yet!) but it's rapidly outstayed its welcome as a writing technique. but all the claygon sentience stuff falls solidly into that realm: let's bring it up for a paragraph or two every dozen chapters so people know it's still on the table, but let's not actually do anything with it yet.

(anyway i'd agree that baelin has been fairly well characterized as like, having personal interests utterly beyond the capacity of the narrative to express & that including the romantic, it's just a little obnoxious when the first on-screen romantic interest he's expressed has been to a sexy female demon. like oh was it actually just that he's into scorpion pincers on women all this time. by specifying they've dramatically cut down the fun ambiguity of "probably literally everything including sex you couldn't even comprehend" into like, "women w/ chitin plates". it's like that star trek episode where they're like, oh this alien species has three genders, we're gonna have a forbidden romance! and then they cast the third-gender alien as a woman so johnathan frakes can kiss her without it being Gay. i'm not saying baelin has gotta fuck a dude onscreen, but, having him flirt with the demon who's just a scintillating octahedron or w/e would have been much better imo.)

i liked the first book or two of beware of chicken, but now that it's firmly slid from being an isekai xianxia parody to just being an isekai xianxia novel so that's less interesting.

i really liked the essence of cultivation, probably in part because it's short. and also the magic system is fun to think about. i have a file on my computer that's me trying to figure out what some of the magic spells valiance groups would look like. a lot of progression fantasy stories have good openings but then somewhere in the hundreds-of-chapters slog they all just turn into the same grindy power fantasy mess, so probably the fact that this concluded one arc and then went on hiatus forever does a lot.

i've been enjoying godslayers! fun premise, not afraid to have characters utterly fail at things, & i genuinely don't know how it'll resolve its various plot threads, but it's proceeding at a steady clip and producing more and more disasters as it goes so that's a plus in my books.

like i've been reading a bunch of other things also (uhh memoirs of your local small-time villainess, yagacore, surviving the succession, fated to fall, jackal among snakes, soul of the warrior, etc) but i wouldn't say that i'm really enjoying them. i mean 'soul of the warrior' is very funny in how overtly it's just like, the main character is super cool and super powerful and nothing is ever going to even fleetingly gesture at being an impediment to his meteoric rise in power level. pure distilled power fantasy. 'fated to fall' is actually kind of funny also in that the author has talked about scrapping an entire 'turning evil due to cursed amulet' plotline b/c people got real mad, which seems like it would radically change the plot, but, really who knows. i guess maybe not fated to fall after all! but it recently also hit a "and then the characters go to magic school for years" section of the plot after wrapping up what had been the primary narrative tension (evil stepmother constantly trying to assassinate her) so maybe i'll stop reading it.

Users of the hit vampire social media site, VamVu, get a surprise when a live video featuring Darren Hayes, frontman of Savage Garden, is hosted. They're stunned and outdone, but they get great news.

Intro:

You sit at or hold your Wi-Fi-enabled device (laptop, tablet, computer, phone, whatever) with a glass of junior blood wine at hand. It’s the cheap shit because everybody knows you were piss poor broke before you were embraced, so why would undead life be any different? You sign into your VamVu (yeah, a play on vamp/vampire view) account located on the dark web. You catch up with some of your friends, thumb down a video by sociopolitical leftist pussified vampires which promoted allowing weres, shapeshifters, zombies, demons, and Magic Folk on the site, and thumb up one commenter’s chant of “keep VamVu bloodstained red.”

WIP Wednesday

A Gotham Knights au/slight canon divergence; where Turner has an older brother, his brother knows the Row twins, and things just happen differently. The main premise is the same: trying to figure out who murdered their father and why.

Enjoy this long snippet from my fic, Broken Wings.

“So, help me God, Turner, I am not above breaking and entering. Don’t think that just because you’re my brother I won’t bust down this door! I have done it before, and I will do it again. Swear to God, I’m not afraid of the GCPD. Do not test me,” Hunter shouted, fists pounding rapidly against the wooden barrier.

He was so engrossed in getting his brother’s attention that he failed to notice Cullen approaching behind him until he appeared at his side. “Jesus Christ. Will you stop doing that? It’s fucking creepy, make some noise or something.”

Cullen just smiled. Hunter hated that after so many years he could still sneak up on him if he did it right. He wondered if it was Cullen’s favorite thing to do, but decided he would rather not know the answer.

Hunter and Cullen had been fixed points in each other’s lives for as long as they could remember, neither of them planned on changing that.

“Are you really going to stand there yelling at him through the door?” Cullen asked, tilting his head, amused. “Imagine if we had neighbors.”

“We live in a bell tower, Cullen.”

“That’s the joke, Hunter.”

“Alright, well. Piss off.”

“Is this actually necessary?”

“Yes, quite. Though, it wouldn’t be if Turner would open the fucking door!” Hunter screamed again, raising his fists to rap at it once more. He paused with his arms halfway up, his hands went lax in front of him, and his eyes widened in shock. “Shit” — he blanched at the rawness of his voice, the sharp edge it held — “Sorry, Cullen.” He tried not to lose his temper in front of him, it was an unspoken rule he had upheld until now.

Cullen shook his head, a wide smile stretched across his lips, and a laugh crawled up the back of his throat. He pulled his lockpicking kit from his back pocket, nodding toward the door. “Hunter Hayes, I have seen you monumentally lose your shit over way less. Please don’t stop on my account. Now, should I pick the lock or do you wanna continue with this riveting display? Clearly, it’s working for you.”

Hunter furrowed his eyebrows and stepped aside. His cheeks flamed a dark shade of red that quickly spread across the bridge of his nose to the tip of each ear. It wasn’t the first time Cullen had caught him mid-tantrum and it probably wouldn’t be the last, he was full of piss and vinegar and suppressed frenetic energy. Cullen never seemed to mind.

Hunter took a moment to breathe, inhaling the calmness that Cullen’s presence brought, and exhaling the anger he felt at having his brother storm right past him without a word. Their growing maturity did little to stop the brotherly grievances between them; Hunter often hated the competition for their father’s affection. Cullen had always been a welcome balm for both.

Hunter zeroed in on Cullen’s hands moving the tension wrench and hook pick in the lock, marveled at his ability to move his fingers with such precision, and tried not to get caught staring. The crush he harbored for Cullen would remain unnamed even if he had to tear his own heart and tongue out to do so. Turner was the only one who knew.

“What did he do this time?”

Hunter’s trance-like gaze moved from the door to Cullen who was looking up at him expectantly. He squinted, cleared his throat, and wrung the end of his pullover sweater between his hands. “What?”

Cullen chuckled. “I said, what did Turner do that has you all fucked up this time?”

“No clue,” he admitted, frowning. His left hand went to his hair, fingers tugging harshly at the roots. “He hasn’t said a word to me since he got back from training with Carrie, he just shut himself upstairs and hasn’t come out.”

“Wait a minute, you don’t even know what you’re mad at him for?”

“Um ... no? But, I mean, he blew past me like I wasn’t even there, and he’s been ignoring my attempts to talk all evening. So.”

“So, what? H, I say this as your best friend with all of the respect I can pull out of my ass, grow the fuck up.”

“Hey, whoa. Rude.”

“Turner is a big kid, okay? He can take care of himself, and he can decide whether he wants to talk about what’s going on without his big brother hovering so close all the time.”

“That’s not— But he’s—”

“Seventeen, and he knows how to handle himself.”

“I am not hovering.”

“You are. You’re also pouting.”

Hunter leveled a glare on Cullen where he stood, now facing him. They knew each other inside and out, countless times they had witnessed the peak of anxiety and panic that followed when things happened that they did not understand. Hunter believed his anger was the only way he could control the uncontrollable, and he didn’t know how to turn it off. Cullen never asked him to.

He knew Cullen was right, he always was. It was hard for Hunter to relinquish control, to back off and worry less, to go against every instinct that he had and let Turner find his own way. He was the oldest, his job for 17 years had been watching out for his little brother. When their parents died, he vowed never to stop.

“Look, take it from someone whose sister still acts like he’s going to break if she isn’t right up his ass. You will both be better for it if you just let him be.” Cullen laid a reassuring hand on Hunter’s shoulder and offered a soft understanding smile. “My point is, you will be fine if you can’t control this one thing, H. And Turner’s got this, whatever this is.”

Hunter glanced at the door, hoped Turner knew that he would be there when he was ready, and allowed Cullen to guide him back to the tower where Harper and Stephanie were. Down the hall he could hear his friends laughing, his best friends enjoying the quiet evening.

He would give anything to feel that freedom.

“Come on, Pup,” Cullen said, pulling him by the elbow. “Harper has something to show us. Turner will join when he’s ready.”

Hunter threw his head back, whining. Cullen insisted on using that godforsaken nickname to refer to him and he hated it. Ever since he told the twins that his father was Batman, Cullen couldn’t let it go.

“Or we could just not do Pup. You know? Pup is not a thing.”

“I’ve said it, like, twice.”

“You perpetuate its use, C.”

“It’s cute!”

“It’s demeaning.”

“Oh, do not give me that bullshit. You’re the son of renowned billionaire, CEO, and vigilante, Bruce Wayne-slash-Batman. And do you know what a baby bat is called, Hunter? Pup. It’s called a pup.”

“I’d like to state for the record, one more time, that I never actually knew that Bruce was Batman.”

“Tomato, tomahto.” Cullen shrugged.

Hunter scoffed, made a noise of displeasure and threw himself bodily into the leather armchair. It smelled heavily of Bruce’s aftershave and cologne, as if he’d just been sitting in it. He remembered when he and Turner were little, the way Bruce would sit each of them on one side and share stories from his childhood. How had they convinced Harvey to let them take it?

“Hey,” Cullen said, digging his elbow into Hunter’s side from his perch on the armrest. “He’ll be fine.”

Hunter rolled his eyes, shoved Cullen off, and gave him the finger. “Fuck off, Row. I don’t wanna hear it.”
