HERE HAVE SOME HEADCANONS

So I headcanon Carlton as coming from absolutely nothing and making it in Silicon Valley by virtue of unbelievable hard work and talent.

IDK, but he just has this aura of being...kind of a weird guy. I can't see him really having either close friends or a boyfriend, and I think that in some ways romance just goes right over his head. But more to the point, this has been a constant throughout his life. He's never really had friends. Family relationships are also right out.

One of the things that defines him, I think, is a sort of disdain for embodiment. I can't see him really enjoying a meal or rocking out to a song. And then there's the way he returns, over and over, to evolution... He is as close to a life fully of the mind as he can be. I can see him & Riot finding common ground over this - the human body as a machine of service, something that requires certain inputs but can (should) be upgraded if necessary. And discarded.

On a larger scale, I headcanon humanity as being pretty small, fragile, and highly limited by the fact that we spend almost a third of our life asleep. I think the Venomverse (SUMC?) is populated by rough tough aliens who rarely need to sleep, if ever. And that's even before you get into the cybernetic/biological modifications widespread in known space. Drake's body is nothing. Drake knows this. Riot knows this. But Drake has a mind...and what a mind it is. A strange, glittering jewel in a sleeve of spun glass.

(But secretly Riot loves his soft, tender host. It's unreal. It makes him giddy, every part of Drake is just so squishy uwu~~~~~ Drake is so breakable, but Riot will never let that happen.)

Drake is a character defined by wanting. He has always wanted. Please refer to U2's song "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" for this. But it's not just that he hasn't found what he wants: he doesn't know, cannot even articulate what he wants. I think this is part of the reason why he has aimed so high: if the goal is impossible, the longer he gets to tell himself that this is the thing that he truly desires. The longer before the wanting grows flat, stale. I also think this is part of his frankly nutsy, ElonMusky plan to get aliens???? to help people live in space???? instead of putting his immense wealth toward environmental restoration.

BONUS RIOT HEADCANON:

Riot's favorite song is "Going in for the Kill" by La Roux. He didn't really alter anything in Drake's lifestyle, but he did change Carlton's ringtone to that.

Riot also thinks spiders are super aesth8ic and when they were blasting off in the rocket Elon Carlton was totally wearing spider-patterned socks.
