#funny (bad) story: my mom ofc believes in the pinkwashing stuff#however my grandparents (her parents) took literal years to accept the fact that i'm gay#and now their opinion on gay people is ''our grandson is one of the good ones''#that's just my family sure but the pro-lgbt stuff is for show i promise. the article elaborates#there's not a place in the world where it isn't for show to some degree#in general especially if u live in us/can/aus/nz/w europe u should know lgbt laws can be used for posturing for another political goal#even if a society is lgbt friendly they can use it to brag essentially. and the other way around too#like how a bunch of countries call lgbt a ''western phenomenon'' as a scapegoat for oppression/corruption/etc#or how some european countries may institute pro lgbt laws just to get into the eu#and in this case it's ''we're more civilized than those barbarians we care about our people they don't we should kill them all'' etc#so yes please don't fall for pinkwashing#unrelated but this is also a reason why i laugh at right wing grifters who call. idk. russia Based And Trad while the us is apparently#Overrun With Woke. if anything the us is the country without abortion and higher church attendance#(not that russia is actually ''woke'' or anything ofc)#ditto with lw grifters (like that guy on tumblr you know who i'm talking about) who end up circling back to calling lgbt a#petit bourgeoise cause or smth like that
