#how many new hires aren't given enough direction but are treated as a burden if they want help or ask for clarification?

Not just positive reinforcement but a concrete visual representation that they're doing things the right way/did a good job. Not everyone is good with verbal recognition, something like a sticker is real, physical, and exists as proof to others that they're doing a good job.
With (the utter lack of) job training these days, it's no surprise getting some sort of direction has positive results. Setting someone loose and expecting them to figure it out on their own gives no direction or feedback on what to do or how to do it.
Stickers may seem childish but they serve a purpose. Just make sure your boss/job compensates you for them, especially if your own job doesn't involve training new hires.
i literally love when people realize positive reinforcement works like yes its so silly isnt it. but it literally works humans love juice reward too
#it's like being a visual or manual learner but only being told something#you can tell there's information there and you may absorb some of it but it's a struggle because your brain isn't wired for audio-only info#but if the same info is presented in a way you can understand it's a hell of a lot easier and faster to do so#also to jump back to the positive reinforcement part#how many new hires aren't given enough direction but are treated as a burden if they want help or ask for clarification?#'figure it out on your own but if you don't do a good enough job' is a threat#i always wonder when people say new coworkers are incompetent if they really are or they simply weren't given training#oh and reason i specify physical proof is some people have a hard time believing or remembering something when it's only verbal#physical makes it real and allows others not there to confirm it if someone gets stuck in their head or their brain is being shitty#also a paper trail if your job decides to fire you claiming you weren't doing your job but there are stickers which say otherwise#not sure how well it would hold up in court but it couldn't be worse than it being your word against your employer's
