SmackDown LIVE, 12/19
205 Live, 12/19
NXT, 12/20

Non-WWE Match of The Week:
Mark Davis vs. Jordan Devlin vs. MK McKinnan vs. Omari (Infinity 2017 – Final)
Fight Club: PRO: Infinity 2017
Fight Club Pro — one of my favorite new promotions to watch this year — came to a raucous crescendo with its Infinity 2017 tournament. And so while I wanted to give the point to one of the many other good matches from that week (wow, see below), this elimination based-fourway was so solid. Not only does it offer a chaotic scramble style, but you practically got a whole other great match when it was down to the final two.
Honorable Mentions:
Walter vs David Starr, Beyond Wrestling: Cold Brew, 12/10
Darby Allin vs. Keith Lee vs. "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams, Evolve 97, 12/10
Jaka vs. Zack Sabre, Jr. (c) (Evolve World Championship), Evolve 97, 12/10
Matt Riddle vs. WALTER (No Rope Breaks Match), Evolve 97, 12/10
Omari vs. Millie McKenzie (Infinity 2017 – First Round), Fight Club: PRO: Infinity 2017, 12/10 VOD
Kay Lee Ray vs. Mark Davis (Infinity 2017 – First Round), Fight Club: PRO: Infinity 2017, 12/10 VOD
Ospreay/Okada vs Naito/Takahashi, NJPW World Tag League Final, 12/11
Zack Sabre Jr. vs Chuck Taylor in a Falls Count Anywhere No Ring Match, Death Match 7, 12/13
MJF vs Joey Ryan, MLW: Never Say Never, 12/13
Shane Strickland & John Hennigan vs Jimmy Havoc & Darby Allin, MLW: Never Say Never, 12/13
Grizzled Young Vets (Zack Gibson & James Drake) vs Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis), Progress Chapter 59: Whatever People Say We Are, That's What We're Not, 12/15
EYFBO (Angel Ortiz & Mike Draztik) vs Private Party vs House Of Gangone vs Brian Burgundy & TJ Marconi, House of Glory: Se7en, 12/16
Zack Sabre Jr. vs Amazing Red, House of Glory: Se7en, 12/16
Non-WWE Segment of The Week
A Wild Chris Jericho Appears... And Then
NJPW World Tag League Final, 12/11
What started as a fantastic surprise now has some teeth to it, thanks to these two segments. Just, bravo.
youtube
youtube
Also, gotta love the subtle trolling from Jericho, in the lines saying this match will end Omega, he specifically suggests it’s the end of Omega’s run in New Japan.
WWE Match of The Week:
Roman Reigns vs. Cesaro - Intercontinental Championship Match
Monday Night Raw, 12/11
Ah Cesaro. Remember what I said about his former fellow King of Wrestling in WTW 48? Same goes here.
And this match allowed him to show management that he’s ready as hell for a singles push if and when Sheamus retires.
youtube
Honorable Mentions:
Seth Rollins vs. Sheamus: Raw, Dec. 11, 2017 - YouTube, Monday Night Raw, 12/11
The Usos vs. Rusev & Aiden English, SmackDown LIVE, 12/12
Aleister Black vs. Adam Cole, NXT, 12/13
Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs. The Authors of Pain, NXT, 12/13
WWE Segment of the Week:
“Don’t talk to Drew like that.” - Tony Nese / Tony Nese vs Enzo Amore
205 Live, 12/12
It pissed off many that Enzo Amore got the cruiserweight championship, but wow has this situation helped Drew Gulak. While the below segment focuses on the match between Nese and Amore, I’m only bringing it in as contextual info to a clip WWE’s YouTube doesn’t have, a backstage segment where Gulak’s Team PowerPoint buddy Tony Nese — maybe Drew’s one true friend — stuck up for Drew.
youtube
The sadness of the betrayal, though. Not since Festival of Friendship has WWE hit this note so well.
Honorable Mentions:
Matt Hardy’s “Woken Warriors” prepare to battle the “Wyatt Swarm”, Monday Night Raw, 12/11
Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn occupy SmackDown, SmackDown LIVE, 12/12
"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler is headed to NXT, NXT, 12/13

ACE Aftermath May 13, 2017 Morgan Jr. Arena, Wallington, NJ
Before the show started, ACE held a ten-bell salute for the late, great “Professor of Old School” JL Chico.
Right the first match was prepared to be introduced, the two time former ACE Heavyweight champion TJ MARCONI made his return. Marconi let his opinions felt around the disrespect he has perceived getting from ACE fans and management. Just as he was preparing to continue his verbal diatribe, ASTRO MORALES came out to the ring! Accompanied by his agent Marcus Aviles, “the Puerto Rican Powerhouse” challenged “the Boot Party” to a match RIGHT THEN AND THERE!
Marconi defeated Morales. After knocking Aviles off the apron, Morales tried to powerslam the “Boot Party”, but Marconi eye-raked his way out of it. One schoolboy and a hold of the ropes later, Marconi gained a W.
The team of former ACE Tag Team Champions Black Zemis & Ultimo Maya and Prince Akkanatan defeated Johnny Angel and the Commandos when Zemis pinned Matrix with a flying elbow drop.
Nikos Rikos defeated Howie Timberche in a good back-and-forth encounter after a Lion Tamer for a submission.
In a mixed tag team match, Mike Donovan and Nadi defeated Jayel Cotto and the Black Diamond after a Donovan low blow and a South Side Knockout gained the victory on the Diamond. During the battle, Anthony Ramirez, in a walking boot, came out onto the ramp.
Once the bell rang for the end of the match, FNB sent a bearded performer out to the ring. The man, referred to by ACE commentator Cheyenne Ortiz as Tom O’Malley, absolutely decimated Diamond. Once his work was done, Ramirez handed O’Malley a payoff. O’Malley was seemingly a “Gun For Hire” for Ramirez, especially after last month’s backstage incident with the Diamond.
Anthony Gangone regained the ACE Diamond Division championship from Archadia in a 2-out-of-3 falls match. The first fall went to Archadia via disqualification after a steel chair shot to the head. The second went to Gangone not soon after the first fall. The final fall went to Gangone, who legitimately picked apart Archadia and his weakened state. The Morgan Jr Arena is once again the “House of Gangone”.
The Dukes successfully retain the ACE Tag Team Titles in a triple threat match against the Super Savages and Steven Pena & Jorge Santi after Rick Duke gave the whiskey mist to Caveman on the arena floor, setting up Aiden to schoolboy the Neanderthal for the victory.
Thanks to interference from a TJ Marconi big boot, Vince Steele, accompanied by Mr. Mustafa, pins Adam Payne. Why did “the Boot Party” lay out “the Payne Train”?
In a fatal four way, Sebastian Cage successfully defended his Fight for Flight championship against “the Selfie Superstar” Too Hot Steve Scott, Evander James, and “the Croatian Sensation” Mario Bokara when he pinned Scott after a Phoenix Splash. Unreal action.
In the main event, ACE Heavyweight champion Danny Maff defeated Crowbar w/ Mr. Mustafa by disqualification when Vince Steele interfered. Crowbar then absolutely leveled the champ with a steel chair several times over, followed up by an onslaught of avalanches by the “Jurassic Juggernaut”. Astro Morales attempted to run in for the save, but was also beat down by Mr. Mustafa’s henchmen. Even referee Dom Dinero was taken out in the onslaught. The ACE locker room ran out and cleared Mustafa and Mustafa Law away from the ring. For one night, Steele and Crowbar stood dominant.
NEXT SHOW: Mercury Rising on June 3, 2017 at the Morgan Jr Arena, Wallington, NJ

Capitol Wrestling Episode Five Coverage: Dixon Dominates
Capitol Wrestling Episode Five Coverage: Dixon Dominates
Setting up their next show on June 3 at Cathedral Hall in Jersey City, Capitol Wrestling delivered a hearty helping of promo, throwing all the names involved in their upcoming event from House of Glory star Anthony Gangone to indie stars Sonny Kiss and Preston Quinn.
Away from the promo, the match between Ken Dixon and Ryan Zane did a solid job of putting Dixon over as a more than suitable…

ACE Pro Wrestling presents Reckoning
April 8, 2017 Morgan Jr. Arena in Wallington, NJ
In a stunning upset, Johnny Angel defeated THE BLACK DIAMOND after a reversal into a rollup for the victory. The KISS Army has been silenced by the Angel of Death.
Steve Pena and Jorge Santi defeated Golden Shower when Pena pinned Prince Akkanatan.
In a match with two of the four men from the main event of Crossroads 12, “The Croatian Sensation” Mario Bokara defeated Crowbar. Near the end of the match, “the Demonic Destruction Device” had Bokara beat, but due to a miscommunication between Crowbar and Marcus Aviles, Bokara locked on a perfectly executed O’Connor Roll for the victory!
In a women’s division match, Jayel Cotto used her martial arts kicks to defeat Nadi. The women’s division is heating up!
Sebastian Cage won the vacant Fight for Flight championship, pinning Kid Christian after a Springboard 450 Double Kneedrop for the pin! Also in the match included former Fight for Flight champ Mike Donovan and Evander James.
In a pier 6 brawl style lumberjack match, Adam Payne defeated Anthony “FNB” Ramirez after TWO Derailments and a lot of offbeat shenanigans with the lumberjacks at ringside.
Rick and Aiden Duke retain the ACE Tag Team Championships against the Super Savages of Caveman and Mantequila. However, Caveman devoured all the remaining booze the Dukes maintained. Good grief, a drunk neanderthal.
Due to offbeat shenanigans, Vince Steele defeated Astro Morales. However, it wasn’t until after the match, where CROWBAR betrayed his manager Marcus Aviles and joined with Mustafa and Mustafa Law! An out and out beatdown from all 3 men on “the Puerto Rican Powerhouse”!
Anthony Gangone got himself disqualified in his Diamond Division championship rematch against Archadia after refusing to stop stomping the champ in the house before the 5 count. After the match, “the Rogue” grabbed a steel chair and kicked the head in of the prone Archadia. This rivalry just got personal. EXTREMELY personal.
In an absolute war, Danny Maff successfully defended his ACE Heavyweight championship against Donovan Dijak. Maff met his match with a man who was as much of a destroyer as he is. Both men truly showcased what the ACE Heavyweight championship is all about: the HEART of professional wrestling.
We come back to Wallington, NJ at the Morgan Jr Arena on May 13 with AFTERMATH. Tickets are on sale at http://ACEProWrestling.com!

The Good, The Bad, and The Shindie
(An Indie Pro Wrestling Audience Member’s Notes)
This past weekend, because I’m a glutton for pro wrestling, I consumed three heaping portions of it on the indie scene. That was Five Borough Wrestling in Flatlands, Brooklyn on Friday the 17th, House of Glory in Jamaica, Queens on Saturday the 18th, and, well, Sunday the 19th featured Entrar En El Circulo Del Dragon, presented by Tier 1 and Lucha Libre Promotion NY. I’m going to try and keep this positive, so I’ll bury my grievances at the bottom of the notes I took away:
Five Borough Wrestling: Back 2 The Legion in Flatlands, Brooklyn - 2/17
For those unfamiliar with one or both of them, Fire Ant vs. “Croatian Sensation” Mario Bokara was much better than it sounds on paper. I’d seen Bokara before (in a gauntlet match at Battle Club Pro in The Bronx) but this was the first time he wowed me, as he benefitted from the 1-on-1 focus.
Dude was the angry, arrogant heel who couldn’t believe he wasn’t able to put Fire Ant down, and did work with the audience when we taunted him for being a failure.
Lucha Underground’s Matt Striker was a fun performer that night, acting as some sort of general manager and doing a lot of interaction with the kids in attendance. Then some verbal sparring with Tier 1 World Champion Darius Carter before actually going toe to toe with him. The match wasn’t a show stopper, but gave them both a chance to connect with the audience.
Carter, though, is solid, solid heel. I saw him at both FBW and the Lucha show, and I look forward to seeing more of him going forward. Not only is the guy a natural smug villain, but he also works that chicken-shit heel angle. I’d like to see more reason to take him seriously as a threat.
“Pro Wrestling Savior” J.T. Dunn vs. “The Rogue” Anthony Gangone was probably my favorite match of the weekend, and if you don’t know these guys already, you will soon. Dunn’s a protoge of Chris Hero and works an appropriate style, while Gangone (pronounced Gang•Own) feels like CM Punk with Serj Tankian’s hair.
House of Glory Wrestling: With Glory Comes Pride, in Jamaica, Queens - 2/18
Wrestling is silly nonsense, and when it’s done right, I love it. Take for instance the team of Super Savages, which pairs Caveman who doesn’t quite understand (but loves) shoes and Mantequilla, a knockoff version of Hurricane Helms. They faced EYFBO (Angel Ortiz & Mike Draztik) who I don’t really ‘get’ ... as I think I’ve just got to see their other stuff. They’re a part of the faction Team PAZUZU with the Chris Dickinson and Jaka, who I’ve come to enjoy in Evolve.
I’m not the biggest fan of mixed-tag matches, but Sonya Strong and Big Daddy Cruz vs. Violette and Sasha Jenkins was beset by a lack of anything. Sonya Strong was the only person in that match who seemed to deserve to be in it. The rest of them seemed like jokes and just gyah.
I’d heard the name Ken Broadway on Trina and Damien’s Indie Pop podcast, but damn his defense of the HOG Crown Jewel Championship in a Fatal Four Way Match proved why he’s carrying the title. Dude can GO and I love his look, which seems like something out of Smash TV.
Also in that match was Rudeboy Riley, who really needs to figure his gimmick out. He’s athletic and had some fun moves, but Hype Bro Zubaz-esque ring gear plus tons of tattoos and blonde tips doesn’t add up.
Anthony Gangone had another strong outing, carrying a segment where he attacked my buddy, HOG Management Representative, Rob Blatt. The segment featured Gangone creating his own House of Gangone stable, again, this guy’s got a lot of attention on him and earns it. His match with Matt Sydal (fka Evan Bourne) was fun, but the damn crowd almost ruined it by heckling Sydal with weed jokes (he was kicked out of NJPW for possession). The match ended with tons o shenanigans with the House of Gangone beating Sydal down. And to be honest, I can’t stand Sydal as an angry tweener, as he’s too much like my least favorite wrestler: Face!Ziggler.
Tier 1 Wrestling & Lucha Libre Promotion NY Present: Entrar En El Circulo Del Dragon - 2/19
Don’t go to a show just for the main event. As cool as it was to see Pentagón 0M and Rey Horus (Lucha Underground’s Pentagon Jr. and Dragon Azteca Jr.) and they were dope their match was too short by at least a third of its length. I had the same issue with Low-Ki vs. Alberto El Patron the night before at House of Glory. Feels like these promotions book those names to sell tickets for the short term, but don’t pay enough to ensure returning audiences.
While a plethora of injuries can sink a show, an announcer can make all the difference. I had lowered my expectations going in because Matt Cross and Drago weren’t on the card, but grating, ambivalent and unprepared-sounding announcer just completely tanked my interest. I need to see a different Lucha show soon, so that’s not the sole live experience I have tied to the industry.
Also, there was a laptop giveaway that preceded the intermission. I get doing both at the same time, but to spend that much time wasting time just killed me. I doubt I’ll see something else from this promotion again.
Well, also, some of the matches were just meh. The soccer-playing Team España bored me to death, and felt like a lazier stereotype than Los Matadores.
Sonny Kiss vs Sebastian Cruz was trying to be some edgy shit with Kiss’s drag-esque gimmick and Cruz not tolerating it, but this isht made me yawn. Not sure why. It was just as botchy as any other match I saw.
