Chapter 10

Maria and Lindsay had walked three hundred and forty nine steps when she first saw it.

A rotter.

It was tall, wearing a turtleneck and a lab coat. Twin scars ran through its eyes, one fissure down towards its cheek, and the other upward, toward its skull. The pupils floating in the voids of its sockets were a bright golden color, too focused on the papers in its hands to focus on the people around it. Too bright, too intelligent, too... It looked like a skeleton and a porcelain doll crossed into something uncanny and wholly, unabashedly wrong.

Maria swallowed hard. Why wasn’t it attacking? There was meat everywhere, her included, but the rotter seemed too preoccupied with its notes to pay the flesh any mind. It — he? — seemed cognizant. Aware.

Alive.

Was there a cure? Had this group discovered a goddamned cure? She could only imagine the horrible things that they had to do on their test subjects, both living and dead, to get these results. Maria clenched her teeth to keep from hyperventilating.

“That’s a monster.” The rumble of Lindsay’s voice caused Maria to whip around to read her lips. “His name is Gold, but everyone calls him G. Do you want to say hi?”

Your datemate Butcher; they've never liked change. They thought change was strange and it took a while for their mind to really connect with the change.

Sometimes it was good, sometimes it was bad.

Today you were going to make them go through a pretty… big change. You were gonna get them to buy new clothes.

It isn't that you didn't like their big orange hoodie, but it was so old and messy. You knew that they needed to have different clothing… So you brought it up!

Butcher seemed unsure, mostly nervous. They were pretty dang big! How would they find clothing that fit them? You told them that it was fine! Some stores started to sell monster clothes… They were pricy but oh well, they were worth it. Butcher was always worth it.

So that's why you were now at that shop with Butcher, and they've been trying on a few different outfits but you could tell that they were pretty uncomfortable in most of them… You tried to tell them that they looked good, but they kept shaking their head. It sucked, but you understood.

You sat, resting your head against your hand, frowning. You felt bad, you thought it would be helping them out but they just… seemed unhappy.

Then the curtain got pulled back again, and when you looked, you saw Butcher in an… orange hoodie. This one newer looking but with fur on the wrists and hood. You could tell that they were happy, their tail wagging fast behind them.

That's adorable…

"Did you find something you like?" You ask, even though you had a feeling on the answer. They nodded fast, making you laugh, "it looks good on you!" You told them. You were happy that they found something.

'Should I get it?' They write in their notebook, looking at you with their head to the side. They seemed very pleased. At themselves or at you? Who knew.

"I think so," you nod in approval, smiling, "we can even pay for it and you can wear it out?" They nod and go to grab their old hoodie, and you two go to pay. You were happy that Butcher was happy.

Day Three: Delirium, HorrorSwap Papyrus

You sit in Papyrus’ room, the chains binding your ankles and wrist chaffing the skin until it became red. You look blankly around the room, not really searching for anything in particular. The door opens, but for some reason, you don’t seem to notice. Papyrus slinks his way over to you, a syringe gripped in his jagged hands. He gently grabs your arm, and positions the syringe over your vein. It takes you a few moments, but gradually, you look up at him with a blank stare. Papyrus smiles back at you.

“heya hun. i gotta give you your medicine, then you can eat, okay?” He says, piercing your skin and pushing the drug into your blood flow. You moan, startling Papyrus and making him blush.

“...hun? are you ...” He trails off, staring at you as you sway slightly. He reaches over and brushes the hair away from your neck, continuing to look you in the eyes. You mumble something incoherently, staring behind Papyrus at something visible to only you.

Papyrus leans near you, ignoring your mumbling. He nips at your neck, and you whimper. Papyrus ignores this at well, biting into your skin harder and harder. Blood begins to flow from the wound, staining your shirt and making you whimper again.

Papyrus draws away, staring at you again. You begin mumbling, rubbing your fingers against the fabric of his hoodie. The blush on his skulls glows wider. He runs his hand against your wound and stares at the blood. You let out a shuddery sigh, then collapse against Papyrus’ chest. He gasps out, then picks you up and lays you on the bed, stretching the chains taut.

“i’ll be back soon with food. don’t be too loud. i don’t want sans to find you. you’re mine.” He says, walking towards the door. He stops, resting his hand on the door knob and looking back at you.

“i’ll be back, don’t worry. and once i eat you, you won’t ever have to be away from me.”

And with that, he walks out, shutting the door softly behind him.

Chapter Three

The second you fell onto your ass you scrambled backwards. Your chest heaved from the force of your breathing. Once he cleaned himself, Nightshade turned to you with a scandalized expression.

“FINE. IF THAT’S HOW YOU WANT IT, TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME.” Raising one hand to his mouth, he turned his back to you and called, “HIVE! THERE’S A HUMAN IN THE GARDEN.”

A taller skeleton appeared at the threshold of the camper. He placed one hand on the doorframe before he ducked under it and stepped outside. Hive, the one with the aviators and the hawaiian shirt, towered over you, a lollipop dangling from his mouth.

“oh yeah, bro? want me to take care of it?” In his left hand was a baseball bat studded with nails. Hive lightly tapped it against his calf a few times, then he pointed it at you. Your eyes crossed to get a better look at it, and to your horror, you realized it was stained with blood. Not fresh, you knew what fresh blood looked like, it was old and dry. You could see parts where he tried to wash it. Didn’t he know that wood soaked up blood like a sponge? It would never be clean again.

These are fun but also a little hard to do sometimes lol

Your name was Y/n, and you were Butcher's datemate.

Being their datemate wasn't the… easiest thing in the world, to be honest. Sure, they were really sweet and cute! If you were hungry, or even remotely acted like you were hungry, they'd go to get you food and if you told them that you needed help, they might tease a little, but they would help you out.

The hard things that you needed to do was just to follow the rules that they gave you. The biggest one was just to warn them if you were going to be bringing home raw meat, and really, the nicest thing to do was just don't bring home raw meat.

For them both, it brings up bad memories. Snackers ate fake meat now while Butcher just couldn't really eat. They had to have a special thing to help them with their inability to eat and all that.

The other thing is that if you were going to be bringing home a friend, you needed to warn them. Mostly Butcher. They had a hard time trusting people and they would smell the new scent and be freaked out and worried that the random new scent belonged to someone that would come to try to hurt them.

Butcher was trying to get better with that…

Anyway! It was nearing Christmas and the three of you were doing a lot of things to prepare. Snackers left to go to the store to get things that they needed while Butcher was in the kitchen, making some of the food that they liked to make.

Snackers knew that he wasn't good at cooking anymore… honestly, he was never good at cooking. It was something that he knew well. Coo‌king didn't bring as much as a happy feeling anymore as it used to. He has no idea why but he decided to go and do other things! Things that he could have fun with.

You reach up putting up another sparkly thing on the roof when you heard a noise, so you turned your head and saw that it was your datemate! Butcher was watching, their head tilted to the side slightly.

"Oh hey Butcher, what's up? You need something?" They shake their head at the question, so you smile and reach up to place another one. "You know you could be helping me out, you're tall enough to where you don't even need one of these" you meant the stool.

They laugh at that and instead, they wrap one of their arms around your waist and nuzzle into your neck. You tilt your head to give them the room, petting the top of their skull.

"Ass" You mumble. They squeeze you gently then you see movement out of the corner of your eyes, and when you looked, you saw that plant. "Butcher, really?" You ask, laughing softly.

They look at you with a big dumb grin, tilting their head to the side. They lean forward and kisses you the best that they could, they didn't have their lower jaw which made it hard but... they did it the best that they could.

You chuckle turning to face them, hugging them closer.

At least the stool made this easier to do!

Butcher with a plus sized S/O would be so cute and wholesome. Feeling insecure? Tsundere cuddles and food. Upset someone insulted you? Picks you up for mad cuddles cuz he can't hurt that person. Trying to go on a diet? He's there with a piping hot plate of your favorite food, you don't need to diet, you're perfect to him! 😊🥺🥺

Of course! Here we go!

Butcher knows that they love you. They love every single part of you, even parts that you don't like and honestly, they're confused on why you don't like parts of yourself. You're perfect! Every time they see you, they get happy, and will purr softly.

If you ever feel insecure, and tell them, they'll tilt their head one side, then the other, and hums then scoop you up in their arms holding you against their chest, nuzzling into you purring happily. They want to tell you how much they love you and how amazing and beautiful you are, but they can't really do that.

Then if someone is ever mean to you about your weight? They're going to stand behind you, and scare the person bad enough to get the random person to leave you alone. They won't act as if they did anything though! If you turn around to look at Butcher, all of the anger will disappear real quick and they'll start to purr and coo softly.

Now, I will tell you, that if you want to lose weight Butcher will be a little sad about it because... they really like your weight, they like how chubby you are! If it's an unhealthy weight, they will agree saying that it would be okay to lose weight if that's what you want to do but don't do it unless you want to.

They'll often make you food, and will lay beside you, rubbing your belly as you ate nuzzling you, purring loudly. Whenever they see you eating, and gets the chance to cuddle with you, they get really happy...

Can, um, whenever you want, but could I maybe possibly get sweet early morning poly moments with Mutt, Butcher and Crank?

Hehe I knew this was gonna come at some point. Into the queue it goes!

Waking up with three different people in your bed wasn't something that everyone would be used to. Other than you, of course, seeing as though those three people were your datemates…

And monsters.

And… sorta the same person from three different worlds?

You didn't really know how to explain that, to be honest. They didn't seem to really care.

More often than not, you would get woken up from movement and you would either be snuggled up against Butcher's chest with his arms around you, or Mutt would be nuzzled up against your chest. It really depends on who goes to sleep first!

Crank often held you around your waist, but he normally woke up before everyone else. He always said it was best that you didn't see him when he wasn't, you know, high… he didn't like himself much like that.

So, this time, when you woke up and saw that he wasn't in the bed with you, you wiggled out of the others grips and went to find Crank. You, quickly, were able to find him leaning against one of the windows looking out, blowing smoke from his mouth.

He turns his head to look over at you, and gets a little smile “Y/n, hey… I didn't think you would wake up so early. I wake ya?”

You nod, and walk over to put your arms around his waist, resting your head against his shoulder, "Are you okay?" you ask, giving him a little squish. He hadn't even reattached his arm yet…

"I'm…" he thought about his next set of words, then shakes his head "No, but I will be" he turns his skull to nuzzle you lightly. "You know that they're gonna come searchin' for you if they wake up and you ain't in the bed with them"

"That's fine with me" You say, with a little grin and you nuzzle him back, humming happily. He held his smoke between his teeth, reaching up to scratch the top of your head. He always liked to do that, it was relaxing for whatever reason.

Together you both heard the sounds of footsteps and there was Butcher with Mutt on his back. The much taller skeleton tilted his head to the side, letting out a soft sound. He was most likely asking what you two were doing…

"Hey Butcher, we were just lookin' outside" Crank says, which you nod to agree with. Mutt lets out a soft murrr sound still asleep. Butcher nods and starts to walk so you let go of Crank and follow him, looking over your shoulder.

Crank starts to follow after too.

It was breakfast time! Butcher started to cook them something and Crank went over to bug him while he cooked, and to get himself some munchies, as he called it. Whatever he smoked didn't really give him munchies, he just liked to mess around.

You sat with Mutt to keep them company, and they were explaining their dream. It wasn't really that important but it sounded like it was for them, so hey! As long as they're happy you're happy.

You saw Crank leaning against Butcher, who's soul was glowing a nice white color. Oh hey, Crank's giving some magic… that's good. Butcher couldn't really eat so he needed to get the 'hunger' to go away somehow.

While Mutt was talking, you reached over, taking their hand into your own which makes them perk up, but they smile, and lace their fingers together. They were giggling...

This was pretty much the normal day by now.

Butcher with Hanahaki disease?

Butcher knew that something was wrong the second that they woke up. Their bones ached even more than they normally did, and there were petals around them on the bed. 

They gathered up the petals in their hands, rubbing their thumbs against the petals, a confused look on their face. The petals tear under their finger tips... they were so delicate.

What the hell?

They reach up to touch the top of their teeth, then tug their hoodie up and they look down. Their eye sockets widened a little when they saw vines. 

Vines were curled around their bones, most likely that was why they were feeling sore. They reach in, feeling at the flowers that were in there, and tugs on the vines.

Their breath got knocked out of their chest, causing them to shut their eyes tightly. Ugh... 

Shit.

Damn it, what the hell?

Where did these come from? 

Butcher decided to try to ignore it. They stand up out of their bed, rubbing at their face breathing out slowly and go over to attach the fake jaw.

After they got above ground with their brother, they got a lot of help. Mostly food and such. The humans gave Butcher a fake jaw, though! It was made out of metal, and they normally put it back on after they woke up. 

It felt... a little weird, you know? Cause damn, they never thought that they would ever get their jaw back, and the idea of eating and using their mouth to talk was nice. 

They didn't really talk though. 

They were told by their brother that they should try to get therapy and learn how to walk again, but... Butcher found the idea a little frightening. What if they tried to talk again, and they learned that they couldn't? 

They hadn't spoken in so long...

After they click the bottom jaw onto their bones, they click their teeth together. They didn't like the sound much but they clicked their teeth together whenever they either A, got hungry or B, was nervous. 

Normally both.

When they first got above ground Butcher had to go to the hospital for a while. They needed to figure out ways to get them stuff to eat, and honestly, it wasn't good for them. 

They hated the hospital, and hated being stuck there because they wouldn't let them leave. Plus their brother seemed so worried about them too. They hated that! They hated how their brother would react to stuff sometimes. Snackers always got worried about Butcher, even though Butcher was the older sibling.

The only good thing that came from the hospital was them meeting Y/n.

Y/n was a very sweet human that Butcher met, they helped Butcher feel better whenever they were nervous about stuff and they helped them learn how to eat again.

After Butcher was let out of the hospital they kept in contact. 

It was... nice.

Butcher reaches up to cover their mouth again feeling a slight tingle in their throat. What the hell was going on? 

They sat down, listening to Snackers making breakfast and listened to their brothers rambling. 

They were talking about a lot of things... It was a little hard for Butcher to keep up fully but they were happy that their brother enjoyed talking and didn't dislike the fact that Butcher couldn't respond...

Well...

They knew that Snackers didn't like it but there wasn't anything that they could do. 

At least... not right now.

They both ate together, and Butcher left to go to the store. 

Snackers got banned from the store that they lived near by. 

You could be asked why?

Yeah, well... Snackers bit someone. Butcher thought it was funny but the humans didn't, and they got in trouble but it was settled just by banning him, so now Butcher had to do the shopping. 

That's what Butcher was doing when he heard, "Butcher!" 

They blink and turn their head, panic shooting through their body for a second, but pauses when they saw it was Y/n. They were grinning and waving at Butcher.

They smile, but that tingly feeling in their bones appeared again, and the vines were tightening around their bones. They growled softly at the pain, shutting their eye sockets.

"Butcher? Are you okay?" They ask, putting their hand against their arm. The touch caused the feelings to get worse so Butcher walked away. 

They put their hand over their mouth, coughing into their hands. They felt the vines tighten on their bones, maybe trying to not get pulled out, but petals came out into their hands.

Butcher looks down at the petals, frowning the best that they could.

What are these damn petals for?

They look over at Y/n, seeing how shocked they looked "Butcher, you have Hanahaki disease?"

They hoped that the look of their confusion was enough for Y/n to explain what the hell they were talking about. It seemed to be because they sigh. Then they go on to explain what that disease was.

It was if you loved someone and believed that they didn't love you back, either you can get surgery to get them out but if you do that, you wouldn't feel love for the person anymore, and if you tell them and they love you back then that means the flowers would die because it wasn't one sided.

There's a type of disease for that?

Who even... Butcher sighs softly, shaking their head. There was nobody that they loved like that, not at all! They loved their brother but who else would they love? 

"Luckily it seems really early on" Y/n says, with a smile on their face their hand rested against Butcher's arm. 

Butcher looks at their hand, then at their face, making a small oh sound. 

Okay...

Okay yeah.

Yeah, that explains everything.

Butcher turns their head away, scratching lightly at the metal on their face, clicking their teeth together. Ohhhh shit.
